Is there an incline setting on the treadmill that better equals the more strenuous aspects of outdoor running?
I have started to take my bike or walk to the gym everytime, Holy fk it helps alot.
I believe walking & powerwalking is a excellent way to attract good overall health good circulation lowers high blood pressure & cholesterol levels may god bless us please send more positive feedback
i feel much better, first thing in the morning, I aim for a mile, maybe 1.25 miles, the rest is just bonus, i’m doing 2 miles a day or a hour a day, 12 miles walked so far in 5 days
Outside is better. I find running @ 10 degree temp is more challenging and very long stairs. I don’t run with gears in any weather conditions. It’s not comfortable. Do not run in 8 degree temperature without gears. It’s not so fun unless you want to test your limits.
Raghav, please do a video on weight loss plateau, I have lost over 60lb this summer but i have loose skin over my stomach. Is this a slow process or surgery is the only option?
Answer: You wanna do exercise to lose weight as any other normal person? Then they are the same.
Most ppl use walking to lose weight i love to walk cause you feel healthier happier u attract overall good health & it lowers high blood pressure & cholesterol may god bless us please send more positive feedback ppl
Running outside forces me to breathe cold air which hurts my throat, also I don’t have a good pair of trainers, on top of that, there isn’t much green outside in my country. So I’d prefer a treadmill.
so i run the same distance faster on a track than on a treadmill and get less tired. Is there a logical explanation for this?
Running on a treadmill has to be the most boring form of exercise, I’d only consider that if I’m in a hotel and I don’t know the city (or it’s dangerous to go out alone).
I run daily 3 to 4 km is that good or bad 7 days a week what do u say should I take rest for 1 to 2 days or run 7 days a week
one who only use tread mill will never be able to use his legs in real world….
cuz real world won’t suit there desired temperature, it would be bad for their posture because of uneven surface and air would be too dirty for them to breathe
I love running outdoors and think its better but where I live(Canada) I can only run outside for 6 months a a year before it gets too cold.
Point 2 is wrong. According to physics space is relative. On the road the runner applies force to move their mass forwards, whereas on a treadmill the runner applies a forward force to prevent the same amount of mass moving backwards, but these are equivalent because space is relative. On the road there is wind resistance but otherwise exactly the same amount of work is being performed. To make up for the lack of wind resistance treadmill runners set an incline, and there are bio mechanical differences in running uphill compared to running on a flat surface.
My new year’s resolution this year is to go for a minimum 2K walk every day for a whole year. So far I haven’t missed a day yet. I’ve lost between 10-15 lbs and am sleeping really well. Walking is really good. I will say my left knee is a little tight sore sometimes but arthritis runs in my family.
Finally, I have found that the walking helps me eat better too. The walking every day seems to keep me also eating right. Jogging tends to make me hungry while walking lowers stress which lowers stress eating.
Americans you re definitly gone too far theredo you realize you are asking yourselves if its better to run outside?
I personally hate the treadmill but other people seem to like it. Whatever works for you
running outdoors is better because:
1. time passes faster
2. you are likely to meet people, and if you stop running (walking) it will make a sense of weakness of yourself in their eyes, thus it makes you want to keep running
3. fresh air and oxygen (no AC)
4. fat burns more because the surface contact is harder than treadmill
5. vitamin from the sun to your skin is very beneficial
Thanks for your wisdom. A few years ago my doctor said if I weigh over 200 pounds I could get diabetes since I am the only one in my family who never got it. Now at 197 pounds I find myself walking around the park for about an hour a day. Been doing it for about 2 weeks now and even though I haven’t lost much weight, 2 to 3 pounds, but my gut seems a bit more toned. Hoping to keep it up so I can get to my ideal weight of 175 to 180 pounds. When I was young I used to be a cross country runner and ran for at least 2 times every morning after I woke up. Don’t know if I’ll be able to do that again, but at least I know walking will help me get to my goal. Thanks again for reinforcing my thoughts that walking will help me lose weight.
PS Oh as I walk I also do isometric exercises that I used to do when I was young taking martial arts. I think it helps tone me.
I prefer the treadmill since I can run at the constant speed I desire.
And what about the pollution in evening time?? If u want to run you should have proper place.
Can we have a curved treadmill, as earth surface curved (sphere)
I’ve lost over 80 pounds since January 1st, 2020. So far I have taken my BMI from 42.1 to 29.2. Walking is low impact and I have cervical stenosis so I need something that doesn’t kill my neck. It still hurts but it’s better than it was.
I started dieting 2 weeks ago eating twice a day only consuming 700calories a day, with simple exercises 15mins in morning and before bed. Completely dropped soda, candy, energy drinks. I started out at 181.2lbs now I am at 175.8lbs. Goal 150lbs by November
Thought the risk for treadmill was going to be falling and getting your face sandpapered
I think we can all admit we found this video very visually satisfying.
Yeah ima go buy a treadmill just because there has been a murder around my area and I can’t trust anyone anymore
I’m a football player in Texas (Where 100 degree heat is normal)… I usually do half my cardio outside (On the field, sleds, etc.), and the other half inside on a treadmill)
Sorry, but that’s a big bakwaas
Am of 33 years old..
I use to walk a hour per day from past 2 months but no reduction found on my body weight…. I was of 95-96 kg then and now I am of 95.5 kg…
The main thing is your diet… I can’t control my diet but still trying a lot reduce my fat..
50 push ups / day on 5 sets
7-8 hours sleep / day
3 times meal / day
5-6 mins run / day not able run half meters in single attempt
60+ mins walk per day..
