I love kale smoothies. But i was reading that 1 cup of kale has 133 percent of vit A., another web site said 206 percent for vit A. So my one cup of raw kale in my smoothy is too much. The mayo clinic says a person can become ill if go over 200mg for long period of time. But was also doing cod liver oil. Which is also 150 percent of Vit A. So need be watchful of the nutrient contents consumed. Take care. I do love that kale smoothy.
My dog loves eating roasted/ cooked kale sometimes. Just a little. Cabbage can really make them fart if in large amounts.
I am a big fan of parsley too. I always have a big pot of it to put into my green smoothies. Another plus is that the slugs don’t go after it like they do kale in the garden.

the other day I decided I was gonna get healthy, so I ate a huge spinach/kale salad. Several hours later I felt lightheaded and really sweaty/clammy!!!

When I got tired of kale smoothies i just boil it (yes I know it reduces the nutrient content) but what’s nice is you can add some nutritional yeast and a tablespoon of butter and it makes a delicious broth. Oh and while it’s boiling add a smashed garlic clove to compound this super food broth with a nice antioxidant.

Good to know, I shall up my parsely use! I use it in large amounts in a delicious Spanish dish with onions, a whole head of garlic, carrots, tomatoes, firm-cooking lentils, and smoked paprika powder. I also use a lot in veggie paellas.

So I am a newbie when it comes to Kale. At the grocery store, there are at least 3 if not more types of Kale. What kind of Kale do you recommend for the Kale shakes? At Trader Joe’s, there is chopped Kale that is stiff (and says “for cooking”) and then there is baby Kale for salads and another couple of choices in between. I’ve seen posts on IG by people saying “dinosaur” kale is “the best”. I’ve looked for a video about the different types of Kale and what would be the most beneficial but I don’t see anything like that. Would you please reply and let me know? Thanks from CA!

I found a “hide the kale smoothie” on the internet kale, blueberries, green banana (more nutritious and less sugar than yellow bananas), pure pomegranate juice, and hemp seeds (or chia seeds if you don’t have hemp). I try to have this every day, and i feel amazing after having one.
The easiest veg to grow. Grows all year long. Going out to pic some for a shake now. A 2 x 2 patch will keep you supplied with organic kale all year, even winter.

I know both are important or healthy but when I drink plain celery juice on a empty stomach opposed to plain kale juice I just feel so much healthier and calmer and more energetic from the kale.. He didn’t mention sulforaphane and it’s ability to kill cancer cells. You have to cut the raw kale up, let it sit awhile say 20 to 30 minutes (if your going to cook it). If eating it raw the suloraphane forms in you naturally.
Dr Berg you failed to mention that its also EXTREMELY high in thiocyanate. COOK IT FIRST.

Blending destroys the fibre so little of the nutrients are absorbed into the body. Basically, all the good things flush and you gain next to nothing by blending vegetables or fruits.
I have a small blender and that kale always gets stuck in there. So i always put some oil besides water. Is it ok? i like linseed, sesame and olive oils.

5 celery stalks, 1 cup kale, 1 lemon, 2 red grapefruits, half a sweet potato ( cooked), and hand full cooked baby carrots and orange juice and blend. When it’s blended well pour thru a strainer. Drink juice and put pulp with an avocado on triscuts. Really yummy

There’s a common misconception that beta-carotene found in fruits and vegetables is the same thing as vitamin A. It’s not. Beta-carotene is the precursor (inactive form) of retinol, the active form of vitamin A. While beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A in humans, only 3% gets converted in a healthy adult.
My rabbits wont eat frozen thawed kale. Hope that isnt a sign that it isnt good once frozen… loving kale shakes. Have them for brekky or lunch every day.

I love parsley! <3 Dill too... I always have a bunch of each in my fridge. I put them in a glass of water like a bouquet because they won't wilt for up to 3 days that way. If I leave them out of the water the next day they start wilting. In my country parsley goes with tomatoes and dill goes with cucumber but hey! you can do whatever you want =)

I love parsley. I don’t have it as much as I would like. I just pick up some because it was on sell. I like the smell and It looks so pretty. Great Video.
