Testing Fitness Trackers For Accuracy Of Steps, Calories Burned | TODAY

Counting Every Step Leads to More Dedicated Walking Time. One study group was encouraged to walk more total daily steps. The other group was encouraged to walk for dedicated walking times, such as 10 minutes. They found that both groups increased their dedicated walking distance by about a mile a day. With the advent of data-storing pedometers, it is harder to defend pedometers that undercount steps during slow walking and intermittent, lifestyle activities.
We advocate for counting all steps, and then distinguishing between various types of steps (e.g., those taken at light, moderate, or vigorous intensity or those taken in continuous vs.The Omron also has several step-counting modes, distinguishing between aerobic steps (more than 60 steps per minute) and walking steps. The pedometer tracks how far you walk.EXAMPLE: At the end of the day you look at your pedometer and see 11,000 steps. You think back to your pace of the day and it was upbeat but you didn’t feel like you were racing.
So you go to the 3 mph column, scroll down to 11,000 steps, and you see you have exercised 138 minutes. To convert walking steps to miles using a manual calculation, walk one lap around a 400-meter track, counting your steps as you go. Then, multiply your total steps by 4 to arrive at a steps-per-mile calculation.
As an alternative, use the odometer in your car to drive and measure out 1 mile, and then walk the mile and count your total steps. The origin of the 10,000-step goal is unclear but may trace back to 1965, when a Japanese company began marketing a pedometer called Manpo-kei, which translates to “10,000 steps meter” in Japanese.Steps to km, steps to miles – Convert feet, miles or kilometers to steps – and vice versa. Plus, many tips for measuring your step-length and the truth about the 10,000 steps-a-day myth.
Jogging, walking, striving to work, hiking or strolling: most of the time, we know the length of the walk but not the number of steps it will take to cover it.A pedometer is a useful way to gauge whether you’re doing enough to live a healthy lifestyle. These handy devices will provide you with step-count data, can estimate your total distance travelled, and will give you an idea of your daily calorie expenditure. A pedometer’s hard data can motivate you to set, meet, and surpass daily movement goals.
A 2011 review concluded that adults over the age of 18 take anywhere from 4,000 to 18,000 steps per day. Another 2011 review looked at children.Pingko walking pedometer Why we like it: A step counter that does the most accurate one was dedicated solely to counting steps. Here, there’s steps, time, calories, total distance and.In fact, Argus was just as accurate at counting steps as the CSX Walking 3D Pedometer and the Fitbit Zip (two of the most accurate clip-on pedometers we tested.) [ Wearables vs.
The best pedometer apps not only count the steps taken and distance traveled but also monitor and motivate you to achieve your daily walking goals. With the ability to track your daily movement and re-enthusiast you for physical activities, pedometer apps for Android are your perfect companion to improve your fitness more practically. Thus, we should get a step counter or pedometer watch to assess how active or sedentary our lifestyle is conveniently 24/7. I have created the Best Fitness Tracker Watch to help you decide. I have shortlisted the top 10 pedometer watches in the market to cut your research and reading time.
There’s nothing magical about the number 10,000. In fact, the idea of walking at least 10,000 steps a day for health goes back decades to a marketing campaign launched in Japan to promote a pedometer.Experts advise walking more than the 10,000 steps a day recommended by your fitness tracker, but expect diminishing returns.
Try to walk more than 10,000, but expect diminishing returns.

I wonder if they changed the settings of height and weight for the calorie part, didn’t hear anything about that in the video.

how can you burn 3.7k calories for 20k steps, when i only burn around 500 calories for 10k steps.
I think the number of calories you burned from your walks is overstated. Pkease check your figures. Thanks.
correct me if i am wrong but you dont burn 3k-4k of calories just for the Walk. this cant be true and working. but if you have like a 2k intake of calories + the amount of burned calories, right? i mean you can burn up to 300calories in about 45-60min:-)

It tracks the pulse rate and this dude put multiple at the time so it obviously won’t work right

If you are more professional, and need to track overall health, a “smartwatch” could just be your thing. You want some best smart watches for men 2018? Just watch this video before you buy. https://youtu.be/dXNFP7ZvPOM
They were off by a little but honestly, 100 steps + and 40ish calories difference don’t really matter.