Tell me something else to overcame
I definitely prefer outdoor running, I feel free and not caged up.
i walk around 7 hours a day for my work haha i am still chubby, but to be fair i do get maccies like nearly every morning and a monster before work
Yep, nice animation earns a like. And it’s true that elders never get outside
Years ago, I started walking to work 2.5 miles each way. From May thru November I went from 265 pounds down to 185 pounds. My blood pressure went from 170/100 down to 130/80 within the first 3 weeks of walking.
put your treadmills on an incline personally I do a 10 degree incline running on a treadmill, really spares you from excessive impact on your joints and I have considerably noticed large improvement in joint pain not that I am a person who is extremely overweight but running 5 miles a day really impacts your knee joints especially when you run on a hard pavement, I think treadmill is the way to go in extreme weathers and when you haven’t had the time to go outside, for example busy with working life. plus you can actually monitor your performance on a treadmill and it makes it easier for you to take bathroom breaks and rehydrate yourself. Even mo farah uses treadmill so there you go…
In this world 30 min walk esp for women is 30 min of continuous watching over your shoulder
Make outside the home safe for women so they can feely walk run or jog. We are afraid to let our daughter out to walk
a simple donut is 250cl and it takes 30 min of skipping to burn it
Outdoor runing is very good…..treadmill are the bad idea… don’t miss guide…
So your logic is “eating alone isn’t better than exercise alone….if you eat a good diet”. LMFAO. So that’s not exercise alone. Exercise alone means you eat 5000 calories of junk food every day, but you run 10 miles and lift weights. Of course eating well and exercise are best. But if you have to choose, choose diet changes over exercise. Just look at how few calories you burn doing most exercises. Just to burn off a quarter pounder, you have to run or walk for HOURS. So if your choice was eating a spinach salad instead of a quarter pounder, or eating a quarter pounder and walking 200 miles, I’m thinking most people would rather eat better.
Exercise is necessary for health. It’s great for circulation and heart health. It’s great for muscle maintenance. And you make a great point…that you don’t actually make. WALKING IS LIKELY BETTER THAN RUNNING. Yeah, I said it. Walking is easier on the joints and less stressful on your heart. There’s a reason people die running marathons.
The exercise industry has convinced us that running and lifting heavy weights is key to our healthy. When most of that crap is excessive. People can ride a bike or walk and be healthy. That can get them to an old age. And they enjoy it. Being active like mowing the lawn or walking up stairs, or fixing up your house is good enough. You don’t need to bench press or do squats (while pulling back muscles).
So you make a good point that you didn’t make. Don’t listen to the exercise industry. You don’t need to run or jog or lift weights to be healthy. Do the exercise that you find the most enjoyable.
Good video. I personally don’t like any cardio machines. Uh, I very seldom run. That said, they can have their place. I think the video explains thing well.
The way the treadmill is made, it forces you to heel-strike which apparently is not a good way to run. I’ve always landed on my midfoot for as long as I can run, and I’m not about to develop a bad running habit by using the treadmill.
Started a 30 day challenge for myself. Walking 4.5 miles daily. Takes me about 1 hour and 40 minutes. 5 days down! I have started drinking low calorie smoothies and cut out . I only eat this once a week and only 3 instead of 4 almost daily. I eat a ton of and yogurt and mainly and . I still eat. Rome wasn’t built in a day
Can’t run outside due to air pollution and stray dogs won’t stop chasing
I walk daily not to burn fat but to watch as many beautiful girls I can
I think running outside is a safety issue, especially for women. Many women have been mugged & or raped.
An important difference is that when running outside you’re both responsible for pushing your leg forward to take a step, as well as then using that step to push your body forward as your leg moves back to its starting position. Both these steps require you to burn energy from stored potential energy in your body to kinetic movement energy.
However on the treadmill you only burn energy when pushing your leg forward to take a step, then it just lands on the treadmill and follows the movement back to its starting position, so you don’t push your body forward. your foot just follows the movement.
So only the first step burns stored potential energy in your body to kinetic movement energy during the second step the kinetic energy comes for electrical potential energy from the wall outlet that makes the treadmill go.
That is if you don’t use a highend one that compensates for this.
I would destress after work walking, until I ended up with a freaking stranger stalker. Now purchasing a treadmill.
this all are foolish news.out door running need too much stamina. if you run 10 km in treadmill but you canot run 4 km in out side. treadmill use only for a warm up thats enough
but I heard fat burning doesn’t happen until after 30 mins of walking
The actual running is different on a treadmill. I kept overbalancing and had to learn it. It is not the same thing, the movement is different.
What if i don’t have motivation to walk or do any exersice
I have a injury with a year now so I prefer walking for 45 min.60. Will add few exercises once I start seeing changes without putting pressure on my injury.
I like to go to the gym because i love people and I don’t have anyone to walk with
I had come here because I’ve been running on treadmill for over a year. Usually just for 5 min warm ups with 20 min runs during the week. But after a year on a treadmill to running outside I couldn’t last 3 minutes. It was way harder
Interesting to see a clip from the film Fallen used in this video. It has been more than a decade since I saw that film, but it left a lasting impression.
Don’t do yo-yo diets..
I lost 64 pounds but still 30 to go and just not happening.
My metabolic rate is screwed.
Well i walk everyday in the week 45 minutes to my work, and 45 minutes + (with shopping) back to home. Can’t say that this helped me with losing weight.
With the amount of air pollution outside in cities it is better to do treadmill than risk lung diseases.
