Personal opinion here, unless your showering in the locker room or at the beach/pool men should not wear sandals. I especially ditest those brown sandals that Dave Matthews fans wear.
You guys should do a diet and exercise video. Honesty. It seems to be a taboo topic to offer advice, however, there is few other items more important than diet and exercise. @gentleman’s gazette
Men should never wear sandals. Not only do they look ridiculous, no one wants to look at your feet. There are plenty of alternatives for casual summer shoes, such as loafers, driving shoes, boat shoes, espadrilles, etc… I would discourage every man from wearing them even at the beach, but wearing them at any other public place should be a felony.
The “most dangerous” footwear? No way. I’ve worn flip flops 6 months out of the year since I was 13 (20 years). I have WAY fewer foot/ankle issues than any other woman I know. I attribute it to the fact that my flip flops (usually reefs or tevas, so good quality ones) do not have any heel height whatsoever, and very cushioning foam support. Natural gait, zero-drop footwear. Second best to barefoot! Let’s talk about 4″ cork wedges or stilletos. Come on.
Pantyhose caused more problems over the years than flip flops ever caused:yeast infections, vaginitis, cervical and breast cancer from breakdown of the chemicals in the nylon being absorbed through the skin.
i see more more guys wearing crocs than fisherman sandals they are never cheap for guys
hi and thank you, my taste may b rare, but i like seeing socks in sandals and your example 10:56 didnt look bad to me. well, i m german… good advices though. best regards
9.15m…..fisherman’s sandals,sorry,but despite their price,is something for me,of a very bad taste.
Especially when you wear them with socks.
Sportive flip flops are sexier.
It doesn’t help that the vast majority of men do not groom their feet and even if they do, men in sandals is simply an atrocious look.
There are so many brands of men’s sandals out there these days that have very good structure, quality materials and arch support that you can wear almost anywhere when it’s very hot outside such as Spiaggia Libera, Colorado, Rockport etc
I knew something was familiar about you and when you said you are brazilian it made sense.
My wife is brazilian and we are stuck here during this quarantine and I agree I won’t wear sandals even in the heat here I do wear huarache shoes/sandals that’s as much as I’ll compromise
I live in Texas. So I wear sandles and shorts 9 months out of the year. Olukai has many classy sandles that are quality, don’t break the bank ($500 for your example ) and are very comfortable. Reef is your go-to for cheap but good sandles.
You know feet need air so if you got gross feet expose them basterds
Happened to me,wore flat sandals at work a few years ago all through summer, come the colder weather and the pain when I swapped back into shoes Luckily I have a pair of MBT shoes for work and within a couple of weeks my plantar fasciitis was history! Now I only wear Birkenstock’s in the summer, best ever and recommended by the experts,as opposed to Crocs, worst footwear ever, and ugly to boot!
What is wrong with hairy toes?
Fisherman sandals is what my mother would threaten me to wear as a teenager. I HATED them and still do.
Lot’s of idiosyncratic factors here, in South America and Europe they are worn every time. Thumbs up for the Huaraches; the Espadrilles/cocuizas/alpargatas can be very stylish and exotic, Italians have great taste for them and use them all the time, it’s a “Latino” thing.
In sweden basicly everyone does this:
May to august = t-shirt, shorts, sandals or rainclothes… some years u need jacket and long pants too but not every year.
September to april = veeeeryyyyy muuuch clothes and boots.
In my case… if i should not wear dress shoes, boots or sport shoes i have to wear sandals.
I can’t wear shoes that you not tie or in some way tighten. I can’t wear loafers, espandrillos or shoes in similar ways.. boat shoes i can’t wear either actually. But the key for me is that you tie or tighen the shoes/sandals in any way
Fun fact: Ancient Rome soldiers wore sandals with socks! (socks was made out of wool using one knitting needle way of knitting. Have a pair from reenactors, it is VERY durable, no holes for almost 2.5 years)
If you ever have a foot issue like athletes foot an attractive and well supporting sandal is the only way to go. If I have to be outside for a long time in direct scorching sunlight I wouldn’t care what anyone thought. I’d want my feet to remain cool and breathe. In a shoe your foot is in the dark. I’m not big on flip flops at all though.
My bro! This was a super dope and informative video! So i probably do this a lot because i wear Nike flip flops all the time. So i should probably stop this. Would you recommend Birkenstocks?
Dear God, those pictures of men’s feet will haunt my nightmares for weeks. Are those human feet?
Have you looked at mohinders shoes? I have a pair of the original water buffalo woven set which are great going on holiday in warmer climate for casual events (wither it be the beach or walking along the seaside on a pair of jeans/linen trousers), agree on no socks with them or if you have to the dark ankle socks
I hope those aren’t your feet in the video. If so. My condolences.
I hope some company who makes soft sandals so it won’t hurt that much when my mom hits me
Here in South Africa it is sunny most of the year and in summer men do wear sandals, but men here only wear them with shorts or jeans if they wear sandals away from the beach. As an Italian I find it quite strange to see men with sandals and socks, as many German tourists wear them, and we think it looks funny. Definitely no sandals with trousers apart from jeans!
