I started running in July. I did a 10k in 54.05.
Two weeks ago i did a 10k non-competitive race:
I took 44.14 with a 21.48 split in the final 5k. Of course it’s not an amazing time, but i’m happy with my improvements ❤
Im new in running and most of what you said I experience. Thanks for the e info.
I liked this video before the piano intro was even over with!
when you realise 13 year old boys world record is better than the women olympians
Thankyou Holly. Great for beginners and runners of all ages and experience who may think their training is getting nowhere in terms of fitness.
Very clear and concise. Thanks. 60 years old, doing my second 10 K race this weekend. Hoping to beat my PB of 60 min. Have never tried to “find my pace” so will work on this after the weekend. Update: ran a 49:22. Happy.
Having a man bun made you produce too much estrogen. You probably could have ran a minute faster without it.
My goal for 2020: break the pain cave 18 minutes. After 35, two kids, lots of real life, I can still run hard, fast and nail it consistently. I’m so proud of that because it is hard to maintain, hard to stay motivated sometimes and it can be hard to make time to train and lift and run and stay injury free as you age. Props to all of you starting and all of you still going!
I’m 14 from Portugal, I have 2.05 at 800, 4.40 at mile, he is not so good that he looks like, he is a good runner but keep calm…
In 4.5 years of running, I’ve yet to be able to talk during a run. I do believe I run too fast because my runs oftentimes, kill me. However, I don’t want to lollygag around town because I feel like I won’t burn the calories. Is this a myth? Thank you!
When racing in the town it gives me less than a minute. How did you get so much time?
thanks for keeping it simple. I hate when I click on a video and the person gotta talk for 5 minutes before they start running. I came here to watch people run and not hear about the macronutrients in your breakfast smoothie.
You’re one of those boys who improved a lot! Keep up the great work!
But congrats for your race by the way…Theorically, I’m 2’30 behind…
My pb is 25 mins 5k. Can I achieve a sub 22 in 2 and a half months?
I’m entering my 8th grade year soon and I’m training for under a 5:10 and a 18 minute 5k and I started taking running seriously a few months ago so seeing that someone my age can run this really makes me want to continue pushing it
congrats man!..when i was 19 i had ran 800m in 2 min and 1500 in 4.12….now im almost 26 and play football….very good race man keep working and i think you break the 15 min 5 km with runners with same level like you!…respect from greece!
Just ran my first 10k, got 55:31 which is better than I expected as I’ve only been running for the last four months and not every consistently. I’m training for two 10k’s over the summer then a half marathon in the fall. And eventually a full marathon!! My end goal is to run ultra marathons because traversing 50 miles in a day is just crazy and so cool.
I got injured now I’m starting again and I’m running way too fast
I was wondering, what time of day did you find the rabbit there?
Im sub 18 in 5000m also, hope hellagood notice me.
❤Philippines
I do 5km every saturday. My best time is 30min::::(((( I’m still proud tho XD
Its too weird to ask for music name.
But i want to know. Pls
Poor Sage, I really hope your next night’s sleep will be better!
Coach Holly, thanks for another great video, informative and helpful as always. Hope you had a nice Christmas ⛄️
Subscriber and bell hitter here. Question: How do I keep a specific pace? Let’s say 12 min. Per mile. I can do that pace for a long time without issues, however I find myself looking at my watch too often and keep adjusting. Thanks and great clips you guys are putting out.
The same ppl that call Xc easy are the same ppl w 10 min miles
One topic i think you should do a video on is how to take care of your feet. I’ve recently lost a tone nail and i’d like to advice on what to do to avoid issues like this.
My 5k time = 25:16 lol. BTW, started running 2 months back and trying to improve myself. Any tips for me?
Mid 30s myself not in the best shape been running for a year and my 5k is a 31.34 it’s not as easy as it looks
Love the Intro Sage. Love your honesty. Love the Tips. Love Everything about your videos. Thanks for everything.
Thank you. This was really helpful. As a new runner following a workout plan with different types of runs during the week, I was feeling really down on myself for being out of breath and feeling like I was struggling. So to see you not able to hold a full sentence during some runs really put it all into perspective for me. Cheers!
Good video. I which I saw this a year ago. I have been doing tempo run and fartlek run, could not increase my speed. Will do some interval training this year and see if it helps.
My 10k PB is 54″10. Trying to bring it down to 52″ in my next race in 20 days. Thank you for the tips coach! BTW what is your 10k PB?:)
How does one get the rabbit to appear? You show it sitting there as if it was always by the raccoon den!
What are your thoughts about bare foot running? So people say it’s the best? I personally wear running shoes
I only started running last yr (my freshman yr). My PR last year was a 18:22. I can only imagine if I’ve started earlier, I just couldn’t, wasn’t allowed to and the time I was into soccer and haven’t even heard of XC or track until middle school. I could be so much faster.