In order to move forward outdoors one has to propel forward. Explain how people knock out a 5 mile run on treadmill but you say let’s go run outside for 5 miles and people pass.
I normally walk♂️ to the store & gym instead of taking my car, especially if it’s only one or two miles away. Plus, I save money on gas as well.
Hi
I love to do cardio on treadmill is it ok if I am in starting stage of knee pain
Pls let me know can I continue or not on treadmill
But I don’t have any discomfort while doing the workout
i have not anytpye of park or grass outside in my area frnd so what should i have to now in this case and i also want to go that bull shit gyms plz tell me any way
I run outside with the treadmill on my back, so I got them both covered.
If I was to run, but the reason for running was to lose weight, would outdoors be better or treadmill
Going outdoor for running decrease my mood because i see some people face. I don’t like it
I’m currently running outside because of gym closures in my home town, there’s 100% a difference idk what it is but I’m struggling outdoors on ground eg: I could run on a treadmill for 5,6,7 mins with walking intervals however outside I walk 10 minutes and can only run 1:30 – 2:00 mins and feel completely gassed! I’m still trying to transition to outdoor running
I go for the trendmill anytime. As much as I love being outdoors, and I do walk a lot (thanks to Pokémon Go), there is to much polution here in France. Sometimes they even prevent you on the radio from doing sports outdoors because of that. And French people are crazy drivers, Its not at all safe to run outside of a Park.
I love running outside but the treadmill helps shock absorbtion for my knees.
raghav do u ever get depressed? u always seem happy fortunately:)
Depression? Isn’t that just a fancy word for feeling bummed out?
When you’re already motivated and willing, yes. But if the question is whether to run at all anything works! Inside or outside, treadmill or not. Just do it!
Just wanted yo clarify that one hour of walking makes you lose 70 calories, so if you walk 30 mins thats like 35 mins, believe that is shit and if you want to get thin then dont walk, make that a side thing, and it wont even help you get abs like the scammy thumbnail says, try going to a gym and do more exercises, it helps alot believe me, and you can walk while going to the gym and going back home which is a bonus
I use both, the outdoors and the treadmill. I use outdoors for low intensity cardio on days when I don’t lift and treadmill for high intensity interval training after my weight lifting sessions. In this way, the derive the benefits of both. Happy exercising!
Am I the only one that loses their mind when they hear this alarm sound 2:32. P.S that’s my alarm
Treadmills ruin my legs for almost 2 years the soft surface weakened my plantar and caused plantar fascitis and also the belt surface was too smooth which cause slippage at the surface bewteen foot and belt which caused all kinds of microtears in the muscles in my legs. I couldnt even walk for a while. I went back to running outside only on trails and asphalt and in 6 moths feel great and have 3 Pr performances.
Yeah but if you ONLY walk for 30 mins a day even if you eat right you’ll lose like maybe half a pound a week at best? So sure if you want your weight loss to be really, really, really, really, really, really, really slow sure just walk for 30 mins a day and burn that extra 100 calories that are in one single banana.
bull crap i have spent 7 yrs walking a walmart at 10k steps/4-5 miles a night and 2 more yrs of walking in a hospital im 61 yrs old and 275 lbs still fat and ugly..
I see all these comments that tell me that running on a treadmill is not even close to running outside. I have tryouts in a couple months and have to decrease my mile time. I can’t run outside so there is not a lot of free space. What should I do?
Very nice vedio sirMy question is I am having calorie deficit diet from past 2 months and doing body weight exercise, my weight has reduced by 4 KG but I don’t find difference in belly fat. Pls help
“in 2019, this list helped me decide for the best treadmill scafe.shop/tbthu2019?sv hope it helps you out too!”
Living in Northern Minnesota I cant run when it’s -30… I could but…
Outside is better, you don’t feel as tired as in the treadmill cause you can see dogs, cats and others
running shoud only be done for conditioning. walking is better for weightloss because you’re feet can recover overnight and be ready the next day to do it again. running will get you blisters and has a longer recovery time.
I mean I would run outside but I live in a really shady town with loose dogs everywhere and a grave site not even half a mile away from my house so I’m not even going to risk it
Being outdoors is great as long as you don’t have some random crackhead going from person to person trying to make friends.
I have my treadmill in a room with floor to ceiling windows and I must say it is often too sunny… I like the treadmill because I get to focus and for me it is a creative time, often I get good ideas and inspiration. when im outside I have to Pay attention to everything happening around me in order to stay safe. I have asthma and when the weather is cold or too humid it acts as a trigger. I think it is all very personal, and as long as you keep a healthy plan that suits you and achievable, you are good!
I run 9 miles on the treadmill in an hour. I run 9 miles outside in 1 hour and 9 minutes. I also burn more calories running outside and resistance is tougher
i ran 6 months on a treadmill but didnt lose belly fat but when i started running outdoor on a road i lost belly fat quite remarkably in a month because u feel the gravity, ground and air resistance much more, highly recommended to run outdoor based on my personal experience. secondly run early in the morning as it burns fat instead of energy in evening.
yeah but you can easily step on a rock and twist ur ankle. the roads where i live are horrible. not much scenary either where ever you go.
So speaking of exercising outside. I want all of you to help me out here. I’ve been workout at Gym recently, but for me to get conditioned in hiking or hunting in photographer’s method. So, I figured out I wish to use my exercise outside more often. However, I found myself in limitations living in the Hell’s Kitchen district in NYC. I am also a early bird of a person and if I can, I would like to use my exercise every morning. there is hudson river right next to me but its difficult to find spots and areas on where I can run and do my strength training. I also don’t have a adaptability to use outside spaces here in the NYC. I wish to use my outdoor exercise more often but its embarrassing considering I am not used to doing outdoor activities myself. If anyone has a suggestions please let me know.