Just a piece of motivation while paying a huge to Fitbit, Garmin or any other of those premium brands.
You can’t just simplify the obesity rates in one region being higher in another because of number of bloody steps taken. Far more socio and economic factors involved.
does it comes as in the form of band, or does need somthing with in the form of nano and allow to experience the day of walk, week and month target of walk how much distance u cover and that should not affect radiations as cell phone we alerady fed up with that so does u have anything else
I haven’t quite reached 10,000 steps yet. I’m only at half of that. Plus I only walk three days a week. My weight loss is not that great, in fact i am gaining weight. But my blood pressure and blood sugar levels are improving as I am a Type 2 diabetic and I have hypertension.
This isn’t really about 10,000 steps a day. It’s yak-yak nonsense.
a 10 dollar wrist band is no difrent from these over priced machines,,,people are so easily taken
He sets up a false standard right at the beginning, most consumers with common sense DON’T expect their fitness tracker to get 100% correct down to the step, much less accurately measure your calories burned. That’s why you need a lab full of equipment to get an accurate number. It’s not a super science, of course something on your WRIST won’t be perfect measuring how many steps you take with your FEET. And still, I didn’t thoroughly test it but I was surprised when casually walking and looking at my Charge 2 how accurate it was at measuring my steps. And these devices do say that they should be a certain distance from the wrist muscle, about 2 inches, so in hindsight OF COURSE this wasn’t a methodologically rigorous and valid study. Each device should be tested in the closest circumstances possible. Which is funny considering it is from a professional news organization.

I walked 3 miles a day at brisk pace I also controlled my diet eating a 2 meals a day only no junk food at all..I lost one stone in 3 weeks
Working maintenance at a 90 acre 4 million Sqft hospital I walk 17k to 22k steps a day in an 8 hour period
Guys, let me tell you why they were so off. Fitbit calculates your heart rate burn as well as your energy burned from exercise. So if the Fitbit calculates you burned 45 calories it’s probably because you burned 20 calories from exercise and 20 calories from just living and breathing. Now there is gonna be a little bit inaccuracy, but just subtract 100-200 from your total calorie burn.
I was born with spina bifida, have needed a wheelchair. Ut-uh.
Treadmill is designed to give calories burned for human bodies at rest( no transnational motion). Fitness trackers are designed for moving bodies. During actual walking, energy is also required to translating body. So both are correct.
My girlfriend just bought me a Fitbit charge 2. It says I burned 700 calories and I only drove to work
Thats like nearly 22 miles a day
Where on earth did you find the time to walk over 21 miles in a day?
100 percent accurate,,cmon,,,these things are a joke,,,,i have tried several from friends and all extremely overestimate calories,,i maintain at 2000 calories,,lose at 1500 and gain at 2500,,,these things all have me above 3000 calories,,the weight would be falling off me,,the public is soooooooooooo gullible
Hey, I am amazed how you are burning so many calories per day. I walk 10k steps and only burn around 400 calories only. Are you working out along with walking?
Fitbit Alta HR counts my arm movements as steps when I sit at the desk all day and sleep. I got 3,000 steps by doing nothing.
Now the numbers revealed. Just add or subtruct those numbers from the accurate ones to your fitness tracker, then wah-lah.
Yes I started walking 3.5 weeks ago after a guy lost 2 pounds walking 2500 steps a day for a week. I can do 12500. I’m losing 3.5 pounds a day and it’s not a struggle anymore, plus I’m trying do lower my diabetes numbers which have gotten better with lower carbs eating
I know people who burn 1000 calories measured by smart watches then eat a 500 calories cake then wonder why they are still fat:D
People who rely on fitness trackers to measure the distance they have covered may be in for a nasty surprise. A recent study warned that many of these gadgets failed to do their job of accurately keeping track of how far the user had run.
Glad I saw this, I wanted to know the best tracker to purchase and the answer is none. Thank you❤
Every day I walked around this park fifteen times which was around 40 k steps for around five hours.
