NLEA Serving Size on Food Labels NLEA Serving Size Definition. Many healthy eaters assume that the serving size listed on the nutrition facts label is More Serving Size Definitions. Serving Size or NLEA Serving Size: The amount of food typically consumed during a single Serving Sizes.
Over the years, the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act has had many new updates and changes made to it, including new food label requirements beginning in January of 2020.. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the NLEA as a Federal Law. This law gave the Food and Drug Administration the authority to require that certain nutrition information be present on food labels.

“Nutella is spreadable candy” Right on! That’s exactly what it comes off as to me, it’s a confectionery product. I can’t believe people think it’s healthy, they might as well eat a Snickers for breakfast. Apart from hazelnuts, cocoa and some milk solids, the rest of it is pretty much a nutritionally redundant mass of sugar and palm oil.
It is also worth noting that the largest jars of Nutella are 650g in Europe, whilst 725g in North America, not including those bulk-sized tubs for the catering industry.

The most important thing that is missed about adhering to the serving size, is that you get to enjoy the thing you love for so much longer before buying again! Yes it may seem small but just imagine if something has 24 servings. That’s 24 different occasions that you get to enjoy it, instead of binging, hating it, and never wanting to see it again, until tomorrow, then one day you don’t want to ever eat it again. Until the next year, and then you’re done with it entirely.

I never thought Nutella was marketed as a “breakfast food” never thought it was healthy, it sure is good
I’m blessed with a fast metabolism I can eat a lot and stay average weight
If the food we would eat was 100 % healthy, we could send home 3/4 of the doctors and nurses, the world population would grow dangerously quick, since we all would reach 110-120 y.o., there quickly would be a shortage of homes, even more cars on the roads, 4/5th of the sugar producers would have to close their doors etc etc. It would have enormous consequences. And it is clear, our politicians don’t give a damn about us being too healthy: they prefer the kickbacks via lobbyists….

People have always been aware of their weight so imagine what the difference would have been in America if the portions had been correctly labeled from the start. The tragedy today is that sugar, fructose, glucose, corn syrup, etc. dangerous but so is the artificial anti-freeze junk sweeteners like Aspartame, Saccharin, Sucralose, etc. that are poisoning us drop by drop in millions of ways that sugar could not began too. Some of these artificial sweeteners being 600 times sweeter than REAL SUGAR making you want more sweet in your diet. This was done on purpose… remember the ads “Better living through Chemistry.” Anytime it is fake it is never better.

See, here in the UK, we get small bags of crisps at a time (‘chips’ for you Americans) and one bag is a serving size, so we don’t find it strange
As far as the labels, our system is better. It should be displayed for 100g of product to give a comparison and for the total in the package as a whole. Portion sizes are an individual preference so a less useful marker, but displaying all three would be best. This is nothing to do with health though, your healthcare is a business so you have no hope there. This is all about “shrinkflation” and ingredient changes.
This will help me cut down on snacks after eating nearly one or two packs of crisps or some other kind of junk everyday

Look up palm oil for yourself! They use it because it provides bigger yields than other oils and is much cheaper but it is so bad for us and our planet! A lot of products use palm oil which is so sad to me

The serving size is very often put at the top of the nutritional information, carbohydrates/sodium/fat/sugar per however many/grams/ml/etc. Also, I would often give my kids the serving sizes they suggest like the chips, oreos, and more.