But I’ve realised when I you run outside I can go for much longer than on the treadmill. I think because the treadmill set the constant pace which means that I have to push myself harder to maintain pace.
Human body evolved running outdoors for millenniums… treadmill was made in past centuries for punishing English prisoners
Did he just say “build the same number of fast twitch fibers” immediately ignoring anything else he has to say!
very poor conclusion the best solution is to use BOTH, there is no reason to only run outside or only on treadmill, by alternating that is how u get the best of both world, what is not mention here is to increase ur Vo2 Max and increase ur speed incrementally, treadmill is the only accurate way to go, so for an athlete who is trying to improve his/her performance, both are indispensable
With my tight schedule running on the treadmill i was able to workout whatever time i wanted no matter how late or early. I lost a lot of unwanted weight. My treadmill is at my window so i get sun, moon, wind, bugs, everything. Thats what works for me.
Why is this even a video? A little common sense tells you running outside in the environment over hills and valleys is a lot healthier and more fun than a sterile ass treadmill.
All in all though an informative an entertaining video regardless of why people wonder such things.
outdoor running is better as i don’t think I can afford a treadmill:/
What about building up stamina? Does it differ between treadmill and outdoor running?
on a tread mill all you have to do is hop and the ground moves beneath you
Yeah! It can motivate you and you may see hot males or females as well!!
But a lot of people in my neighborhood just look at me and keep STARRING! it slowly makes me uncomfortable to run outside..and the anxiety
I’m JuSt TrYinG tO GeT tHaT SuMmER BoD!
Running outside you get to see female bouncy parts. (. Y. )
I walked 5 miles a day and watched my diet for 1 year. I went from 280 to 170. 44 inch waist to a 32. Holy hell I feel great
https://www.nirogdarpan.in/eye-problem/mobile-radiation-eye-problems/
Imo treadmill running is boring af and much harder compared to outdoor running.
After some surgery, treadmill is good because they are predictable. For healthy person outside is good, no doubt
treadmills have cushing the helps absorb the weight of the stroke
This doesn’t talk about the how running outside improves balancing muscles on the legs. Running outside also helps to run more smoothly since we aren’t smashing our legs on the ground unlike the treadmill.
Also, don’t forget, if you are preparing for a race treadmill running won’t prepare you for actual running and you will lose.
The chords in the music are copied from Michael jacksons Billie jean
I only advice after trying this is to start doing it and dont lool for crazy results in 2 or 3 months, make it your life style and forget about the scale, you will lose weight eventually but give it time.
You already spent years eating wrong and add weight so it is fair to have a year or 2 to lose all of this, at the end the main benefit is that you will not get this weight back and you will enjoy eating everything in moderation with no guilt.
I also advice to follow IF, it is a life saving for your health
Advantages to running outdoorsmore fun, change of scenery, fresh air
Advantages of running indoorsclimate controlled year round, convenient, less strain, videos, run when you like day or night, interval and hill training are easy, no rain or heat issues.
Use both to your advantage. I do both and love both.
bro I was deadlifting the other day….its been like 2 weeks since I have lower back pain….any solution?
These videos are so misleading….walking to fucking Five Guys to stuff your face is going to undo all of this.
I don’t understand why people cry that they can’t run outside when it’s winter, in my opinion until -10 to -15 degrees it’s acceptable. Just get some proper running clothes everybody! Like 2 shirts, a t-shirt and a wind jacket is enough in -15 in snow.
But dogs were lurking around in my neighborhood. Before I even know it, a dog is after me getting ready to bite me.
Nothing beats running outside. It calms the body, mind and soul. Its the wonder drug that is truly 100% natural. The human body is an amazing thing!
Just fuck off scammer youtuber
I have running 4 km a day
And cross-fit exercise4 times a week for over one yr * intermediate fasting 16-8
For 1 week per month + eat healthy Not sweet at all but never got sex packs yet..
Add more that once a minth walk 18 km for 3 hrs apx
30 mins walk is just bull shit
I feel like running outside works out your heart and lunges more then a treadmill.
That’s why i love calisthenics… You can build muscles at the park and without weights! Booya
I am overweight by just a few pounds because of quarantine no doubt! I always injure myself running and when the sun is down its still super hot here so I’ve decided to walk 30 minutes a day plus do chloe ting workouts. Hope this works!
Too Hot outside? Grab Heat Running gear (hat, electrolytes, water, & parasol).
Run Walk Hydrate Repeat.
Let’s do this. Runnn!
I’m going from like 3k steps per day to 10k steps and my legs and lower back want to give out I think I’m doing something wrong
Me living in Seattle with all this rain, a treadmill is a must for me.
I perfer treadmills because when you go outside there are some creepos that are gonna stare at you.
I used to love running outdoors, but I get easily sun burnt and I have a tight schedule now
“in 2019, this list helped me decide for the best treadmill scafe.shop/tbthu2019?gK hope it helps you out too!”
I would have thought they’d talk about the disparity between merely moving one’s legs, versus actually propelling themselves. I recall being in the military, running five milers on the treadmill in 35 minutes, over and over again, only to get out and do the PRT where a nine minute per mile pace was kicking my ass.
