Eating healthy is an addiction for me. Don’t make it an addiction
All of the food look nasty to me and I know I dont like the vegetables that are in them. So I hate myself and my body.
This is some great advice! I am currently at the end of a year-long Metabalance program (nutrition with a dietician/exercise with exercise therapists/appts with nutrition, exercise therapy and cardiology PA) through our local hospital and each piece of advice is spot on to what they taught us. Their bottom line is to get rid of the “diet” (all or none) mentality and eat intuitively. Become in tune with your body…it will tell you when you are hungry. Their advice is to eat 80% healthy (they use the MyPlate guidelines and I do as well to a point…I lean more clean eating/plant-based diet which has been a personal choice and is working well for me) and 20% pleasure foods (our culture, as a whole, enjoys eating socially and we need to allow ourselves to do that), drink at least 64oz of water a day and exercise (cardio and strengthening) at least 150 minutes per week. I have lost about 40 pounds so far and my labs have come back to “normal”. My labs were my biggest concern…the weight loss is just a nice added bonus. It is definitely a journey worth travelling!!

I’m crying my eyes out. I needed this. I’m trying to have a healthier lifestyle because diabetes and high blood pressure runs in the family. Plus I have an anxiety disorder. I went to a doctor on Friday and she basically judged me because I’m not fast enough in losing weight (I started a new diet with a Profesional nutritionist, I’m in my 3rd month) and the way she said made me feel so bad, I’ve been in a terrible mood for the last few days. Feeling guilt about what I eat, if I get hungry, watching everything I eat in an unhealthy way. I talked with my nutritionist about this and she calmed me down, but I was still anxious. And watching this just made me burst into tears. Thank you for teaching in such a kind and empathetic way.

You commit to working out more, hit the gym for two days, and then struggle to get off the couch after a long day of work. It’s sad that you blame “being vegan” which you never were for feeling a certain way when you were clearly over exercising and not eating properly. Seeking protein as a vegan is not difficult and you don’t only need to get it from dead animals. It’s not just “well I’ll just do whatever I want cause it’s my body” but you’re advertising as a vegan in videos and titles and misleading girls that go to these videos for advice or help. It’s really disgusting. You should watch Freelee’s video and educate yourself.

I am always disappointed in these so called healthy heart videos. In order to eat healthy for your heart one needs to remember this: no oil (including margarine of any sort), no salt and no dairy! When cooking, instead of using oil use vegetable broth.

2) Get busy; do something that gets you focused on that thing only, occupy your mind.
3) Get active; exercise.
4) Eat lots of fruits and vegetables; be mindful about your nutrition, eat whole foods.

$60 for a weeks worth of food for one person sounds very expensive to me. I’m not on a healthy eating diet as of yet since I’m stuck on what to buy and how to implement it into meals without it being too costly and the amount of money that is spent on food is around £40 -£50 for 2 people which usually lasts around 2 to 3 weeks right now. Thanks for sharing!! When I’m trying to get back on track, I try to eat only whole foods but not really limit my portions on them. Slowly as the days pass, my hunger kind of balances itself and I start eating regular portions again. It just tricks me into thinking I’m not depriving myself.

I think you are wrong.. your body makes 3000 milligrams of cholesterol a day.. if you eat more cholesterol it will make less.. if you eat less cholesterol it will make more…. at least two dozen eggs a week I haven’t got high cholesterol or high blood pressure… problem comes from not eating enough vegetables in your diet.. and not eating the right vegetables.. and not eating the right fats.. Plenty of Fish steamed.. or boiled…

Even with the other lifestyle improvements (quit smoking, exercise, and relieving stress), the reduction in arteries occlusion was minimal. I think we focus too much on diet and often times forget that not addressing all four of the factors create inflammation which in turns causes poor arterial health that leads to heart disease and stroke. The million dollar question is how are we able to do all of the above?
I was a low fat vegan for a few years, but I smoked cigarettes, held 2 relatively stressful jobs, and didn’t get much exercise. I’m looking at heart bypass surgery in three weeks. That’s the reality of my life that I can’t change. I’ve stopped smoking cigarettes and will implement more walking in my daily routines. Unfortunately, I have at least 15 more years of working. Hopefully, doing some of these will give me a better chance at old age. BTW, I am only 48.

Eating healthy is so no ingrained in our brains that is frustrating. It’s like pick a meat, pick a vegetable, pick a fruit, pick a nut. There’s only so much you can do with that

I’m 6 feet and 170lbs, exercise and eat a lot of fruits/veggies, fiber, low fat dairy and lean meat. And very little sugar. Believe It or not I still have marginally bad cholesterol and blood pressure. However, last year I was at camp and had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, ice cream and sodas all week. By the spokesman end of the week I wasn’t feeling right, and a couple of nights I suddenly woke up and couldn’t breath for a number seconds with my heart racing, scary as hell. I guess I should always stick to my diet.

I was pleased to see these doctors give very good advice. I started my diet. I workout everyday i’m extremely cut. Like i look like a personal trainer. Now i only eat fish, veggies, and lean meat. Rarely sugar, but def no candy! Minimal salt. like maybe 200mg of it a day.. maybe less…I shredded 20 pounds in a month.

A good tip I do, is ask, would I feed that to my pet? If not then I wont eat it. We tend to take better care of out pets 😉

if you don’t have a farmer’s market near you, buy frozen vegetables, their cheap and their is research showing, that often frozen veggies have more vitamins in them because they freeze them right after they harvest them, trapping in the vitamins,instead of the veggies slowly depleting their vitamin content while sitting on the shelf.