Recently snapped my foot in two so can’t do this but this video is really good motivator
I got 16k steps just by going to the mall and holding bags for my girlfriend
your Fitbit is broken! that much calories burnt. how are you alive.
I have to walk nine kilometers daily and I am very upset because I am not getting any sleep or my stomach is fine… and I am a teacher my diet also tells my stomach.

I’m addicted 2marijuana to ease my moods and then I discovered walking an hour a day it helps to keep my mind and body relaks and now I quit smoking.
I walk about three miles a day on average. I don’t count my steps, but it is good exercise.
I used to play videogames at least 8 hours a day for years without any activities but I have changed a lot now I walk at least 13000 steps a day and I do push ups, planks, body building exercises with my 20kg dumbbells. And I only play video games on weekends . My life is much much better than it used to be
It’s helped me lose weight (more than 10 kgs) in about 8-9months’ time. And also, it’s a great stress buster, once u get through the “too tired” to walk phase. Diet is the other 10k. Hehe.
I do this 5 days a week with my sister. We keep weight off and always see so many people on our walk it’s great. Joggers follow walkers people on bikes its great
I get at least 6,000 steps a day 6 out of 7 days and I take the stairs
You should try to do research on Samsung health app If you haven’t. I think It’ll make a huge difference compared to the iPhone. I’ve had both android & iOS phones.
I’m a landscaper i do alot of walking, i recently got a fitbit and was surprised i walk around 15,000 steps a day yet I’m still 260 lbs
I walks 10k a day since im 16 and now im 23.It works and it keep my body in shape
I walk 22k steps a day at work…i also pick up boxes and stack them ranging from 8 oz50 lbs. Im just a reg ass dude no ultimate health benefits. I will say that my digestive system stays pretty regular though. As a burn about 5000 caleries a shift at work with usually last me 8 hours
10,000 meters, 100 sit-ups, 100 pushups, 100 squats, every single day!”
I’m doing 25-40k daily 5x a week, managed to drop 100lbs in 10 months, which is my end weight-loss goal. Still eating my same diet (mostly pizza). Definitely recommend
I try to achieve 10k a day but it’s too much on my legs when i do hit that Mark so i normally do 5 to 8k
have you ever tested out the accuracy of xiaomi mi band 2.., although it may sound cheap but its accurate. i walked 512 steps and as per the smartwatch, i burned 21 calories!!. so pretty close…do checkout, i think great value for money.
Yep walking is great I lost 61lb whilst pregnant! Walking around 4.5 miles, 5-6 days a week for about 10 months.
Fitbit cheats! I threw away mine and bought a cheaper one. If you walk around walmart and dont move that hand with the tracker.,…it will not register…so make sure u move that. Fitbit is crazy coz it will count even when ur in your moving car hahaha. My tracker is cheap and it never works if I try to cheat like moving my hand up and down while sitting.
I sit during the day and lay around at night after work. If I take the position that walking around is simply off the table, then is lying around healthier than sitting around?
Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing!! Look forward to your July 2020 videos!!
Bought the new Fitbit Charge 4 brand new and it doesnt work. Such a waste of money
interesting points,if anyone else is searching for weight loss pill try Slim Tactic Formula (do a search on google )? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got great results with it.
That is amazing! I hardly can do 10k steps. This is motivating
No way walking burns that many calories. That Fitbit is wrong, even running doesn’t burn that much.
I do 30,000 steps a day at work and I’ve still got a beer belly
Did you say walking 10000 steps a day will help to increase intelligence by 2 % every day or 2% in a month or year with 10 k walk per day?
Is the cdc playing god again? Last i heard scientists tell you life evolved, so did those prehistoric folks subscribe to anything the cdc says? “scientific fact” is what de grasse tyson says about life evolving. so those must doctors at the cdc? who r known to play “god”, well everyone evolved(?)
I walk and cycle 60 to a 100 miles every week, and I am 60 years old, summer and winter.
It’s working, I think it has both physicall and mentall health benefit s
Walking alone is not enough. A diet where calories eaten are less than you burn is also needed to lose weight.
My LG Sport steps are out by 1000+.. Gears and and Note 8 say 869 steps. LG says 1890 steps. That’s a huge amount!
