More often than not, you can get all the molybdenum you need from food sources like: Peanuts: 0.02 mg per 100 grams Peanut butter: 0.008 mg per 100 grams Sunflower seeds: 0.003 mg per 100 grams Rice and rice cereal: 0.002 mg per 100 grams Legumes: 0.002 mg per 100 grams. The top sources of molybdenum in U.S. diets are legumes, cereal grains, leafy vegetables, beef liver, and milk. Milk and cheese products are the main sources of molybdenum for teens and children. The amount of molybdenum in food depends on the amount of molybdenum in the soil and in the water used for irrigation [1,2].There is very little data on the specific molybdenum content of certain foods, as it depends on the content of the soil.
Although amounts vary, the richest sources are usually beans, lentils.vegetables are generally low in molybdenum. Dietary Supplements Data from NHANES III indicated that the median intakes of molybdenum from supplements were 23 mg/day for men and 24 mg/day for women. Bioavailability Little is known about the bioavailability of molybdenum, except that it has.Adult requirements for molybde-num have been estimated at about 45 μ g/day (Institute of Medicine, USA, 2001).
Average intakes tend to be considerably above this value. Milk, beans, bread, and cereals (especially the germ) are good sources of molybdenum, and water also contributes small amounts to the total dietary intakes.cereal-based products including bread are the major food contributors to the dietary molybdenum. intake of adults. Mean molybdenum intakes, as assessed in duplicate diet or food portion studies, total. diet studies and market basket studies, vary over a wide range, i.e.
58 µg/day to 157 µg/day, for adults.A 1-cup serving of yogurt contains 11.3 micrograms of molybdenum, which supplies 25 percent of the mineral’s daily requirement for an adult. Cottage cheese has 10.4 micrograms per cup, and milk has approximately 5 micrograms of molybdenum in every cup. If you include dairy products in your diet, choose low-fat or nonfat items whenever possible.Molybdenum is an essential trace mineral.
It is found in foods such as milk, cheese, cereal grains, legumes, nuts, leafy vegetables, and organ meats. Molybdenum is most commonly used for.Normally, a regular diet that consists of whole grains, legumes, leafy green vegetables, and nuts may make-up for the body’s requirement of molybdenum.
The body requires molybdenum for a set of diverse functions such as in the active functioning of certain enzymes (molybdenum-dependent enzymes) that are very important for human health.Nutrient Requirements of Horses does not contain a dietary requirement for molybdenum. Molybdenum toxicity is linked closely with its interactions with sulfur and copper, though these interactions differ among species, as ruminants are much more sensitive to high molybdenum intakes than horses. A study in horses found that molybdenum at 20 mg/kg of the diet did not affect the absorption or utilization of.
At a concentration of just 2%, the molybdenum mineral is what prevents salt water corrosion in marine grade 316 stainless steel. You’re already familiar with iron, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. You know they’re dietary minerals which are classified as being essential to your health.
Though molybdenum is found in such minerals as wulfenite (PbMoO 4) and powellite (CaMoO 4), the main commercial source is molybdenite (Mo S 2). Molybdenum is mined as a principal ore and is also recovered as a byproduct of copper and tungsten mining. The primary criterion used to set an Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) is molybdenum balance in controlled studies with specific amounts of molybdenum consumed.
Adjustments are made for the bioavailability of molybdenum. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for adult men and women is.Foods high in molybdenum include legumes, nuts, dairy products, cereal grains and leafy green vegetables. If you’re really looking to up your molybdenum nutrition, legumes, such as beans, lentils and peas, are some of the richest sources.
Fruit is generally low in it.Legumessuch as beans, lentils and peas as well as cereals and leafy vegetables are considered good sources of molybdenum. Liver is also a good source of molybdenum, but animal products are generally poor sources of the element.
In general, the typical America diet contains molybdenum levels well above the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA).

Great information, once again. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
How can i get rid off of microplastic that still vibrates through DEW all through my body?
