Sometimes just removing gluten is not a cure all as a leaky gut and low vitamin levels is a huge possibility as we are all deficient in magnesium, selenium, iodine. Vit D in the UK is another one! Many may feel not all symptoms go away and fatigue, allergies like hayfever and arthritis pain is due to a leaky gut so L -Glutamine for 2 months will heal a leaky gut and bone broth too! Dr Sircus has great info on why we need to take magnesium, selenium and iodine and even bicarbonate of soda.
Nearly 4 years of living gluten free, changed my life forever. I have been bothered lately by products containing glucose, glucose is made from wheat and barley. That crap will kill you. Beware, I’m not sure when sugar was replaced with glucose-fructose in pop but they did that. Why???

I started the ketogenic diet 1.5 years ago, which means no wheat or any other grains. I have no more back or knee pain (after years of chronic pain, and thousands of $ spent on chiropractic care). I’m allergic to wheat but not gluten, the allergy doc said it was a different protein in the wheat that i was allergic to. So if someone was questioning whether they were allergic to wheat or gluten or something else in their food maybe they could try another grain that has gluten but not wheat like rye or barley…..there are also crazy combination foods like apples and eggs, where if apples and eggs are eaten in the same meal they cause a reaction for some people but they have no reaction if they eat an apple in the morning and an egg for dinner…some other common combos are milk and mint or cane sugar and oranges or corn and banana or beef with yeast or pork with black pepper….but these are just common ones everyone is an individual and might have different cross reactions with ANY foods.(I could even imagine a combination of 3 or more foods might exist but I’ve not come across this information but it wouldn’t surprise me the least if this was happening where someone had to eat cheese with tomatoes with wheat to get symptoms but could eat each food separately or just 2 of them and have no reaction)
there are also foods that might make pollen/animal/other allergies worse if you are exposed to the allergen plus eat the food but if the allergen is absent you could eat the food with no reaction. so if i’m allergic to cats and i’m going to be around a cat then i should pay attention to see if eating pork worsens my cat allergy symptoms or gives me more/other symptoms but if i’m not around a cat then pork wouldn’t cause any allergy symptoms…The most common cross reactions(which for some people can last for up to 6 weeks after the season ends)= for grass pollen allergy there’s a lot of cross reactions with grains. For dust allergy or cockroach allergy it’s seafood/shellfish, for a latex allergy you might want to pay attention to avocado/banana/peach/chestnuts and for the trees there are so many things mostly fruits but cedar/juniper pollen allergy it’s beef/yeast and for cottonwood it’s lettuce. For elm tree pollen allergy it’s milk and mint. Oak tree is egg/apple. Several foods like potato/tomato/chamomile tea/milk/egg/coriander/and more can cross with weed pollen allergies. There’s lots of foods if you’re allergic to molds that might cross such as peanuts/aged or hard cheese/popcorn/melons/ malts(maltodextrin in cereals or malted drinks)/fermented foods and drinks(especially beer & wine but all alcohol too) / mushrooms/vinegar/coffee/dried fruit/grapes…. my suggestion is get tested/research lots/try to either keep a food diary and/or really pay attention to which pollens are high(a good website sends you emails with top 3 worst tree/grass/weed pollens plus molds for your area(if it’s being measured or closest location that is measuring) is https://www.aaaai.org/global/nab-pollen-counts?ipb=1 ) and if you happen to eat a big bowl of rice in the middle of summer when grass pollen is high and later that night you have a major allergy attack then record the data and maybe try avoiding that food for a week and try it again on a high grass pollen day and see if the reaction happens again then also try rice in the middle of winter when there’s no grass pollen(this might also cause people to think they have a gluten or wheat allergy). Also allergies can change over one’s lifetime so maybe you’ve always been able to eat mushrooms but one day you notice they make your nose runny, you can develop new/more allergies and become less allergic to something you’ve always been sensitive to! Allergies can be a very tricky thing good luck everyone I hope this info helps because I know they are NO fun <3

At 76, I lost 20 pounds in 2 months and am aiming for lots more. But I was wondering if your plan could have a impact on periodontal disease which is causing me to have 6 mm pockets in some of my rear teeth. I had surgery on them 25 years ago, and don’t look forward too a replay.

