bullshit ive been doing atkins for 3 years with one working kidney and i feel great.
For me it’s a ketogenic ‘lifestyle’ and not a ‘diet’. I’ve lost 113 lbs, my A1C is normal, my blood pressure is great and I feel fantastic. For my health, it has been nothing short of an amazing journey.

I don’t use Keto to loose weight. I use it to help control my blood sugar and as a T1 Diabetic it’s been tremendously successful in reducing my A1c from 7.5+ to 5.8. Yes, I’ve lost 25+ pounds, and kept off for but that’s not motivation.

This person is not educated in basic metabolism principles. She does not know that saturated fats are burned by the body when insulin is low enough like it is on a Ketogenic diet when carbohydrate intake per day is 20 grams or less.
It is simple and fundamental principle that we’re talking about here. When in a Ketogenic state, the body burns those mentionned “bad fats” which by the way are not bad. You dont “need” carbohydrates. They’re non “essential”

Do not “diet” and eat a small portion as this will slow your metabolism. Eat till your satisfied. (2000 calories). Stay away from fruit until you reach your goal weight. Fruit (fructose) is metabolized by the liver and stored as fat. If you think I’m wrong all this is easily verifiable on YouTube.

Where this video deviates from the truth is when it starts talking about carbohydrates and their necessity. The body through gluconeogenesis is able to produce whatever carbs are needed, and personally after 5 years my brain and other organs haven’t needed more than 30-50g per day.

Before you try anything different let me tell you when you change your diet there’s a chance you can get what I have reactive low blood sugar and it is a horrible sickness it takes years to reverse and it’s not worth it to lose 30 40 and 50 pounds. So I’d say if you wanna lose weight cut out fake sugar instead of cake have fruit basically don’t have any baked goods try not to have any sugary drinks and exercise more other than that don’t change too much about your diet and don’t count calories your body needs a different amount of calories every day

As for being morbidly obese, his organs shut down. When he entered the hospital, he weighed 195 pounds. When your organs shut down due to massive brain injury, you retain fluids. Im following a keto vegan diet temporarily though, instead of a lot of unsaturated fat, I get most of my fat from saturated fats like avocadoes nuts and seeds.
Although it does make sense keto is not sustainable in the long run because you are completely cutting out carbs (only carbs in the form of leafy vegetables) and sugar (including fruits). I plan on balancing out my carbs fats and protein once this diet is over.