Already been using cruciferous, Baking soda, active chacroal. Thanks…
I have no words for Dr. Berg but just thank you. I truly appreciate every information you provide us with. I definitely share it with many.
Wow. Never have i considered the nutritional value of molybdenum. I was actually looking for a video about the uses of molybdenum in chemistry and industry. Glad i found this:)
Could you make a list please of every single thing that’s neccessary for glutathione?
0:04 Dr. Berg, I tried it and I did it!!! In fact, I just kept going with it and said it several times (i lost count).

I’ve found that molybdenum glycinate is super helpful in dealing with “stomach bugs” (viruses, actually). And it helps with nausea and diarrhea caused by medications for some people. And a lot of women have said that it helps them with migraines.
Hello dr. Berg, could you make a video on how to ensure maximum kidney detoxification? Thank you.
You um bigem powerful witch doctor.. Dr Berg.. top work again…
I wish you were much closer to California Dr. Berg. My body has never been the same since gallbladder removal due to cholesterol not a polyp. I take digestive enzymes and bile salts. And I was diagnosed with a tremor. All after the surgery. Severe headaches, muscle twitches day and night. Major back pain. The worst mistake in my life is getting my gallbladder bladder out.
Ya that is a strange word, very much like ligma lol and don’t ask
I love Dr Berg’s videos, but am i the only one that comes away from them thinking…i’m not eating that anymore? To EVERYTHING?
What do you think the main reason for molybdenum deficiency is? Is it lacking in the diet or is it being used up by a congested liver?
Doc, every time I do my own research and buy supplements I discover you’ve done a video on the topic more or less the same day stop stalking me! Ha, great content ad usual.
I love your videos! You have such interesting & informative content.
What is pee shiver…a strong shiver at the end of urination? Is this normal? It doesn’t seem to be temperature related, but occurs frequently. I have only found one other person who experiences this phenomenon.
.i am otherwise a healthy female. Please tell me I am not weird!
Dr Berg, would you please do a review of the Netflix documentary Game Changers?
You are a wonderful person I wish you all the best and happiness
(With that said, are you just trying to look skinny? And it’s not like it’s just “skinny” that you got, you can see your bone frame. Are you just trying to make yourself look like an average person?)
Hi Dr. Berg, thank you for your videos. Quick question, I produce acetaldehyde automatically in my body, and I do not drink alcohol or eat sugar or gluten. I also have hemangiomas from years of taking hormones (40 years) I have had pain under my right rib and a tender liver, but all tests have come out clean. (I have not had a liver scan yet, that is next) Guessing it is scar tissue caused from years of candida and production of acetaldehyde. Can molybdenum help in dissolving the scar tissue and the hemangiomas? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you so much for your informative videos.
When I heard the word “Molybdenum” I thought Dr. Berg today sponsor is Elon Musk.
Lol , I can’t say that name Dr. BERG. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEOS AND SHORT.
You’re psychicI just took a tiny Thorne brand molybdenum glycinate capsule after my castor oil/ tea tree oil nasal spray for candida in the paranasal sinuses… Unfortunately it only reaches the maxillaries though.
I get 50% dv in my meal replacement… “garden of life” all organic.
I always called it Molly B DEenum but I never knew what it was—wow! A co-enzymethanks
I am losing weight or rather have lost weight what should I get to increase weight?
What’s the mechanism of action of molybdenum in relation of its effects according to what you have said?
Can you do a video debunking some of the claims from the game changer documentary please.
Hey Doc. Sometimes I don’t feel like drinking water, and if I want to drink I won’t because the water is not too cold for my liking. What can I do. I sometimes drink only 1 cup of water
So glad you did this. I could get the correct spelling from last live Q&A
It is present in nutritional yeast too. 140% of our daily values in only 16 g.
This is one of the top 5 best Videos that this channel created and can help about so much health conditions, the tragedy is that so small numer of people will knew about it. Its a real shame.
My left knee and right ankle cause me terrible pain. I have a tear inside my knee appatently and im waiting for keyhole surgery anything that will help my joints is welcomed!
