I walk 10-12K steps a day exclusively out of a walking session. It takes me 2.5hrs. I split it 1hr in the morning and remaining in the evening. I love walking so much because it’s the only exercise where I can also get other stuff done like listen to a podcast or audiobook (when I I’m running or doing some other high impact cardio, I can’t really be as present) or catch up with a friend or family member on the phone. On another topic, I once accidentally lost 10lbs in a month because I took a waitressing job in a huge restaurant where we constantly had to be walking the entire shift. I only had like three 4-6 hour shifts a week, and I didn’t change my diet any. If anything, I was eating crappier than usual because of all the free food the staff would get to eat when dishes got sent back to the kitchen. im finding walking is good to replace easy running in a running program of training. So, still do the hard fast runs….. but rest of time instead of easy running for an hour a day… I just crank up the incline on tread to 12% and walk 3.7 mph. And what happens is you get the low intensity cardio of easy pace running without the shock to joints… bones… tendons… etc… this means can fit more training in without injury…. can run harder on fast days too. Good stuff.

I am here to tell you, they are an investment in your health and well worth the effort. I’m 72, and can assure you, it is time well spent to maintain my independence in my golden years.

I had my c4 c5 vertabrae collapsed and I had to have an operation otherwise I would of been a quadriplegic and when they opened me up the damage was worsened than they thought it was. I’m walking 90 minutes every day, 5 days a week. I work 5 days Monday to Friday and i walk to work 45 minutes at morning and 45 minutes at evening to home. I walk as fast as I can I get so tired. I work 10 hours and I work in a restaurant so I work all the time standing or walk even at work. I do exercise at weekends at home about 20-30 minutes. I keep a very good healthy diet. I drink 12-15 glass of water per every 24 hours, but I never lose weight it’s been 3 years I’m weighting between 68-70 I’m not good at hight so look like I’m weighting 80-90. I don’t know what should I do??
Lately I’m going for long walks because I’m bored and I take my dog with me and she seems so much happier now

10,000 steps per hour is not walking or even power walking… that’s a light jog with a shorter gait.
I am walking about 2 hours, starting at 5am, and wearing a weight vest with currently 36lbs added. I am getting usually 6.5 miles and over 10K steps…, as I am training for mountaineering… every additional step throughout the day just adds to the benefits.
The recommendation is generally to try to achieve 10,000 steps per day, to achieve weightloss and health benefits… as most people won’t get more than 4,000 steps in per day…

Walking is definitely effective, after trying and failing with so many different approaches, I just cut down my calories to train my stomach to eat smaller portions, less sugars and salt. i walked 3 km daily and then did half an hour on the exercise bike. drank at least 3-4 litres of water. I did this for about 2 months and now 3 months since starting my journey I am down 22 kilograms and feel great, still another 25-30 kilograms to go but I feel great!!

Since for days i walk every day early morning at 6 a.m. and i walk 2.81mile.some time 2.87mile. So i feel unbeliveble. So very very enrgaitic feeling. And no feel to go back to home when i m walking. So best exersice. I love to walk.

Walking 10,000 steps in a single hour is not a goal most people would be able to meet. To put that in a beginner’s walking video is ridiculous. 10,000 steps in two hours is doable for a beginner, but even that could be very difficult.
Search insulin resistance. Watch a few videos. If walking increases insulin it is NOT a good thing.