I walked alot during boot camp..and I lost hella weight..I went from a size 8 to a 4 in two months!
Love my Galaxy Fit!⭐️⭐️> imgs.love/SGalaxyFit?2に Best fitness bracelet I’ve owned. Links to Samsung app! Bought cheaper, kept losing them. Great strap! Dropped it recently, spent the night in the dog’s water dish! Still runs Great! Never lost the charge!
Calories burning rate is too high in your App in 2000 steps only 100 calories is burning
Is that photo at 0:20 the top stock photo of a couch potato? I mean, if you went to one of those stock photo sites and searched for “couch potato”, would that dude’s picture be the top result? If not, it should. Dude’s torso looks like a cushion with a face on top made out of another cushion.
That’s not a lot of steps I must inform you lazy people. Double that at least
Somebody help me pick my JAW OFF THE COMPUTER DESK….Bro 8,000 steps for a month I have failed 3 times by a day or 2. No excuse now I’m on it… My goal. 8,000 per day for 30 days. You just light the match… 20,000 is insane unless you are a postman. I’m up between 5am-8am squeezing in my 3-4 mile jog/walk so I’m at 6k-8k steps before work. When I don’t do it I only average 3K-5K for that day. No more excuses. Thanks. Simple Man.
Seriously…. you don’t „walk“ 10.2 miles in under 2 hours you run them! I walk pretty fast and can walk approx. 3 miles per hour.
They aren’t made to be 100% accurate. Also, having the trackers in different spots on the wrist, leads to inaccuracy.
3036 steps vs 3140 is only 4% difference. What are you talking about, that’s extremely close.
They need to develop a product like the one the man was using on the treadmill. Just not that big. I like my Fitbit. It motivates me to do better each time. I’m not bothered by the fact that it’s not always 100%, I just have to make sure I do better every time. Then the true test will be the results. Eat healthy and work past your comfort level. Go beyond. My main use for the Fitbit is the heart rate tracker. This helps me a lot. I’ve noticed that when I don’t workout for about a week, my resting heart rate drops to a low 70s. But when I begin working out, my heart rate is much higher, which is what I want since it helps in burning more fat even when I’m not working out. I lost 35 lbs in 35 days while I’m on a low carb diet and working out. I was losing weight even when I wasn’t working out. You have to train your body to burn fat all the time. The point of this unnecessarily long comment is that as long as you are pushing harder every time, you will always continue to lose weight, regardless of your device’s inaccuracy. That is if you aren’t stuffing yourself all the time. At least you know that whatever your device reads you did much better than what its numbers are.
Great concise video, walking is such an underrated form of exercise. Worth pointing out though, that the kind of calorie deficit you were in for that week isn’t really sustainable or healthy for the long run. Too much of a deficit for too long can mess up your matabolism and for women mess up hormones etc.
I started walking when I was a baby.59 yrs later I’m still doing it!
Haha, the calories are totally wrong. 20000 steps burn around 1000 kcal for a male, 80 kg. 7000 kcal are 1 kg body fat.
I do a big 90 minute to 2 hour walk daily at a fast pace with intervals of jogging. I started during the lock down. I had Osteo arthritis of my knees and it was very painful in the beginning. I forced myself to walk further and further weekly even with pain. With proper diet my pain is gone now and I’m happy to say I can feel my improved cardiorespiratory fitness. When I’m walking now it feels like I’m a well running machine full of energy and breathing easy. My legs feel good. I love it!!!
Even your own body burns calories differently doing the same exercise as the day prior.
Stress levels could change it.
A slight infection.
Quality of Sleep.
Etc
Even the most accurate would still be off.
What’s important is CONSISTENCY of results.
That way you can work out the TRENDS, over short term, mid term and long term.
I burnt approx 1500 calories with 27000 steps. I want your calorie burning calculator
Pokemon go is the best pedometer in the world and I hatched a 10k egg daily.
Very useful video thank you. Any chance of repeating the experiment with the Apple Watch please?
for me accuracy doesnt really matter….i am at around 3.5K steps daily right now which i know is definitely an inactive lifestyle…..i aim to take it to atleast 8-9K…who cares if the accuracy is off by 500 steps? the goal is to improve your health.
