We bring awareness to these areas in order to control.
Jalandhara bandha temporarily prevents prana from moving up, while Mula bandha blocks the downward movement of energy and pulls it back towards the navel region. When both are engaged at the same time, it’s like two sticks being rubbed together – with the application of the stomach lock as well, magnifying it to produce the fire of heat. How to practice Uddiyana Bandha: Inhale into the body and fully exhale Hold the out breath Then with a straight spine, pull the belly in toward the spinal column but do not release the breath. The throat lock (or chin lock) restricts the upward flow of energy. The name comes from the Sanskrit, jal meaning “throat,” dharan, meaning “stream,” and bandha, meaning “lock.” It is performed by extending the neck while lifting the heart, then dropping the chin to the chest. The tongue presses into the roof of the mouth.
Jalandhara Bandhais practiced by bending the head forward and pressing the chin against the throat in the gap between the collar bones. Can you please explain about the yogic aspect of this practice?
Thank you for the video. I have a question. Can we do Maha Bandha in fullness of breath like you did in emptiness of breath?
is this done with inhalation and holding breathe inside too?
I noticed I have shallow breathing, and realized that working on heart chakra and throat chakra helps to feel better.

Haha.jpt gare rako xa…he do different from remaining yogies
This is the best demonstration of the Jalandhara Bandha I’ve seen so far. Too many videos on YouTube show people bending their chins all the way to their collar bones, and as a result the upper section of the spine is curved, or worse the entire spine is curved. The importance of keeping the spine straight should be common knowledge.
Great vid
I’ve seen a few on this exercise and yours is very informative
Very good, wonderful explanation and very clear, pointing out where the breath move.
Thank you for such a clear explanation! I now understand this bandha. Appreciative.

I found this short class very helpful. My question is: When you visualize the spiral do you visualize it in the neck or in the head? If in the head, which part of the head, the back, the front, or in the whole head. If you visualize the spiral in the neck, do you visualize it at the base of the skull, in the front at the throat, or in the entire neck. Thank you in anticipation of your reply.
In the Vase breath of Naropas tibetan Yoga techniques, something similar is done, but after inhalation. after the locks, during exhalation the energy is said to rise in the sushumna. i want to use bandhas specially for spiritual progress. can you share your experiences about the impact Bandhas have had on your spititual practice.
I feel this particular breathing is not for doing just watching you. Will have to take class with you.
