Hi everyone, first time poster here. I am a physician from the Philippines whose Master Cardiology stethoscope rubber tubing developed cracks after about 5 years of usage in the ER. Reading up on it, i've come to the conclusion that the damage may be due to oil exposure from wearing the stethoscope around my neck all the time. What I can't seem to find, though, are recommendations as to how to go about replacing tubing(if that's possible at all). I tried contacting 3M via their website, but unfortunately haven't heard back from them after e-mailing them 6 weeks ago.
I was wondering if anyone here has had the same/similar experiences that they can share. I was able to get an extra stethoscope(a cardiology IV) for the time being, but am still hoping on salvaging my Master Cardiology, considering it is an expensive piece of equipment and has high sentimental value to me, as it was the first stethoscope I purchased and used throughout residency traininh.
Tl;dr: littmann master cardiology stethoscope tubing is cracked – has anyone had luck in changing/replacing their tubing, or did you have to retire your unit and purchase a new stethoscope?
