i just avoid anything sweet…coz once i taste sweets, HELLO ICE CREAM!!!
Lots of junk food, hope you run 10 miles after all that fat and junk cheese:(
100 years from now it won’t matter… but if you’re losing weight for health reasons, this is the way to go about it. But please make good habits, this is how you stay the course.
We have just changed from rolled oats with our breakfast, to pumpkin seeds and chia seeds and it is helping us with our maintenance of ketosis.
So many people emphasize what not to eat, and it is refreshing to hear what we can!!
Loved this video, reason doing this diet! All started with seizure and Controlling them bought a book and from there the whole family is losing weight including me! Feeling awesome doing more and lots more energy! Thanks again for the display of the keto sweet treats that I just got today! I’m excited to get baking!
she is using margirine wrong oil also you need the fat from chicken for high fat to reduce insullin levels she needs to go to dr joel wallach videos on you tube and learn some of the mistakes that will kill her clients and you, also dr glidden, butter bob briggs videos
Skimmed milk, margarine and low fat yogurt and everything is clear…
How can someone with IBS do Keto? I am avoiding dairy, chocolate, wheat for a while to heal. I am eating eggs, flaxseed powder, chia, olives and olive oil, blueberries, coconut oil, pumpkin seeds and a small amount of pecans.
I’ve never heard mzt described, thanks for the simple clarification.
Can I have a low calorie kombucha 8 oz (I need to use it up)?
It’s amazing how quickly advertising switched people from the more traditional eggs and bacon, or eggs and ham, or steak & eggs breakfast to sugar and starch for breakfast. At least in some areas, it was not uncommon to have some greens with that breakfast, usually cooked with fat, maybe even sauteed in a tasty fat. Sure, bread, too. It was used to clean the fat the eggs were fried in and any remaining egg yolk from the plate, but bread used to be a minor part of the meal, and was served with lots of butter.
Or boiled eggs. There was even a thing called and egg cup, to hold the egg and make it easier to eat a soft-boiled egg in the shell.
Why not recommend a return to that way of eating? If one must have breakfast at all? Time can be an issue, I guess, but it literally takes minutes to boil an egg, or fry one.
It’s expensive as f*** to eat this diet in a satisfying and sustainable way.
Pumpkin seeds yes, but not sunflower seeds as they contain lots of carbs.
Dang… why she had to say “animals”.. my guilty conscious is getting to me…
you had me til you went with the fake mashed potatoes. I made the cauliflower version they are awful
TO ALL MY “KETO” FRIENDS-HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LOW CARB CHRISTMAS!
On the 12 days of Christmas, my true love gave to me
12 packs of bacon, 11 jars of olives, 10 cheesy burgers, 9 spinach omelets, 8 roast beef slices, 7 cans of tuna, 6 tubs of butter, 5 grass-fed steaks
4 pints of berries, 3 fat bombs, 2 avocados, and a stack of crispy pork rinds. LJ Thomas
This is not a good video it’s a great video. I embrace everything about Dr. Zinn’s approach and philosophy. I just bought the book. Practical, reasonable, and sustainable. Even if you don’t buy the biochemistry, an LCHF diet is a great platform with which to break a carb addict like myself off of the nasty habit of popping carbs WHEN I’M NOT REALLY HUNGRY. With a relatively (calories still matter….) free pass on fat and protein, my mindset isn’t not denial, its on form. Ultimately, the key to long term life style change is only eating when hungry. Therefore, focusing on the highest satiation/calorie, is the opening we need for long term adaptation to a healthy lifestyle.
Every one should educate themselves by watching these videos.
Seems like a lot of the stuff that is supposed to be bad for us is now supposed to be good. Why can’t we just make up our minds for crying out loud? What the hell is cauliflower mashed potatoes and why isn’t bacon on the list? I give up! I’m going to just live off of ice cream from now on…
The audio echo of the room makes listening stressy. The mics are wrong positioned.
My work environment is a big challenge, I am constantly being sabotaged by work colleagues even though they know what I am trying to do. In fact, it seems worse when they know that I am trying to lose weight.
You can’t spot reduce belly fat or what have you. When you lose fat, you lose it over your whole body.
My father is healthy 76 and he is still hard working man and he eats Everything (no diet whatsoever)
So, I just need a clear answer. Is Costco Rotisserie Chicken Keto? And are Tuna pouches like Starkist Keto? And if a Tuna pouch says that it has 1g sugar and 0g added sugar, can I still eat it on Keto?
I’m allergic to nuts, seeds and dark chocolate. Can someone recommend an alternative for me?
