Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Place a barbell of appropriate weight on your shoulders. If you’re just starting with the exercise, begin with light weight. The bar of the barbell should rest on your trapezius muscles of the upper back near your shoulders.

Just going to leave this video here. Be careful everyone. Maybe watch Omar and Eric Helms instead?
Can I use a dumbbell and hold it in front of my chest? My upper back is slightly differently positioned due to that, does it make any significant difference?
Only have dumbbells at home.
hey man, so sometimes when i squat heavy, the rep will turn into more of a good morning than a squat, do you have any tips for avoiding this?
love your vids by the way, super informative and very entertaining as well; keep pushing out the great content!
This is not worth it for to the risk/reward ratio. Do front squats instead. Forces you into a good posture and is safe.
As someone dealing with a herniated disk that seated good morning looks sketchy as fuck.
I feel like I spend more time watching workout videos that I do working out
Would the Romanian Deadlift be considered an alternative to this? I don’t like doing Good Mornings
Can you show how to strengthen lower back and how to stretch it out for a full tutorial also can you use dumbbells
https://youtu.be/bmHOXM0NmWU please must watch my natural exercise
Best for the hamstrings. It feels weird but get the best squeeze
oh this video is before he took steroids and got a new accent
THIS IS THE STUPIDEST EXERCISE OF ALL TIME
DONT DESTROY YOUR SPINE
BRUCE LEE ALMOST PARALYZED HIMSELF DOING THIS IDIOTIC EXERCISE
DO A DAM DEADLIFT!
my volleyball workout coach made me keep my legs straight during that now my back hurts lmaoo
Wow Jeff another fantastic video. You’ve inspired me to start my own channel! I hate to be a beg but it’s so hard to gain viewers these days, my transformation video is up and I’ve put a lot of work into it, it would mean so much if you guys could check it out! Thanks
This exercise crippled Bruce Lee when all the street fighting in Hong Kong etc -didn’t.
He came back, remarkably, but the pain made him take pills (Aspirin/meprobamate, trade name Equagesic) which led to a cerebral edema and death.
I’ve never done these and am fine. my.02
This exercise is very bad for the back.No matter how many weights you take
Like these dudes, but just stay away from Good Mornings. Too Risky. Remember, Good Mornings are what fucked up Bruce Lee’s back so bad he had to take the pain meds that killed him. And none of us are Bruce Lee. Leave this in 1973 and do any of the myriad of safer options.
This exercise is because of which I can squat heavy…Thanx good morning
I’m actually happy u made this video…Bcuz I recently bought your Upper/Lower Program & haven’t done the Good Mornings due to lack of knowledge on executing the movement
hey Brian I recently started following your channel. I saw another video where you were working out with some other guys who I decided to look up to check out their videos as well. one of them openly using steroids. Do you use steroids? if you don’t do you compete against athletes who do?
Starting these doing 5/3/1 but I’m terrified of pulling something. Gonna start with the 20-pound bar and build up S-L-O-W-L-Y with this one!
The seated is freaking me out so I’ll stick to the first two
according to Encycolpedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Schwarzenegger, it says about the Good Morning “Keeping your legs locked, and your back straight…” so why do you bend your legs in the vid?
Just saw this video, and remembered that Bruce Lee fucked his back up doing this exercise without a proper warm up.
Just saw Ed Oneil say, before watching this video, that ‘This is the exercise that CHIROPRACTORS LOVE’.
Hello herniated disc good but exercise routine this is snap city.
Fucking great video. I recently added good mornings to my program and this video helped me a lot
Yo Brian. Where did you get the sandbags used in other vids?
this is probably a good thing. your low back is getting worked regardless.
Gonna start doing these in a couple of days as part of the 5/3/1 assistance work for deadlifts but I’m gonna start S-L-O-W, like that pre-weighted 20-pound bar the ladies use for curls kind of slow.
Since Daenerys is no more,i think there is no need to bent the knee
Good morning is not called a good morning because that is how the Japanese bow and greet each other. It is called a good morning because the movement resembles how you stretch to get out of bed in the morning
Man fuck all these people saying Good mornings are dangerous. Yeah so is bench if you do too much weight and it falls on your chest braking your lungs. Come on, don’t be stupid. Take it easy n listen to your body.
Could the good morning replace hip thrusts completely; only because it can be awkward to do hip thrusts.
