Mountain climbers are a great, functional core movement for swimmers to add to their dryland training arsenal. This exercise is a progression of the traditional plank, adding in alternating knee drives to help you continue building core stability. There’s too many ways to do this exercise… This is just one. It’s way easier than the way I do them. Great execution and beautiful physique, but way easier than want I consider the “Mountain Climber” exercise.

Nick spot on. one of my favorite ways to do this exercise is by using valslide or furniture movers. this keeps the hips in the same spot and is easy for beginners to grasp the concept. Joe Daniels

It gets easier and easier as I do them!! TY 4 showing the correct form. At 288 lbs it was ALL I could do to take a few steps!! At 160ish just did 10 of these. If you’re trying to get healthy,, go for it!! Oh, I’m not young.

If your gym has a floor that looks like basketball court material get some paper towels and put one each on both shoes and just slide your feet up. You don’t have to work about lifting your feet up just focus on bringing your knees up.

I under estimated this exercises until I did it for an AMRAP and time it kicked my fucking ass. Now I added to my routine and I can see a hell of a difference in my physique!
My personal trainer had me do a “tabata” of mountain climbers this morning 20 seconds, followed by a 10 second rest, and another 20 seconds. 8 repetitions in total I was working up a sweat by the end!

there’s nothing inherently wrong with speeding up the pace if you have correct form…
Works pretty much all of the lower body while using push muscles for stabilisation I do these after burpees at the end of a HIIT round bloody agonising but of course thats a good thing

Actually the military does real mountain climbers and how he is showing is incorrect. real mountain climbers you alternate with feet touching the ground and you do make contact. The way he showed is easier than the other way.
I am a south Indian guy, actually so many of in YouTube I caught they quit bodybuilding, but… buff dudes are doing bodybuilding with fun, I think that was the secret of their gains. keep going dudes, play with perfect and fun:)

Would it be possible for you to do a video on the best exercises to recover from injuries? I dislocated my shoulder and it’s going to take a long time for me to get most of my strength back so it would be useful to know anything I can do to speed up recovery and come back stronger

I do these all the time. They are really good. Sometimes during the workout I will even go lower into a slightly descended push-up position and continue the mountain climber. More pressure on the arms and it tightens the core more.