I notice right off that this man has a double chin and a sweaty pale complexion. I’m trying to keep an open mind but I can not find a talk he gives where he has anyone to debate his claims. All the claims within the comments of better digestion, BP, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight loss I have obtained eating plant based with huge amounts of wheat and grains of all kinds including white bread, white rice and pasta. The Doctors promoting plant based eating do not agree on every detail but they show up in forums and site study and evidence. Doctor Mcdoogle, Joel Fuhrman, and many others are lean and fit. I would like to see this guy sell his theory with his shirt off. LOL
UNTIL I have listened to this man, I have struggled with this addiction… and TIS TIME now.. after having a mild stroke due to my RA, autoimmune disease.. thankfully I was able to have carotid surgery and saved my life..tis time to GET SERIOUS..this is deadly.. FYI, for anyone concerned with the inflammatory effect of grain products you may be interested to know that our immunizations have two forms of aluminum and mercury in the form of thimerosal as adjuvants. Each of these substances are neurotoxins. Pharmaceutical companies stirred these substancesq into the broth to cause an inflammatory response at the time of immunization. The purpose of creating an inflammatory response is their belief that it provides a greater immunity from the viral fragments in the immunization. The amount of virus present in each immunization can differ a great deal. The basis or result of auto immune disorders is inflammation. My daughter had respiratory distress after her first flu shot then spent the day in the emergency department receiving IV steroids, Benadryl, IV epinephrine and inhalation therapy. She now has asthma. She also has MTHFR gene defect & cannot metabolize folate and other B vitamins. Synthetic B vitamins are in every enriched grain product.

I eat whole wheat all the time, at least daily and I’m 73. I’m on a whole food plant-based diet and I look a helluva lot better than this pudgy doctor does. I think he’s promoting BS to make money without any real evidence or even good reasoning.
Right around the 5 minute mark he mentions EINKORN, an ancient wheat. Coincidentally, I recently came across a company named Jovial Foods that has reintroduced that wheat in their products. I am not interested in trying it since I have been on a Keto diet and OMAD for a few years.
I may try a carnivore diet soon and see how I feel on that. We have gotten so far away from our ancestral diets that it’s no wonder so many are fat and sick. BTW, this doctor doesn’t look all that healthy to me. But just my opinion. Interesting presentation nonetheless.

Anecdotes don’t make science or medicine!!! I had shoulder pain same as anybody else and it went away without medicine only with time!! I cut out nothing in my diet, lost no wt and even gained some wt, and I never whined and never read others’ stories!!! Just plain old resting the inflamed joint and allowing it to heal naturally.

I realize something I take a legal herb that connects with the opium receptors for anxiety. I couldn’t figure out why somedays it didn’t work.. Wonderful presentation, only note that Dr. Davis did this presentation in 2012. It is now established by many medical journals and doctors that gluten (a sticky protein) can bypass your gut and and present you with leaky gut that causes havoc. Yes, do enjoy your garden. Watch out for nightshades though. Peel and deseed your tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squashes and avoid potatoes. You can pressure pot your tomatoes to use in salsas. I peel my tomatoes by boiling water and adding raw tomatoes for about 30 seconds then adding to a wonderful dark green salad. Soak beans and other legumes. Change water about three times then pressure pot them. Most lectins are destroyed this way. If interested check out Dr. Gundry’s books.

Let me tell you something people. I stopped eating all refined wheat products (white flour) and white foods ( rice) for one week and I lost 12 lbs. It is very addicting and inflammatory. It is in cereal, cookies, zucchini breads, fig newtons, croutons, bread crumbs, doughnuts, scones, pies, cakes, muffins, sandwiches, etc. You get the picture? It is in almost everything!!! Combine that with what they do to fatten up animals for slaughter, is it any wonder why so many people are fat?

I want to make gluten free bread but don’t like nut flour as find it drying, is millet flour safe to eat or not? a bit scared to try this stuff after healing a leaky gut and candida. I love this doctor, so great to find some good ones out there!
Chronic candida was also present in everyone tested for schizophrenia too. I had this fungus caused by antibiotics, too much sugar and stress. Coming from a farmer family we have been growing wheat for hundred of years and also been eating too all our lives. We don’t have any allergies, cancer, or any other health issues at all..We are not fat! maybe we don’t use any chemical spray on our food but then I visit America. I learned most of food in America is so bad and unhealthy. And also first time I ever heard “Gluten Free” food. So problem is not a wheat but chemicals you spray and genetic food.
I wonder if these people that say we spray glyphosate all over the wheat realized what they are saying. I live right smack in the middle of kansas and farm wheat. Wheat is all around my house and have grown it since i could drive a tractor.. But ive NEVER seen anyone spray glyphosate on their wheat. Glyphosate kills EVERYTHING except genetically modified beans corn and a few other crops. So whyyyyy in the hell would you spray glyphosate on your crop!? Do they realize it would KILL the wheat!? Yeah theres is a very small part of wheat farming in the Dakotas where their growing season is so short they have killed it right before it ripens to speed up harvest but i dont even think its even a very popular practice. Like rare! Our wheat never gets anything sprayed on it other than liquid fertilizer. Not saying I dont agree with the whole grains and gluten deal but the glyphosate on wheat is silly..

I just stumble on this article, and i also thought like this Dr, but learn that its not wheat what is the problem, but first of all its instant yeast,and high fructose corn syrup. Again i am writing this on my own experience i did on my own body. I came from Europe in 1994 and at that time i was 30 year old and my weight was only 110 lb and my height is 5’9. In first 6 months i gain so much weight eating how i was eating back in home. My weight went up to 164lb. I tried diet high protein low carbs, nothing, ate lots of veggies not so much fruit still couldnt lose weight. Also i need to add i do not exercise in gym, i am not big fan of gyms. I love my garden i do my home work cleaning house work. But after i learn about HFCS that this could be a problem i start buying things what had no HFCS in it. My weight went down to 125 lb only in 1 year. I do eat now bread and pasta and everything what does not have corn syrup. I bake my own sourdough bread and bake once a week some sweets but here in USA sugar is used way too much in baking sweets. I dont have any health issues and now i am 55 year old. I am going through hormonal changes, but i am still 130lb.My grand daughter 3 year old love sourdough bread and no complaints there. What i believe from my own experience that wheat as i first thought was the enemy for me its acctually not

I saw a documentary about wheat years ago, it’s was basically a guy bragging about what wheat looks like today, he showed wheat from the 1950’s, and the wheat in the early 2000’s. Explained how they had genetically changed ( gmo) the wheat of the 1950’s to make a robust pest and weed free wheat plant. Since then apparently Monsanto put gylphosphwte into the wheat seeds that the farmers grow. What does that tell you? I’m sick of tv commercials of a product and they say it’s gmo. LIES! Anything with wheat in it is GMO, same with corn, and tomatoes, everything grown is gmo.

What about spelt? I find I don’t have such a reaction with some spelt breads. Also some sourdoughs. Also I am growing my own sourdough and it is growing with the flours I’m using. The person who started it may have not started with organic flour, yet it was healthy. Could it be that batch didn’t have glyphosate?
I am a gluten and yeast intolerant vegan for sure (was vegetarian initially until I learnt more about the dairy industry, also felt I never reacted too great to dairy products either and noted improvements in sinuses following eliminating them, always used to get blocked ears every so often and other mucus issues). Being from New Zealand I initially was not sure one could survive a healthy life without meat or dairy, however, transitioned over a few years to vegetarian and now over the past few years finally don’t eat eggs anymore (concluded there is no such thing as chicken friendly egg industries after doing the research). I ate sandwiches for years and always had mild skin issues. When I moved to Australia the eczema became super bad and disappeared totally after stopping eating bread, as did the bloated stomach etc for the most part.
I heard one theory regards yeast that made sense, if you eat yeast and wheat (carbs) and other sugars in mildly warm climates they ferment increasing the alcohol levels in your body making you drowsy, irritating your stomach and drying your skin out which can make you prone to eczema.
I still get eczema and bloating if I eat refined grains, including even white rice and rice noodles, and eating yeast free flat breads.
One time following eating at a Belgium Cafe I got a once in a life time massive reaction which made my whole body itchy and covered in a patchy rash, including the palms of my hands, which lasted for a number of days. I could only put it down to the unpasteurized beer (ie high active yest content).
For this reason I believe food compatibility is a very individual thing.
Personally the meat substitutes based upon yeast extracts would be best approached with caution by some.
Personally I will not seek them as a core part of my diet regardless as I have plenty of whole plant food based options that I love the taste of and work great; nuts, legumes, seeds etc

If you are a DQ2 gene carrier, your body does not want gluten in it and creates antibodies to the gluten. These antibodies go on to attack normal cells and tissues. If you want to know if you have a gluten intolerance… check to see if you carry the DQ2 gene.
I heard an additional theory….. that prior to use of yeast to leaven bread, bakers used live starter…… which broke down gluten in dough prior to baking, thereby making it easier to digest. Thought that was an interesting theory.