Great Video. A+++++ Today I am buying a treadmill. Allow me to tell you why. I find the air outside quite toxic in many places which means I have to drive further to get the benefits of outside. Outside can also be quite dangerous. Many of the issues raised regarding repetitive strain and over use can easily be off set with mixing up the running stride, pace, form, direction and so on; especially hydration and diet with joints in mind. Treadmill Stretching Exercises can also off set RSI combined with outdoor walking. A good qualtiy treadmill from my decades of experience can be more forgiving on joints via a good suspension + the assist via the motion of running belt can be used to great affect during times or recovery, injury or just those times you feel low but still want to boost. Owning a home treadmill offers the ability for personal placement options that can off set the issue of no fresh air and sunshine. I often find tweaking my environment with a window, fan and air con much healthier that allows me to go further for those longer meditative runs where I am also feeling much less stressed in my own world; a much safer and less hectic one. Walking later on outside is always an option to get that much needed sun. I know for me when I am just walking outside, my body is more open to making the most out of those rays. Let’s also not forget the extreme temps that can making running outdoors less favorable and even in some cases dangerous.
The ease of use, convenience and physical assistance re a treadmill after having let one self go for lack of activity and or fear of outdoors, makes the treadmill a Godsend for many. I really can’t say enough about how a treadmill for many can be way more beneficial.
I am prone to many of the negatives of outside running such as higher impact, high temps, air pollution, too much noise, hustle and bustle {makes it dangerous] social anxiety, more ware and tear on expensive shoes, having to care about what I am wearing. Road rage is on the up and up (victim myself most recently) so to is sidewalk anxiety/rage on the up and up. Additionally, the treadmill is also invariably most effective for those of us that suffer with bouts of mental instability. This results in less medications and for me when doing well; I then take none.
I am not meaning to say that either running off or on a treadmill is better than the other. I just wish to highlight how both have their pros and cons. Each have their place.
So it is that I am respectfully inclined to suggest that a treadmill is in many ways safer, smarter and more effective for a wide variety of individuals based on varying degrees and circumstances. With a home treadmill I am more able to negate the rigors of outdoors where having the proper knowledge of how to set up and use a treadmill gives me the strength to make the most of outdoors where I can at times enjoy the benefits of both. Once more though… for me, a treadmill wins out every time re my general state of health. both physically and mentally.
Today I go bank some money and buy myself a new treadmill. I have been without one for too way long:D
I prefer running outside, as people eventually always catch me with their wallet on a treadmill.
Treadmill are so dangerous. I prefare jumping rope cardio kickboxing and spinning bike.
That’s the one thing I hate about treadmills. I like to use longer paces and kind of bounce off my toes and I can’t really do that on a damn treadmill but it’s helping get me back into running so I ain’t hating
“the belt moves whereas outside you have to propel forward”
Thats a very common misconception. However, biomechanically its exactly the same if youre running forward with a certain speed and the ground doesnt move. Or if the ground moves with that same speed in the opposite direction and you try to counter that movement and stay in the same spot: You are moving at the same RELATIVE speed.
In physics, this is called “reference system” and plays a role in a lot of movements of objects and ovservers in different reference systems. Thats why in studies, there was exactly the same muscle force and energy demand if the calculated wind resistance was equated on the treadmill (usually by around 1° incline but ofc you could also use a huge fan:) )
Two hints to put you on the right…track (pun very intended):
If the belt helped us propelling forward or “does the work for us” then surely it would make no difference which speed you dial in at the treadmill. It may even be easier for us the faster the belt moves, wouldnt it? Well, try that.
Another practical test: Take an elastic ball. Let it fall on the belt. What will happen? If the belt did the work for us and we simply needed to “lift our legs” or bounce, then the ball should also simply bounce a couple of times on the same spot. What happens in reality? Find out!
Treadmill is lower impact and safer for sure, but it’s not as difficult. Running for everyday exercise, I choose treadmill but it’s cool to do some outdoor runs too
I’ve gained a lot of weight from this virus and been really lazy. Time to start walking every single day.
But I want to run in my underwear, treadmill it is (I have a treadmill in my house)
Outdoor running + Spotify’s Running playlist = You will never be bored.
after running on the mill for an hour, i feel a lose of balance after i get down from the mill. Why? does this show running on mill is unhealthy for my nerve system.
My legs became super skinny after 30 min walk a day for 3 months.. Someone reply please
I live in northern Indiana and it gets like 40 below zero sometimes around January or February so I have no choice.
The bbc reporter format haven’t changed for decades. It’s so bad. Great example of it in this video
Running on a treadmill kills your ass.
I just realized for every mile I’ve run outside, I’ve probably run eight on a treadmill. If the incline on a treadmill is anything less than 10, there’s hardly any glute activation because it’s the belt that moves. In actual running, you move forward.
If all your muscles are equally strong, then it’s natural to use the glutes when you run outside. But once you get used to a treadmill, even when you run outside your body relies more on quads because the muscles are stronger. Treadmill running uses mainly quads.
Over time this creates a big imbalance. Furthermore, when you don’t use the glutes your speed is affected.
I’ve ran a full marathon before all out door training for that. But now I’m concentrating on 5 K and have to admit I prefer the treadmill because once you’ve set your speed it takes real mind power to keep to the desired speed and this is building your fitness and speed you really have to fight the urge not to slow down where as on a road run you can slow down and don’t have to worry about getting thrown off in the gym I slow down I go through the wall. I put treadmill on 1/2 a degree incline to compensate for wind resistance being a tall guy I have to fight the wind more than the shorter guys. I’m also 102 kg my goal is to be one of a few or possibly the first one to be over 100 kg and go sub 15
Just get to the point, it feels like all those sales pitch videos You could have said all thhis in 3 min with far less graphics.
