Anyone have any "go to" comebacks for this situation?
Working in EM at the moment and often have to refer to specific specialities… We have set outlines for what we have to do and when we have to do it (e.g. repeat blood tests).
Long and short I'm a 30 year old doctor and got a "talking to" this evening for repeating a blood test (my best judgement said it didn't need repeating but protocol says so, and if anything goes wrong and I deviate from protocol, it's my arse on the line).
My question is, has anyone had any success with a reply along the lines of "I'm an adult, if this is teaching then I'm more than willing to listen, if it's a bollocking then I'm not interested."
(I couldn't see this going down well with older members of staff who are the same grade, is it just some bullshit seniority crap?)
Or am I just being touchy
