Oh! I’m so interested in the Casper Nova because of that zone support! I’m actually on my 4th mattress as far as trying the right fit for me. I’m 5’4, 135lbs and a side sleeper. Currently I’m testing out the all foam Layla and I love the soft side but I swear to gosh I feel like my hips are driving in further. I literally took pics of me on my side and I don’t see it. But I feel it…is that makes sense. So having the extra support there may work! And just to share the ones I returned so far. Saatva-luxury firm (too firm). Winkbed-soft (returned because I could swear I could feel the micro coils on my boney hip. Purple-3 Premier (that was just a matter of me not loving the grid and the floating feel..legit made me feel like..motion sick…yes I’m weird. Lol). Thanks for all you do!
Idk man as an owner of dreamcloud and someone who has lower back pain (herniated disk) per say as comfortable as this mattress is I don’t reccomend it for people with lower back pain bcoz it is very soft. Maybe this is just me personally and I need a firmer mattress. But I think the softer the bed the worse it is for lower back pain. Again this is just my experience with mattresses.
I have lower back pain from a work accident that happened 5yrs ago. Ever since then I’ve never had a good nights sleep. I have sciatica down my left leg. I move around when I sleep, from back to side to back to side, every time I move I wake up cuz the pain. So I never get a full nights sleep & in the morning I feel tired & sluggish. Straight up the Layla! I am a hot, side sleeper. The Layla is cooling and flippable. I can choose between soft or firm. I prefer soft but there are times I need a firmer mattress. This is perfect.
I herniated my disc when I was dead lifting at 19 I’m 28 and it’s still not the same. Every year I throw it out a couple times
I like the Layla since it is flippable and cooler than regular memory foam. As a side sleeper, I also like the WinkBed memory luxe because of the pressure relief and the Tencel cover.

I suffer so bad with my back I have sciatica. Arthritis and scoliosis in my back and my specialist warned me never to get a memory foam mattress there is no support for your spine. I also know heap of people that got rid of their memory foam mattress because they said the same as the specialist
Another great video! I suffer from a back injury, and it’s probably my number one reason for purchasing a new bed. Anything would be better for me than the cheap memory foam mattress I’m sleeping on, so any of these would be an upgrade.

Hi there, I was a victim of a car accident and I was the passenger, my hubby was the driver. Some idiot hit us due to being drunk. However I am suffering from acute pain in the lumbar 3,4,5 and the sacrum region. Nineteen years later, I now have arthritis and fibromyalgia. While in pyshio, I was told to invest in a firm bed. I’ve been sleeping good until a year ago, I wake up stiff and in pain in the lower back sides of my bed. I am a very deep sleeper and weigh 128 pounds. Do I need to invest in another mattress? Also to, does the box spring have anything to do with the mattress?
This is a good list of some of my favorite mattresses but i’m surprised Winkbed, soft version and Nest Alexander Hybrid are not on the list.

I just bought a tempurapedic pro adapt mattress and an adjustable bed yesterday I hope it’s a good fit for me. I have sciatica in my lower back a herniated disc and neck pain with numbness radiating from my legs and arms. I’ve already had surgery in 2013 but the pain in back moving to the next vertebrae. My doctor doesn’t want to do a second surgery what do you think about this mattress and bed for my condition? I purchased firm support.

Back pain affects my sleep in so many ways. I find myself getting up in the middle of the night needing to stretch just to deal with the pain. I have struggled for years due to not having the right mattress or simply not knowing what I need for my sleep style. I’m 22 & recently a new mom. Awesome video! Very informative. I have lower back stiffness and pain usually when I wake up in the morning that goes away after I have been up and moving for a little bit. If I wake up during the night I find that my back is usually pretty stiff and painful and so I am awake for awhile trying to find the right position to help alleviate the pain and get back to sleep. I’m in the market for a new mattress and I’ll have to try these out to see if they help. Thank you!
Back pain does not regularly affect my sleep but I do deal with spasticity which makes it tough to fall asleep some nights.
As a carpenter living with back pain is just normal life to me. My current bed doesn’t help my situation. I’ve tried buying a memory foam cover to help but the benefits were only very short lived.
What about bed available at the big mattress stores like the Sealy Copper II? (which I just looked at) Are these off the list because they are inferior or because you haven’t reviewed them?

Sometimes lower back pain prevents from sleeping on flat surfaces. Only side sleeping is possible. During such times soft mattress is a bliss. Can sleep untill pain is removed by exercises and shockwave therapy during next 3 to 4 days.
Back pain impacts my sleep negatively in the morning if my bed is too soft. More than back pain though is my hip and shoulder pain. Those occur if the bed isn’t soft enough. It’s a tough balance.

