one more thing, I just want to tell everybody that at first it’s going to feel a little hard to do portion control because at first you’re going to fear that you won’t be satisfied with a little amount of food your plate but trust me it’s all in your head you will get used to it. you need to give it some time to let your stomach bag shrink back to its natural size which is the palm of your hand when we pile food on our plates and we gain weight we stretch out our stomach bags and that’s why we need a lot of food feel satiated but you start to practice portion control you will train your mind and body to eat small amounts of food and you’ll be able to drop the pounds and keep it off forever. I didn’t have to change anything in my diet I still make my husband and kids tacos for dinner spaghetti lasagna enchiladas Burgers and Fries but whatever I make no matter what I use portion control.

I know this video is years old, but I have a tip to share that will help with portion control. When you buy a package of anything (chips, cookies, pasta, rice, whatever), first thing you do when you open that package is measure the entire thing into equal sized single-serving portions and put each portion in a separate little baggy or container. Like if your bag of cookies has 12 servings, divide those cookies evenly into 12 snack bags. Pasta has 8 servings per container, so make 8 equal baggies of pasta. That way when you pull out something to cook or snack on, it’s an instant reminder not to eat more than one serving, and the rest of the food is safely out of sight in the cupboard and not in your hands to overindulge.

Im the same when it came to eating a family size bag of chips in two days. It bothered me that i couldnt control myself until i recently did the 21 day no junk food challenge. Where i replaced the chips, sweets and other fried or other unhealthy foods i would just cook all my meals at home and replace the bad stuff i was eating with fruits and veggies to keep me full.
Its one the reasons I enjoy your meal prep videos so much, it helps me to see what a proper portion looks like, and what a balanced meal looks like.

Portion control seems to be much more realistic when it comes to getting healthy. Normal diets don’t work. We all know they don’t work and yet we continue to beat our heads against the wall. No one is going to give up sweets and real food. It’s just not going to happen for very long. People go on diets, get starved, go on a pig out and then gain all the weight back. It just doesn’t work. So cutting our portions seems a much better plan.
I did took a prescribed fat blockers in 1999. It helped me lose weight because it blocked the fat I ate which resulted in lower calories per day. Eventually though I started using them to ensure I did not gain weight when over eating. Now those pills are over-the-counter and called Alli. Long-term weight loss is not from a bottle, a pill or a scalpel. It’s learning new behaviors, changing ones relationship with food, learning how to properly fuel the body and portion control. Personally, I’m still in that battle.

Sugar is quick energy and your body craves it because before we had easy access to sugary foods through the vending machines and supermarkets quick energy was essential to survival. So your body wants it because it’s job is to keep you alive and sugar is easy energy. There’s a part of your subconscious mind that says to eat what you can because you may not have anything later, but that’s not really true anymore; at least in a developed nation. That part of your mind hasn’t caught up to today’s reality although you could consider it disaster planning for worst case scenario situations.

I started seeing a nutritionist earlier this year and it was more like cut out all these foods (i def side eyed her )and I am now noticing that is not working for me and it is not sustainable..I think I am going to try it your way these last few months of the year and see how I do by gradually cutting out items and reducing portion control.. cause this year i have been gaining and losing the same 10 pounds because I have not grasped the portion control or have had way too many cheat days because she wanted me to all of a sudden stop eating things I’ve had for

yep, many overeaters have no clue what are normal portion sizes. i was the same. it took time to research and try it out myself. i bought a kitchen scale and started to read labels. i counted calories. because i wanted to learn about foods energetic value. its good to know. because if its less value, you can take bigger portions. for example more greasy meat ca 250 kcal per 100g i took only 100g of that meat product for meaty part for dinner. but on the other hand lean filets, which give ca 100 kcal per 100g i can take 200g of it. so i began to see its kinda wise to choose leaner food because i can take more of it for the same calorific value:). also its about choices

Agree 100% about the diet pills. They always say to use them along with diet and exercise in order to see results. But if you’re dieting and exercising, what good are the pills?! Nothing but hype and gimmick and fraud.

