To do this variation, do the same exercise as indicated above with the hold. Complete a full kettlebell circle around the left leg and come up to stand. Continuing the fluid motion, bring the left arm into an uppercut.
Then bring the kettlebell down in front of the body, and continue the rest of the figure eight.Discover more cues, teaching ideas, and how to do steps at How to Do Standing Figure Eight Arms Exercise. Your comparitives and tricks bring so much clarity and confidence in correct form! Thank you so much for being patient and so willing to provide a venue for those who are no where near LIKE TEXAS lol!!! ❣
The best demonstration ever! First time I have understood figure 8!!!
Tiazza, you go girl! I caught on to dance move, i like the bacis, you are cute diva! God bless you!ℹ↙
STOP TALKING SOOOOOO MUCH AND DEMONSTRATE INSTEAD!!!! Get to THE point!!!!!!!!
Ohhh my gosh!!! Now I know why I always had trouble with belly dancing. I didn’t bend my knees enough!! No wonder I looked so stiff and dumb now I’m looking a little bit good
Just found your video. Thanks! I love the explanations you give and you are very patient. I am musically and dance challenged, so your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you a thousand times over!
I love the explanation and I am going to practice every morning. Thank you very much.
I think you are a great teacher and i appreciate you explaining everything to give us a better understanding to the moves. You are awesome. Keep up the good work and videos..
i Love how you explain everything!!! So helpful best teacher ever♥
my teacher told me that the correct maya is without lifting your feets.. it’s a paain for me because my knees hurt a lot and it’s all about the knees:/
I took my test this past weekend and this is definitely the trickiest part.
understanding how counter steer works makes this a lot easier.
I also cheated a bit by not using the clutch and just gave the throttle a little bump when I felt like a needed a little momentum. our bikes had really low idle which was why I was probably able to do it without using the clutch…
hey,if anyone else is searching for how to belly dance videos online try Pycanta Belly Dance Protocol( search on google )? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cousin got excellent results with it.
I am so glad you made this channel, you’re such a good teacher haha love you!!!❤
I can do the figure 8 without even getting the rear brake and the clutch involved.
I just got into watching your videos and I love it! If I could I would watch them in a row but unfortunately I’m not that fast of a learner:D I really enjoy your explanations because they’re so helpful. And If somebody ever tells me again that I’m speaking fast I will show them one of your videos 😉 Thank you so much for all the work you put into your videos!
As with most sport bike riders, doesn’t really know how to ride
I love this! My older sister is a wonderful bellydancer and moved from India to the U.S so she never really got to teach me how to belly dance! I now know some of the basics and it comes really easy and natural to me! Great job (:!
You have a new subscriber!! You are the best!! The best instructor I’ve been looking for!! And by the way pls keep explaining the details!! I love it!!
you do NOT talk alot! Really tired of ppl talking so much shit when you sooo helpful. THANK YOU for taking the time to stand there and explain everything. You’re WONDERFUL! ^_^
I loved the technique you used to teach. Finally I understood and I can do it. Tks!!
If she talks too much then, there are other videos to watch. Don’t have to be negative. What did you learn from the video?
I just relised that i have always just naturally done the front back mixed with the maya. So its the maya just curving front to back… Just how ive always seemed to do it
So thankful that you talk thru every step. That’s why I am able to understand and follow exactly what you say!
I think you know what u r doing but your explanation is not continuous and flowing. I believe if you just talked about it first and then followed through with the dance moves it would not be as hard to follow.
i love the way you do your videos you talk me though it and that makes it more easier for me
She is the bet teacher in Belly Dance. I saw more than 100 videos about it and she is really the real thing. Thank you
I think you are a great instructor… you break down the moves and explain them so well.
The sides of my thighs right below my hips pop when I do the figure 8 and also sometimes with hips lifts. Does this just mean I just need to practice more, is the technique wrong, or is there some other issue? Thanks!
I Love your videos!!!!!!! Keep posting! they help sooooo much! thank you!
Thanks so much for watching this video! I think you’ll like this one too https://youtu.be/Hg-bSb1FLTA Check it out!
Is this the one used for circumsition?
Anyway great video,thanksss
what is the preferred technique to close muscle or fascia?
and could you make a video on types of sutures and needles?
thanks in advance
I love your canal and I learn of you many things thanks for your job it’s helpful
Thankyou so much youre vedios are so good and useful keep going
In general when exercising does it make sense to work your weaker side more? Maybe do a few extra reps per set on your weaker side? Or will it all balance out by working both sides equally?