No grains. So just throw out the thousands of years of history proving that our forefathers survived off of them.
1:13 eggs grow in the soil. Got it.
sorry, couldn’t resist
I take NAC and it contains molybdenum 50 mcg. Is that enough?
I love starting my day with one of your videos. Have a healthy day
The medical/nutritional equivalent of the Haynes manuals for motor vehicles. Amazing information. Very empowering. Any thoughts on treating the Ross River Virus?
Me: soon to be a certified doctor( Phd) from Dr BERG UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE
One more semester to finish!
Please dr.i need your help.i need you to talk about (lipoedema)please.please save my life
HA HAlove when he crosses grains off:-D This has helped so many of my clientsI think many of us need this mineral.
I wish I could hit the subscribe button again just to express my gratitude but that would unsubscribe me and I don’t want that.: (
Taking a 1-5mg (not micro grams) of molybdenum w plenty of water usually can eliminate 80-100% of mild to severe candida die off symptoms in under a half hour on an empty stomach. The more severe it is the more you will need of both! Thornes seems to be the best, isn’t expensive & is definitely worth buying ahead of time if doing a candida cleanse taking herbal or other anti-fungals or starting a low carb diet. Hope this helps
Respected Dr. Eric Berg you are doing a tremendous good for the world. Please make a video on how to get taller. Im a 20 year old male born in pakistan in 5ft7inches and I would love to add 2 or more inches to my height. Thank you so much.
I was told my molybdenum is almost zero….I guess that explains why I have trouble detoxing and getting drugs to leave my body at a normal rate! If I start taking molybdenum, can I take too much?
Hey doctor! On monday I started my ketogenic diet togheter w/ IF 16/8. It is honestly going pretty good. However I got an important question i’ve been thinking about for days. And that is the optimal calorie target I should aim for? Im 75 kg, 20 years old, endomorph built. I am really strong and honestly not so far away from my six pack summer goal. Im currently at 2300 calories, and I am really active. Is this too much or too little amounts of calories? Thank you for all content, it may be a lifechanger to me aswell.
I can’t understand much from this video, Though You are explaining very well doctor. Thank you. I learned a lot about health because of your videos.
I appreciate Dr Berg greatly. He does have a video on every topic I searched for, how does he cover it all??? And he is clear and simple, so easy to understand.
About molybdenum: it was given to me by my doctor ( applied kinesiology) because we suspected that my sinus issue is due candida. He said this stuff gets rid of candida very fast. And behold: into my second day of taking it, my head is clearing out and I feel air coming into places I didn’t know exists.
Hello Dr… Can you please give some tips on how to reduce high CRP.. I’m currently on adalimumab and Sulfasalazine. Because of high inflammation.. Please help me
Wait…what…no grains?!! This is so much information to absorb! This must apply to people doing Keto right?! Thanks!
Thanks Dr. Berg, I really like that you cover the information so quickly. I can just get the facts and move on with my day. It is much appreciated.
This is also used in steel manufacture, it’s a pink rock mineral. It’s mined in Germany.
Hello Doctor, I really enjoy your videos! Could please please do a video on how to avoid flare ups from immune diseases such as chron‘s and ulcerative colitis? Thank you
The best practice to employ getting your trace minerals is, first get a single high quality supplement like Dr Berg’s trace minerals(there are others out there to, just make sure they are plant sourced). Second use sea salt and Himalayan pink salt, I mix the two salts and keep them in a nice salt grinder and use alot of saltI was once chronic hypertension sufferernow I’ve got the best blood pressure of anyone I know and, as I said, I eat a lot of salt… yum. Third I get trace minerals from other supplements like the wheat grass juice powder. Forth I do like and eat organ meats; liver, heart, tongue….I belive the more sources you have the more complete and more assimilated trace minerals get! For me feeling great and being happy is so much fun. I do not understand why so many people do not change their bad habits and just get healthy! I’m literally watching friends and family members killing themselves following so called “medical doctors” drug dependent nonsense! How do those doctors sleep at night?…
My body is deficient in molybdenum. I can’t eat an orange, it’s too acidic for me. It would be like someone else trying to eat a lemon.