Excellent video. All of the foods mentioned are good for everyone! Eating healthy foods it the key to good health.
honesty I took the list you mentioned but I bought the less expensive ones, no need to buy everything to enjoy the food
thanks alot for this video
I thought olive oil becomes carcinogenic when heated and was best to use raw?
I do not understand. Many keto videos say stay away from almonds. So, which is it?
Avocado oil for high temp deep frying, not
Repeat NOT olive oil, it has a low smoke point
I am 70 yrs in about 1 month have recently been introduced to the LCHF concept by my doctor, I am doing as much research as I can find, I have RA, recently have had a total knee replacement and have a goal of loosing perhaps 15-20 kgs.
1:39 did that chicken just move? How fresh of ingredients are we using here?
Super frustrated. 6 months and no loss. Bought a meter and found out that I am not in ketosis! I just don’t get how I can be eating only 15-20 carbs a day max and after six months, not only am I NOT in ketosis but I haven’t lost a pound. I’ve tried doing it at lower calories versus higher calories and it doesn’t seem to change anything. I have though cured my T2 diabetes and love this way of life. All the keto calculators tell me I should be eating roughly 1800 cal a day for my weight, height and age. I do follow the advice of several popular keto doctors and understand the whole calorie setpoint thing. But it just doesn’t seem to matter whether I eat lower calories or higher calories… I just go back-and-forth within a pound or two and always end up back at my starting point. I’m shocked. I actually gained back the 6 pounds in water weight that I lost the first week, so I’m back up to the weight I started at. Is that all fat now??? I’m even drinking 60 ounces of purified water a day, making sure to take my supplements and electrolytes. I’m lightly active…like walking the dog and housework. I know it’s not a lot, compared to other people, but I have a broken vertebrae in my lower back, so I have chronic pain that keeps me from getting more physical exercise than I would like. My Fitbit tells me that I walk anywhere between 1.5 3 miles a day. I generally get in anywhere from 2,000-4,500 steps a day depending on weather and how far I walk the dog. Although exercise should not be a huge factor, as I’ve seen hundreds of stories of people losing 50-75 pounds on this diet with very little exercise. But I guess I’m severely insulin resistant. Or could there be something else wrong with me. I have a fatty liver and I had my thyroid checked last year —and it was fine. so the liver issue is the only thing I’m aware of. And supposedly, keto is great for a fatty liver. Anyone have any thoughts? Have you heard stories like mine where people are literally measuring and weighing and documenting everything and being extremely strict and still not losing? I do have some Erythritol/Monk fruit sweetener in some of the recipes and fat bombs that I make but it’s not excessive. However, I have read that some people are super sensitive to even the keto sweeteners and it can keep insulin levels up. Maybe that’s the problem? I’ve cut out almost all dairy and that hasn’t changed anything. Regardless, I’m not giving up. I’ve come too far!! I’m going to figure this out if it takes me another two years!!
1) Extra Virgin Olive Oil isn’t really good for high heat frying (great for salads though), use Avocado Oil instead since it has a much higher smoke point but if you’re sauteing and keeping the temps under 330-350 degrees then EVOO is fine;
2) On keto you want fatty cuts of meat (just like fish), poultry in general tends to be too lean I mean of course you can eat it, but it isn’t a “pillar” in Keto; and
3) Avocado has to be on the list.
23:10 where and how do we get 600% of our vit. C on a low to no fruit diet? vitamin C isn’t usually found in high fat foods..?
Excellent Dr. Zinn. Thank you for the great work you do. Good luck enlightening the establishment: archaeology is not the only discipline which deals with fossils.
Last time I was invited to a potluck, I hit up the olive bar at my supers and brought a tray with all the different olives. Cheese and crackers as an add onit was a huge hit, and I was able to stay keto while enjoying it. Walking by the caramel brownie tray was HARD!
Keto. The trick is basically NO rice, bread, pasta, veg from below the ground, super sweet fruits, sugar, or processed foods. Watch those nuts and olives, as the carb count adds up quick. Try to keep those carbs under 40-50 grams per day. Walk or lift light weights, or heavy, every other day or so. Water. Avocado. Water. Fast for about 12 hours at least once or twice per month. Use keto burn supps if you like, as they put you in ketosis quick and usually contain caffeine to thwart (great word!) hunger. Thwart!
No Bacon!?! Are you a shill for the Vegetarian Consulate? Perhaps in too deep with the folks at SizzleLean?
We’re not supposed to cook at high temperatures with olive oil ie: frying…For that use Avacado oil..
Raw eggs are full protein profile. When you cook eggs you loose the the full profile so you need red meat, pork. Spinach make full profile again!