Hi, have you experienced Epic Max Muscle? (Go Google it) You will discover the crimes we commit against our bodies. With Epic Max Muscle, you will discover how to get ripped fast.
whenever info these, the bar rolls and it tears up the skin on my shoulders. not to the point of blood, but bruises and rough skin. does anyone have some tips to keep this from happening.
the music is too loud and your voice too quiet in this vid, its out of balance so you know for next time
Idk if I can trust crossfit after I heard kipping pull up was a real thing
Anyone else find they get stuck at the bottom of the movement. I get down okay but when I’m at the bottom of the movement I struggle to initiate the return. What are we pushing through?
How can I squat 330 but can’t do these at all. My body just doesn’t move that way
thank you for this. i always watch ur channel especially for form ♥️
I did these in the gym maybe I went to high of a weight because the bar felt like it was gonna slide off my back
1:05 So, Ill get better at Twerking doing this exercise?!?:-D
I luv how detailed you explain movements….this feature makes ur vids better than all other fitness YouTubers
I have lower back stenosis. Will this destroy my back or help it?
I wouldnt recommend having straight legs in this excercise, you might get injury really fast. Friend of mine ended hes bodybuilding carrier by that and trust me, he was no newbie (3rd place in my country at a time).
Great video, Jeff. Love your content always. You’re an inspiration. Come be my trainer in Vancouver
Only 40-50% of squat 1rm.
Meanwhile Alberto nuñez is doing his GM working sets with 400lbs…
I was just going to stop doing these, thinking it may be hurting my low back, but if they will help bulletproof my back then they will stay! Its definitely my weak point! And it is improving. Thanks again Brian for another great video!
I’m not that strong, but honestly, doing heavy GMs at the gym feels pretty cool because most people couldn’t do more than the bar with proper form.
Researching how Bruce Lee passed brought me here (this being the very lift that destroyed his back leading to a requirement of pain killers that when mixed with an antibiotic provided by an actress, caused his brain to swell and had an aneurysm) no thanks on this one good bro’s! Some reports of Bruce’s attempts was a no warmup, 125lb attempt on his 135lb body, by the 8th rep…snap city…
You should make a video comparing good mornings and RDLs since they are pretty similar
Good video but i avoid good mornings. THere are easier and more affective excersises.
A good morning exercises is a risk-to-reward exercise… it’s a bigger risk than a reward… lumbar vertebrae gets overstretched!
Do it like this and youll get the exact same injury Bruce Lee got.
@buffdudes can you guys do a green arrow workout program Stephen amell portrays the character and it will help as that is my role model
I remember I was in the gym my dad (a personal trainer) pointed to an older dude doing good mornings and said “see that? Never EVER do that. No amount of gains is worth your back or falling forward head first.”
Great video, Brian! Good mornings (your first style example) are hands down my favourite squat and deadlift accessory. I think a lot of people that are nervous to use them just automatically think they are a dangerous exercise. I’ve never had an issue with them, but like you said, the setup needs to be treated the same as a squat and deadlift, where you get that correct breathing and bracing in place and do the movement correctly. My abdominal muscles and hamstrings are always on fire the day after a solid good morning session.
Hello jeff i didnt know this tecnique good mornig has exist when i perform i do like a dead lift…….please tell me this its the perfect way to do? Thanks your fan from lima peru
Great video! Thanks so much for putting out content of this quality, really useful!
Kinda weird movement for me. Ill practice it. Is there weight carry over with stiff leg deadlift Jeff? Usually do this movement with it
Please do a bit on artificial protein sources. So many places to get your macro fill from now like protein chips, protein cheese, protein ice cream and even 20g from a pint of beer….
I love this Technique Tuesday series so much. The slow motion footage plus the tight editing lines really help to walk you through all of the smaller points of these compound movements.
If I could add ONE THING to my wish list from this series (or a series like it) to be covered in the same comprehensive way; it would be a 2 or even 3 part safety video. Even though you cover mistakes/risks of injuries in every video, I think the TT videos are WONDERFUL for new people scared of these bigger movementsand covering a thorough list of common injuries and how to avoid them would be a helpful way to ease those fears for lifting newbies. I ALWAYS click the videos with thumbnails along the lines of ‘things I wish I knew when I started’, and I think all of us can think of a painful initial mistake we’ve made we didn’t realize was dangerous.
