The TV dinners are not as unhealthy as being overweight. Get the weight under control by the ez portion control they offer, then in time, shift over to home cooking using the same portions. Btw, one of the biggest knocks on frozen meals is sodium content and lately there’s a debate in the nutrition community over how much sodium is really too much. Some believe we actually do need more than the current 1500 recommended these days. Also, much of our so called “healthful” food is really not all that healthful in the 1st place with all the steroids and hormones the animals are being pumped full of today. Organic you say? That term has been bastardized to the point where it’s basically meaningless these days. Add to that China buying up a lot of major meat processing companies and funneling their own beef and chicken products through them. Good luck trying to truly eat healthfully.

I like lean cuisine because I have a problem where I’ll eat everything I can and I gained 60 lbs in a year! I started lean cuisine and even tho everyone says it’s unhealthy it keeps portions under control for me. I know one plate is enough and that’s it. So far I’ve lost 30 lbs in 6 months:D

Dinner is the most difficult meal for me so having something prepared and tasty (I agree that lean cuisines are really good!) is just so much easier for me. Also I’m a nurse and after 12 hours busting my ass the last thing I feel like doing is making a meal. I feel like I stay more accountable and it keeps me from cheating and overeating since I’m just beginning my weight loss journey. Thank you for this video! You are a badass!

I don’t really like the Smart Ones meals. I find Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice to have better flavor. I’ve had great success before with those two brands and exercise. Great video!!!!

Here’s the deal. Low cal or not, you’ll always feel “clearer” and “better” the more basic your ingredients are. Compare this challenge to Subway. Both are honestly TRASH (and SW is hardly “fresh”), but the ingredient list in a Lean Cuisine is pact of chemicals and preservatives, while with Subway….majority of the ingredients are more natural.
You can have a sandwich at Subway that’s 500 calories, or a Lean Cuisine that’s 500……and yet you feel completely differently. BECAUSE…..our brains and systems operate on FAR MORE than just the caloric/sodium/carb/fat intake the ingredients/chemicals are just as if not more important.
To be clear. I’m far from perfect. If I had my way I’d binge on Taco Bell everyday. I don’t but it would’ve be hard to do!!!

This is really cool seeing other men actually eating Lean Cuisine. Usually you only see women getting those. I was thinking about getting Nutrisystem for men, but that’s $400 a month. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! So I did what you did and got a bunch of different Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones, and Healthy Choice meals. I got a weeks worth for lunches and dinners. Then slim fast shakes for breakfast. It only cost $40. So it would be $160 a month compare to nutrisystem that is $400 a month. Thank you for posting this video.

I usually add a can of rinsed veggies to the lean cuisines and have some fruits or a yogurt with it. My snacks are either 1 serving of nuts and a fruit or protein shake smoothie.

Fyi there was a diet called The Simple Diet back in the day. All you ate were packaged meals and protein shakes. I did it for like 2 weeks. Ended up losing weight but felt AWFUL. I made a YouTube video in like 2011 about it. It was really a thing a real medical Dr. Developed. Dr. Death lol

Great video! I am going to try intermittent fasting, but eat a frozen meal for dinner. I HATE cooking and I don’t see why this would not work. I can add some salad mix in it and make it more filling. I’m hoping this works for me. I have 140 to lose!!! Keto did not work for me, so I really hope this does.
I’ve done this before and lost 20 pds. Very easy to do, since it’s portioned and calories listed. Just add up the calories. I prefer the healthy choice meals. I mainly ate 2 a day and a snack ( and not always a healthy snack) if no snack then I would eat another meal. I also drank apple cide vinegar with a little NO Saltwhich is potassium to help with water weight. These meals tend to be higher in sodium. The Smart Ones are not that great. You would be more satisfied with The healthy choice and lean cuisine because they have higher protein content.

There was actually a diet on E-diets back in the day that incorporated frozen meals but added fruit or a salad or more veggies. Was the best diet ever and you lost weight fast. The portion control was great and the convenience was great. Congrats on the weight loss.

I’ve been trying to find the right approach for me, but like you, I have issues with portion control, even if I happen to cook a healthy meal (there’s always space for more avocado, and that ain’t helping me). I’ve been looking at these other subscription meal delivery options, but they are quite expensive, so I think I will go ahead with some of the microwave meals and add a bag of spinach or something, if I want to keep it “fresh”. And yes, microwave meals have come a long way in terms of flavour and ingredients. I’m stoked to find ones without added sugars and preservatives etc.

Is it the healthiest? No. But if it keeps you under your calorie limit then to your point it’s a toll. I work 80+ hours a week. And if I don’t have them I just go to the nearest Wawa or 7-11. Then 1000 plus calories per sandwich/per visit.
If you’re worried about your sodium. Just drink enough water no flush it out of your system theoretically.
No they won’t kill you however high in sodium which is not good because that then retains weight.

yes girl!!! I eat lean cuisines all the time and it’s SO EASY! I’ll eat a lean cuisine then go to the gym and then have a protein smoothie after. Since lean cuisines don’t really have enough calories, having the smoothie as well (with a shit ton of spinach) gives me enough calories for the night and I’m still getting in a bunch of nutrients.
GIRL YES!!! I am so sick of the internet telling people who eat fast food everyday to do a complete 180 and eat organic kale meal prep all home cooked. Sometimes you have to start where you are and if that means eating frozen food meals instead of going to grab a cheeseburger and that’s fine. I did real Meal Prepping for a month…and it was Exausting at best!! Especially for my mini size kitchen and I have no dining table? You raise great points! Also, I think people forget that sodium is an essential nutrient. We HAVE to have it in order to live! I love frozen meals too, especially the Amy’s ones. They’re kind of pricey, but they’re cheaper than takeout, have good protein and fiber, and taste great.

