First think is I want to know about itinerary, but really your Damn sure beautiful I’m sure
My wife & son & I have been enjoying minimalist car camping for several years now (always knowing that we intended to become backpackers). We just bought backpacks for each other as an anniversary gift and are planning our first backpacking trip. Your videos have been very helpful and inspiring. Thanks a bunch!!
I’m finding my love for the outdoors again, your videos are inspiring and motivating. Thank you Abbie.
1. Determine your budget
2. Figure out of your goal trip
3. Research
4. Create a loose itinerary
5. Book your flight and accomodation
Yes, I love the content but you are articulate and engaging in your delivery, you would be a fantastic mentor for young people. I am much older than that but just did my bronze navigation course this is super informative and inspiring. Thank you!
The local tourist board might some information on walks in the area.
Thank you for a very interesting video. Enjoyed the presentation that answered many of my question. In the case of on line maps are you not limited to those areas with good and reliable wi fi? Love your enthusiasm. Ken
Ha Ha. I clicked on this hoping to learn how to walk a plank!
Holy smokes girl slow down automatic fire brrrrrrrrr
You in a rush. Great content
Great videos. I would recommend these videos to anyone who is just staring out, or even people with more experience who may be able to learn something they didn’t know before.
great video guys. Knowing your location and the terrain Is a big one
A play in full and like #17 from Bits of Real Panther!
Just stopping in to help with your watch time, Dreamy Travel Story. I hope your weekend is off to a truly amazing start!

”Don’t mind me, I’m just going out on a Sunday stroll, not a care in the World for anything nor anyone around me. Just me, my cell, and the whole walkway all to myself..”
Abbie, I have decided to set myself the task of saying Naismiths Rule three times in a row real fast. You should do the same.If I ever get on you tube we’ll have a contest. No kidding, that was a thorough run down. You do some careful planning. There are so many places in the UK that are walker friendly and so much that’s interesting to see. Not so much in northeast Arkansas. Thanks for sharing with us. I like that great fungusy table.
Comment voyager sans se casser la tête visite se cite https://aviasales.ru/?marker=271379 ça m’a beaucoup aidée pour mon 1er voyage
It help me with my first trip
Left Manchester for Vancouver in 1994 and haven’t been back since. City looks much nicer and neater than it did back then with lots of new buildings. Manchester was run down and quite depressing in the early 90’s hence my move away.
It’s great video but I would say next time put some street/ major sights info on the screen. Thanks
Can someone tell me what is the visa requirements for an American going to Colombia?
Please do a mixture of both artsy and vlog! Would love that ❤️
Great video! I’m a newbie so I found this super useful! Thank you!
I have also been to Iceland with my family of seven! Lets just say it wasn’t the cheapest…..
I’m still watching your vid and haven’t finished it yet but I already wanna say thank you for this! I have plan next year and it’s a solo trip. And for someone who’s travelling alone for the first time, this helped a lot. Thank you!!
You’re absolutely beautiful and I love the sound of your voice! The sound of your voice is even beautiful
Hi Abbie I’ve only just recently found your vlogs & I love them, I totally enjoy walking a favorite being the north Yorkshire coast especially Scarborough
anyone who knows anything about taking care of maps ALWAYS known not to mark the with PENS. make a photocopy of your origional map if you want to highlight your route. when marking on the origional map, ALWAYS use pencil and avoid ANY kind of pen.
you should also make a route card of your journey in advance; with coordinates for your origional map, distance, elevation/altitude, and estimated timings for each “leg”. each “leg” should be approx 1 km long (which should take 12.5 minutes make your legs shorter if the route has many bends, is complicated, or the route is rapidly elevating the further you go. if need be, you can make your legs as short as 100 m if any of these are the case).
plan for good time for stops and meal breaks, but bear in mind: you want to cover as much ground as possible so dont make many rests more than 20 mins, and your meals should take no more than 1 hour tops (this is plenty of time!)
I think you should do vlogs! I love watching you experience countries!