I have a pair if sandels purely for things like runnning the garbage out, picking up a delivery, or for showering at the gym.
So Sexist to say that women have “pretty” feet and men do not….these days many men have very nice looking feet and some women have feet that do not look nice…it depends on the feet…NOT the gender of the person. What a ridiculous judgement. Also there is nothing “wrong” if a guy has some hair on his feet….they are Men.
I love your videos, but I do not understand your animosity towards sandals. You look great in all of them! (not talking about slippers and flip-flops here.) I think that if you wear nice leather sandals in the city with shorts or summer pans and a polo or casual shirt, it looks great and is very appropriate in days when it gets over 30 Celcius.
I have a beautiful pair of dark brown leather sandals from Ralph. They are beautifully made with a stacked leather heel. I wear them near the water or when it’s 90 degrees or above. They look good with flat front shorts and a t-shirt. Simple.
Please slow down your talk and talk one by one because we are your fan from oversea cant catch it….we feel little dificult to understand…please we love your chanel
There are many different types of sandals not covered here for time reasons I’m sure, but what about Tevas? They are much more supportive and fashion aware.
Sir, I am from India. Here, the kurta pajama dress looks good with sandals. Can you please check that out, thanks.
I grew up in Hawaii sandals were standard, but even there when you go outside the beach or neighborhood you were close toe shoes. As a proper gentleman outside of the above listed places sandals are never acceptable in my opinion
Flip flops are the best get a life I have 5 pairs of havianas nothing else
with no-arch support flip flops you can get flat foot (meaning that curve on your foot will be gone). i wear rainbow sandals so its good.
In Philippines we call them tsinelas which is quite similar to Brazil
Omg i was wearing flip flops and i scraped my toe across the ground now its bleeding omg its so bad
This is why you wear olukai, reef fanning, rainbow and sanuk sandals, these sandals/ sandal brands give you the best arch support, my favorite is either the olukai or the reef fanning.
You covered the topics a lot better than most of YouTubers out there who will just full blown hating on sandals so hard it should be flagged as hate-speech.
Also, I think cultural background plays quite a lot. There are countries which formal traditional wears would be look as good even if it worn with leather sandals.
I’ve been wearing flip flops for over 30 years and my feet and back still feel great. I Other than a little chaffing when breaking in a new pair, I’ve had no real ill effects. And to think I’ve been putting myself in some emanate danger all this time. It’s a miracle I’m still here….. AMAZING!
No one should wear Birkies. Ever. Flip flops are awesome. Very few men can pull off sandals. I say this, living in a beach town. If you are a man, questioning whether or not you can wear sandals, the answer is no! If you could rock sandals you would not have to ask the question. If you have somehow convinced yourself that you are the one man of a thousand who can wear sandals, do NOT wear them with socks! Man sandals are hideous enough, socks and sandals make the look even worse. Wearing them is inviting others to make fun of, and beat you up.
Flip flops are not the problem. It’s the fact that most people (at least in the U.S.) have weak feet, poor balance, and are overweight.
If you need an arch support under your arch then your arch is weak. I have strong feet and can play tennis and run in flip flops (Havaianas) with no problems at all.
In Florida, we wear sandals with dress shorts n shirts as a common trait.Speciallyif living coastal.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but my answer is No. The only time I will use open footwear of any kind is at the beach, at the pool, or at home in private.
I am from Rio de Janeiro and people wear sandals anytime, it’s just boring. I much prefer a pair of loafers or boat shoes.
Flip flops are so comfortable foot wears.I can’t believe these can be dangerous!
i think you should get a haircut. it looks messy.
and NO to sandals, slippers, open footwear
‘
flip flops shoes and sandals shoes are more safety plus good healthly…
2 high WTC WTC heels soles shoes are tooo dangerous, not good healthly, too much pressure, too ugly, very pain foots, arrow foots
I say no for sandals if you wanna look good. U covered it all. But those who doesn’t wanna look good and doesn’t care. Then they can wear em. They need to take good care of em feet too. No matter what. Lol I wear em here in ARIZONA. It’s hot. I don’t do thongs sandals though.
This past weekend, the wife and I had a staycation in West Los Angeles
At the high-end hotel we were staying at, there was obviously a wedding on Saturday. I witnessed a wedding attendee wearing a black bow tie and suit to match…
… wearing flip-flops.
Makes my teeth itch.
I definitely wasn’t ready for images coming my way in this video
Cultural context is important! While I agree with you in general, pachuco huaraches are really snappy with a guayabera and linen trousers. Espadrilles in Texas seem to shout “I’m pretending to be a New Englander!” I’d feel the same about someone from New Jersey wearing cowboy boots.
Humans are impressive.. all of these invintions for easier life.