Emphasis on high-protein in these foods is misleading. Ketogenic diet’s are high fat, not high-protein.
Coconut oil is better to use to cook with. Olive oil is better in cool foods like salads.
I just watched this woman on breakfast. She actually has No idea what she is talking about when it comes to meat. Im amazed shes still in business.
You can find the study on the oils here: https://actascientific.com/ASNH/pdf/ASNH-02-0083.pdf You can always use use lard, coconut oil, or avocado oil for frying if you prefer those!
Yogurt is so simple to make. Why does no one suggest doing that? Simply draining it through cheese cloth or a clean dish towel will give you ‘Greek’ yogurt. (Note: This name is a marketing label. When you go to Greece, you will be disappointed. They have a drained yogurt aka ‘yogurt cheese’, but it has another name.)
We also need to beware of the fruit! It is so easy to eat a bunch of carbs in a hurry with fruit, especially the modern varieties that have been heavily selected to be very sweet.
Good video
Shitty music
Dump the thumpy base
Gave me a headache
I’m 24 years old my weight is 78 and my height is 5.8 n I want to lose 15 kg m on keto diet but I eat meat n chicken both in a day n use egg too but I don’t know y I can’t lose my weight I stop taking carbs or sugar I think I eat many proteins that’s y my body is not going in ketosis I wana get my body in ketosis what I do plz suggest me a good keto diet
A little delayed on the comment. A friend of mine started having vision problems doing Keto. Seeing as you have some good insight. What are your thoughts? He does have some A1c issues, but not injecting
It’s pretty much what a pregnant woman has to eat during her pregnancy.
Excellent video. Beautiful narrator. Helpful information. Subscribed.
I don’t think any credible sports dietitian would recommend the “standard” diet as Caryn has pointed out. Especially for a female boxer. Cherry picking at its best
This lady doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Extra virgin olive oil is not suitable for deep frying to start with.
Just don’t eat bread, any veggie that is white Beans and corn and Peas do not eat.. Rice, and pasta. Only eat fruit that ends in berries. You do this you will lose weight. Get a tread mill and walk an hour on it. Put it in front of a big screen TV with one of the movies you like to watch and you will be finish before you know it. You do not have to start out full speed ahead. start slow and work your way up to how ever fast you want to go. This will make your heart and lungs stronger and will burn some the calories you have ate.
This does not help people very much, who suffer from gout, which often accompanies people with a fatty liver, who need a ketogenic diet! A diet without the red meats! Or fine tune this diet a little bit!
Thank you, that was very helpful. Too bad about the dairy though, which is a no-no for people who suffer from atopic dermatitis.
1 eggs
2 olives
3 meat and seafood
4 high fat diary
5 dark chocolate
6 berries
7 alliums
8 cabage
9 coconut oil
10 nuts and seeds
I started keto today after failing back in November of 2019. I failed because I was dumb and didn’t go back on once I fell off the wagon by going to Denny’s and having pancakes
A standard diet that actual real people eat doesn’t look anything like that presented.
What I perceive as a standard diet in practice is for example:
* Breakfast: 2-3 slices of white bread, butter, ham/cheese. A bowl of cornflakes cereals with milk.
* Lunch: A mountain of macaroni, 12 meatballs, Ketchup.
* Dinner: A mountain of rice, half a plate of chili con carne.
* Snacks: Cinamon bun, Donut, Fizzy drinks.
This is hardly anything but carbohydrates and very nutrient poor.
Apparently I’ve been doing a keto diet my whole life after watching this
Time: 08:00I was actually told (approx 40 years ago) that one should boil (blanch) the cutted vegetables for
15-30 secounds, before freezing, to maintain as much nutrions as possible.
Thank you
Henrik
Extra virgin olive oil for deep frying at high temperatures??????
IS OAT MEAL APART OF A LOW CARB DIET? SHOULD I STOP EATING OAT MEAL IF I CHOOSE TO GO THE LOW CARB ROUTE?
I am so sick of videos promoting dairy and videos against it. Videos promoting meat and videos against it.
What’s funny is that both parties are backed up by “some studies”
We had keto tacos for dinner last night. And I was like, am I gonna lose weight this way? Cause this doesn’t taste like I’m gonna lose weight…
I have to say, great video. And keto dieet works great for me as i am insulin resistant…BUT cauliflower rice/mash will not make you stop missing the the real thing for some time:-D as i missed it for about a month and a half into the keto dieet. But after that time i stopped missing a lot of things inc sweets, desserts and other sugar filled foods.
Minimum daily requirements are set up for standard American diet….of course processing is entirely different when a body is in ketosis….sodium intake comes to mind…..