Doing my first 10k this morning. The Turkey Trot. Thanks for the tips.
Tomorrow I have 10k run…so came here to know the Technic without practicing ha ha ha ha
It took me a while to figure these zones out. But basically what she is saying there is a good guide. If you have a heart rate monitor and a watch reading it, you may find those zones in your watch. The aerobic zone or below is where you can run/jog and talk. The threshold running is normally the zone with that name, some watches have it orange, some call it zone 4. And the interval running is the hardest one, it is the red zone in your watch, some call it zone 5, some others call it anaerobic zone. Depends on the brand. Anyway, hope that helps.
if i have no experience i’d stick with any one with pace watch
One of the smoothest running form i watched. That form avoids injuries
I was 105 kg around 3 months back
Now I am at 80 kg
And can easily run 5k in 31 min
Hopefully I’ll improve
I’m most likely running mine alone, I’m the fastest, but it’s a small town, so that’s not saying much lol
Epic Intro that was! Good luck is Houston. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for good marathon weather!
Hi Sage! In one of your future training talk can you cover the impact of heart rate drift when you train in a specific heart rate zone? Do you have to reduce your effort to stay within your zone or do you just ignore the slow HR increase over time? Good luck again for your Marathon next Sunday in Houston.
this is super helpful because I have a lot of trouble with pace, didn’t know It mattered that much. O and holly those arms are life.
10k in 40mins? That’s 1km every 4mins, am I tripping or is that really fast?
It said I have to pay for the game now and I can’t see and play with all the cool new updates
Did you have to pay for it?
The first Mystery thing with duck is daily board from town hall on b1 it’s Above all time books
Great video sage, you can really see you have a real passion for the sport
I want know that who is better in track a tallest person or shower person
Hi can you help my 5 k is 19minutes 20 and my half marathon is 142 what would you say my tempo pace be thanks
I’m a 14 year old guy, running a 10k tomorrow (flat course). Hope to run a sub 42:53 which is sub 6:55 pace. My 5k time (cross country) is 19:13 (kind-of hilly) which is 6:12 pace. Do you think 42:53 is a good goal?
Would be interested to hear more on your point about the 1km repeats. Will running repeats between v02 max and all out have no benefit at all? Interesting vid as ever!
I love running too.I would like to run with you one day Hellah.you are an amazing person with a great personality.Love you Hellah❤
DO you think smoking cannabis every few days can affect lung performance?
Thanks TRE for all your videos over the last 6 months. I did long runs (8-10 miles), tempo runs, and interval runs. I utilized your strength training videos. I watched and implemented your running drill videos. Back in May, Before I discovered your channel, I ran a 5k in 25:25. After implementing your videos over the last six months, today I ran a 5k in 21:12, shaving over 4 minutes off my PB. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas !
13 years old 17 minutes. Wow! Keep it up kid! Dont overdo the miles! That kills young runners!
You need to find your natural pace having at least a 100-200 mile base. At least a 10 minuet pace, or pick a different sport because you’re a loser and probably a fat ass. (the handicap don’t count)
i have a 10 k colour run on suday two days times and i cant run im very slow any tips for me its not a race but still
Thanks again for your very useful tips, Sage. If one, like myself, is not an elite runner and has to run in the middle of a bulk of hundreds or even thousands other runners, he has also to take into consideration probably not to be able to run along the ideal (shortest) line and/or to be caged among other even slower runners. So the finishing time will possibly be higher than what would have been possible. E.g. I have run my current half marathon PR during a training session not in a race.
That is a really fast time my best in high school xc was only 17:45
I finally got the rabbit to show up! I am on race 12 and since I started a new round, I’m not working at the Corp, but that’s where the bunny is. The doors are locked. What should I do?
The beat at the beginning is actually stolen from Mexican artist Vicente Fernandez “Para Siempre”
Good tips bro. I’m running my first 10k in 2 weeks. Feeling good about it, I know I’ll have to grind through but I’m definitely going to plan for it. My only other race was a 5k in 25min
Thank you, This morning I finished my first 10 km race this year! It certainly helped to have a strategy before going into this race.
I bet that his parents whipped him to start running at five and literally had no childhood.
I prefer the older intro, where theres three of you playing the guitar.
my weight 238 lbs, time 26:50 5k, test de cooper 2450 meters.
Hi, I just recieved a message that this saturday is a 10k run and I have only some days to prepare. I dont care about hard workout or prices but at least I dont want to give up. Can you help me? 1000 times thanks who can help me!
Can someone please help me I’ve been doing a bit of investigating about runners weight I stand about 5 ft 8 so what would be the perfect race weight for me to be? I’m a 5K & 10K but mostly I’m doing half marathons
Tia
why do all young runners listen to such garbage music? fuck me.