I walked 26,000 steps today and MyFitnessPal says I only burned 1143 calories. Are you speed walking or slow jogging at some point?
The calories of fitness trackers might include metabolic calories with exercise calories.
Excellent video! I am also a serious walker and walk at least 10 km a day. I have found walking to be the most effective way to lose weight and get back in shape. I tried HIIT cardio exercises but I was not having the same results, because I overdid it and my body was not responding. Walking is simple and effective.
Walking is good, go outside relive depression and look at nature, download the step calculater on ur phone
One day I was running and used Nike + app to measure my distance and it measured 5.7km. Next day I ran same distance and used another app and it measured 4.5km. actually the distance was exactly 5km.
Bullshit. I walk between 15,000 and 25,000 steps a day yet I’m so fat
The company’s say the trackers are designed to motivate? Wtf
I used to walk a lot but my current job keeps me indoors a lot.
I did basically 10K over the summer last year every day for two months. I didn’t see a drastic weight difference. I would say that it’s actually way easier than it seems. You just go to the mall and hang out there for a good four hours with friends and you’re gold.
You dont sell that device just to motivate, I am not a kid, I want accuracy
I am trying to get back on track for weight loss and using walking as exercise. I am 5’10” and 280 lbs. Really for me, 10,000 steps is a minimum. I try to do 15,000 at least. My goal is 20,000. Did 21,600 yesterday. But that’s a lot, 9 miles.
Another minus about walking concerns weather. Now it’s late summer and hot as hell. Then there is rain. One solution is mall walking but one ends up doing loops around the hallways which gets boring and pendantic after a while.
I can only take 2,000 steps per day in just 1 month from 210klo i am now 90klo
matt lauer, that slimeball. i wonder who got his sticky desk he used to bang firls on.
I walked 30000 steps everyday for an year. I started from India and have reached Antarctica now
I manage to get a 500 600m elevation gain when im walking and have been walking 20km and cycling around 20km a day as well
I take 5,000 to 8,000 steps a day, and I am 14. It keeps my legs slim, and since I eat a lot, it burns lots of kcals.
This is virtually impossible in the winter or very hot summer.
Wow, I walked 19,000 steps just the other day but Google fit is telling me I only burned 1,400 cals approx. I’m 5’7″ and currently 225 lbs. I need to get one of these watches ASAP!!!
* all while pushing a buggy with a two year old.
Well done, but did you f burn that amount of calories. Look up,the accuracy of a fit bit. Get a my zone..
I’ve managed about 20000 steps per day so far this year, recorded that is.
I’d imagine I’m at 25000+ average however.
Cutting back in milk and cookies helped alot lol.
This obviously doesn’t include the fact that many of those steps are carrying baggage, as in a backpack full of supplies and a rifle.
Or doing work, like cutting, carrying wood, yard tools etc
I feel so fat compared to my 20s lol
(In my mid 30s.
Don’t listen to people that say walking is not beneficial, get up and move and limit the rubbish you place in your mouth.
You want to lose weight? Well eat less, eat healthily and move, it really is as simple as that.
My gear S3 watch said I walked 2 times as far as I really did according to Google maps.
My phone also recorded a 6.7 mile walk in a reality 4.2 mile walk. Not even close
I wonder what he did to get that many steps other than just walk. I mean I try to walk more often for my errands and I walk my dog a lot and I get about 10k a day. I try to park as far away from the store as possible to add steps. I also walk stairs vs elevator. But it’s still difficult to get 10k some days, much less 25k.
10k steps a day mixed with a change in diet took me from a 24 stone land whale to a 12 stone fit guy in 13 months and it wasn’t even difficult. Walking has to be the best exercise ever IMO
I walk between 20 and 30,000 steps per day but my fitness app says that’s only 1,400 calories. I need to get what you got so I can get more accurate.
I walk only 10000 -or 15000 steps per day, 6 days a week. I love walking too
Imma gonna call BS. Your body can’t metabolize 7 pounds of fat in a week.
Wait, I’m confused. You had a deficit of 13k calories for the week and you lost 7lbs? I thought 1lb = 3,500 cals? Apologies if I misunderstood.