Excellent Video, thank you. Bing maps also has full os explorer integration which very useful. New subscriber
Fantastic! Your video is very informative. At first, I thought I might not finish watching this video in one go, your presentation is so interesting that I watched it till the end.
Hope that I can join your walk in the future.
You are the best Sir. Best walking tour of manchester so far!!!
Fantastic content as always. Thank you
I’d love to be able to support your projects financially but unfortunately I’m barely supporting myself & my family. my small way of supporting instead is by liking, sharing and directing like minded folk towards your videos. Please suggest if there is any other ways you can be supported.
I’ve recently designed & created a StayWILD badge for my home Ed, 100% inspired by you. Involving over 50 activities and learning surrounding everything outdoors from physical and mental health benefits to making a neighborhood map of a nature walk, foraging, camping, bush crafts, conservation, befriending a local tree to study throughout the seasons. Climbing our first mountain, walking trails, weather, etc.. Loads of capacity for learning to create a lifelong love of the outdoors, with a shiny new badge & certificate to earn on completing the tasks. StayWILD
I admire you so much for willing to cover up when going to morocco. I dont think a lot of people realize that important part, especially when entering religious sites. love you tess!! Youre such an amazing human!
also i highly suggest purchasing a Rick Steves book. He basically writes these books of his experience and major tourist areas and a plan etc.
Abbie, great video offering some good advice on how to start planning. Thank you!
Great video.I am going on my first backpacking trip here in TN. My only problem is I don’t know anyone who goes backpacking. I am a newbie to backpacking and thank you for all the advice
This felt so genuine.
Love the vibe.
Thanks for such awesome advice!
I love Manchester and soccer ⚽️!! Beautiful city and nice walk Greetings from NYC
One tip about online info is that you need to be aware of who is giving the info. Here in Texas we have the North East Texas Trail (a rail-to-trail path). The online info from the state park folks is great, but overly optimistic as to what you can accomplish where. I was just out there this weekend and they made it seem as if it would be a cakewalk, however in reality there are few places to setup a tent, and unless you’re going town to town, there are no sources of water. The trail at most points is immediately surrounded by private property. None of that is on the web site dedicated to the NETT. IF possible find a forum with folks who have already hiked the route you want to hike.
I’d love to see artsy videos as well as vlogs for your trip to Morocco!
I had to hike by myself once due to friend was having a internship at a hospital, and i thought i was gonna be boring and miserable. But then the 1 week hike turned out to be AWESOME! I met so many people from all over the world and we all talk to each other here and there as we hike, and the best is that i don’t have to keep up with anybody or compromise anything for someone else, and oh yea! Finally i can be alone and not hearing women flapping their gums. And the downside of hiking into the deep woods is that there’s no mother fuking cellphone reception. I want to watch Netflix sometime by the campfire.
THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP I REALLY NEEDED THIS FREE APP WITH BROAD INFORMATION!
Thanks Dave, excellent video. I like specifically how you gave us visual of planning out specific trails. Thanks again
This was so helpful since I am planning a big trip around Europe next year! Xx
I love your channel so much. You’re a true inspiration.
I’m lost to understand why companies aren’t queuing up to work with you
Hey Dave. Love you videos! Can you do one about avoiding and treating exposure to poison ivy/oak/sumac? I’m highly allergic and still have a terrible time identifying these plants. Also I’ve heard that there are often plants growing nearby that counteract the urushiol irritant or relieve the itch. But I wonder… is that a myth? Do you or any of your fellow hikers suffer from these skin allergies?
Many thanks very useful. I did not realise how much information and insight could be gained from maps (I was rubbish at Geography…).
Re: National Trust their website often gives information about toilets in their properties and car parks, and whether the cafes of their properties are accessible without paying to go in.
