I find that the small red lentils are easier to digest than the larger green ones who have too much fiber. It’s worth a try anyways. I personally don’t react to them eaten in a reasonable amount. They still need to be rinsed before cooking.
Thanks for sharing this info. It brings a different perspective to the whole approach of dealing with IBS.
Wow that’s so interesting. My IBS D started after food poisoning so that makes a lot of sense! Definitely would love to hear more!
Does this diet help skin rashes and flushed sensitive dry skin?? My doc put me on this said ibs but not sure I really have it or not but hoping it helps my symptoms
Super useful videos Carrie, THanks for sharing this information!
Thank you for your videos. Amazing work! I have done a 10 days water fast a year ago and now that I have had IBS for a few months I am thinking of doing another 10 day water fast, maybe 11 in oder to get rid of what is possibly SIBO and then re-feed with a FODMAP diet. Thoughts?
Also…Is isolate pea protein powder FODMAP?
Hey carrie, you mentioned that after antibiotics things got worse:( and i guess it happened to me too, but what if i have to get on antibiotics for h. Pylori? Even though a lot of people said that they didn’t get rid of it….
I tried the low-fodmap diet but it was so hard to keep on track:( but I found a different way to manage my symptoms, through gut-directed hypnotherapy on this new app i found. have you tried hypnotherapy before
It’s not hard to do alone.. I did it with a single sheet of paper my gastro doctor suggested I try.. two years later I’m still on the diet and I’m way healthier and lost lots of weight solely because of switching to low fodmap
Hey great video… Interesting study here suggesting in the future analysis of individuals microbiome could determine who will respond in the Low FODMAP diet… the science is getting there…

[sadly this paper is behind a paywall… but essentially suggesting gut profiling is possible, at least in a research setting]
I basically only ate white bread for a month because that was the only thing that didn’t make me sick during the last flare up ):
Needless to say during my last blood work exam I was defficient in vitamin D and B!2 BUT on the positive side, my colestrol is the lower it’s ever been and the liver fat I had is GONE. Way to go bread lol
Quite interesting insight, what’s your opinion on metabolism issues as a cause of IBS?
Thanks for the info but what if garlic and onions are a HUGE trigger everytime I eat it. I thought once u find a trigger, you avoid it?
any advice on relieving the bloating if you eat something that does not agree with you? thanks
I feel like some things from low foodmap diet work perfectly well and some of them not so much: Sometimes i feel very bloated after eating kale, spinach, and green beans….. And they are supposed to be great

hi im new to your channel, great videos and information, ive suffered similar myself think most due to stressful 3 years and injury, have you ever tried pure gum turpentine,it kills all the parasites in the body and candida, ive used it and think its good,I went to the chemist he laughed at me saying I haven’t got worms but I was amazed at what came out, they do lots of damage to the body and your organs which also upsets the gut
Have you tried a Low-FODMAP diet? Have any tips? Let us know!
I tried the low-fodmap diet but it was so hard to keep on track:( but I found a different way to manage my symptoms, through gut-directed hypnotherapy on this new app i found
Is this just about IBS,, or has it got to do with acid reflux too
I subbed. What’s your study title?
I was wondering, so you’re saying the low FODMap diet is useful for a limited time in order to make space for the good bacteria to develop more strains, but then you have to reintroduce the other foods for the prebiotics, correct? Thabk you!
I’m under an NHS dietician and tbh she is useless, just handed me the Kings college leaflets and let me get on with it!
Thanks so much great tips but I disagree with the last one, because I believe it’s the best diet to break a fast safely, so we don’t get refeed syndrome
What are some good probiotics and are soil based ones better? What are some good brands of difestive enzymes? I started using raw apple cider vinegar to help food break down. I had food sensitivity testing done and it said dairy and gluten were the big ones which seems like thats what everyone’s problems are. Spinach, beef and almonds were others. That’s a lot of food to avoid. Especially since I can’t do raw vegetables either.
What is the name of the app you are referring too? I’ll have to get it.
Ive been doing this fodmap on my own since jan 2019 it is as you said,, who knows what i am missing out on. I started on it actually while on winter break to florida. For 3 months because i did not want to spend florida time in the bathroom!
Yes i need to find a dietitian i have mot reintroduced anything. ive lost 16 # and am hungry alot
I wonder about the monash app, but will it work for me in the U S
I agree, i haven’t had one single incident when i cook at home
You are absolutely correct on each point.
just starting the low FODMAP diet thank you for the information it is a lot to digest (sorry for the pun:) ) I have a dietician but as usual all my questions are usually after the appointment so this is terrific
I’m proud of my GP actually doing thorough testing and then educating me about the fodmap diet. I’m on my second (too down) week and I’m quite enjoying the meals (there are lovely fodmap cookbooks). My boyfriend doesn’t have IBS and also feels a significant improvement in bowl health just by mostly eating my diet.
You’re so awesome! I feel so sick ive tried everything. Sometimes I want my gall bladder back
I have never been offered a dietitian on nhs n I have asked loads to see one,I excluded everything n have note reintroduced stuff.i have the been on fodmap for 3 yrs.but with your recipes have tried new things xx
Dose anyone havna good tip too a good bread? I hate that i dont cant have onion and soooo mutch other food. I dont know who too start. I cant afford professonal help…
Thanks for the video. I appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. You certainly have a lot of knowledge on this topic.
Good info. I’ve just started low FODMAP because of SIBO. Few days in and I’ve already noticed positive change in symptoms and reduction in my facial acne (turns out SIBO was triggering my acne). I hope to continue this diet till mid Jan and then start reintroducing foods.