Yo Jeff, can you cover the myth of mercury poisoning by eating too much tuna in the next season of myth bust mondays please?
Great content, as always
Could you do a video on imbalanced muscles and what to do about them?
I use to be terrified of these. But what works for me is doing them with light to moderate weight. Keeping the reps high, usually between 12-20. Definitely avoid doing these before low bar squats & before deadlifts. It’s a great exercise. Personally it targets my glutes & hams most but I’ll definitely feel sore in my lower-mid back as well. Great vid Brian. Enjoyed the vid bud.
JEFF NIPPLEHARD IS THE WIND BENEATH MY WINNNNNGS!!!!!!! #GYMTWERKWEDDAYS
Wake up mr west, mr west, mr fresh, mister, by himself he so impressed. I mean damn
Wow Jeff another fantastic video. You’ve inspired me to start my own channel! I hate to be a beg but it’s so hard to gain viewers these days, my transformation video is up and I’ve put a lot of work into it, it would mean so much if you guys could check it out! Thanks
I just wanna kidnap this guy and make him say “bar” over and over again.. it’s so satisfying to listen to..
This guy definitely has the knowledge but you must understand also that he takes steroids. His physique is not obtainable naturally.
I find this exercise amazing for strength and flexibility of the hamstrings, it forces you to stretch the hamstrings while at the same time adding resistance.
Last time I did these, the guy on the platform next to me gave me “advice” on how to squat properly. I was like ok bro thx
it just fucking looks wrong… like a…how not to work in a warehouse… video…
You looked like a transformer transforming in that opening clip:) Great videos brother
Your the only aesthetic looking person that doesnt look like your on roids or taking clen
Long time subscriber, but I never comment. The explicit instruction on this video was outstanding. Thanks for the quality content.
You should do a longer video about an overall blue print for what you went through to build your specific physique
I can’t do good mornings, I went good night went I tried to do it
These gave me seriously sore (in a good way) hamstrings like no other exercise!
Unarguably the highest quality and most informative fitness content on YouTube
Please keep doing the edits with the little lines and stuff at the things your talking through. This is so helpful for visual learners!
Awesome tips thanks! Been struggling with these for a while!
I actually feel nothing in my glutes/hamstrings when I do good mornings. Will try them again using your tips!
Thank youuuuu for breaking down the Good Morning! Such an under-used movement. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone do it in my gym…but me! Thanks Jeff!
Kinda weird movement for me. Ill practice it. Is there weight carry over with stiff leg deadlift Jeff? Usually do this movement with it
Thank you Jeff for these always informative and enducational videos. It’s very helpful
So it is okay to keep your knees slightly bent on this one? It does seem to work better that way.
I could do these with perfect form and wouldn’t be able to bend my back or walk right for a week. My back seizes up with any loaded hip extension. I just stick to lunges and abductors
you know which exercise is way better than good morning?? weighted bar hyperextensions 45º. Your welcome
Thank you Scott, I was just looking for a good exercises, I’m really happy I’ve found your channel:)
So I’ve been a YouTuber for about eight years obviously my channel is not as big as yours which I’m okay with LOL but I would just like to thoroughly thank you for great content in the realm of fitness and fitness science and learning for myself as a personal trainer you’re definitely my go-to source I appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to the industry and also as a YouTube creator thank you for your contribution
Hi there may I ask which shoes are you wearing? I have some Nike but they aren’t suited for weightlifting (cushion soles) so I’m looking for some good ones to start with. Thank in advance
Hola! Thank you so much for the simplified explanation. I’m such a noob but you’re my Fitness inspiration
Hey! Love your channel, and I keep your advice in mind while working out. I’m still not ready to graduate to the weight room, so no Smith machine for me yet. Can you do a video on butt workouts that would include kettle bells? Thank you!!
If you want to lose fat quickly, you should look up on google Cosmos Fat Loss. They can guide you and help you get the body you deserve.
This was supposed to be Jeff Cavellier how did I get this guy? Pretty fluffy. Jeff’s assistant better built.
Are SLDL as good as good mornings if you don’t have the mobility yet to touch the barbell to the floor?
