I chose to keep keto simple… buy only foods that are keto-legal, always have a cheat snack that is also keto-legal available, make food a lesser priority and never walk away with more than a serving size in your hand.
If I do a refeed meal, I do a 24 hr fast..is that in the same category as exercising excessively after..I just do it because it makes you feel a lot better.
Very true on the “reward” meal..I do that, so ill definitely rethink that approach
Good tip:
If you want to cheat
Take that food place it in a bowl and sit really really far away from the place where the food came from. Lock the door and eat the snack (anything from a few chip or ice cream) then drink lemon water or tea right after(not sweetened). After just chill at that spot for 20 minutes look at your phone, watch a movie read a book and get distracted. Boom you have successfully ate a bit of something you wanted without inhaling the whole thing.

Great video and super important subject. Good point re saying I don’t (choice) rather than I can’t (restriction). I must say that making the refeed a random thing will be a challenge for me because Friday night is usually our date night and that’s when we allow ourselves some flexibility with our eating. The importance of drinking water to compensate calories is not recognized if you have drink water before and while and after a meal me personally i can eat anything and retain a 6 pack and not regress i also sped my metabolizim up with green tea water lemon juice cinnamon creatine and cut back on carbs and get suger out
God, it must be great alteady being healthy. To those of us with years of dieting ahead of us. We have no other rewards except for food we like. Eating baked chicken and steam broccoli everyday makes our life a bit hard, and binging once a month on sushi or something tasty feels good. Cheat meal, refeed meal, whatever it is, until you have been like us, don’t act like you know what our mindsets are like.

Frankly, people won’t feel the need to cheat if they simply feed themselves enough in the first place. Where people go wrong is calorie counting (unnatural for the body), they don’t eat enough, and they do this long enough to the point their body rebels back and they binge, a lot. They have to in order to feel better again, which is why calorie counting doesn’t work in the first place.
Give yourself enough food in the first place, you’ll never cheat, you won’t have the appetite for it.
You say, dont plan your cheat meals, but then you end with saying that you should structure your cheat meals.

Great video! I feel like many fitness gurus dont talk enough about the mental part of dieting and weight loss. It’s a fine line between being disciplined and focused and being obsessed to the point of being unhealthy. I’m 44 have lost over a hundred pounds 2 or 3 times (on lowfat diets and calorie restriction). I was either being “perfect” or eating like a dog let off its leash! Classic diet mentality. I was so hungry and fat deprived that I couldn’t even look at magazines with recipes, it would make me ravenous! So when I fell off the wagon it would happen in a huge way! Then sometimes I would binge and purge. I’ve dieted and rebelled against dieting for 30 years. I now weigh 280lbs. I was 312lbs when I started the keto diet. I walk every other day. I would exercise more, but my joints still hurt under this weight. I just try to be more mindful now, never abandon myself to overeating. I do the best I can and if I screw up I make sure my next choice is healthy. I try to see food as fuel. It’s a slow weight loss, but at least I feel more in control of my appetite and my body.

I researched keto for about 4 months. I started it mid January and lost 30 pounds we first month. What I find difficult is in the only one doing Keto. The other 3 in the house is eating everything. There was a strawberry cheesecake in the fridge bought by a family member for themselves but I ended up eating it because I was suddenly fed up of just eating veggies and a meat product or eggs everyday. I will fast and deplete the glycogen stored from it with exercise to get back in ketosis quickly but I don’t regret eating it and at least it wasn’t choco late which used to be my sugar addiction.

How often are you doing keto? a lot of people say its impossible to build muscle on keto, but you definetely have a lot. You also definetely have good genetics, but still it seems impossible without glycogen to look so pumped.

man, the diet has become so complicated and people are getting sick and fat, how have my ancestors ate 100 years ago, no philosophy and complication, they were healthy and skinny, today I need to know more about the diet than a scientist
One month in to my diet lost over 20lbs, rewarded myself with 2000 calories of peanut butter cups and sugar binge. The next day I’m back on track and feel great because my glycogen stores are back to capacity. Might have gained a pound of fat but that’s peanuts compared to my overall progress. Not to mention I don’t crave sugar anymore
In school I crave food at break because I’m really Hungry, so every day I eat a pizzini because otherwise my stomach will rumble and I will get imbarrised, do you know any healthy foods that fills you up and doesn’t take long to eat?? Reply ASAP!! Thanks!

I work with a guy who does nothing but diet constantly and spends all week looking forward to his cheat meal. Where he goes completely berserk and gorges himself on burgers and pizza and all manner of food. Then wonders why he doesn’t lose any weight. I try to explain to him that all the work he’s done all week is undone with his cheat meal. Also the psychology of “how” he eats seems entirely lost on him. He spends all week being good only to go crazy on Friday night. So its guilt / no guilt/ guilt/ no guilt. And a constant battle between the two. Are you being good just to go crazy or going crazy just to be good?
I’m having keto tortillas, hot metts and a beer for supper. Treating myself for being so good. I love the enthusiasm you and almost all keto dieters have. My kids tell me I’m a motor mouth now but it’s excitement I tell you…lol I found something good

He is right on. When I first started eating healthy the first week I went from 115 to 109. So close to my goal 105. When my cheat day came I went crazy. I ate so much. Next time I went on the scale I was 117. Now I’m learning how to eat properly on my cheat day. Thank you that was so helpful.

I’ve been trying to get into Ketosis but I can’t. I try to incorporate a small amount of berries into my diet to keep myself with varied foods. Could that be a probably cause?

I have a question on macros and recovery after an injury and training.
My current macros are 10%C 20%P and 70%F with a refeed on Friday or Saturday. My question is this, will changing my macros to include more protein throw me out of Ketosis? I lost about 25 pounds on Keto. Not one bit of sugar or refined carbs the whole time. Yesterday, I had an Apple Fritter doughnut and milk. Tasted okay, felt like shit after. That was my ‘cheat meal’….for 2 months worth of keto. It made me want to get back into Ketosis even more. Sugar is severely overrated.
Hi thanks understand the the triggers I notice this a place(few realize this one until a while later after they overeat a few times keep a diary) and with a certain individual they make me feel bad depressing and Im immediately stressed around them. They overeat and I pick up the habit they also make me feel down for the day. Cant figure out why other than we are opposites but I get upset. In this place there are lot of people bringing in takeout hard to deal with. Got to stay away from these. I can find way to completely the triggering person though and limiting the time in the place.

Also, I think it’s important to address problems by their correct name, like exercise bulimia. In my case, I’ve been eating so clean in the past few months, that whenever I decide to indulge I always get an upset stomach and need between one to two full days to recuperate. Do you have any tips on how to successfully integrate less clean meals when most of your meals are clean?
If you fall. Pick yourself up and the next thing you eat make it Keto. Life is too short to beat yourself up.
