If you look at Martin Berkhans formula for the Natty Limit, BMI charts actually works out consistently (just shifted higher into the overweight range). The maximum amount of body mass you can gain with a bodyfat of 10% would end up with a BMI around 25-26(Just slightly overweight), or with 20% bodyfat a BMI around 28-29 (Just below obese). So for the guy to have it measured as straight up obese, he either have a high bodyfat percentage, or on roids, or both.
BMI = BULLSHIT, Just eat clean, exercise and be active and as long as you can carry on with your weight with no health problems so why give a fuck about BMI.

I’m 14 and 12 stone, I’m not fat but a pretty muscular build. My family told me I am a healthy person. I drink water daily and don’t each much junk food.

The problem is that BMI is absolutely inaccurate, dangerous, and outdated. Even the inventor said not to use it this way.
Those “co morbidities” have an acknowledged primary cause of stress, which many doctors ignore as a cause when a patient is over weight.
Restrictive eating, or dieting, during pregnancy unless they need to avoid salts, actually have diabetes or an allergy etc. is extremely dangerous and not advisable. Even my mother (RD) couldn’t believe what she was hearing when I sent this to her.
Bariatric, or gastric bypass surgery is dangerous, often unnecessary, and completely inappropriate in postpartum. It’s actually disgusting, and unethical they would even suggest this.
The major stressor, if Swedish even cares, for pregnant people of size, is the medical fatphobia, and obsession over our BMI as an indicator of health, when they should be focusing on overall health, not just weight.
Stress from this, even for non-pregnant people of size, is a constant struggle. Our most basic medical concerns are overlooked for our weight. I am an asthmatic, have been since childhood (my beanpole years), but it’s my weight apparently. (It’s not). I just had to ask my PCP to remove an inaccurate, and unnecessary “diagnosis” from my chart because a doctor felt that discussing my weight during a visit about getting a shot of high strength Tylenol for a period migraine (which I have been using to treat them since I was 10 and 130 pounds lighter…) meant she could not only give me completely dangerous advice (such as to use Noom, which is a diet despite its claims, and not safe for anyone), but spend most of the visit discussing my weight instead of my actual medical concern. Medical professionals need to challenge their preconceived biases, and how they interact with people of size. What is healthy for you is not always healthy for another person, and BMI is NEVER an indicator for health.
You can be fat and pregnant. Your pregnancy can be healthy, if you are practicing what is healthy for you.
I can see I will have a fight ahead of me with Swedish on this when I have kids, which is unfortunate as I should be focusing on the joy that is parenthood and not advocating for myself to medical professionals who should know better + are unable to move away from outdated medical thinking. Yeah, I too am guilty of jumping from weight loss plan to others as well, I think that I must have tested every weight-loss system that was available, but in the end not one of them helped me to reduce and maintain the weight off. I am 11 years old and 140 pounds. Which is pretty overwheight for my age. But im not even close to becoming obese, because my body fat is all in my theighs and calfs. While my stomach is pretty thin. So i would say I am no where to being obese. But my pounds could go down I am gonna be doing workouts everyday its my 3rd day so far and I dont have a scale, I just go off of what my doctors says lol. If I am being totally honest Im pretty sure obese is fat in your stomach, neck, face. For example you have really big muscles. And your basically “obese” your not obese you just have a healthy muscle and body. I think, I am not a scientist. Its about body fat not muscles.

A health care professional who places emphasis exclusively on BMI is someone who, in my humble opinion, is shortsighted. The BMI does not take into account muscle to fat ratio nor does it respect the fact that many people may actually be healthier and look and feel better at a BMI above 25.

I think there should a lot more mentioned about the generality of BMI as an indicator of “healthy” weight. It is casually mentioned most of the time that BMI isn’t necessarily an accurate measurement of body fat & a “healthy” weight, but especially in this day & age in which people are getting larger at a frightening rate-BMI is almost obsolete. For example, I’m 5′ 11.5″, 47 years old, & weight 200-205, but I have a 31.5″ waist. Getting down to 181 lbs. would be almost impossible for me, unless I hack off a limb. Now I realize that I’m somewhat of an outlier, but not THAT unusual of a case, & body type. This can risk body image issues in young people as well.