Back pain does affecct my sleep. I used to wake up with back pain so im glad i switched to a better matress that has the combo of the right firmness i like while still be nice and comfortable for me.

Id probably lean towards BB or Saatva because they offer a bit of a firmer option. I’m not a big fan of a completely soft bed i do enjoy more of a medium-medium/firm bed.

Perhaps the Loom & Leaf firm, but that one can’t compete with my Tempur-pedic (which I was able to get it 50% off), so no regrets. I really like Dreamcloud, Sapira/Leesa Hybrid, and Allswell, so thank you for the list. The Allswell is a killer deal.

Back pain impacts my sleep by waking me up and causing me to toss and turn. I’ve found that memory foam helps with that by relieving pressure and holding you in place.
I believe the Brooklyn signature would be the best mattress for me. I’m in the military reserve and I’m also a first responder so I have long hard days and would enjoy the mattress.
It’s usually my shoulders. I love sleeping on my tummy with an arm up and I find it does a number on my shoulders and arms. However, I notice my back is more tender when I lay on it straight so I tend not sleep on my back.

Hi, I need to buy a new mattress.
As Jeff, I have a back injury, specifically two herniated discs (L3-L4, and L4-5). Because of this, I’m mainly a back sleeper with some pillows under my knees (8090%), but sometimes I sleep in my side (1020%), which I cannot do for much time because I also suffer from shoulder dislocation.
I’m on my 30s, and 200lbs.
I have been checking on several pages (Google research) to look which could be the right mattress to me, based on my body limitations/requirements, and my budget.
Originally I was undecided between the T&N mint and the dreamcloud.
But after your reviews and your videos (I haven’t seen the mattress before) I’m now more undecided.
The mint doesn’t look too be the right one since it looks a lot softer than I need, and the dreamcloud you said it too firm for side sleepers as sometimes I do.
The purple 2+ it’s out of my budget, but the original doesn’t.
By helix’s quiz, the helix dawn is now an option (without the luxe option due to budget constraints).
The Casper wave, the winkbed, and the others are also out of budget.
So, now I’m between the dreamcloud, the purple original, and the helix Dawn.
Which one would you recommend to me based on all this background?

My back usually does okay. I’m a nurse and do a lot of moving patients. On the days I’ve lifted and turned patients a lot, my mid to lower back takes a beating and it can affect my sleep.
I’d pick Layla Hybrid mattress. The option of getting two different firmness in a hybrid mattress it’s a smart idea.But if I could choose a more affordable option, I would choose the Brooklyn Bedding mattress.
Almost bought a DreamCloud mattress until I found out about the changes they recently made… No more hand tufting, no more latex foam layer, and less cashmere in the top cover. I’m sure they were all done as cost saving measures, but I valued all three of those, and changed my mind. Probably going with a Nest Bedding Latex Hybrid. Its similiar to the Avocado mattress shown here with pocketed support coils below latex below another type of support foam up top. Still not sure, but my lower back injury wakes me every night and really ruins my night’s sleep. My chiropractor told me that with a bulging disc in the lower part of the back that the early morning after being in bed for several hours would always be the worst time.
Back pain more effects me during the day. Possibly when I wake up. Not much when I’m going to sleep.

I really love memory foam so these beds are right up my alley. I especially love the Layla, Nectar and Winkbeds MemoryLuxe. I like the Layla for being flippable, thick layer of memory foam and the copper infused memory foam to sleep cool. I love the Nectar for have that dense classic memory foam feel, 5” of memory foam for great pressure relief and the price. I also like the Winkbeds Memorylux for its 5” memory foam comfort layers for that hug for side sleepers and the fact that its one of the coolest sleeping all foam beds
Back Pain definitely keeps me tossing and switching from side to side as well as keeps me wide awake while laying on my back I feel like laying on my back gives me hot flashes that shoot up to my shoulder blades. I really hate taking pain medication so a tens machine helps me alleviate some pain so I could fall asleep naturally. Thank you for introducing dream cloud, plan, and avocado, but purple still sounds like my top choice with avocado springyer, airier, certifications and smells good!