Hello RE!
I just thought this might be informative to some guys.
When I warm up on hot days I am right away 90% HR so I am actually cooling down before race 20-30 minutes walking jogging till 60% HR and thats when I can do something further on.
Thanks for the tips, brother. Have started the year training for a half in a few months, clocked my 10k at 44:38 on a cool 10 mile distance run through hills. Expecting to break 38
Any advice with running with asthma I get out of breath very quickly
my best time in half marathon is 1h16
10k in 33min
5k in 15min30
volume 100km/ 120km @week
I joined track about 4 weeks ago, my coach gets mad at me because I still haven’t found my pace yet. Hope this helps me.
Really cool you recorded the whole race. In my area there are quite a few 15 minute guys around, they are like aliens. I’m down to 17:36 and it took me eight years to get here. Trying to catch up!
my top tip dont miss the start of the race! ive missed 4 race starts already!
19:57!? Looking at your body and also at your running technique, I’d have guessed you ran a 5K in like 16-17 min. I ran a 19:47 5K a couple of weeks ago, and my PR is 19:11 (I’m 32 years old). I’m actually trying to get it sub 19 min.
I was hoping you might offer your thoughts on the “pose” type running style where they promote picking/pulling your foot off the ground. It seems to me like pushing off with your back foot is an essential part of generating speed at lower energy costs… Thanks for the videos Sage, it’s great to hear from someone actually running at the top level and not just talking about it.
Some people don’t realize how fast this kid is. I am 13 and I ran at xc nationals last year and got 39th in the country okay? But I am going 5:50 for a mile PR while this kid is 5:10. A girl on my team in going sub 5 at 13. This kid would be all american.
Always look forward to the marathon videos, Sage. Thanks for doing what you do. Best of luck in Houston!
Hi Sage, what do you think about running with power(meter?) and is it worth to give it a go? Also how to incorporate it to your existing training plan that is based on running to pace?
Cheers, from Croatia!
I´m running a pretty flat 10k race this weekend. The same race last year i got 44:41 but i didn´t warm up proper! Gonna try out your tips!
I’m glad to see TRE address the different run types and the concept of Perceived Effort. This is a great help to a lot of runners.
Dude is going to be one of those guys in high school running 14:15 in the 5k
Pace is 90 per minute and speed is regulated by forward body lean. That is efficiency. 90 steps on left or right foot per minute or 180 steps per minute total steps for both feet. Eliud kipchoge attempt to break 2 hr marathon barrier was 23 seconds short. He maintained his pace of 180 steps per minute plus or minus all the way to the end. Learn to run at the proper pace to avoid injury. Adjust speed by forward body lean not pace. Then work on fitness. Go elsewhere on YouTube for proper running form, eliud kipchoge, Halle gabresilesie, katelyn tuohy, usain bolt. All run at around 180. The only difference is their forward lean.
I’m just curious as to why you seem to be the only one without the rabbit glitch?
I have no idea who you are. YouTube just brought me to your video and I watched you run for 15 minutes.
I just found out my “race buddy”…after 2 seasons of 5ks…..who I don’t feel right unless he’s 20+ yards ahead of me…is also my state senator! Had no idea until he gave a speech at the last race…that’s public service!
I want to know that who is better in track to get 1st a tall person or short person, please
thanks for that.. should i get lactic acid buildup in my legs in my tempo runs? I haven’t done any races yet, but have been running for a few weeks by now, and thanks to my watch can tell the exact pace at which i get lactic acid buildup in my legs.. i can then lower the pace a little to “recover” a bit and then raise it a little to get back into the lactic acid build-up zone.. should i be just below this point, or is this too fast? (most trainings i do are between 5K and 10K distance, but i plan to start doing longer runs now, but obviously at an easy pace)
Lot of hamstring in that stride, work on the quads and you will see 13
Why did this have to turn into a Nike commercial—? You ruined it…someone responsible please explain to this kid that children younger than him are putting together his shoes in far away places at minuscule wages
Is that Lucid Dreams Instumental I hear? In the titles of the races
Me: Sees my friend blow by
also me:
Increases speed and then dies
Sage, i want your opinion on how much milage an ironman triathlete needs to peak for a 3 hour marathon during an ironman? taking into account all the bike/swim training how much running is needed?
I’m a type 2 diabetic and I was wondering what kind of food I should be eating and how long before the race I should stop eating to keep my sugar level up for the race. I’ve ran longer distance but not in a race and I do take GU with me and some times I forget and end up walking the last mile or two. 5k’s are no problem I’m trying to work my way up to a 100 mile run if I’m able. To tell you the truth all I want to do is run but now that I’m older 54 I need to lose some weight like 20 pounds I know I can lose the weight I’m just worried on how to manage my sugar level in a race without having to stop to many times to check my sugar and make sure that I have the right foods and drinks so my sugar don’t get to low. I don’t know to many runners here in Saginaw, Michigan and if they do run their not into running to much. I want to thank you for taking the time to read letter. Azrunnerinmi63
I have a 10km race on June 16, My Lactate Threshold and Vo2Max are improving. Thanks to your helpful videos on how to improve speed.