I don’t comment often/if at all. But this was incredibly well filmed, annotated and explained. Jeff, cheers mate. Thank you for consistently keeping the bar high (no pun intended) with high quality videos both from a content and production standpoint. Cheers
before breakfast? You need something to get your body going throughout the workout, please eat before you go training.
Great video and done in the best entertaining way AS USUAL! Thanks for sharing and explaining brother! Keep the good stuff coming and good luck with the new gym finishing touches!!
I don’t understand why his shirts off to explain good mornings. Who would ever work out without a shirt, gonna stick to everything.
Did Bro Jeff really rip the back of his shirt open just to rest the bar on his back??
Is there a reason you have your legs AT least shoulder width? I go super narrow when I do these.
I do seated and standing goodmornings. I believe you should never rep out. I use 80kg and stick to eight to 12 reps. Another variation is pause reps where you lower the bar, pause to eliminate momentum, and then lift the bar. I have been doing GM for many years without a problem, although I have never seen anyone else perform this exercise. I’m 70 so I haven’t exactly got youth on my side.
Hey Brian! Love your videos. I have a question. You dip your butt back and your toes raise up, mine do too in some other exercises such as squats or deads or str8 leg deads. Should this be of concern? Never lost balance, always had a good posture, just something I’m curious of. Thanks for the content! Getting stronger by the day thanks to it.
Haven’t been to your channel in a couple years
May have to subscribe
what is the different between deadlift and this “GoodMornings”
I look specifically for this guy when trying to learn or improve on an exercise, as he’s got results! How am I supposed to get big if the instructor isn’t big himself? Thanks Scott
Scott, you have a beautiful body! Keep it up, and thanks for your videos
you rest the bar on your shoulders, never your neck, just like when you’re doing squats
I tried these today based solely off pictures, bad idea, I wasn’t looking in a mirror but I can’t imagine how terrible and awkward I looked.
I have a finger injury and can’t do RDL for a while! Cant wait to try this out!!!
Would have thought you’d want the bar lower on the traps and rear delts?
Jeff, can your boyfriend show us some tips on filming and editing? He seems to make your vids real smooth.
I’m wondering the same thing. Even though the weight is in a different spot, I don’t think that the body can tell the difference. It looks like exactly the same muscles involved with a regular deadlift.
Buff dudes i request a video of 300 lbs 10 reps good morning
Nice video. I look forward to Strict OHP series if possible:D. Respect!
watch this idiot.. what you are doing is not a good morning.. it´s the end of your lucky days ^^ you are racking the bar in the worst position I´ve ever seen..
oh and I can´t post videos where the exercise is performed well.. just watch canditoHQ..
Hi there. May I post the link to your video here on my youtube channel? I’d like to put your link in my video’s description so people can see what a Good Morning Exercise is. Here is the video where is will be posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tll68ucxHM8Thanks!
I remember a time before you Sally’s would dislike Brian’s informative videos… I guess it comes with the larger pool of viewers.
it has to do with leverage, in a deadlift you are lifting with your legs and then hinge your back at the top, when you do this, you will feel the stretch on your glutes and hamstrings when you go down, and you use those muscles on the way up.
Heya, The best success that I have ever had was with Marks magic method (i found it on google) Without a doubt the most incredible diet that I have ever tried.
im not making excuses or defending anyone, but not everyone is looking to be a huge bulky bodybuilder. i prefer to have a mixture of muscle, speed, strength and endurance. big bulky body builders have no flexibility and no stamina.
Devin Townsend should be the intro music to all your Vids!!!!!!!!!!!:D
atleast Scott can squat and dead lift, and he actually has proof of size and strength gains. your argument is invalid.
lol to be so into lifting he is kinda small, but has good aesthetics. But where are the GAINS MAN? srs. you’ve looked the same for a while. And don’t give me some ‘I’m where I want to be’ BS. thats an excuse and you know it. Good info on this channel, but I wanna see some gains for real.
thank you for so many awesome beginners guides!! gym equipment/working out is always intimidating to me, since im new at this:)
No success with a fasting weightlift…you want to make sure you’ve got the energy. Anaerobic exercises require the use of blood sugar. However, fasting cardio = yes.
Remember though, Bruce Lee broke his back doing this excercise.
This is an awesome exercise. I feel it in my hamstrings alot more than when I do RDLs, and you can go heavy just make sure you lift with the right technique
I would prefer to lower the barbell some, when you start putting plates on there, that has to killll the neck.
