I am 40 next year, regularly use Creatine, Glutamine, and Whey Protein, and sometimes a Protein mixed with Creatine and BCAAs, have done for 10yrs and drink 3ltrs of water daily. The question is two fold: should I have any down time off the supplements during the year. And for issues with my rotator cuff is there any additional supplements to use for healing such an injury (nearly back to best) Have taken on board you advice about not doing bar pull ups and more angled shoulder raises, ( which all has helped) keep up the good quality info on these. Supplementation of Glutamine does nothing for most people. It’s almost entirely absorbed by the stomach lining. There was a lot of hype around it because of a study showing its effectiveness for burn victims, but it has consistently failed in any sort of muscle building in healthy subjects. There has been some limited evidence around immune system benefits, but it is generally considered the biggest bust supplement.
Yes L-Glutamine is very important, but it’s a non essential amino acid. We produce it and we can get it from food sources along with whey protein powders, as they provide an excellent amount of L-glutamine, so there would be no need to supplement it. Biggest waste of money for the typical person already supplementing with whey protein, so supplement on top of supplement does not make financial sense. Look up from other experts here in YouTube and this is up there with BCAA’s for biggest money wasters.

Nothing bad happens when you stop taking it. You probably would not recover as fast as taking Glutamine though.

Mechan-X joint supplements is a rip off (sorry Jeff) It is $50 for only 30 servings. The ingredients are Glucosomine, chondrotin, Hylacuraic acid, Boswellia, Treebine root. Most of this stuff is standard in joint supplements. Guys if you are going to put this much energy into working out, you better put the effort into your shopping. Buying a bunch of over priced supplements isn’t going to make you ripped. I don’t care what Jeff says.

I can order them over the internet but they are pretty expensive considering shipping etc. and they proved to be extremely hard to find in any shops. Would casein work well or maybe some other protein powder with lower concentration of protein and higher concentration of carbs?
A FAR better mix that I still can’t believe has not been produced, is a mix of l-glutamine, the BCAAs in a 4:1:1 ratio of leucine-isoleucine-valine, l-arginine-l-pyroglutamate-lysine in a 2:2:1 ratio, and glycine. One scoop would yield 5g glutamine, 5g leucine, 5g arginine, 5G pyroglutamate, 5g glycine, 1g isoleucine, 1g valine, 2.5g lysine

I have taken l glutamine for years. I take it because it significantly reduced my muscle soreness after intense workouts, that I was doing 6 days a week. I also noticed when I did not take it and did fasting cardio I would smell ammonia on my breath post workout. Is this the ammonia molecule being broke off during catabolism? Great videos!

I’ve been taking 1 gram of L-glutamine in pill form every morning on an empty stomach for about 4 weeks. As someone who’s been diagnosed with alternating IBS (sometimes I can go too much, sometimes I can’t at all) and frequent flair ups, gas, bloating, you name it….I can honestly say that I haven’t had any tummy issues in the last 4 weeks.
Can L glutamine use with herbal medical? At the same time can both be use?

I bought a 1000g container from my local body building shop AAA supplements in Moorabin, Melbourne, Australia. its buy ULTIMATE NUTRITION called GLUTA PURE, Micronized L-Glutamine im using it with the Ultimate Nutrition PROSTAR 100% Whey protein powder after my workouts. there were many brands at the shop of L-Glutamine but I choose the same brand as the Protein powder I bought. Is it a good one to use? im taking a teaspoon full into my mouth with water followed by my protein powder with low fat milk and water in my shaker mornings and after my weight workouts is that good? 1 Tsp teaspoon is about 5g per serve? L glutamine worked so well for me! If I’m feeling bloated and experiencing digestive issues in a couple days the bloating dissipates and I can feel the clarity in my mind come back!
I take for digestion and recovery. Works great. Thanks to the great Leroy Colbert for ways recommending Glutamine. He always said to take 20 grams daily on an empty stomach and never mix mix protein shake. R.I.P. Leroy!

Wondering if l glutamine will make it difficult to absorb my iron supplements? Reason I ask is because it says not to take iron with antacids.which of course is for acid in stomach. I was just thinking,since l glutamine is for leaky gut it might be similar?

I was on high dose red yeast rice (and high dose ubiquinol) but still got terrible debilitating muscle weakness and pains, also tendonitis, high CK and high inflammation markers. Having left off the red yeast, my muscles have very slowly recovered. Recent test for leaky gut showed positive so i have been looking into glutamine and then your video came through. I realise i may have other reasons for getting leaky gut too but wondered if red yeast rice may theoretically have played a part. Thank you for all your invaluable videos:)