You alluded to your knee injury being from a fast direction change. Can you expand on how you did it please? What ligaments were damaged?
Thanks for the great demonstration and explanation. Not sure why, but all the weight transfers in the figure 8 remind me of snowboarding/surfing (but a symmetrical work instead of keeping one leg front all the time)
Thanks Mark for these vids…Getting stronger and love your no nonsense approach…Would love a good workout vid to lose the beer belly..lol
Thank you for your short, informative and on-point tutorials. They help me a lot!
Thanks Mark. It’s inspiring to see you do that movement with 70lbs -no joke.
Addressing an earlier video in which Mark recommends 5 workouts a week, I can do 4 kettlebell workouts a week for 65 minutes each, but the fifth workout drags, so I cut down to four. I saw on this excellent channel that 5 days is ideal, but that fifth day is going to have to be a non-kettlebell workout because of the muscle breakdown I’m getting on 4 days. Thanks for the fantastic instructional videos.
I think your advice is actually bad. You should never look at the ball, but instead look where you want to go, otherwise you will fall or have to step on the asphalt. Also your figure eights are too wide, even for a complete beginner.
Would you please recommend a duration for a good physic I don’t know how long should i train
Just joined your channel and I lov it tany 4doing Rop.Nots,,co’s iv had 2strokes and trying 2learn again,,,goddess everyone and remember 2share the lov
Ha, That went right over my head.
Very helpful video, thanks!
Very nice. Some that I hadn’t seen before. I especially appreciate your rotation of the knots after they are tied.
This is a great tips and knowledge that can help in any outdoors environment.
Thanks Andre.
“Instead of pulling out, you’ll do a reach around instead.”
Giggity. Or Phrasing. Regardless, insert childish giggle here.
Good tutorials as always Andy. And glad to hear about Zip too. I’ll be sharing over on on FB page, CKOutdoors.
Was the pause during the first knot you trying to keep a straight face and continue?? 😉
I’m sorry, you said pull out and reach around! I’m laughing, but learning!
U Need to make a knots for dummys book or vid but otherwise great vid
Using the clutch in method is the easy way out. Try completing the figure 8 on gear 2 without clutching in and complete it within 10seconds. That’s challenging and is the standard used overseas. USA is too lenient
Where is this place? Need a empty parking lot like this in NYC to practice.
I played 8 fig as a piece of cake…examinor said that I am painting 8 figure…very grateful for your instructions…
Its so wide that you forget that youre doing figure 8, it should be done practically with wheel locked
Hey Dan
Lately I see that you’ve been using Nikki’s bike in your videos. Is that because it’s smaller and more nimble then your Harley or that you like it better? I’m sure the Honda is easier to lean with the exhaust being much higher then the Harley.
I love watching your videos, and I’m really excited on learning how to dance. Also, I’m very pleased that you take time and talk to your fans
I’m sorry sir, but you would fail if you did figure 8s that wide in Pennsylvania.
Wow, over here he would flunk the test. We only have 12 feet to make a UTurn and Figure 8’s. I grew up in the States where they give you more like 20 feet.
As this video demonstrates, if you keep going in a straight line long enough you eventually end up doing a figure 8.
Hi, I’m a returning rider. I took the MSF class 20 years ago, rode for six months, was a total squid, crashed really badly, almost died, and gave up on riding. I was young, immature, and just not mentally ready for the responsibility of riding a motorcycle. Recently, I started dipping my feet back into riding. About 3 months ago, I went out and bought an FZ-07 totally on a whim and started riding again. I cannot articulate at all how I ride. I just do it, instinctively, without thinking about it. I don’t remember anything from my MSF class, but somehow my body remembers everything. My issue is this: I want to know why and how my body does what it does this and want to really improve my riding as an adult rider. I want to know why sometimes I counter balance and steer into the turn and other times I lean in and countersteer instead. I know that I still ride wrong on many occasions, particularly in slow speed maneuvers. I need to figure out a way to over ride my body’s old habits and do it correctly. So I’m looking for a general rule of thumb for when when to counter balance and when to lean in. Do you have any advice for me?
I think you can better use the gas till 2000rpm and use the rear brake to control the speed. Also lean against in the way your motor is going to keep your balance, just like he is doing, but don’t get off the seat of your motor. This is the way I learned. Also I live in The Netherlands, country in Europe, here is a figure eight almost mandatory to do during a exam.