Could you maybe make a video about people in blue zones? I know that they eat a high carb diet, but they also seem to be drinking a lot of tea, does that help with their insulin sensitivity?
Is molybdenum present in liver, kidney, or other organ meats? Thx.
people like u really make youtube worth watching…much respect brother…
Is there a test for us to know our molybdenum and acetaldehyde levels?
TESTIMONY!! My husband was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease around 13 years ago. For all y’all who are not clear what that is, it’s one of those diseases where doctors write you off completely unless you get a kidney transplant. Well my husband went keto with me many months ago and now we eat mainly meat, eggs, and cheese. Well, hubby just had his three month labs done. All of his numbers improved! And he went from 18% kidney function back up to 25%!! The doctor and the nurse practitioner had NEVER seen a kidney disease patient’s numbers go backwards!! They were completely flabbergasted at his level of healing!! Hubby told them, “You guys could actually help people like me if you tell them to stop consuming grains and sugar.” These medical people couldn’t even argue with him! Just a couple months ago they were trying to get him on a kidney transplant list! All praises go to Jesus! By the way, I have my own testimony as well as my dad (who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer). My point is, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE WITH CANCER, DIABETES, KIDNEY DISEASE, ALZHEIMERS, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, OR ANY OTHER AILMENT!! STOP EATING CARBS!!
Optimize ALL your nutrients for free: https://bit.ly/369MGQC
Dr Berg. It’s completely unrelated to your contents today but could you please do review of Game Changers on Netflix? It sounded BS in many aspects but I’m not sure if I’m biased towards vegetarian diet. The whole movie is about ‘energy and strength is coming from CARBS (includes grains and starchy) and protein from plants, and animal food is all inflammatory, not energy efficient, not sustainable for environment’.
Molybdenum is required for the three mammalian enzymes xanthine oxidase (XO), aldehyde oxidase (AO), and sulfite oxidase (SO), which are important for detoxing. (PMID: 8302261) Also mARC, which is newly discovered and seems to protect from DNA mutation (PMID: 22924387)
Aldehyde dehydrogenase is an enzyme encoded by the ALDH2 gene and is important for aldehyde metabolism. ALDH2 genes defect affect 50% of East Asians, causing a deficiency in this enzyme, therefore they have poorer alcohol metabolism (shown by the red blushing appearance) (PMC2659709). However, ALDH defects is related to increased risk of many other illnesses like cancer. ALDH genes defect is related to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease (PMID: 25298080), particularly among Chinese men (PMID: 26130061). “Adverse effects of acetaldehyde on the cardiovascular and hematologic systems leading to ischemia, heart failure, and coagulation disorders, can exacerbate hepatic injury and increase risk for liver failure.” (PMC2952076)
Vegetable oils are the most commonly cooked with and consumed foods in the world. I hypothesize that the combination of ALDH genes defect and regular consumption of vegetables oils which contains aldehydes could increase cancer risk, and that extra molybdenum may help as it is required for making the aldehyde metabolizing enzymes. Although I have no proof that improved molybdenum status could help, it is not known what the optimal intake of molybdenum for optimal health is.
“The lung cancer incidence in Chinese women is among the highest in the world, but tobacco smoking accounts for only a minority of the cancers. Epidemiologic investigations of lung cancer among Chinese women have implicated exposure to indoor air pollution from wok cooking, where the volatile emissions from unrefined cooking oils are mutagenic.” (PMID: 7791233) This study only mentioned unrefined rapeseed oil. However, it is common knowledge that prolonged cooking of vegetable oils in general produces harmful aldehydes (DOI: 10.1016/j.foodchem.2011.09.079). The risk of aldehydes intake is also a concern for nail salons, oil refineries and auto garage workers (doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2019.03.086), and probably just living in a modern metropolis.
