I think you aren’t quite right on the sliding part. The reason why the foot slides down is that both the hip is stiff (knee pointing forward not sideways) and there is not enough dorsiflexion in the foot. When the foot is deeply dorsiflexed like yours and the knee is hanging far below it, the force from the weight of the bent leg is directed like a wedge into the thigh there is hardly any need for active pushing inwards. But if you’re stiff, it’s directed downwards. So the sliding down is not so much relate to technique, but simply due to lack of flexibility (based on my experience as someone who used to lack flexibility in both hips and feet).