I also think one of the biggest problems with trying to maintain portion control (in addition to dropping portions too fast so you end up hungry and feeling deprived) is that the smaller portions we do eat still have very little in the way of nutrients that help with satiety and slow digestion. I’m not advocating Keto or anything, but eating more fat and/or protein certainly makes a difference in hunger for me. Any type of carbs, whether complex or simple, need some high-fiber, high-protein, healthy fat friends to join the dinner party. Otherwise it’s impossible to stick with anything if you’re starving an hour later.

So I was thinking about starting the Keto diet. I was just told I’m prediabetic and my doctor said there’s nothing they can help me with other than telling me to workout and change how I eat. Til this day I’m already 51 pound less. Have lost 2 Sizes from 40 to 36 and almost 34. 34 is a little tight between the legs but the belly button close perfect. Need to lose maybe 15 pound to be comfortable. I’ll post the results when I get there.

Okay well this method is probably not going to help me. I’m 5 foot 4 and I weigh 403 lbs and that’s not even my highest weight at that height my highest weight was 422 I would like to know how much water I need to drink daily and how many calories I should be eating to get the weight off. I keep downloading these stupid apps that supposedly chose you how much calories you should eat according to your weight and they’re always telling me well over 2000 calories but it my size shouldn’t I be eating a minimum of 1200 calories or less? And drinking a gallon of water a day I’m guessing wouldn’t work for me either since I’m not the “average” size person UGH mind you I didn’t lose those 19 lb from watching my calories I’m currently doing the keto diet but I would like to know how many calories I should be eating daily to burn as much fat as possible and how much water I should drinking to lose the weight. ALSO believe it or since I’m someone that hardly ever drinks water I recently started drinking water about 2 weeks ago and cut out all diet sodas I had dropped 6 lb the first week and 9 lb of second week I weigh myself every Monday and I couldn’t believe what I saw on the scale AFTER CUTTING OUT DIET SODA AND DRINKING ONLY WATER 100% OF THE TIME DAILY WITHIN THOSE TWO WEEKS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST WATER WEIGHT IT WAS LITERALLY MELTING OFF LIKE BUTTER. so I don’t know if this is true or not but I think morbidly obese people such as myself could possibly carry up to as much as 30 lb of water and the rest is fat. So for my highest weight of 422 lbs to now 403 lbs I believe that 19 lb is pure water weight and I truly believe I have another 10 more pounds of water to loose maybe much more. I’m just curious has anyone done any research about this how much a morbidly obese person can carry in water weight on top of their fat like I said before my highest weight was 422 but the lowest I was able to get down to while on keto was 386.2lbs but I noticed my body starts to get stubborn when I get to between 393lbs and 395lbs the weight loss start slowing down and then of course I usually get depressed kick myself out of ketosis and getting that water weight all back which it being water weight comes back on extremely quick. I started keto September 2nd 2016 AND FOR MY ABSOLUTE HIGHEST WEIGHT TO MY ABSOLUTE LOWEST WEIGHT ON THE DIET WITHIN THOSE TWO YEARS I HAVE ONLY LOST 35.8 LBS WHICH IS QUITE EMBARRASSING AND RIDICULOUS. Mine’s you when I stated earlier I hardly ever drink water I literally mean I would probably drink maybe a gallon a year YEP THAT BAD the whole 2 years while on keto and even before keto in my everyday life that’s probably how much water I would drink. It was always either iced coffee soda or juices. AND UP UNTIL TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN I DECIDED TO GIVE IT ALL UP AND DRINK STRICTLY WATER THE WATER WEIGHT WAS JUST FALLING OFF LEFT AND RIGHT. Anyway I rambled enough I would just love to know if anybody out there has a little bit more information about this particular top it because I never hear any information about this from Dr or just people in general talking about it. I know all of us as humans carry water in our bodies but I’m specifically speaking on behalf of “water weight” HOW MUCH OF THIS CAN A MORBIDLY OBESE PERSON SUCH AS MYSELF CARRY?