If you live in Tropical countries, you would know why Sandals are the big deal. People in the middle east, whole of Asia, Hawaii, Pacific, Africa, etc wear sandals. Off course we know when to wear them…
Here in Malaysia, sandals like flip flops is the official go-to shoes since it’s so hot here.
My Rules:
1 Never wear sandals outside beach or your own house (when guests are not around)
2 If you have to wear sandals, for god sake, do not put socks!
no human foot, even of the most beautyful women, are as wonderful as good made shoes, so, no sandals!
I wear sandals occasionally because I live in a tropical island in Japan so it’s a common look out here. But nonetheless, I saw someone the other day with a button up, gold watch, dark blue jeans and….. sandals. Way to just throw your entire look away lol
Girls = nice feet with cute little toes
Men gnarly feet with nasty hairy toes
Those Fisherman’s sandals are completely fine and great sockless with shorts. A more classic and classy option than most others. I can’t even understand why there is any debate about it on a channel for classic clothes like this. Will set you apart from all the others wearing flip flops, sliders etc
But t straps are only type of shoes that give grip to my flat feet
flip flops are shit to walk in and provide no protection for your toes if you catch them… I’d rather go bare foot than wear flip flops… there’s a much lower chance you’ll hurt your self! in my opinion flip flops are like massive tumors on your feet that catch on any seams there may be on the pavement
Oh Raphael, If you ever visit Australia you will have a heart attack, LOL Flipflops, and sandals are the normal. It must be the climate I guess. They are however useless against snake bite. Actually now that I think about it you may not want to visit Australia,LOL
As a woman, I agree with Rahael, It is not a good look I can’t go anywhere without seeing men in baggy cargo shorts and rubber flip flops it’s so unattractive. I hate to say this but often enough they’re accompanied by women that don’t care about their appearance either
I think flip flops are an agenda. Probably more ppl fall, break bones, stump their toes, etc. wearing these ridiculous things. I’m done with them.
I don’t like to wear shoes. My bare feet are the best shoes in the world. I’m barefoot hiker.
But, unfortunately, working in a hospital, I must go in flip-flops. The dirty soles are not see good with the white coat…:(
Love my Doc Marten “Charro Brando” sandals and constantly get complements when I sport them. They are not your typical sandal and are still very boot-like.
Howdie gentle, if got a lil Q for u?
In ma g-hood we got some epic hardcore gangsters, these G’s wearin’ buffalos with tiny jeans and a smoking?
Is that an idea of your channel or wth is going on in my hood?
I live in Pakistan, Whenever It Rains We Have Knee deep water on our roads, so we wear flip flops or sandals with shorts or casual trousers. Secondly our summers are very very hot and Most likely during day in casual environment when u r grocery shopping or lounging we wear sandals instead of shoes Because shoes are impractical options in these scenarios. Other than these times we wear shoes.
I still will never figure this out. Especially for women. They are obsessed over wearing flip flop type shoes. I think they think it makes their feet look sexy. Guess it’s because I work in the health care field. Do people realize how much bacteria and viruses are living on their sexy feet when they wear these “coverings” all day long? It is totally discusting. Their feet live within 1/4 inch of some of the worst bacteria in the world. Look at their shoes next time. Does it make you want to touch them? I would come within 20 feet of their feet. Nasty. They should know better and wear full shoes.
I always wear my suicoke sandals with socks and them looks so good ❤️
LOL never socks with shorts unless you play soccer or live in a retirement village in Florida! Huaraches knew they were there but kinda in the back of my mind until you mentioned. Maybe not gentlemanly but sounds good for the back porch, grilling, riding the lawn tractor on a hot humid day. Surely more protection than the current “cap-toe? ” leather sandal I occasionally wear now.
Hard headed people will not listen. I wear shoes and socks year round even around the house. Shoes with good breathability and comfort are the key. Kids should wear sneakers and socks also. The sweaty feet they may have are worth benefits.
The only outfit that looks better with sandals is the Lorica Segmentata.
4:47 M/S Star Pisces, originally M/S Viking Kalypso built in Finland it was a regular here on Åland until 1991
Flip flops are for wet situations. pools, public showers, beaches.
I worship men’s FEET on a somewhat regularly basis and never been sick from it. its my For tay FEETISH so to speak!lol . ;-).
Are Crocs bad for your feet? I’m talking about the classic clogs.
As usual, you are so well informed….thanks much…were those vivobarefoot sandals?
Very intriguing! Never thought of them doing damage, but I will say that I’ve never worn them other than for shower shoes.
Would love to read any articles of research you’ve gone through to further know more about this subject.
Great job on the video.
In my opinion fisherman’s sandals look very unappealing and make you look old, but not in a good way. I’d rather follow your philosophy and go to the roots of the sandal and pick gladiator sandals
I’ve never been called dapper while wearing sandals.
I vote “no” to sandals unless your at the beach or poolside or on a boat
Thank you, brother for all the tips on foot health!!! You’ve been a big help!