On what days would you do goodmornings on and how many reps/sets?
These feel awkward lol. I tried them a few days ago. I was too worried the bar was gonna roll upward so I stopped and grabbed the trap bar and did trap bar deads instead lol
Hey, babes!
Let me know if you have any other questions about how to do the Good Morning exercise.
Links to How to Use Gym Equipment, How to Squat, and How to RDL in the description.
Leggings are Alphalete, shoes are Vans Canvas Sk8 Hi.
Have a great weekend, loves!
Do you really endorse this exercise? When at its lowest point the weight is far away from your feet, meaning you’re way more likely to fall and injure yourself. There are surely safer exercises you can do for these muscles. Not hating, just saying.
I have lower back issues. Hurt it one time slipping on ice and it was never the same. Reinjured it 3 to.es after to the point I couldnt work or get out of bed or a chair. Should I even fuck with these?
have always wonder, whats the diff between this and stiff leg deadlift beside the fact that one is in the squat position and the other is in the deadlift position
Technique Tuesday is back!!! I’ve covered 21 exercises so far and have another 9 or so to go! Check out all the movements covered so far on the Technique Tuesday playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcBig73ojpE&list=PLp4G6oBUcv8yGQifkb4p_ZOoACPnYslx9
scott, i originally was doing this with straight legs and i though i was doing it properly, i could really feel it untill someone at my gym approached me and said i HAD! to bend my knees otherwise i could of snapped my hamstrings. Please reply if you could. thanks
Nice channel. Very informative/helpful. Keep it up!
BTW, do you know any exercise on how to get taller? Thanks in advance!
Really? A deadlift is lifting up a weight from the ground and here you have the barbell on your shoulders…
When I do good mornings I feel my glutes working much more than my lower back. So how can i target my lower back first?
And what other exercises do you recommend for strengthening the lower back?
Quick question, should you eat a meal before or after you workout?
didnt bruce lee’s back get injured doing this exact exercise…
Thank you so much for this video @ScottHerman this was really enlightening for me I have nerve damage but try stretching to get my muscle back it’s had to exercise my glues and I’m not able to touch my toes do you have any suggestion exercises to get my lower back and calf muscles to relax loosen up while building muscle?
So I do all work sets to failure. However, taking good mornings to failure resulted in me fucking my back at the end of my sets. I therefore replaced good mornings with hypers…
Any thoughts from experienced guys would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Brian, I’m grateful for your videos always with great content… You sound as honest and humble as possible and I believe no one have the guts to question how hard you work. Your work ethic is a true inspiration for lifters from any level to become better athletes and persons. Wish you the best!
this is how bruce lee hurt his back and got him hooked on pharma
Agree 100% Brian, this has always been one of those exercises that’s vital if you want to deadlift big numbers. Every big deadlifter at the gym where I trained at,swore by these. All us guys in the Kidderminster Lions powerlifting team did these, from the 60kg to the 110+kg team members. Proof being that one of our members pulled almost 900lbs. This was in the late 70s!
i’ve read that this exercise target three muscles. the most trained being lower back and secondary are the hamstrings. after a few series my hamstrings got muscle soreness and my lower back nothing.
am i the only one who noticed when he is doing the exercise he is holding his breath?
Do these on back day or leg day?
I used to do deadlifts with lower body, but started doing them with back day and it blasts my back better
Thankyou HELPED ALOT!! I’m a high bar squater, but I havent really tried low bar might switch to make good mornings more comfortable or use the ssb instead.
So much about this exercise does not look right! I’m avoiding this one like the plague.
So detailed, very understandable, above and beyond great explanation! Thank you!
Best video on YouTube describing this exercise, thank you my form was awful:/
The best channel on YouTube regarding weight lifting bar none
I already have a million glute and ham exercises (RDL’s, stiff legged deads, long forward and lateral walking lunges, back extensions, glute ham raises, reverse hypers, nordic curls, ham curls, hex-bar deads, bulgarian split squats, hip thrusts, belt squats, jane fonda leg raises, front foot elevated split squats, step-ups, kickbacks, back squats, leg press), and just a few real quad builders (squats, leg press, narrow lunges) (I dont do leg extensions for quite obvious reasons).