If you’re using a treadmill you should put a large fan in front of it to simulate the natural cooling that you get outside.
Free radicals are toxic byproducts of oxygen metabolism that can cause significant damage to living cells and tissues in a process called “oxidative stress.” The vitamins and minerals the body uses to counteract oxidative stress are called antioxidants.. if he has foods are rich in antioxidants it stops two cells from splitting bumping into each other and destroying each other that’s encouraging aging, safety stick to foods that are rich in antioxidants like blueberries, the more balanced your diet is with such vitamins and minerals your body will perform better and you’ll live a long life.
Air pollution has gotten so bad in our major cities that there is no way I outdoor running is healthier.
Hi! If your going to try this make sure to drink lots of water!! You’ll get faster results
of course i love treadmill. i can watch movie and running in the same time.
PR’s set on a treadmill don’t count in my opinion. I know people that’s post ridiculous times during the winter to strava then can’t come anywhere close to it outdoors
I started running after the lockdown I love outdoor running now I do my 12km every second day in 55mins and I burn 1,635 calories and its for free I’m enjoying it than being in the gym I’m always checking things on the phone and get bored easily no more gym
Is treadmill harder because of the cushioning? I’m thinking that extra asorbtion built in to the treadmill makes you less prone for injuries but also takes slightly more energy from you because each strike your foot sinks a little where as road running it won’t
I live in Tahoe and during winter we get 10+ feet of snow. I like to put on VR head set with a scenec video and enjoy my run lol.
In conclusion dont run outside or youll die from air pollution
Oh ya running causes more injury because people try to run down a cliff. Right
They made a huge error. I can get into the science behind it but in short running isn’t that bad for your joints. Running is certainly better for your joints than walking.
If my local track is available to me i use it whenever i can. But my experience with the treadmill has only been positive and the easier workout on the treadmill can give your legs a break from the outdoors. But it is necessary to run outdoors to toughen yourself and body to the rigors of the asphalt if and only you intend to run a marathon.
They are pretty much just as good it mostly just depends on who you are, I personally prefer treadmill tho, since when you are done you can literally just walk off it and go directly to the bed or bathroom plus if you own one it’s literally 2 steps away and in your home too. But that’s mostly just my preferance due to my personality other people may prefer outside and that’s really good too. Botomline it doesn’t matter as long as you actually run/jog so stop arguing please.
I have the darndest time switching to a treadmill… it seems way harder on a mill to run my outdoor pace… and when I slow the thing down a lil I find myself running into the control panel…. I just have a hard time transitioning…
The day before yesterday I ran on a treadmill 10km in 44min(without inclination) and yesterday I did 10km in 48min outdoor( facing many hills).. today it’s my day off.. so I can conclude that going outside I felt much more tired in the following day than on the treadmill..although I went much faster than running at the park.
I walk to school every day and tjis shit never happened, fake
Im really do running outdoor every single day, it does n’t matter if is raining or Snow I’m still running!!
Biggest advantage isn’t discussed here.
Body reflex’s gets better while running outdoor.
Im gonna walk for 6 months at a pretty high speed. Im gonna be here every month
I would rather walk outdoors but much of the time it is cold or raining. I do not have a nice place to walk but must deal with highway, cars and danger. A treadmill will work.
When I tried to replicate my gyms 8km in 1 hour run on concrete, I ended up doing it in bout 45min. It’s true; we push harder outdoors. (I’ve been running concrete 6 months now against 4 years at gym)
So…. if I put the treadmill outside which am I doing indoors or outdoors lol
i refuse to believe that you burn more energy outside due to air resistance, it’s most likely due to your inertia, your center of mass doesnt really move on a treadmill, it does outside
Bro wtf does this have to do with gta I searched up gta 5 online and this shit popped up tf
It’s way too dangerous to run outside. There are humans out there.
I think the main reason to run on a treadmill is to be able to exercise in poor weather. Outdoor running will always be superior, but treadmill running is better than nothing at all.
Excellent video! I wan to buy a treadmill because where I live (Seattle), it rains too much for me to keep a steady outdoor running schedule.
I started walking 4 weeks ago for 30 minutes every day with a speed and incline increase each week. The first 2 weeks I lost 9lbs but after 4 weeks I had only lost about 15lbs. The results are there but diminishing. I have PLENTY of belly fat to get rid of so the decrease in weight loss over the second 2 week period was very frustrating. I’m not giving up though because I know it works because I have done it before!
Treadmill is good to free you up for outside running. It will actually make running outside fun and easier.
The girl in white yoga pants at my gym elevates my mood and improves my focus
I’ve heard the best benefit is walking helps reduce inflammation in the circulatory system
Well where I live is 6 months of the year 50 degrees outside and 90% humidity so actually treadmill is my best friend
the heat or cold makes your body work vs. an air conditioned room with dead air.
Treadmills aren’t bad. You can just adjust the speed of them occasionally so you can vary your movement
Tried running outdoors for the first time… Caught a raised edge of the pavement slab and stacked it in the city.
Keeping to the treadmill.
just looking at these people running made me lose some gains
outdoors is better for the simple reason that you do all the work by yourself, the treadmill pulls your legs backward and thus you put almost no effort in it, while on the outside you have to pull your legs backward to propel yourself forward which works your back and quadriceps
I was always under the impression that treadmill running promoted less wear and tear dur to treadmills being padded? I’d think it’s safer for ligaments and joints to run on a padded treadmill than outside on an uneven terrain? Can someone with knowledge confirm?