If you liked this video, I one up’ed it to +30,000 Steps A Day / Over 100 Miles In 7 days. If you want to check it out, here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjyDYG90JCM
Yeah this is wrong it dont the fitbit accounts for what your body normally burns to not only what you burn through excercise.
I’m a proponent of bodyweight exercises and walking. The more we move our bodies, the healthier we are. Average walking speed studies show that an older person’s pace, along with their age and gender, can predict their life expectancy just as well as the complex battery of other health indicators such as blood pressure, body mass index, chronic conditions, and smoking history. https://www.facebook.com/walkingforhealthandfitnessprogram/

The miles per hour and distance does not equal the amount of calories he has showing. A brisk walk will give you 360 calories per hour. For a 3 hour walk he’s showing 3941 calories. If he were burning that much per day he’d be a stick on the food he’s showing
you eat 2000 calories and spend 3500 calories. That is huge difference and definitely not a healthy one
From where I reside, it’s hard to walk outdoors because of heat. Rangsit
now in the fitness community everyone thinks that they have to do high intensity interval training or some kind of hard intensity cardio to get shredded. But something as simple as eating in a caloric deficit and walking 5 plus miles a day can get you there as well. Personally I hate hard cardio of any kind, and just cannot stick with it it depresses me.
Since January 18th of 2018 I’ve walked over 1500 miles. Lost 50 pounds, and got my blood pressure under control. Oh, I’m 53.
Should I do this continuously??. Can I take a break in between
Laughing my ass off you seem to think 10000 steps suitable for persons for every weight there is for every item there is as a different amount of steps you need so my daily intake with steps is between 12000 and 20000 Bath on that I feel steady enough which it only takes less than 3 hours a day
How can you walk 20k+ steps a day and but over 1000 calories. I walk 20k steps and I only get to around 700 burned calories.
m walking 10000 steps even 12000 steps per day almost 8 km since 4 april 2019 to now 5 august 2019.. and trust me i lost 7 kg straight in 4 months. having light diner helped me a lot to achieve this.. b4 i was 72+ but now i am 65 n i keep counting my weight everyday, which helps me to keep on motivated.
Good for you man! Walking is really simple and effective,
Here I am with my meager 8,000 step goal lol.
How did your muscle mass increase, were you doing resistance exercises as well?
Iv lost 2 half stone in 6 months so far walking 10 to 12000 steps a day but some days I dont walk I got half a stone to go before I reach my target of 12 stone the plus side of walking and not running no injuries
Try Leslie Sansone Jenny Ford marching with moves and Lucy Wyndham workouts too Phala B fitness. May as well have fun while doing it
I use a Wheelchair, and Exercise when I can. I don’t worry about Calories burn, or anything like that. I just Exercise, because I know that I am doing my Body good.
My mobile phone step program recommends 8200 steps/day or about 500 cal burn or 70 min walk!
I all ready lost few ponds.
But be care full with sweets, can cancel out any calorie burned easy.
The foods are under calories, and the watches/trackers are over calories, soo unfair
10000 steps adds to about 4.5 miles.. Doing that everyday, for past 2 months now. Great fat burner. Drains one out by the end of the session…
try walking 20’000 steps up hill instead on a flat ground and see what happens
I move my hand up and down side to side 10000 every two days for one simple task.
But if the inaccuracy is consistent… it’s still usable. Let’s say every day you walk 5000 steps but the tracker says 6000, well you know if you step more or less the next day you still have a base to compare from
I walk three times a day for 45 mins. Each about 3 miles. I’m battling PARKINSON it HELPS.
This is the kind of research everyone should want to fund helps everyone without expectation of profit clearly a group of dedicated professionals
I guess you have to set your goal for 12K to be certain you’ve obtained 10K☺️
I rode my motorbike for 8km & my smartband shows i took 1000 steps! Then I rode 250km & it says 15,000 steps! Met my target in a few hours lol!
I make sure I walk 30mims per day
Not to lose weight but for self esteem purposes and brain function
It’s the reason I’m off depression medication
It’s free no gym needed
The body fat loss through walking is amazing, if you walk for over 10.000 steps a day and watch your diet, way better than running and much more enjoyable. Most channels make the mistake of just talking about weight loss, but the important thing is not weight loss, but fat loss and muscle gain.
