Citric acid could have the negative side effects you talked about. It would also contribute to the taste.
Hello Sunshine & Bill! Great video! Have a wonderful weekend! Be safe! God bless!
I need to try more Nuun. I am usually not patient enough or like my water colder, but eh.
I’ve been wanting to try Nuun Rest, but I haven’t really enjoyed Nuun overall. The flavors are off to me and they take forever to dissolve! I recently received a sample of UCan Hydrate at a race and that was much better tasting and immediately dissolves.
Glad you are doing this, I am confused about all the different formulas
Thank you very much for a very objective review. It’s good to hear someone tell it like it is. I’ve personally been looking for a good electrolyte supplement for hiking. I tried the noon tablets a while back, but had forgotten all about them until recently. So doing research to find what would work best and travel the lightest on a backpack.
Unfortunately it is quite hard to find electrolyte hydration that doesn’t contain some form of sugar.
1G sugar and 2G of carbs per serving. How many servings do we need a day?
Perfect timing on this video! I’ve been wanting to add a little something to my water everyday as well as an after work out and/or during workout drink (especially those long runs). I am going to have to go grab some Nuun!
I used to get really dehydrated on my long rides when I only used water. When I started using Nuun that stopped happening. So.. to recap; it has the perfect balance of electrolytes, it’s cheap, it tastes good, it’s easy to carry and dissolve.. but one time this guy got waterlogged during a jog so now he hates it. He sounds super picky, but what do you expect from a guy named Taren?
Bill and I do bouillion cubes, bone broth, electrolyte drops, pickles, walnuts, spinach, mct oil, lots of water from our RO system which includes magnesium & calcium add on cartridge, but we are curious what things you do to avoid the Keto Flu and keep your electrolytes up while doing Keto. We will add a Nuun Tablet in now and then just for some variety and to help with days when you may want more than just a glass of water.
Training for a Grand Fondo, and his be isn’t very technical in that I want to know if the product has any value Ned place in training. While he gave the information, this bad is more of highly personal reason and comes from a highly specific event. If he had experienced the burping and stomach churning each time or frequently, that. Would be a valueadded thing to point out. SO all in all. His video was helpful, but the end takes away for the value of the review.
What`s a good electrolyte that won`t bother my sensitive stomach. Any good alternative to Nuun? Thx
Any update? Looking some something for my bug-out-bag. Single serving powder or tablet
The new Nuun formulations are kosher certified so I can now buy some.
I picked up a few tubes between a race expo and my local running store and drink a fair bit of the stuff now. I have only tried the sport formula both at home and on the run. At Pittsburgh Marathon expo a representative at Nuun’s booth pointed out that the tablets can be broken in half if your bottle is closer to 8 oz than 16.
For flavors, i like watermelon if I am not also having sport beans (too much watermelon), lime if I don’t mind caffeine and pink lemonade whenever.
This was great! I use cream of tartar mixed in water ( for potassium), I use pink Himalayan salt and take magnesium supplement at bedtime.
Could it be the sodium bicarbonate making your stomach do that?
sugar actually dehydrates you. Sometimes, you just shouldn’t work out on a completely empty stomach. For me, humid weather itself can make me sick. I just can’t work out a lot in the heat.
Haha, just came across you promoting this video in a forum post from 3 years ago!! I’ve been getting into Elecrtolyte tabs recently, mostly using the High5 ones… I haven’t had any problems with them so far, apart from a little bit of internal sloshing only if I drink too much just before a run (though I get the same from drinking just water before a run too)!
It’s awesome to see how far your channel has come in 3 years!
If you drink too much water, your stomach will “blow up”. It’s unfair to blame the product. I use it all the time for cycling and I don’t get dehydrated anymore. I used to get waterlogged and dehydrated at the same time which is unpleasant. Nuun changed all that.
I’ve heard of some people who have stomach issues will put nuun in a container with water and let it completely fizz out the night before. That way it’s totally flat prior to filling up your water bottles, hydration packs etc. I’ve personally used them for runs between 10-25km and had no issues with 1 tab per litre. They are super watered down and I find just helps to work with the gels I’m kicking back. I’ve also incorporated them into my post run recovery drink. I’ll drop a nuun tab in with fruit, protein powder, a bit of honey, and I really think it helps with recovery and rehydration.
@Taren, I’ve been curious about nuun, and after seeing this video, i’m going to try it since I’m going to hit the gym again( and a lot of Jogging+cycling). What are the top 3 flavors in your opinion?
I’ve noticed your progress from prior videos. Congrats on your success.
The tropical is my favorite, though I’m still working through my stash of the original formula and havnt branched out much.
All that unnecessary packaging. If you like Nuun tablets buy them in the tube package. The ones I bought came 12 to the tube (for less than $6).
Love Sport Cherry Limeade, my go to since I started running. I’m trying out Vitamin Ginger Lemonade, gotta pick an immunity and rest flavor now.
Thank you for this! I’m usually sticking to the what would be considered the “basic” Nuun formula, but I will definitely be branching out and trying the other formulas. I’m so intrigued by the relax Nuun.
I’m drinking the Orange Citrus now but love the Blueberry Tangerine Nuun best for immunity. I can’t stand anything artificially flavored grape. I tend to lean toward the watermelon and tropical sport Nuun. I just got the blackberry vanilla to try for the rest and am excited to try that.
How many milagrams of sodium’s in them? We do Sole water cause of it being do easy to track the Sodium.
Umm.. The whole point of an effervescent tablet is to cap the bottle after dunking it in, so that the CO2 can carbonate the drink under slight pressure
I took 2 nuun Yesterday it gave me so much energy, Does Nuun have high caffein?
The sugar alcohol (sorbitol) is probably making your stomach “blow up”.
Any update? Looking some something for my bug-out-bag. Single serving powder or tablet
The tablets have a line on them. Just snap it in half to fit a small opening bottle.
Hey Stace & Bill, you both are lifesavers I’ve just started getting horrible leg cramps at night and this weekend my mission was to get magnesium glycinate and Emergen C for my electrolytes. I think I’m going to try the NUNU instead of the Emergen C. How many carbs does the NUNU drink have, Emergen C has 3 carbs. I know its not much but I would prefer to have an electrolyte beverage with no carbs if one exists..thanks for sharing the review.
I have a question. Sweeteners in zero coke i heard triggers spiking is it the same case with these kind of tablets?? Cause in most of them there are some kind of sweeteners
I’m pretty sure your supposed to drink them after for recovery
so low on main salts just go pharmasy and buy rehdration pills

Hi im running the LA Marathon on march 2020. They will give nuun during the race, i want to try it so i dont have any problems, which one should i try? Best regards from El Salvador
its probably the ‘ENERGY DRINKS’ since the best caffeine is COFFEE… TEA.. and nothing else…. i think they are ok, and tried them in a tube-
besides teens taking caffeine ‘energy drinks’ may not live as long as their parents
Did anyone notice how Stacey didn’t want to let me try the Tri Berry at 4:37?