What if you run 1 hour indoors 9 miles and the same outdoors. 1 hour 9 miles. Which one would burn more calories?
I started running outside and have seen better results. When I run on a treadmill, my legs hurt really bad and have a hard time getting any distance. Ran outside for the first time in a long time and ran 1 and a half kilometers without stopping.
My dad used to run 10km every morning. Then he sprained his ankle. Hasn’t run outdoors since.
Nothing happens my mother has been doing it for about 20 years. She has gained weight.
Am I the only one who finds running outside boring and on a treadmill fun?
sprint with 100% effort for 10 seconds. Do that for 10 sets a few times a week.
Running on Outside
no expensive equipment required
additional sights
can i get some constructive criticism please..I walk everyday for about 10 miles (rain or shine)…
to the liquor shop then KFC and I STILL cant lose weight…where might I be going wrong?
Treadmill is better because you get to breathe the sweat of 50 other people while you do it.
Outdoors for many people is hard pavement, city air and no nature and noise.
Not everyone got the luxury of nice cinematic outdoor tracks in nature.
And to beat the wear issue go for HIIT short, high intensity runs instead of long repetitive and slow.
what do you mean i walk for 1 hour a day 3,500 calories burned more than 30 min
Got my first sub 14 two mile time outside from running on a treadmill. Treadmills can help you mentally and physically run a certain pace, because you get used to restrictions a treadmill can create.
Walking 10 hour /day
36000meter. No any reasult with low carb low calories diet. I guess is ment to be a joke, after a point walks not have effect on your fat lose

Running in air max 95s. 1. What a waste, 2. Bad for your knees
Fucking air pollution is considered one of the risks for running outside? Really?
Treadmill for pussies. Run outside. If really bad weather take a break or do mobility work inside. Strength work. Flexibility work. Jump rope. Be sure eat right and rest.
So will walking for 30 minutes a day along with my very healthy diet(no processed foods, ex. Chips, soda, etc.) Help me get down to 10% 13% body fat? I’m currently 5’8.6 and 115 lbs.
I say 50/50 on running indoors and outdoors! Can’t get rid of one altogether.
Please somebody help me! I want to loss weight which’ will the more effective -running outside on roads, running in grounds or treadmill!? Please tell me
Start of quarantine I was 2, now I’m 4, progress(30-45 min run every day along my pier along with drinking 3 litres of water a day)
Thank you so much for this video. I was getting pretty unmotivated about my exercises until I watched it.
Accident can happen anywhere
If Air is polluted outside then inside too.
walking doesn’t really do much to the average person, maybe to somebody that’s obese it would have some type of benefit factor.
Any form of exercise is great and will help you lose weight provided you are in a calorie deficit. Just keep moving and watch your eating and you will be golden it just takes time and consistency.
I run on a Treadmill because running outside get‘s you weird looks and makes you feel uncomfortable, on a treadmill I can decide how fast I run, I can always stop at any time and drink or leave or eat, this chnnale is such bullshit
I walked 3 km everyday for a year and lost the route to my home, please help
Why not draw patterns and either try stepping on them or avoiding them.
Running outside raises the percentage of accidentally swallowing a bug
I’m a postman, I walk 3 to 4 hours a day with about 2000 stairs to climb, 5 days a week, as well as cycling to and from work, around 6 miles and yet i’m putting on weight and my waistline has gone from 35″ to 37″. I also eat a well balanced diet, what am I doing wrong?
I’m 24 years old. I have been walking on a regular basis for 45 minutes since last month. When I started, my waistline was 28 inches. Now my waistline is 26.7 inches. I eat everything but I eat less. I try to eat not more than 1500 calories each day. I also incorporate a 10 minutes ab workout. Walking every day really helps.
You don’t gain anything on treadmill. You loose 1) fat 2) energy 3) strength gain but gain nothing. If you’re an outdoor running you loose the same, but gain 1) leg strength 2) leg propulsion strength 3) stamina 4) higher energy reservoir
If I run on a treadmill it makes me noticed to keep going and not slowing down
Running outside I get too distracted
hi1st of all let me tell you that it was a very informative video. yes i do have a question. i started gyming in dec 2014. since then i was very regular, but since past 2-3 months i was not regular. i was 60 kgs in dec 2014 n i have reached 52 kgs and i feel that i have quiete reached my goal. but i want to reach 48 kgs now bcoz whatever i do my belly fat doesn’t go. also let me tell you that i maintaib my diet very regularly n cheat only on weekends sometimes. Can you please tell me that even though i have reached my ideal weight i have not been able to loose fat My height is 5ft 2 inches. the instructors say that tjis is my ideal weight. i dont look over fat as before now,but i m still unhappy with the way my tummy looks and my upper body looks bulky whereas the lowerbody looks very lean.
in my experience, walking 4 kilometers outside is equivalent to the 10kms on treadmill.. I didn’t like treadmills from the day I started using it… also one does not needs fitbits to track the distance. google fit app is capable enough.. so walking outside in fresh air is far revitalising than running o treadmill in the stale recycled air by air conditioners..
I always wanted to know…., dengue is outdoor all over Delhi…traffic & potholes..and what not, treadmill is safer in India
I’m walking 5 miles everyday dumbbell workouts at night eating every other day quit the junk pizza hamburgers and cokes get rid of them just don’t eat stupid you know what I’m talking about the weight will come off I’ve lost 25 pounds to date keep fighting the good fight as they say
Lol idgaf I’m just gonna work out everyone makes everything so fucking difficult. JUST DO IT.