I dont need more lower back, ham or glute exercises! But I cannot NOT start doing good mornings now!:(
I love good mornings, it changed my life years ago. I like (lightweight) Zerchers as a warm up to putting it on my back. Then, ahhhhhh:) good morning
Great advice. I started doing these after watching this and good mornings are a favorite now. I was surprised how much load I could move. I would have done them wrong had I not watched your video. Thanks!
This exercise is great, when done correctly. Have a friend film you with light weight, so you can correct errors.
Side note: is there a gorilla in the background of this video? When he’s talking about variations.
What would be the best way to program this into your routine? Squat days? Deadlift days?
Fucking great Video mate! I’m going start relying on these a lot more.
Thanks Jeff. These are the best technique vids around! Keep them coming please mate
It would be a shame if you did not bulk up when these other normal people accomplish it so easily using “MegaMAX Muscle Maker” (Google it).
Is a good morning really that much different from an RDL? It is the same movement patten just that an rdl is safer imo because you can just drop the bar if something goes wrong.
These type of exercises are good to build gains, but horrible for your lower back. I got a disk herniated doing stiff leg deadlift. And let me tell you, it is one of the most frustrated and debilitating things to ever happen to me. I would stay away from these exercised, trust me you do not want a disk problem.
This is the workout that Bruce Lee used to do!
Then he broke his back.-look it up
Extremely dangerous workout, not too many people(No One!) should do this, no matter how in-shape you are.
They’re called good mornings because when you do them, you have a good morning the next day
informative video Brian
.. always a pleasure to see your uploads
Have you heard about “Smashing Ripped X?” (check it out on Google) It is a quick and easy way for you to bulk up fast.
Oh shit, legit strongman doing made up Dairyland Strength lifts
Good Mornings one of the best exercises for strength that people love to hate. You did a great job on stressing to people that you need to be 100% focused while doing this or you can get hurt. I’ve never seen someone that was really strong with good mornings have a weak deadlift or squat
Louie Simmons is a fraud and Good Mornings are way too dangerous to be doing.
Thank you, great explanation, not only learned to good morning but also improved my kettlebell swing, no more pain in my lower back
yeah, ruin your lower back, you’ll be crawling around like an old lady in 5 years!
Its a good morning to do good mornings <3 i do these every morning! Thank you!
O that makes sense i always tried to good-morning by lifting with all back. Ya pushing the butt back keeps the bar over the center of gravity. And i shouldn’t tip over or feel wobble. Definitely going to see what this does. Nice video
Oh, I just work these in on rep 4 and 5 of every squat work set.
This is a great video!
I’m an idiot! But at least I’m not a gym idiot. Thanks for the tips, Brian!
donno… doing good mornings seems to me like asking for troubles
Is the goodmorning a movemement that I could use as an assistance-movement for my squaddays, or is this, like the squad, a big lift on its own?
enjoy the Camara angle, but I still wish to see the relative position between the bar and the foot, which doesn’t show because the camera is too close.
I hate doing any lower back exercises. I’ve seen too many guys wreck themselves.
When you bring out Bro Jeff, do you change clothes between each exercise? Or do you film all bro jeff shots and then film normal jeff shots?
Brian, I just want to take a second to thank you for all you teach us. I don’t follow your programs exactly, I tweak them a little to make them fit my situation a little better, but even hitting the gym less often than i used to, and hitting setbacks from illnesses and just life complications all this year, I come back measurably stronger every time. I credit your training principles. Big, big thanks, Brian. You are making a difference in people’s lives, man.
For tight hamstrings, is it better to stop as far as you can go without bending the knees down, or bend the knees? GMs for me always slam my hamstrings instead of my back and I always think I must be doing them wrong and stop doing them.
i’ve read that this exercise target three muscles. the most trained being lower back and secondary are the hamstrings. after a few series my hamstrings got muscle soreness and my lower back nothing.
Beard is lookin’ FIERCE!! Been wanting to give these a try, but they scare me.
legit question for your Q&A: Im fairly new to the channel, and love the content! In the Dry Needling video, you said you have a brain tumor? I’ve been watching a lot of old vids and never heard you talk on it.. Or is there a vid I missed?
Liked!!! Quick, to the Point… Not ALOT of UN -nesscery words…
god damm this videos r super usefull, u actually learn a lot about how to perform an exercise, keep up the good work buddy!!!!!