All thanks to kelvinhack7 on IG for this grate work. My IPhone watch was Recover in less then 5hours
You can chat him up +1 (702) 886-7124
Thank you kelvin
Wooow… so they’re saying it is to motivate and encourage healthy lifestyles.. but then people will go and eat what they burnt thinking that they are on track with their calories for the day… disgusting
I’m gonna do this for a week too now! But my personal goal is to get 25,000 steps a day for one week. I managed to get over 25,000 steps today which was about 3hours and 40minutes of walking. That’s alot yes! But I did it while I was watching TV on the treadmill and while I was outside going to another city. Everyone can do it it’s not that hard and it will really help alot!
Dude.. I like what you’re doing, I’m aiming myself to walk 7-12 per day for the next 30 days ( rest days every 5 days ), question tho since I’m new to this and at the minute I’m finding it hard to hit “10miles”, did you walk all in one go? Or did you break the milages/steps during the day?
I love such crisp, no-nonsense and objective reviews… Thanks a lot!!
Walking is good exercise. No doubt about it. Try walking to the grocery store with a backpack and carrying your groceries home, if possible. Also, walk to get coffee if you can. It can also make a great meditation if you try to maintain awareness of your footsteps.
U r straight to the point. Unlike other youtubers who try to beat around the bush.
I walk 20,000+ steps but I dont burn all of these calories?? Is it related to the application used in calculation! Or to the walking style..
Just finished up 90000 steps today. Ended up in ohio, need a ride home.
The difference in calorie burn: Could it be because the fitness trackers assumed he was walking on the streets and not being aided by the backward motion of the treadmill? And what do we know about the accuracy of that absurd face device in the first place?
The accuracy improves when you plug or change the advanced settings like height, weight, and your stride. You can’t just have the devices set to zero aka autopilot.
I will be honest. I tried 10000 steps for a momth. To reach the goal I regularly walked and slowly improved my average. I lost of weight during that time.
Heres the stat of my month.
Average speed 3.1 mph.
Walked 151 miles.
Steps 301732.
But after that i felt pain in my knees. Maybe i shouldve just taken some rest instead i kept pushing for 10000 steps. A huge mistake. I injured my right knees. I needed 3 months to recover but needed 6 momths to start any exercises. And in that period. I gained more weight than i lost and also suffered from depression.
So my advice is 10000 steps is not for everyone. For me 7-8k works wonders. It would be best if you talk with your doctor first.
Who really expects them to be 100% accurate. They are accurate enough to motivate and that is what counts.
Super walking newbie here. Started walking 10K daily since 3/25/19. Bp @ start of walking 135/85. By today 4/12/19 is 117/72.
Yeah, I’d say it works.
10k steps in 30mins….HOW FAST ARE WE WALKING! It takes me 1h 30 at least:(
An IT idiot trying to break into fitness, stay where you are buddy you couldn’t walk 5 steps without a piece of tech to guide you.
You don’t burn 4600 plus cals walking 16 miles, a 200 pound person burns around 110 per mile, so that’s less than 2000,your fit bit is way out
3,921 calories walking 11.58 miles? How come? We only burn about 100 calories per mile.
Try Samsung Health It’s way more accurate than Apple Health.
So, I’ve probably gotten more exercise than my iphone registered! That’s a good thing!!
Alot of these work based on information such as height or weight
If you believe this bollox, you probably believe in God and are very dumb.
i used this app for android, and i think it’s the best one ever: http://www.mediafire.com/file/xzy3838nwwxjl8z/Pedometer_app.apk
omg my legs hurt i walked 18k steps today no i am not joking 11,8 kilometer
Great video! So simple. + what’s the song at the end of the video?
Keep it up
Simple and inspirational. Going to order a Fitbit now and get started on this. Thanks!
10000 steps generally take 2 hours. So 20000 steps is approx 4 hours! Many people just dont have that kinda time every day! Thats the only issue with walking.
I don’t think i’ve ever had under 10k steps in the time i’ve owned a watch that counts steps.
This is exactly what I talk about in this video:
