The problem with multi-vitamin/mineral supplements are two-fold.
1. Vitamins based on organic compounds are simply superior and most useful to our bodies. Synthetics are not, and some, like Vit C Ascorbic Acid are not actually what they claim to be. Little known fact, Vit C as Ascorbic Acid does not, and can not cure scurvy. A potatoe or citrus lemon/lime with actual Vit. C will.
2. Most supplements use inorganic minerals such as calcium carbonate or mag. oxide, which are non-chelated. The body usually can only get 1-2% bioavailability. Organic minerals are chelated with a carbon atom, and they and many chelated-inorganic minerals have much higher availability.
I’m not a salad guy, however leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables are much better for multiple reasons compared to the convenient yet minimally useful supplements one normally finds in the shop.

When my wife and I first started out back in late 70’s early 80’s we bought into the vitamin craze..we bought these mega dose vitamin packets which were cellophane sealed envelopes with maybe 7 various capsules and tablets…well, in a short time BOTH of us developed real problems…urine was like BRIGHT fluorescent yellow and we both began to feel strange weird not good, sick in the gut kind of symptoms too…now how stupid was the company selling these to folks? As if people would not really quickly associate the problems with all these vitamins they are shoveling in? Both of stopped taking em…could be only one or two of the vitamins were causing the problems, but since no information and warnings came with em? We stopped buying and taking em…they sat on a shelf for a couple years and then went to the trash…hard earned money wasted. SInce then we have on and off taken multi vitamins but for the last several years we each have our own little regimes based on whatever studies we each read and are most impressed by….she is type two diabetic so she has her focus on different things than I do…funny thing is that a number of vitamins have supposed experts on both sides of the fence where one is saying to take mega amounts and the other is warning to not take any more than the typically low RDA etc…and/OR that it is life or death important to take the RIGHT version…like vitamin D I kept reading that it has to be “D3″….but then I just heard another doc drone on and he did not say didly about the “3” part of vitaming D…just said to take vitamin D….go figure

Hey. Any idea in how Much iron u Can take if youre an athlete? I take iron supplements, 14 mg per Day. I thought vitamin c was safe because its water soluble so whatever your body doesn’t use gets flushed out? I guess it could give you kidney stones if you dont drink enough liquids, but kidney stones are caused by excess calcium in the urine. Ascorbic acid does increase stomach acid and a high acid diet is one of the causes of kidney stones. So if you can, take natural forms of vitamin c vs straight up ascorbic acid if you want to take vitamin c every day and especially if you have a history of kidney stones.

I honestly liked it, though I was perhaps a bit off-put by the musical skits… really, almost patronized, and I found it difficult to imagine a lot of your target audience Not feeling almost a bit patronized by them. Though the part where you kinda just glared at the singer/musician sorta made up for it some, lol.

I was genuinely educated by it overall, but I would’ve perhaps liked a more broad look at the supplement industry in general, as it’s not just vitamins alone that have so much power and yet are being so widely misused & abused to drive a profit; Even if they may drive the majority of it, idk. I’d like to have a lot of the irrational fears, as well as otherwise baseless conspiracies, misinformation, and disinformation, surrounding pharmaceutical drugs, the FDA, and other regulatory bodies vs “natural” & “organic” supplements disseminated and put to rest more thoroughly. I suppose that would end up making the material too lengthy though, with too many possible tangents, and an potentially unfocused point of conclusion.

Vitamin C does not cause kidney stones. It is misinformation done on purpose. Never did and never will. It is the opposite. My mom had 11mm stone before she started vitamin C about 10 yrs ago. Guess what? It disappeared with her regiment of vitamin C lemon juice and at that time she took also Chanka Piedra drops. For the last 10 yrs on vitamin C every day high doses not stone again. Vitamin pills are unnecessary what the body needs is proper diet not pills but people are eating junk like pitzza mc donals and more the body does not need any of that junk, people is focusing on what the eyes want instead of what the body needs
Why on earth should we consult a Doctor? It’s well known they have little more than one or two lectures on naturopathic nutrition throughout their whole training period. In addition, they work for Big Pharma the antithesis of anything natural because it can’t patent anything that’s natural and therefore, no money to be made.

I’ve been taking high doses of vitamin C for the past 15 years or so; in cold weather up to 5,000 daily.
i have never gotten the cold or flu since i started doing this; i do get the symptoms some times such as
feverish, body ache and a sore throat ; well i chew 2 or 3 pills of vitamin C with rose hip and it takes away the sore throat almost instantly.the other symptoms usually last a couple of hours before im completely fine.
I just ate half a bottle that’s why I’m here my stomach hurts a lot rn I regret eating that much but there FREAKING AMAZING
The question of whether something can be toxic in high quantities can be answered in the general case: yes. This is well established that increasing any chemical in the body to an arbtrary quantity is toxic, it’s just a question of how much.

No such thing as too much vitamin C and HIGH dose Vitamin C is now proven to PREVENT you from getting COVID-19. Pharma companies do not want you to know this because they will lose money…and this is all about money! A doctor has no idea about nutrition. Lol… this is completely bullshit in my case… started taking vitamin C 5 years ago because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired… no health issues at all and haven’t been sick in over 4 years.. I take 4000 mg a day.. sometimes more sometimes less.♂️
What happens when you take 39 MG of vitamin B9 in one day, the dose should be only 1 MG per day for 30 months, do I need to do any further testing or I will be just fine:)?

Consuming Whole Food vitamin C or whole food supplements like Camu Camu or eating a far far more than an orange everyday is what we need. almost every animal on the planet that produces vitamin C in their body almost never has Strokes or heart disease or many of the conditions that we suffer from because of lack of vitamin C consumption, because our bodies don’t make it. I think fruit bats guinea pigs and primates are the only mammals that don’t make Vitamin-C and other than us those animals consume a lot of food rich in vitamin C. A book called ”Why animals don’t get heart attacks” proves a large part of humanity suffers from an epidemic of a low form of scurvy.

This is a typical quickie news report that pretends to offer good health advice to those that can not or will not delve deeper into understanding the issues. Humans cannot make Vitamin C. If we did, the estimates are that we would make between 10 and 18 grams a day! This is a far cry from the 90 mg recommendation for “good health”. Do your homework people!