Been loving your videos for years Becky, keep it up! Always enjoy each of your videos:)
Yes, more science please! I’m a very logical person and need to understand the “why” to be able to apply the “how” properly.
IBS is something I struggle with on a weekly basis. Sometimes I’ll string together an entire week of awful tummy aches, and quick runs to the bathroom. But I can honestly say that I know my triggers. I know that with a better diet I can cope and handle my IBS with more ease. I’ve tried all kinds of medicines that just don’t work. What works best for me is eating more fresh non-processed foods, and staying away from triggers like.. fast food, too much chocolate, greasy foods, pre-packaged cheeses, whole milk, and even red meat. MORE THINGS LIKE turkey, eggs, almond milk, or lactaid milk, dark chocolate, bananas, salmon, fresh veggies, and avocados. <3 Sorry, long rant.. lol: MIKE:
Just starting my journey, thank you for your advice. It’s so overwhelming! Especially as I’ve only been vegan for 2 months so it’s even less foods to choose from ☹️ xx
Does anybody know of any other way to be part of a low fodmap group that isn’t Facebook? I had a very nasty stalking and harassment experience and fb were really unhelpful when I asked for help, so I’m not on it anymore.
Should people take gallbladder or liver support supplements?
I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have found you! Definitely subbed and going to the private Facebook group next. I’ve been researching all kinds of things to feel better from the IBS and now even further restricted by eliminating night shades due to awful arthritis flare ups plus embracing a plant-based vegan lifestyle. It’s a lot. Thanks for being so genuine and willing to share your experiences and insight with us!
Thankyou Carrie new to your site. I appreciate all that your sharing on the subject of IBS.
Mine started after a stomach bug! I’ve always had digestive upset but after the stomach bug I got gastritis and now got diagnosed with IBS-it really puts a damper on my life lol
I’m really struggling with gravy and stocks for serving with meat, potatoes, and vegetables. Everything has onion and garlic powder in it. Can anyone suggest a brand that can be used?
how do you reintroduce foods? overtime i do i end up in pain or on the toilet:(
Thanks for the great video! I’m watching you fix your bra straps…this is my biggist pain in the butt!! Why can’t bra straps stay up????
Hello
This is a fabulous channel, I agree with the other person who commented.
I have learned a lot from this video which is wheat contains a sugar, fructan I think, but I thought I had a gluten problem and I’m picking up some blood test forms today from my gp to rule it out but Bread has been the last piece of my jigsaw & now it makes sense. I can’t believe foods can be reintroduced… At the moment the way my body reacts to garlic and mushrooms seems hard to believe I could eat it one day haha, but I am hopeful. This video has been the best for me to understand. I’m not sure about the quantities of citris fruits though especially fresh orange juice and the monash app allows 1 teaspoon of honey apparently so I’ve been having 1 teaspoon of manuka a day in my herbal tea (roibos). I just wanted to say thanks very much for the video. Take care
This is so interesting, I’d definitely appreciate more videos!
I have a strange question, and it might sound really stupid but I’m an anxious person. I’ve just started the low fodmap diet elimination on Saturday but I have an operation coming up on the 13th Feb to do with my bladder. I got all stressed that I could lower my gut bacteria and it would be dangerous, I have no idea how these things work. That’s probably totally ridiculous but I’d rather ask! Thank you for all your help xx
I just started the lofodmap diet yesterday to help with my symptoms of IBS. Thank you for sharing this informative video!:)
The same thing happened to me IBS after antibiotics for giardia. Do you know how we can repair our gut microbiome?
This should be distributed to every GP across the country. Being asked by my GP to do FODMAP without support or referral was setting me up to fail. Please get in touch with Dr Nikki Kanani. Primary Care Medical Director to get this into SystmOne and Emis GP systems so that patients can be at least be given this content. Absolutely brilliant. My self supported FODMAP diet, second time round was made all the easier and ultimately successful with your resource. I would have not done it without this (2019 version) resource. THANK YOU.
Love these videos, really informative.
I’ve had mild IBS for years.. as long as I remember and I just dealt with it as I really enjoyed the bad food and dairy. It never got too bad, just more frequent bathroom breaks. The at Christmas I had a massive attack, took a week off work which is unusual for me and had major sharp pains in the stomach. The doctor took a sample which showed elevated x which pointed towards Chrohns… but 2 weeks later the levels dropped. I was just eating rice and eventually got back to normal and went back to my silly ways. 5 months of nothing then had it again after the Easter weekend and decided to Fodmap it.
I’ve got the app and following it strictly but the bloating isn’t going so I think something with the smiley face isn’t playing nicely with me…or maybe too big portion sizes. I have lost 2 stone which is good though.
PS. My Yorkshire puddings were horrendous yesterday but the low fodmap bangers were awesome from Salisburys.
What a nightmare!!!
I placed my order on June 24th: 12 deodorants.
After placing the order, I asked them not to mention the word “Lucky Vitamin” on the package because Customs in Italy would hold the package thinking it’s some pills or something else you cannot get in Europe and is forbidden.
They told me they couldn’t because as good Americans, they always know better than others.
Sure enough, the package got hold at customs on July 2nd and I haven’t received anything yet. We are August 15th now!!!
They don’t want to deal with customs and tell me I should call them, which of course is impossible!
Communication with Alisha the “Happy Wellness Ambassador” is like spitting in the wind. I sent many emails and she doesn’t help at all!
They don’t want to send me the money back because they want the package back, which I don’t have.
It’s a real nightmare!!!!
Don’t ever buy anything with them if you don’t live in the USA! Trust me, you will regret it!!!