Definitely, if I get some takeout it would have not only more sodium, but it would be fattening in general. People always say this and I think, do you realize the craziness I could be eating? I cook sometimes, but with prepared meals and even Lean Pockets I will NOT eat a second! The best Lean Pocket is Chicken Jalapeño & Cheese it is seriously an unintentional knockoff for the Starbucks chicken Santa-Fe panini that is sadly discontinued! I cut it open and sprinkle in it McCormacks Roased Garlic and RedPepper seasoning, which is amazing “raw” or cooked into foods…

I love to cook, but I don’t when I am dieting. I cook without recipes and like that freedom. However, on a diet, I hate to weigh and measure and use diet substitutes. If I have to do that, I’d honestly rather just eat Heinz Weight Watcher meals and be done with it. Been doing that for ages now and have lost 41 pounds without changing anything except my evening meal. I know exactly what you mean about the variety you get. I am also a chronic overeater. No leftovers either to tempt me!:)

Personally, I understand that people come in thinking that a lot of microwaved frozen food is bad for you because of either sodium or some radiation paranoia BUT I think that nowadays there are sooo many healthier frozen food options for people to choose from.
Brands like Evol, Luvo, Smartmade and others make better meals that consider calories, sodium, preservatives and whether it’s organic or non gmo.
If I’m gonna use frozen foods to help me lose weight, I’d prefer investing in the higher quality food! It just makes sense.
They use whole fresh ingredients and even give you oven directions so you can avoid the microwave.
I have an overeating problem too and hate leftovers so I don’t meal prep. I probably ate a majority of high quality frozen food for a week or two a few months ago and lost about 10 lbs in that time. I was eating about 1,300-1,500 calories a day between 4-5 meals, 5 days a week.
I think it’s finding a balance. I’m still trying to get there too lol.

A buddy advised me to look for for the diet “sowo hope site” on Google. It has given wonderful results to its users and worked incredibly well for me. In a week, I’ve already dropped 12 lbs.
have you tried the lean cuisine lasagna? I’m eating one right now and it taste just like the more expensive/ worse for you ones from the store but I checked and they have diffrent ingredients! so weird. anyways
Back in 2015 my step mom went on a lean cuisine diet and literally only ate one lean cuisine a day for dinner with a spoonful of cottage cheese for added protein. When I tell you she shrunk, she SHRUNK! She started at about 230lbs and went down to 120lbs! Crazy!! She called them her barf meals XD I tried to do it so many times but I have no self control lol

I’m on the Lean Cuisine/SmartOnes/Healthy Choice diet for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a banana or orange in between. So far, I’m down 15 lbs in 11 days.
People talk shit about the sodium in lean cuisines, but then they turn around and pay $250 a month for Nutrisystem which is mainly frozen food that tastes like cardboard and sadness. My husband signed us up for that a while back and it was immediately canceled LMAO

I was just watching another video before this and the woman was saying that the guide for frozen meals for weight loss is that the Sodium be under 700mg, Saturated fats be below 4g and Fiber at least 4g. She said if the fiber is low but everything else is good, just add either 1 cup of veggies/salad, a yogurt, cup of milk, or a fruit to the meal and you should be fine. It really helped me and now I think I’d just go to the store to get a frozen meal instead of from a fast food restaurant.

Honestly imo the way to losing weight is just cutting out refined sugar, milk and processed food. I’m 116lbs and thriving and I don’t compromise taste cause I’m addicted to food lmao

i totally agree!! i eat a frozen meal every night during the week. they are convenient, portion controlled, and low in calories. meal prepping is just not for me.its not realistic for me and i know i wont stick to doing it. frozen meals have been a huge staple in my weight loss journey.
I absolutely LOVE this!!! As a chronic overeater myself things that are prepared in their serving size have really been helping me too. Plus….I started my weight loss journey at 150lbs overweight and to me….being 150lbs overweight on a 5’1 frame is a HELL of a lot unhealthier than a fucking Lean Cuisine!

You can find vegetables without sodium that are frozen. I always buy frozen veggies with no sodium.
I love lean cuisines! I eat them every night. It’s not laziness it’s cheap, controlled and delicious. I always make a veggie with whatever one I eat. How you gonna make a meal for $2.50?
PREACH! Ive been trying so many diets and they’re either too expensive, restricting or they just make me feel miserable and unmotivated. With frozen meals you can switch it up and theres so many options! just steam some vegetables with it and have a low calorie snack an hour afterwards and you feel so full and satisfied