This almost seems wrong ♂️I’m watching this and getting hungry. I just ate a steak dinner! I shouldn’t even be thinking about food. Wait, wait… So I can eat delicious foods and lose weight? Sign me up and pass me the g’d*mn chicken… NOW!
please unlearn these mistakes thankypu i only want you to become a better person and help heal people the right way praise yahweh
I gain weight if I exceed 1200 cals/day. I’m on a 600-800 cal LCHF diet (<10 g.carbs/day) and losing about 1 to 1.5 lbs/wk. How can I possibly meet the RDI requirements without using vitamin supplements? And if vitamins and minerals are so essential, why, after 4 months on keto with some 72 hr. fasts, am I not dead now?
The echo in the audio is really unpleasant and does not contribute to an atmosphere of competence around this whole topic.
Speakers and presenters: you have to be concerned about the technical quality of your presentation because lordie knows, the technicians paid to look after you really don’t give a shit.
On nuts and seeds It seems that nuts and seeds can be a useful part of a keto or low carb diet. Yet overconsumption of nuts and seeds can be a problem. They contain anit-nutrients and other substances that we should consider before eating them in quantity. From the Ancestral Health channel on YouTube: ‘The Risks and Benefits of Eating Plants’ by Dr. Georgia Ede https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdRBFiBWQZQ
Nuts and seeds should probably not be gobbled down like boxed cereals, or a bag of Doritos. That said, it seems that the habit of mindlessly ingesting large amounts of food does gradually diminish as one becomes adapted to a low carb or keto diet. Many people have found that the switch to higher quality, low carb, less processed, and more nutrient dense foods does naturally, effortlessly lead to eating less.
Eating less but higher quality food can offset the higher cost of the better quality foods that are low in carbs and ketogenic. Some have even seen their food costs drop as they become adapted to burning fat instead of sugar and starch.
that cauliflower ‘ you won’t even miss the real thing’ is a big ole lie hahaha i like cauliflower but it has nothing on the potato for absorbing butter and mayo or whatever you put in it. i’ve been low carb and keto for over 20 years and i’d rather just do without tbh.
insulin is not our enemy, glucose intolerance is, insulin doesnt cause hyperinsulinemia but the glucose resistance does, hence why we get fat, fat is a defensive mechnism against the damage from high glucose. it is not just that you eat to much or get to many caloires but that your fat cells are there to not only store energy but also recycle cholesterol which gets oxidized and damaged to by glycation, the cells dont want the sugar not necessarily due to be overfull (otherwise the overeating is being caused by some other factor) but rather they lack some nutrient or enzyme or some other thing that the cell cannot handle gasoline (sugar). when the fat cells get damaged they increase in number (more hands make the load lighter) not because lyour eating to many caloires per say. another defensive mechnism against the damage of this gasoline. but as time goes by and more damage is done (from dieting, low fat diets, junk carbs etc)the more fat cells you need to survive. when do you stop getting fat from allthis? when you die. so as we age and eat junk or low fat or crappy fats, the more damage we are doing and the more fat cells we need and the more stressed the fat cells are.with me so far? the problem araises for those who cannot get fat. those diabetics or insulin resistance who do not have the thrifty gene to get fat when your body is being destroyed by our crappy diets. this is my thinking anyway. also something about fats, ever see those people who show the body work of someone to show how much fat is sitting i the blood? well fats are benign. they dont harmthe body (except crap oils) so they sit inthe blood to be used as energy and doesnt affect insulin levels. so they dont do any damage, so they are allowed to be in the blood all the time for energy and fats are also used to repair cells and to clean the body out of toxins too. this is my theory anyway. what do you think does this make sense? I am on lower carb but not aiming for ketosis, but rather to lower the glucose load and allow my body to heal itself so it can be glucose tolerant again (but only healthy carbs not junk).
Great video young lady. If you could answer just one question for me I would love it even more.
What about cottage cheese. Good or not good?
I am fairly new and looking to expand my dishes to eat. I have lost 30 pounds and brought my A1c’s down from 13.2 down to 6.3.
Thank y’all so much for the help from your channel and the many others who help all of us in need of guidance.

And I also think resistance training is beneficial to health.
Confused…
Dark chocolate is awful just bitter is there any milk chocolate with stevia
A good talk, but I found Dr. Stephen Phinney’s ‘Acheiving and Maintaining Nutritional Ketosis’ more informative. Also talks by Dr. Tim Noakes, among others.
This was a great lecture in that it shows a person how to implement the low carb diet in practice. Thank you Dr. Zinn.
