So the studies done on the health effects of kombucha have been done on animals? All the scientists had to do was invite me over and woulda drank all the bucha they were giving the bunnies and rats. I went on shopping spree for healthy foods and drinks and I decided to get some kombucha just to try it and I’m not even kidding it was the worst fucking shit ever like the taste was so unbearable I had to plug my nose and the after taste was even worse tasted like straight up vinegar
disliked it cos of all the annoying cringy unnecessary “jokes”
I know this is only anectotal, but I don’t have as many allergic breakouts when drinking kombucha regularly. I think it strengthens my gut health and that in turn controls candida overgrowth. I’m no health professional, but the results are undeniable. I’ve also fallen in love with the taste. Kevita cherry and GTS ginger are my personal favorites. Good video!!

Yes it’s true for me. I suffered from insomnia for about 2 years then I consulted a psychiatrist who prescribed Agomelatine. The medicine didn’t work for first two weeks but then I started taking probiotics with Agomelatine. Insomnia is history:D

Skip the unending, useless jokes and get the summary: As of the recording of this video, there have been no clinical studies on humans consuming kombucha, only animals, and it appears to improve animal health. More research needs to be done before we can definitely claim that kombucha is either good or bad for humans.

Wrong. This video is very outdated and completely mis-stating facts.
This badly needs an update. Citing one case of homemade kombucha is really inadequate. There’s commercially available kombucha that tastes great, low in calories and has all sorts of probiotics associated with a healthy fit. Please update.
I am disappointed in this video for several reasons. Not because I am a huge Kombucha fan, but:
1. You disparage health food stores. I bought “How Not to Die in a Health Food Store.” Should I not read that?
2. The case you cite in the video was ONE CASE ONE!
3. You TOTALLY NEGLECTED TO MENTION THE PERSON MENTIONED IN THIS CASE HAD HIV. He had a totally compromised immune system.

A 22 year old male, newly diagnosed with HIV, became short of breath and febrile to 103.0F, within twelve hours of Kombucha tea ingestion. He subsequently became combative and confused, requiring sedation and intubation for airway control. Laboratories revealed a lactate of 12.9 mmol/L, and serum creatinine of 2.1 mg/dL.”
The presence of anthrax Bacillus in kombucha tea fermented in unhygienic condition was reported by Sadjadi (1998). Further, Gamundi and Valdivia (1995) stated the risks of consuming kombucha beverage by HIV‐positive patients.

Well I’ve been drinking the staff for almost all my life and never had any problem, as a matter of fact I don’t even have a so called Dr as I’m generally never sick… I’m extremely active, fly paragliding, run marathons and triathlon, climb mountains, do scuba diving, do martial arts and pretty much everything that most of the people at my age is avoiding as I’m a 52 years old guy. If this is true what this study said in this video, the Chinese and the Japanese community would disappear from this planet as they drink this tea all their lives… Commonsense tells me if the longest living humans on this planet are living healthy lives for so long, and if me at my age don’t even remember when I’ve paid a visit to the doctors, it must be because they a I must be doing something right! I’m also a vegan and I do believe this is part of my healthy life style… Is this medical report financed by any pepsico companies or the corrupt FDA? Is this study done independently? I know you’re trying to keep people safe from dubious substances, but this video seems a little fear-based. I’d like to know more about the acid blood case, but I’d also like to see more studies about kombucha. It obviously isn’t going to extend human life to ridiculous lengths, but it seems like a good non-dairy probiotic. How is it different from eating sauerkraut?

Just need to be aware and be sure your not one of the few that don’t take well to it. It could even be a mix of what your diet is that causes the increase in lactic acidosis (which is quite likely the more predominate cause).

That’s one case. There needs to be more research done on it. I started drinking kombucha over a year ago but not regularly. Now I drink it about 3-4 times a week. It’s good sh*t, except for the sugar content, but it’s a helluva lot less than soda. Water (mostly), kefir, kombucha and regular tea…works for me.
My Q is for people who are low in ferratin, how can they eat a plant based diet if their body isn’t absorbing the iron (they eat lots of vitamin C & Bs).