I get back pain if I don’t stretch after working out or sleep in a weird position. If that happens I tend to toss and turn and not get the best sleep. I like softer mattresses for side sleeping but sometimes it can mess up my back more, especially when I am having pain.
I could say Saatva or Helix because of the coils. Me and my husband are side sleepers and heavy people. I’m just not confident in which one should I buy. I don’t wanna make a mistake neither go through the hassle of returning mattresses.
Honestly, back pains sucks. But even if my bed isn’t the best or made for back support, I usually figure out what I can do to best help my back such as stretching or sleeping with a pillow between my legs.
If the Allswell mattress is made by Brooklyn Bedding, is it just a re-branded Bowery hybrid? I watched the Bowery hybrid review and similar comments are made about it….
I’m luckily without any back pain, so that’s not a factor in my nightly sleep.

My main concern when shopping for a new mattress is my fiance’s severe scoliosis. It’s so hard to find a bed that’s soft enough not to hurt her back and still support us both. I personally don’t have a spine like a poorly drawn question mark, but I don’t like to see her in pain either, so it’s always in the back of my mind when shopping.

I think the Nectar is my choice because of its pressure relief feature, but I am curious about the Amerisleep AS3.
I think of these the Layla and Brooklyn, although I think I prefer the Layla Original a bit more, I like it being thinner for transport and dealing with sheets.

I got a 5 inch lucid extra firm and loved it for hte first two years, where after the center softened from basic use and lost its extra firm and went to medium to waht i say is soft… i know its only a 5 inch so three years after that purchse, im looking for a new matress again.:/
I need something that will last 25 years or more, with firmness in mind as the number one lasting quality. hybrid looks interesting. I do have back injuries from the military, and the only better thing I have felt outside that lucid extra firm feel is yoga… honest.

I’ve had the same box spring mattress with pillow topper for the last 17 years at house. At school I have a typical dorm mattress with about 4-5 inches of generic foam on top, I find it very comfortable. I feel as though I don’t know what I want but I believe foam I think anything will be better than my old mattress. Lower back gets me stiff so switching positions can be painful and irritating when you’re trying to get a full night’s sleep.

My back pain dosnt affect my sleeping as much as it does after I wake up and try and get OUT of bed. It usually takes me awhile for my body to reanimate and actually roll out of bed then I look like the complete evolution chart of man going to the bathroom. Usually by time I leave the bathroom I a finally a fully upright female human again..lol
I have a horrible back injury and got a firm mattress that my chiropractor told me to get..Big mistake… after paying it off finally, I bought a cheapo LinenSpa 8” gel foam hybrid mattress (with springs and foam) with a 2 inch gel foam topper and 1 inch mattress pad protector and finally I don’t wake up in tears or having to pop pills just to be able to get up in the morning…

It can be overwhelming sometimes to choose, and your channel has done a great job in helping me decide what’s best for my family. As far as soft beds are concerned, I really have been leaning towards the Casper Nova Hybrid mattress for its price and heat management.
Back pain can cause me to stay awake all night. A comfortable and supportive mattress is key to restful recovery. I’m very inclined to go with a hybrid mattress for longevity and support and see some of my favorite looking beds on this list. Great review!
I get lower back pain. For me, I don’t usually wake up, but feel it the next day as soon as I go to bend. There have been a few instances that I’ve woken up and had to get out of bed and lay on the floor bc it was so bad. It’s important to have a supportive mattress, especially as a stomach sleeper. I like the avocado due to the latex.
I have constant lower pack so I’m very conscious of it when sleep. I used to be a side sleeper but switched to sleeping on my back for pain relief. For now I sleep with a roller pillow underneath my knees to help. Thanks for the video, very helpful!

This is a good list. I wish i had this list 5 years ago when i was having the worst back pain and would struggle to stay asleep and would wake up every day restless. I especially like the Purple, Casper Wave and Dreamcloud. Just overall nice beds��

I have health issues and because of that my bones are very weak and deteriorate,. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at the young age 0f 10 or so, along with spondylothesis, pars defect and in 2009 Iw had a spinal fusion because my bones just break with nothing crazy happening! BACK SURGERY WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE BUT!!!! one 4 years old later and working over 80 hours every 2 weeks is really brutal! I am sooo loving these videos. I am really in need of a hybrid mattress because it great for heavier people. The Saatva hybrid and the Helix Luxe Moonlight seems to be what I am drawn to.
I need a cooling foam mattress. It is hard to find a memory firm with soft and firm sides. It is hard to find any mattress you can flip these days!
What about “cracking” of the top of the foam. Bloom mist sold by Sleep Country had some issues with this, what about all the other foam mattresses you’ve reviewed. Also what about “off gases”.

What I like about the Plank Mattress is that is flippable with 2 levels of firmness, like the old mattresses used to be.