I eat whole wheat cereal most mornings. (with non-dairy milk of course.) It takes a while to cook wheat berries. In my slow cooker, it takes about 10 hours. In my Insta pot, it takes about 90 min. I think this anti-gluten thing will pass when another fad comes along. I’ve seen many in my life. Many supposed curealls and many things that are bad for you, yet, people keep eating and drinking meat. I don’t understand how people think.
I developed my gluten allergy from the vegan diet… worst decision of my life. Going back to meat was VERY hard (after how hard I brainwashed myself) but hey, at least some of my hair grew back, eventually. I know my gut intolerance to wheat does not come from gluten because I can eat einkorn flour. But if I eat normal bread I get diarrhea, inflammation throughout my entire body which causes extreme pain which can last for days. Thank you for this important video, Mic. You mentioned flatbread as a potential solution to those who may experience sensitivity to yeast. I think there is a better one, i.e. sourdough bread. There has been some papers (e.g. Di Cagno, De Angelis, Auricchio et al. 2004, Applied and Environmental Microbiology) showing that naturally leavened bread such as the sourdough bread is treated well even by some patients with coeliac disease. It is free of baker’s yeast so it may support the argument that it is the yeast not gluten that may be causing ‘gluten intolerance’. Also, naturally occurring yeast in the sourdough bread partially feeds off gluten so in the end a sourdough bread is less ‘gluteny’ than a regular bread you get at the baker’s.
I had been eating keto and then paleo for roughly a year. However I slowly but surely moved away from that diet and am going HCLF whole foods vegan now. The only grains I eat are whole organic (after a very high standard) grains which I ferment at home. Hoever everytime after I eat those grains I always get brainfog even after very small amounts. I very lean and active and young so I have no preexisting health complicants whatsoever. Is this just due to the fact that I have been eating low carb (and no grains) for so long my body isn’t adabted to it anymore and I just need to sit trough this or does this mean I don’t tolearte grains
PS I eat a shit ton of veggies and fruit so deficencies aren’t the problem. I also feel fine when I eat potatos

I am recently trying to become vegan and I read that gluten damages your colon cells so that gluten does to blood and its attacked by Your own body so that is how autoimmune disease can be developed. There is also one more option. Gluten is only one of proteins found in grains. A person showing gluten sensitivity symptoms may be reacting to other proteins present (only or as well?). For example, uncontaminated oats are free from gluten, so they should be possible to consume for gluten intolerant people. But no, not all gluten intolerant people can consume oats. I am one of those, & while it could be any number of the things you mentioned instead, I have already made the test you mentioned with organic wheat grains & had horrible reactions. So I definetly react to gluten. Or other components/proteins found in grains. That research was ongoing last time I checked though, so no conclusions yet.
When I eat whole wheat bread I’m good. When I eat simple rolls (white flour) I get bloated, when I eat whole wheat macaroni I get bloated, my stomach hurts sooo much but I can’t fart and in the end I get a diarrhea. So I don’t know what is my situation….

I’ve been trying to get away from oatmeal, due to the amount of mold I’m finding in different brands. It’s actually worse than you would expect. Anyway I tried millet and it didn’t taste very good, due mainly to the texture. I never thought about grinding up the seeds. What a difference. Thanks for the tip.
I see this was a very old post but I’m so glad I stumbled across it. Found out I’m allergic to wheat but wanted some CoW. Prepared the millet version this morning and it was wonderful! I cooked it in milk instead of water and it had a wonderful creamy texture. Added salt, butter, and cinnamon honey. Soothing and comforting alternative to CoW and oatmeal.
delicious. I like to add sesame seeds to the millet when I grind them and sesame heats the body up. it’s good in winter
It is a great breakfast, I like it before bed too, warm cereal actually helps me sleep:)

You can “outgrow” allergies. I was diagnosed with “allergy to wheat” due to really severe rashes & vomiting. I don’t recall bloating which likely happened too, mainly the rashes and vomiting because they hurt. I was a child. The doc said, “You can switch her to rice but If you feed her wheat, maybe she’ll outgrow it.” So, my mother fed and I vomited..she fed and I got rashes..she fed and I had tummy pains. (Maybe she liked putting me in the bed early.) Eventually, I did outgrow it. So when my own daughter started the rashes / vomiting I knew what to prepare for. She outgrew and to this day loves breads as much as I do.
Come on? Why didn`t you guys put the value about gluten bar from the research. 40% FODMAP and 37% Placebo. The difference is only 3% I can make a conclusion that FODMAP is a bull shit! At the same time if Gluten bar would give around 10% we can make a conclusion that it is GOOD to eat Gluten. So I really don`t understand why you`ve showed only a half of experiment results, even if the experiment was not perfect, as she says.

can you make a video about gluten and if it is healthy or not? And seitan. I know it is a processed food and you are against those, but would you say it is a HORRIBLE processed food or is it a less unhealthy processed meat replacement? Not as great as beans/tempeh but better than mock meats?
It’s an associated immune response. The quality of wheat is lower as food industry tries to make food cheaper. Cheaper and cheaper with worse and worse raw sources. Buy from reputable brands.

Get the cat out of the bag, the culprit is roundup, the farmers spray it on almost all grains so they will dry faster so harvest times can be controlled and shortened. Buy organic, vote with your dollars!
Everyone I personally know that has sworn off gluten did so after feeling sick for quite some time (not sick like a cold really, more abdominal issues), Drs were unable to figure out why, they heard of and decided to try gluten free and voila issues resolved.
Unfortunately, they then began preaching it as a cure all just because it worked for them/their issue.
I feel sorry for anyone who has celiac disease. It can really make your life shitty.