You guys, it doesn’t take a lot of money to travel. I went from Chicago to New Orleans for a two day vacation. The flight tickets were 24$ each for Spirit Airlines. The bus ride to our hotel was 1.50$, our 4.5 star hotel was 50$ per person, I spent less than 50$ on food, drinks, shopping and activities that weekend. So in total, it was less than 150$ for a 2 day vacation. I’ve done the same for a bunch of places. (New York, Atlanta, Miami, Vegas.) Do not let money hold you back. Use Groupon. Plan months in advance. Things don’t have to be first class to be enjoyable. You don’t need a luxury suite room to explore a new city you’ve never been to. Don’t over complicate things, just go, get out there.
Absolutely love your channel! You make me want to be out on the hills everyday! I’m Somerset based so the quantocks are about 10 minutes down the road such a beautiful part of the country to live in! Thankyou for all your videos!
Abbie I think you could make a MAJOR contribution at this time with a video(s) when we are all being told to self-isolate (especially those of us with underlying health probs), but we can still walk keeping a safe distance from each other. Your perspectives on mental-health in the present situation would be REALLY useful and hoping that you are not struggling too much with all that is going on now.
Always great and useful information; cannot think of a better channel to get people out and about. And thankyou for using the word, “Orientate.” as people seem to be using, “Orient,” these days; is that another Americanism? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but, so much of the English language seems to be being taken over.
If you come to Casablanca let me know, I live there and I would love to meet you ❤️
You can’t go any where because the coronavirus and who even travels any more we are in the 2020s
Good info Abbie . I downloaded an app yesterday called AllTrails and was surprised by how many walking trails there are in our area. I look forward to walking the more scenic trails . Take care and God bless ✌️
as a kid who wants to go to Texas my parents said that if i can pay for it and plan it we can go it is hard this video is very helpful video
one tip that i highly recommend when traveling, especially in more conservative countries, is to always know where the nearest US embassy is. since you are new to the area you most likely don’t know all of the laws of the country. so if by chance you break a law, get to the US embassy as quickly as possible. once you set foot in the embassy you are on american soil. and are safe. i would recommend having your ID with you so it’s easier for them but they can identify you if you don’t have it. going to the embassy also works if you loose your passport. if you are doing any sort of international travel i would recommend finding the embassy in that country.
Why doesn’t this video have more views?!? Such helpful info!
You should come and visit us at The Map Shop in Upton Upon Severn. You would be in your element:-) Not too far from you x
My bf and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica for a week in March! I know you have been there a lot, do you suggest we stay in a few different areas or one place in particular?:)
Great video! How exciting that you’re going to Morocco. I would really recommend spending some time in Taghazout. It’s such a chill and beautiful place, very different from the bigger cities and a good break from the high tempo ☺️ can’t wait to see your videos from Morocco! I made a video from when I went there https://youtu.be/sqhojHGVuhY ❤️
Slow paced, natural and atmospheric, just how I like it. Thanks for the experience fellow walker. You’ve made me want to revisit.
do you know the brand of the pack at 5:18 i would really like to know
Short 1 week trip. Lol it takes me a year to get a week of vacation.
if you were to travel out of the states which airline do u recommend flying on
Great video, I would also add that if you are wanting to get maps don’t forget to check local classifieds like Gumtree as you’re never quite sure what you might find second hand. For example when I was planning to do Tour du Mont Blanc myself, I managed to pick up both maps I needed second hand for £8 which is significantly cheaper than getting them new anywhere else. They were practically like new and still in their little plastic wallets as well, could hardly believe my luck!
Thanks I want to book a spontaneous trip, I’m just worried about currency or change of currency how do you go about that? Btw I live in the US planning on going to Europe, either Greece or Spain:)
You should for sure do a travel vlog (like packing, pre flight stuff, during flight stuff, post flight, and the first day in 1 vlog☺️)
Grill please can you tell me where are your beautiful blouse is from? love it looks so beautiful!!
I can’t wait to see the Morocco videos! I love the vlogs where you talk a little bit just to say what you’re up to, and then show your day with music! That’s most of your vlogs I think tho lol I have loved all of them! But I definitely like hearing what you guys are doing rather than just seeing!
I would like to see vlogs!! I like hearing your voice instead of just music
Pack half the stuff you think you need and twice as much money.