Molybdenum is antagonistic of copper, so too much of one depletes the other. There’s a rat study that shows copper deficiency causes negative effects from molydenum and sulfate, but not when copper become adequate (DOI: 10.1093/jn/84.1.31). However, due to modern day environment it is probably more likely there are people who have too much free unbound copper and iron in their blood which leads to various serious illnesses.
Two articles I recommend on this topic are: FX Medicine “Reducing Excess Copper With Molybdenum” and TheCandidaDiet “Molybdenum: An Essential Trace Mineral”.
Finally! I thought I was the only one who thought these elements were important!
Mo Mo nitrogenase for nitrogen fixation, eta.
Ni For the urease enzyme (Very important when using urea as a fertilizer / main nitrogen source)
Co Used in a hemoglobin-like protein that increases nitrogen fixation by a large margin.
Va Although Vanadium wasn’t mentioned, I still think it is worth pointing out that this element is used in the Va-Nitrogenase enzyme. Although not essential for N-fixation, keep in mind that Mo-Nitrogenase is very inefficient if temperatures drop below 60F. That way you can get more N-fixation in fall or colder parts of the world so you don’t have to spend more money on nitrogen fertilizer! Just be sure that your soil has the bacteria that are able to use this enzyme (ie. Azotobacter Chrococum)
I make Molybdenum into heating elements that get a few thousand degrees…Moly D for short
I’m fairly sure it’s impossible to say that three times fast.
Eggs eggs eggs fill your fridge. They show up in everything good for you.
What if you’re deficient in Molybdenum and your Xanthine Oxidase is low, what is your uric acid? Could you still develop gout? Or does the Xanthine Oxidase have to be high in order to develop gout? Because if Allopurinol and Quercetin inhibits Xanthine Oxidase, I would assume that means they make too much of it? Can anyone answer this?
what’s a decent dose & how often? I read that if you have gallstones or kidney stones not to take it.
Can someone clarify something does the xanthine oxidase enzyme potentially cause gaut through uric acid or does it prevent the gaut? Are the inhibtors what reverse the gaut?
Dr Berg if I’m intermittent fasting should I eat 2000 calories in the 8 hour window?
This mineral is on tungsten targets of x ray tubes to absorb copper and distributes heat.
I’d love to hear Dr Berg feelings on the Netflix documentary THE GAME CHANGERS. Thank you
Thank you very much for your helpful videos I’m watching them every day now, I’m doing cyclical and intermittent fasting on a vegan diet training six days a week, I drink only purify Burki water and I use that for cooking, and I’m trying to eat as healthy as possible for lifespan long Jevity and developing a six pack with less belly fat, Any advice for someone like me?
Is this stuff in celery cause my dad told me his leg was stiffened up like he had the gout…. and he had a stalk of celery in his back pocket (i dont know why lol) and he ate the celery and immediately his leg felt better
don’t forget to talk about sulfur too:) molybdenum has been a life saver for me with keto diet (and even before when I figured out my intolerance)..though I eat more than enough veg’s, protein affects my joints… something that has been labeled fibromyalgia by many dr’s for many years thank you for sharing you valuable knowledge Dr Berg!
Great job Dr. Berg. If I may add: You said molybdenum is a detoxifier. Correct! So is zinc and selenium and EDTA and ip-6 and activated charcoal. When something is a detoxifier, what that really means is that it’s a chelator. What a chelator really does is take things out of the body, both good and bad. Yes molybdenum will help get rid of excess sulfites, and even sulfur compounds. But listen, it will also get rid of important things we need, such as copper, magnesium and potassium! EDTA is notorious for indiscriminately taking everything with it.
What am I trying to say? Whenever you take a detoxifier, you must think, “FOR TEMPORARY USE ONLY!” You must also think, “I MUST REPLACE THE IMPORTANT OTHER MINERALS THAT WERE LOST!”
I personally have used high doses of molybdenum to detoxifying sulfites/sulfates/and even sulfur. But only temporarily about 7 days. Then I replenish every mineral back I can think of with a natural multivitamin. Afterall, sufur is needed to breathe and make glutathione.