I like the Loom and Leaf mattress for its more firm feel and for the durability it has due to the high quality materials used in making it. I’m mostly a side sleeper and you mentioned it felt good on your side so that’s nice to know eventhough it’s a more firm mattress than the others.

chiropractic is dangerous and a farce. It is not a long-term fix for back pain. most of what people need is not about having anyone quickly crack your neck, very dangerous, or twist your bones. I would never ever rely on anyone saying that a chiropractor says this or that.
what I am more likely to rely on is the result of someone with chronic back pain, who has slept on the mattress for about two weeks minimum. that will be a good indicator of what may be more apropos to my situation.
I tried Loom & Leaf and after that decided that memory foam just wasn’t for me. It did an awful job regarding cooling, I sent it back after a month or so. I think I might try Bear at some point, but these others would be too soft.
I like the Layla Hybrid bed, love that you can flip it over.
I’ve noticed back pain for me will linger for days after just one bad night of sleep. I’d tend to have to roll out for multiple times a day for multiple days to go back to normal.
Back pain is the top factor in my choosing a mattress. Have had pain for over 30 years and definitely need a supportive mattress, but I am a side sleeper and a hot sleeper.

After watching this video I am looking into the Casper Nova, Layla, puffy luxe. I am a side sleeper so it’s super important the bed is soft and sinks a little for support. Also found it interesting that softer beds tend to be warmer, which I need because I tend to be cooler.
The Wink Bed Memory Lux sounds great. As a side sleeper it sounds like it would really suit as you suggest its the best memory foam mattress for side sleepers because it gives great pressure relief and spinal alignment. U love the feeling of memory foam and I think the 2 layers offered by the Wink would be a real luxury to sink into.
I would go with the Saatva Luxury Firm mattress, it’s defiantly a chonky mattress but the double layers of coils sound too good to pass up.

For meI usually have back pain it’s either at the top and middle or just lower back it can vary. The mattress I have right now doesn’t help with it at all so I wake up not only with pain but sore and stiff. It’s horrible.
Why doesn’t anybody mention puffy mattresses supposedly they are the chiropractors mattress of choice I don’t understand why no one mentions them

The helix Lux seems like the best bet for me. Soft but still supportive and the cooling cover built in seems amazing. The Saatva seems amazing too though

Curious why Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid dropped off the list from previous “top soft” and “most comfy” lists. I’m actually replacing the puffy lux I just got with that since it was way too firm and uncomfortable for side sleeping (and it had no bounce, as mentioned). Am I making a mistake??
I was leaning toward the layla mattress, but I am not considering the BB mattress.
Don’t think I can go with a ‘soft’ mattress, but if I did it would probably be the Helix Midnight bed… or maybe a Casper all foam wave with zone supporting foams.
Out of this list the Layla Hybrid would be the best because of the few springs this I would assume allows some more air flow and I get a little warm on memory foam. If not, the Moonlight mattress sparked my interest.

Of the choices, I’d be happy choosing between Saatva and Brooklyn Bedding hybrids. I lean more towards Luxury firm and that being said, then choose Saatva overall. I agree with another comment that Wink and Alexander hybrids should also be listed.

I think if we were to get a soft bed it would be the Layla! We are definitely shopping around for a more supportive bed but of these options here the Layla looks the most comfortable. I love memory foam and it seems the whole foundation of this bed is being light and fluffy!
I think I would select Brooklyn Bedding Signature with medium softness. I need coils for support and don’t need different zones of support cause I prefer to sit at the head of the bed leaning on the wall so I prefer same firmness on the whole surface of the bed. And it’s not expensive.
I have lower back pain, it does affect my sleep. Having a good mattress does help, a softer firmness seems to help me the most.

This is my favorite list you’ve ever done! As a plus-size sleeper with chronic neck, shoulder, & back pain, a firm memory foam mattress is ULTIMATE. Amerisleep is the best online memory foam mattress brand, excluding Tempur-pedic, I’ve found. Their celliant cover is amazing, too.
I’m grateful to say I sleep very well, and have the ability to fall asleep at the snap of fingers, but I also suffer from two herniated discs in my back and these types of mattresses clearly can only improve my slumber. I think the avocado and the purple be described at the end sound most appealing to me! Great review.

Awesome video, I love a plush hybrid with still great support. Since me and my wife are lightweight back & side sleepers with back pain I think we’d like either the Casper Nova or the Saatva. Although I wonder how the Winkbed Soft model would stack up to this list as well?

The Casper Nova made my list when it came out. I would take any of them. I notice you show the Helix Moonlight all the time when showing soft or plush. But What About the Sunset. isnt suppose to be softer than the Moonlight?