You keep saying “spiked” which is weird. Kombucha is fermented tea, you don’t add it to coffee or tea and it doesn’t “spike” anything. Educate yourself at our site FOR FREE (so angry that people sell things they believe in? strange). Kombucha is a FOOD. Just like other foods such as probiotic foods or things like turmeric, they are very healthy for a body in good shape. If your body is broken, make sure you can eat certain foods. @12quillemall5321 there is a difference between acid foods and acid-FORMING foods for example, lemon juice is another acid food that leaves alkaline ash behind, Kombucha has the same effect. They are not acid-forming but alkaline-forming foods.

Mistakes in this video:
1. Kombucha is not a mushroom. It’s not even really a fungus. It’s yeast and bacteria. (yes yeast are fungal, but they are not generally considered fungus)
2. Kombucha raises the pH of the body, it does not lower it. It is an alkalizer.
3. The case quoted says “suspected link” there was no link demonstrated, doctors were stumped, took a wild guess.
4. There is no “long line of cases” there are none. How many people die from prescription drugs every year?

I guess if you drink a gallon or two per day, you might have problems. Or if you drink less but it’s been fermenting for a couple of months and is mostly vinegar.

2 things inaccurate I noticed. Actually there are a lot of beers that go as low as 3% not 4% in the US. Also most Kombucha sold in the market today is no more than 0.5% abv as manufacturers test for alcohol content to keep it out of the liquor laws. Of course, homemade or unregulated Kombucha is another story.
23:26 So he’s suggesting 2 million years of evolution didn’t change anything to our physiology and that we should eat leaves and fruits all day long like chimps and gorillas? Why then do we have a digestive tract that is closer to one of a carnivore, about 5-6x our body length, a short colon, no caecum and a stomach pH of 1.5 which is really really acidic, like most carnivores. Our digestive tract is very different from the one of our closest relatives.
Only taking into account the first 90% of our evolution and ignoring the last 10% were we evolved a lot, is very dishonest and misleading.
That was a very good selection of questions. I hate it when people get Dr. Greger’s valuable internet time and ask him “How did you get into WFPB research?” or “What do you eat in a day?” Just because he discusses those topics in every presentation already up on the internet. Vegains and his viewers come up with really good questions.

Do you really need to scream so loud? I came here for some educational content about kombucha, but it feels like I’m watching show for kids with high and constant stimuli to counter their short attention span. The video itself is good, it provide answers to multiple questions about kombucha, but those answers doesn’t need to be shouted at the viewer. And if that is the esthetic or artistic choice, then maybe get a sound guy / editor to throw a compressor on your mic. That way you can keep screaming and the sound levels won’t fluctuate that much.

Veganism and mental health. I’m convinced that kombucha is unhealthy on the basis of personal experience. In the late 70’s it became the rage and many of my griends were making it. Each mushroom makes anther mushroom wvery day, so it’s very easy to make plenty of the carbonated “tea.” So all my friends were drinking it, then we all started feeling weird, decided there was something not so great about the stuff and all abandoned it. People are making millions of dollars selling kombucha on the basis of dubious claims.

Kombucha is a wonderful digestif beverage! Eating well helps with sustaining vitality like any one needs to be reminded but whenever we do indulge (red meat which takes up to 3 weeks to break down in our gut before it becomes stool assuming you don’t have any other blockages, heavy saturated fats, etc), similar to let’s say kimchi, kombucha also helps immensely to make sure that whatever shouldn’t stay in your body doesn’t plaque your insides and get too backed up. So instead of needing a colonic every whenever, get ONE to irrigate so you can absorb all better nutrients and just eat and drink better to keep yourself regulated. Is it the holy grail? Not one thing is, no. You can’t just eat kale and expect to be alright so of course kombucha by its lonesome isn’t a miracle beverage but don’t done play the benefits either! ❤

I thınk that ıt really correllates. I had a candıda overgrowth ın my ıntestınes and also suffered wıth acne. I took grapefruıtseed extract and probıotıcs and ıt cleared up. Impacted wısdom teeth can also severely affect acne, especıally on your cheeks and neck. So check out both. And ofcourse the more vegan your dıet the better. But dont have too many soy products as ıt can affect your estrogen levels.