A few extras: make sure you get your immunizations up-to-date, especially if you are going anywhere in Asia. Also if you are renting a car make sure you figure out the insurance requirements. Also health insurance.
Love the video!
(if anyone cares i vlog and that ) i’m legit going on a road trip around morocco next year and this video helped me soooo much thank you

Artsy videos and vlogs please love them both! p.s Max is like a big chocolate teddy bear ☺️ xox
To answer your question about morocco since you can’t have a drone I would love to see vlogs!
Where did you get your blouse from? It looks amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Tess. I love your channel, you are my biggest inspiration. after watching this i am inspired to Travel the world. Love From Namibia.
I never vacationed much because I always had dogs and leaving them at a kennel was expensive and I didn’t want to keep them caged. I found another great option. A house-sitter / pet-sitter. It evened saved me money over leaving my dogs at the kennel! Check it out! http://bit.ly/2ChmllL
I wish you used a bigger font when putting those lists on the screen. I had to pause and try to read it..just sayin
I love this video and the set up! so aesthetic and adorable! love! Nadia
such a high quality video with so much valuable information. you’re a godsend, Tess!!
Good to see you’re still uploading, I’ve been hiking around the UK on my own for some time now (I’m 19 almost 20 but I have 0 friends lol so my own company is as tiring as some of the walks) and when I did the wolds way I watched your video on it way back in 2017 perhaps. Keep up the good work, perhaps one day our paths will cross! God bless you

A typically informative video, your enthusiasm and passion makes it easier to take on board the information.
You are one of my biggest inspirations and I love your channel. I hope I get to meet you one day! ❤
I’d like to see both vlogs & artsy videos for your trip to Morocco
Hi Abbie, love your channel. I was wondering if you might do a follow up video when you’ve got the time of course about how to read a compass properly in conjunction with reading a map. I watched another youtube video about this skill and at first thought I’ve got the hang of this, then a few minutes later I felt like I needed a lie down! Rather complicated. It would really be appreciated.
Excellent video. I have wanted to make a video like this for some time now, but never would have made it as good as you have-especially the production quality and editing. I am going to put a link to this video on my blog. I get a lot of questions from rookie backpackers, and a video like this could really help out. Thanks and keep up the good work! I have enjoyed the rest of your videos as well!
Great video Abbie, crammed packed with awesome information. Cheers

JIMMY F. CHRISTMAS!!! Thought this was going to have to be posted on Reddit under r/HoldMyFeedingTube. She decides to cut it close rather than wait a couple extra seconds or run a bit faster to get some distance from the street. But hey, you only live once right?!?! Getting hit by a bus only builds character and is good for the stories one can tell the grandchildren.
Great advice for international travels! I forgot which video where Tasha got the cheap tix. I think it was $350′ which is a fantastic deal! Can you please link it here? Anthony Bourdain did a Singapore trip recently and the food court seem to be a must.
Me and some of my friends are going to take a big road trip when we’re 21 so ig we have to start planning lol
Thanks for showing streets.enjoyed the hit the lamp post to start the next part. good one. but, suggest, a little bit of narration, with slight humor, would have been better.
Well, I’ve had my share of walking today. First my own power walk moment and now walking round Manchester. I should be as fit as a fiddle by nightfall. ❤️❤️❤️♀️♀️♀️
+DaveCollins great video man! Did 5 days in the Rockies in June, planning 3 more in Texas this winter. Wish I would’ve watched this earlier!

Can you post a picture or video of the 12 foot tall Lincoln statue on Brazennose street, and the inscription written on it? Brazennose links Albert Square and Deansgate. Thank you!
Mantastic love it.All The Best!! I live in Congleton..Going down Deansgate Tomorrow. Great Vlog. People can get a better sense of direction when visiting.
Great video as always Abbie and really Great advice. Just one thing.. Can you at the beginning of your next video just remind us what noise level crossings make hilarious I couldn’t stop laughing had to rewind to that bit several times