Now u r. Comparing between running just run it will only make u healthier
where’s the proof? Are you going to spout nonsense and not even link any sources?
The biggest factor for making running outside more difficult hence more beneficial is the WIND!!! A 10 or 20 mile an hour wind blowing against you will make the run twice as difficult!! I l know!! I’ve been running for 38 years!
Treadmill in winter cuz i can’t run in snow and 0 degree weather affects my lungs and getting sick is not much of a health benefit if you run outdoors in winter.
I could run on a treadmill forever, but I get tired first 20 mins bruh.
I’m blessed with living 5 minutes of walking from a forest:)
Outdoor running is great, simple with minimum requirement, flexible.
Sharing one of my outdoor experience in the video: @xmJ4
On a treadmill you have no momentum, so you lean backwards compared to normal running.
And that’s no good for your feet.
I used to run on treadmill and for some reason it didn’t feel the same compared to running outdoors. I love running outside it’s awesome.
In Indonesia, people smoke in great outdoor. So NOPE, running outdoor in Indonesia is even more hazardous than one would think otherwise. And not to mentiom various air pollutants from burning the waste and such
Inside: Less Pollution, No mosquitoes, No cars to hit me, No muggers, No skin Cancer, Outside No Youtube to watch while I jog which is full of those colors you spoke of etc…etc… Gotta find an hour video to jog to which keeps my mind almost completely off the agony in parts of my run. Have a nice day!
Outdoor on a treadmill >outdoor walking>indoor walking >indoor treadmill.
It’s all about the level of matsya prana in the air around you,Peak levels at 4:22– 4:30 (called brahmamahurat).
I walk about two hours every night. On New Years day I was really overweight, 480lbs to be exact. It is now the middle of July and I am 323lbs. I have also made some major changes to my diet but as far as exercise, I am only walking so far. Walking works. Im losing about twenty five lbs a month.
Complete bullshit video. All opinions. Btw I can jog 6 “miles” on treadmill. I guess it does most of the work for you. But on the track I cant last an entire lap.
I ate whatever I wanted and walked everyday 2 hrs and I was in the best shape ever! Then I suffered an accident in pain everywhere and everyday now I’m fat! Second day at walking will keep it up. Want to get rid of 80 lbs
Nah man at it keeps me on the limit of lard and regulart guy, I work in a hotel hsk supervisor i practically walk all day around 7 hours, maybe i need running
one of my next door neighborhood got her face slashed, when she was jogging. she had stitches and looked like the joker for abit. so I’m good staying in a locked house away from crazy people.
So the key here is to run at home so you can be ready to run better outside. Do both. Balance y key
Rubbish! The single fact that outdoor runners have significantly higher injuries justifies treadmill running. This video is not apples to apples comparison. If you want run outside run on a track to minimums injuries especially for age 40 & above crowd. Taking age into consideration treadmill far outweighs outdoor running. Pay attention to varying speed & incline to avoid repetitive injury on treadmill. Good luck!
3 weeks ago i was worried about my belly fat, then i start running in the morning and reduced my belly fat by 2 inches.
Personally, I use to enjoy running on a treadmill as oppose to the footpath/park as you have the convenience of doing it at anytime, and you can track your progress much better, without the need to purchase other products like a watch/heart rate monitor. I know the argument could be made for running outside that you wouldn’t buy a treadmill but that’s just me. What I found more useful, and least stressful on your knees and ankles is bike riding, outside or indoors. It takes the weight off of your legs and helps release the stress caused by the forces you place on them. It is also very useful for people who are overweight as again, it would alleviate injury during their weight loss journey. Let me know what you guys think!
I hate the outdoors. Hot, bugs, other people. And for a blond Irishman who can’t tan, the sun is evil. I prefer my treadmill. I have air conditioning and I can watch tv while I run. Plus I get shin splints too easily on pavement. Treadmill is much easier on the legs.
I have been walking average 7 k.m at pace 5.5 km/hr from 21 march and skip my lunch. I lost 13 k.g. If i can than anybody can. So start from today, after 15 days u will be addicted.
My city is too dangerous to run around like that. Even for an adult.
to be honest i hate running i just go outside and ride my bike i mean it is a way faster mean of transportation and you still gotta move those legs to get going and i enjoy it so much.
more injuries falling and especially if running next to cars, not a good idea, know people that have been killed and broken ankles from running outside. Thanks I’ll pass and stick to the treadmill for running and just walk when I’m outdoors
30 min walking is nothing. It lol not do much changes. Am walking 4 hours a day since 4 years
I totally disagree with most of the factors in this video. It is much harder to balance on a treadmill especially when you’re moving your head around. In terms of repetition of the same movement every step you take on a treadmill is affected by your balance and how you feel, it is very hard and better training to actually manage to repeat any foot position or cadence. Also the perception of speed is exactly the same when you get used to running on a treadmill. If you have prior knowledge of your regular speed before trying the treadmill and then you aim to run at the same speed as you normally do it feels exactly the same.
At full speed full effort in a hotter environment I can just about match my straight line flat speed outdoors. The difficulty of not running into air is a disadvantage similar to wind resistant which often pays you back anyway if you run a circuit.
I can improve my PB times in a matter of weeks if I work hard on a treadmill because it is more controlled and has less factors to alter perception.
Walking outside it not only better for you physically but it’s better for you mentally as the fresh air is good for your soul and also gives you a new perspective on life. When we as humans are surrounded by nature it gives our bodies a new glow.
