A review of OESH shoes, which have an innovative midsole design for natural walking motion. The lightweight, minimalist La Vida 2.0 works well.OESH – A Women’s Shoe for Knee and Foot Pain? This is an update to a review done in 2012 on OESH shoes. OESH is an interesting company.
Started by Dr. Casey Kerrigan a Harvard physiatrist and researcher, the shoes are based on Dr. Kerrigan’s research findings – in particular on the effect of certain shoe attributes and the affect they have on the knee.Last year, I had the opportunity to check out a pair of OESH’s sandals — the Artemis, which sport a 3D printed sole and fabric adjustable straps. We’re not here to talk about these today, but I will give them a shoutout: they’ve held up for a full year and are an absolute staple in my warm-weather wardrobe, doing quite well on hikes in the park and day-to-day wear.

All opinions are my own. OESH is the word SHOE turned upside down and inside out which is exactly what OESH Shoes is doing in the footwear industry. OESH Shoes was founded by Dr.
Casey Kerrigan, who studied and analyzed gait for over 20 years and after growing frustrated by the shoes that were available, she created her own.The following are dates that I have attempted to contact the company asking when I will receive my shoes April 19, 2019, May 14, 2019, June 24, 2019, July 13, 2019, August 16, 2019, September 17.Oesh is an American brand with a unique take on shoes. Many of the shoes are 3d printed in-house, all are vegan, and much scientific research has gone into the creation of them.
My first experience with Oesh was testing out the Dream Flat. This is.The Oesh Dream flat in Essential Black. I’ve been hearing about these Oesh flats for a while in the Minimalist Shoe group on FB, and as I am all about combining fashion and function (i.e. foot function) I decided I needed to check them out for myself!
About. Oesh (pronounced like the first syllable in ocean) has been producing zero drop sandals and sneakers since 2011, but added the Dream.I guess that’s just the difference in the way the OESH soles are squishy firm.
At the same time that I ordered the OESH shoes, I also ordered 8 pairs of Baretraps, 2 Oofahs, 1 fit flop, 2 sketchers and a couple of other kinds and have returned all but 1 Baretrap pair and the OESH pair. I guess that says a lot about your OESH sandals.OESH Shoes are the only footwear you can buy that has been designed exclusively on principles of peer-reviewed medical science.
If you don’t think they now represent OESH’s views, then it would be appropriate for OESH shoes to publicly acknowledge their mistake and why they were wrong in making such claims. That may be a first step toward a reconciliation of OESH shoes with the international podiatric medical community. Otherwise, Paul, you are wasting your breath here.

I know they’re supposed to have a wide toe form, but to me on photos or videos I’ve seen it always kinda looks as if the band restricts the space, because you’re toe can’t be direeectly next to it cause it needs space for the thickness /”hight” of the toe. Does that make sense? And then also the band is placed a little bit on the inside so if you look at the bottom of the sole it looks really wide but that’s not the space the feet are going to have, it’s a bitt narrower.
Is it still wide enough to not constrict the toes?
Thanks for a good review of your shoes and your personal experiences with them and the company. Very helpful and informative!
I just placed an order! I’m in love with my Prios so it was logical to purchase my sandals from them too. Also how does the 5,000 mile guarantee work? How do they know if you’ve done 5,000 miles or not?
Hi! I’ve just recently found these shoes online. I had a pair of chacos for a short while before they were stolen in a pull-string bag. I wasn’t able to break them in at all, but still felt like they were pretty clunky and the crazy arch support wasn’t really needed. Also, the footbed seems to be a little more comfortable than chacos. Would you possibly be able to compare the z-trails to them, or confirm my assumptions? Your video was one of the last pushes I’ve needed to finally want to try a pair, and they’re 50% off right now. Thanks!
Great review, thanks. The Thong Song comment took it to the next level!
My clouds were dead after 3 years:-D. They even have a whole:-D. Yours look brand new…
I have owned a pair for 2 + years and I am in my late 50’s and overweight. I have worn them on holidays all over Italy walking on cobbled streets, up and down stone stairs and on pebble beaches. I wear them as everyday footwear here on The Gold Coast in Australia instead of bulky sandals or thongs (Jandals in NZ). They are so comfortable and easy to pack. They are also great for business trips to throw into a carry on bag. They are however no good if you are one of those people who slide and scrape your feet along the ground each step instead of lifting them and taking a step. The fronts will fold under.
Great review!
A question. Since all your footwear seems to be “barefoot” shoes, are you or have you considered trying just plain barefoot walking as well?
After a while walking in barefoot shoes your feet should be tougher and up for the challenge:)
Great comparison it helps a good bit for deciding too! I love how you refer to the toe lock strap or whatever as a “thong” it’s so great!