“Like you’re saying good morning with a lot of weight on your back.”
That’s every morning for me, man…
@scotthermanfitness i have problems with the bar rolling when weight is added and doing high bar position like you have, I cannot do low bar comfortably, anyone else had this problem?
If you want to bulk up, you should search Google for “Elite Muscle Formula”. They will help you get the body you deserve.
Yo Brian! I finally found a gym cool enough to have atlas stones and i been using them as much as i can, my only problem so far is that they scrape up my forearms really bad so the point where it becomes a bit of a bloody mess haha. It doesn’t bother me too much, but it’s really a problem because i don’t want to be nasty and get blood everywhere, is my only option to wear a really thick long sleeve shirt? or is this potentially an issue with my form? ive watched a few vids on stones i’m just not sure if i have baby skin or there’s something i can do to prevent my forearms from getting tore up
When I do these I feel like it is a slightly better rdl. Meaning I feel like it works a little more muscles in my back that I don’t feel in the rdl..
Bruce Lee fucked him self up on good mornings awesome vid but man
For me with long femurs, poor ankle mobilit every squat is a good morning.
Good mornings ARE NOT worth the risk on your lower back and neck. Do RDLs instead people
this is gonna sound stupid. But can your footwear have an effect on gains?
huh??
of course you can, muscle doesn’t have to be fully contracted to do work.
stick to drinking beer and ill stick to fitness
Any thoughts on variations such as arched back vs rounded back good mornings or banded good mornings?
Starting tomorrow this idiot is going to do good morning work in the morning. You’ve got to love your ‘idiot’ self enough to improve! Thank you Brian for the tips.
Lemme guess
He rides a chromed out hayabusa with no shirt on and flipflops?
a really good video. but it’s a shame you speak so fast that it can be difficult to get all the important details with. mvh jønne
Why is it EVERYTIME I try out a lift Brian highly recommends the next Video he makes is a How-to on that lift…… a day or two after I needed it?!?!?! XD
Is there much of a difference between romanian/stiff deadlift and good mornings?
Seems like they both hit a lot of the same muscles.
Bodyweight goodmornings and band goodmornings have been key for my back rehab.
i’ve read that this exercise target three muscles. the most trained being lower back and secondary are the hamstrings. after a few series my hamstrings got muscle soreness and my lower back nothing.
Thanks for sharing so much Jeff! Plz do it every Tuesday!!! Love this program!
What if you set the pins for the good mornings to where the bar would be right at your knees on the deadlifts?
I’ve been doing good mornings for about a year now both seated and standing, not serious weights just 2.5 plates & i thought I was doing them correctly.
Practiced this this technique completely as described with just the bar and now instead of just feeling hamstrings after.. i can feel my lower back being much more engaged, better MMC.
Thank you Sir!
Great video gigantor! haven’t been on YT for a while, time to binge watch the last few.
Thanks for the video. There isn’t very good info on the good morning. I’ve been doing this and my deadlift and squat have gone up a lot. I’m also the only guy in the gym who does it.
I’m guessing 3 monster energy’s before videoing this. Am I close?
Dude i have not been able to walk for days my hammies are dead
Bruce Lee broke his back doing this exercise. Always take some precaution
I love this exercise, but would you recommend to use a squat stance or a deadlift stance?
Might replace my dumbell hyper extensions with these in the future
Hi, I never understood this exercise and never have done it, or tried to do it before but felt it was dangerous. Is this for your low back or hamstrings or both.
Fantastic exercise I started doing based on Wendler’s recommendation. It’s a terrific posterior chain movement. Extremely underrated.
Stupidest exercise EVER
DONT DO THIS!
Its how BRUCE LEE destroyed his back
And almost couldnt walk
Dont be stupide
i always do these with pins for safety and depth consistency and pause on the pins.
killer hamstring doms the next day
Who would ever dare dislike Jeff’s videos? Always pure gold and really well done. Thanks for your effort Jeff!
It looks like she has the bar in the high bar position. I would highly recommend not doing that if you are using a regular barbell.
I can’t do this position, it’s really hard to maintain my back straight and everytime I do that the position of my back is curve is it because I have big belly?
To anybody that’s subscribed to the journal, two questions: is it worth it contents wise, and how much does it cost?
Go go go goooo CrossFit…..