Thius is a pro[per outfit to show the movements. At least for me thanks.
we had a lot less space when I failed my motorcycles test.:(
ha ha ha when i am trying to do 8 my body cant control always dancing:P my instructor shouted to me always
I normally get dances naturally I CANT GET THIS ONE
i just cant believe people looking at this guy thinking he knows how to handle a bike. It looks more like his 3rd lesson…. completely wrong position, too wide, his sitting position is not relaxed at all…
indeed… jeez this is called circling the earth not a figure 8…..
Whuahahahaha. In EU you will get your self in trouble by doing at this way. The circles are way too big and the motorcycle is not leaning at all….
yep..that’s good.. i needed a lesson before doing trials..:D

Thanks for this Dan. I am in Europe and I am going through the driving school to obtain the motorcycle licence. When I had to do figure 8 on a 250 it was no problem, I enjoyed it, I even had fun. Now when I have to do the same thing on MT-07 I can’t pull it out for some reason. I can’t get myself to look up and where I want to go, I feel stressed out and the bike stands still but from all the overload in my head I put my foot down. Now I hope I’ll get better tomorrow after watching this. And funny thing is that when I have to drive on the circuit, make a U-turn on a circuit I have no problem whatsoever, nor do I feel overwhelmed. But I end up between the cones and I’m game over….
well, if you can handle a figure of 8 you can ride left or right on junctions/bends or corners…. but keep your feet on the pads!
Do we keep the hitting the throne by little to go in a steady slow speed or do we just hold the throne and use cluth to increase and slower the speed?
This is one part of the motorcycle driver license exam here in Turkey.
thats all false. first thing is that the figure eight is much smaller on official course, second thing is when you ride any kind of bike on the street you never move your butt across the seat like in this video. that’s wrong. i’m telling this because i am a new rider and pass the course ok. i did it in my country. but what is this guy teaching is very wrong. the only right thing is when he said you look at the cones, that is exactly. when you do this practice you look the cones all the time. and how to use handles the right way: position your bike that way you are looking the cones on your left, starting practice at a complete stop, next step is to put in first gear only to bikes with high tourqe, otherwise can do also in a second gear, you are ridind and passing in straight line first cone by passing second cone starting with sharp turn to the left, you are looking down the cone 1 meter away from you, at the midle of cones straighten the bike up preparing to sharp turn right, again lookng straight down into cone, lookin nowhere else but just the cone. when you ride between the cones you leave the throtle alone, and the clutch alone, the bike is gone drive you. and ofcourse you do not switching position on the seat, thats ridicilous. the point of this exercise is to learn how to handle the bike in very thight little places. and one more thing you can not fall with the bike that way i describe. if i didn’t fall, nobody will, unless if you pull a clutch then you are not gonna be happy. good luck
Thank you so much. Using your counter balance technique that you explained so well in this clip, with throttle control of course, I managed to learn and pass the figure of 8 exercise and my full driving test eventually. Greetings from Croatia.
Thanks Marc. Being a rider I like your analogy. And trying to get stronger for that sport. Among other things.
I found it more intimidating with full size cones practising for my module 1 in the UK.
Thanks a million this was a great help for me and with lots of practice I am mastering this slowly:)
Wtf lol you aren’t even in a box let alone doing it within the boundaries of one
One thing I am discovering, and I don’t know whether it’s old BMX habits or not, but sitting back in the seat/leaning back on the bike seems to help get rid of that unstable feeling in the bars. Might just be me!
You can do that with your foot? You don’t have to keep it planed on your footrest?
Thanks bro for the technique you thought on the video to make it balance
I can’t get my bike to turn sharply… my throttle accidentally moves as I do turns…. any ideas? please help. I went to turn earlier and it was a wide turn and i got the front tire into the mud on the side of my road…
How can i get to the lot if i live in the woods and no transportation im 15
Over here in the UK, they don’t teach counter-weight technique for this test, its all about rear brake, the friction zone, and looking where you intend to go. Its also about being smooth and keeping an even speed throughout. I think it’s great that you are covering the Mods from the UK!!!
I can across a great compilation of videos that may help you at Magic Tactic Formula
THIS IS GOOD ADVICE!!! When I got my first motorcycle I immediately noticed that I was having trouble turning slow&sharp at intersections, so I did exactly this with sidewalk chalk and IT TOTALLY HELPED! I’d highly recommend anyone to do this routine.
Also I noticed that I had more trouble turning left than turning right for some reason, this technique evened that out
I can think about how many times I need a figure 8 in my life while riding my motorcycle. Zero