Don’t take this personally, but I don’t like it when people talk about vitamins and minerals individually without speaking of other vitamin and minerals as a whole. The bottom line is if you take one fat soluble vitamin, you must take them all. Vitamin D3 needs vitamin K, A and E to work properly. It also needs copper and magnesium. So basically, if you take one, be prepared to take them all that is just how the body works ☝
What are your thoughts on drinking baking soda to kill candida?
Thanks, I knew ginger was or is good for candida but hadn’t heard that molybdenum is also.
I have yet to find a person that doesn’t feel better on this mineralfor me it was almost life changing. Thanks to yeast overgrowth and our toxic society we are REALLY in need of this mineral.
Thanks for this…I have been getting a rash from eating so much garlic and other healthy foods to keep my immune system healthy in case of Corona virus. I am deficient in Molybdenum because of my bad gene snip. Now I take it every day and can eat my Brussels sprouts!
Why is it that a lot of latins look healthier than a lot of whites (all of a sudden, and yet the numbers are dropping). The great mystery= grains (etc). I’m a definitely repeat a stereotype that is true to a huge extent that has affected a certain group’s health (you see a lot of skinny and fat clinton people, but that’s not the stereotype I’m talking of), and it’s where msg has magically been riddled in latin foods (where they were much healthier before colonialismeven if there were many poor parts before it). The stereotype: “White people don’t know how to cook rice and beans”. One response is, because they were cooking other things. Though many of it became processed, especially when it comes to the history of SUGAR.
Dr. Berg I’m a nurse and am curious about the Nightmare bacteria superbug
I think this mineral is in Kidney beans too. The beans are high in carb. Can’t eat them if you try to lose weight
If a person is obese with no other health problems, but starts shaking if he/she doesn’t eat every four hours, what does the person do to be able to fast? Should the person eat only sugar-free bacon for a day or two to force the body into running on ketones?
Finally after 40 years of pondering, I get an answer to why I cannot tolerate anything with Probiotics. Yogurt, Kefir, Probiotic pills/capsules, etc just make me ill. It also explains why I easily suffered from Gout in the past. Sulfites make me break out in hives. I guess I am the prime example of a molybdenum deficient person.
Sir can you give suggestion
About the diet i should adopt, as a medical student i continuously get hungry during study,, now i am getting belly fat also….
Plz reply sir
Just make sure take a whole food organic supplement. Otherwise it’s got synthetic stuff in it and that’s worse than bad soil
Hi Dr Berg. Can you do one on how to detox from cipro toxicity? I read that once a person takes fluoroquinolones, DNA adducts are formed and there is no escape from the side effects. Thanks for your channel and the good work
people like u really make youtube worth watching…much respect brother…
please a have sulfite allergy, please the protocol for take molybdenum
It turns out he is not even a doctor and he is just milking this for money.
Just See the description…
@Dr.Eric Berg DC
this was as always very informative..thank you..may i ask where do i buy the Molybdenum? is it a form supplement?
Could you make videos about HIV positive person diet or life style. How they servive normal life?
Dr. Berg, have you done a video on how diabetes medications effect the Keto diet? I’m on Steglatro, Trulicity, Metformin, and Glimiperide (A1C in June was 8.5). I’ve lost about 40 pounds in two months on Keto.
Dr Berg, don’t u think we shud talk abt cancers more, who knows who’s out there losing hope when it’s all abt start making some changes in their life style, well at least we can improve the quality of this current life of them.
Hhahha i keep saying WE,i know its all ur efforts but its just “team spirit” mode
Thankkkkkk youuuuuuuuuuu
On the topic of enzymes: dr Berg what’s your take on leeches as a treatment?
Hey Dr. I am from India. I like and follow ur channel. Question: my gym trainer told me that keto can be dangerous as it also uses the fat that covers/protect organs. Please reply
Love u dr berg, and thanksssssssssss for letting us living in ur brain rent free:)