I looked at this and I was like omg. It doesn’t matter if he’s thirteen. He’s gonna stop peaking some day, and wouldn’t be able to go any faster. He just peaked early not a big deal. I ran a 4:30 mile and a 9:40 2 mile my 8th grade year and only improved by 8 seconds my freshman year.
Nice to hear from you. I wonder if you someone use a HR monitor. It really helps me to curb myself especially at the times when I feel ready steady but have probably an oxygen debt.
The advantage of doing something at our own pace and increasing the resistance gradually is we won’t give up halfway. Unlike exstreme pushes to the edges at once. I have seen people trying hard to the maximum and then let it go after the first try.
You have to start training for this in like middle school I hope. I could do 5k in like 26minutes maybe lol. But I started 5 months ago and never jogged my whole life
Thanks for this video. Really helped.
I’m new to running just 4 months in doing the couch to 10k app. I’m 45 years old and was very active when I was young (basketball and martial arts) but was never a runner.
Since starting I’ve been unsure about easy pace. Conversational seems super slow, but the nose breathing tip makes way more sense for me.
Question. I’m now running continuously for about 1hr 6min with hills at an easy pace. Conversational for me or (nose breathing) takes me to 160 heart rate and is still comfortable.
At this stage am I ready to add tempo runs now or should I just continue building the easy base for longer?
My goal is to increase speed over time and eventually run a marathon late this year.
Thanks for all of the great content.
I wish I did running when I was his age. Every year my school did cross country trials, and the best 6 boys made it for eachagegroup. I was thesecond best runner in my class, The best in my class was known to be the fittest and best at sports in the grade. I purposely didnt try in the trials because when the teachers said cross-country, I thought it meant running across the country. I blame the teachers for not explaining it
Should I eat the same amount on rest days if I have two rest days a week?
I accidentally applied your technique last August but I just watched your video now and I should say it really works last August was my 1st 10k run and also my 1st gold
You sir, just earned a spot in my “running motivation” playlist!
I have a 10k on the 9th in the morning.
Got my 6.7 miles down to 50-52 min. Going to try and hit the 40’s on race day
Do you think a TM time trial with 1.5% incline can reasonably predict an equivalent performance on a flat road course (no wind)?
Dude, you have inspired me to get back into running. Thanks! And, good race man.
Hello!? Please respond ASAP how do we get the rabbit to appear?!
Excellent vid. Currently training for my second marathon and a lot of what you’ve said here hits home. Good stuff man.
Thank you for this info! Running the LA Marathon in 4 days:)
Thanks I was waiting for a video like this since after 3 races I couldn’t find the bunny
There’s someone at my school with a 5:09 and he has the same name as the kid in this video
There’s a guy called nico young,he’s famous and has a pre 14 min. 5k.search him out.
6:04 in half speed and you can see the boy moving his legs faster
Got two pair of the Sage drymax socks over the holidays, they’re amazing. I didn’t know socks could feel this good! Highly recommend
In the past months I looked many times to tables like the Daniel’s ones but I didn’t rely too much on them because I usually focus on marathon training, so I knew that I hadn’t valid PR’s on shorter distances to compare to 26.2 predictions.
I never cared much about half marathon but three times I improved my PR on this distance after running full marathons.
A couple of months ago I ran alone a 1h16’32” half but my official PR is one minute above and in my last marathon I did two 1h19’xx” halves.
Great info! If i just want to be a casual runner, then these tips will be ok? No real race goals or anything, just want a good warm up before weight training and to get back to a 2-mile cutoff.
For a 5k or more KM I think we should breathe in and out with nose and mouth not just a nose you are giving the wrong tip on this one
This kid is so cute.
I hope he doesn’t burn out with the sport of running and goes on to have a great career!
You probably answered this already but…
What’s your training to reach that time?
I’m legit tired doing that last run..I’m not able to reach on time..every single time I just ran out of time by 6-7secs.
its not actually that weird if you think about it. Like maybe his great grandfather was african or something
I’m in 10th grade and on a course I ran 17:20 (slow course) and a ninth grade who is flippin insane ran like 16:20 and has already broken 16
Me and my friend share this channel and we have both ran 17: 30 and we’re 12
I’m 8 and I can run a 25 min 5K ( 3 miles) oh and the course was way harder then that! I’m also a triathlete and gymnast RUN. why is there not a running or gymnast symbol????????????
Sage, do you ever get a chance to train with guys faster than you? Seems like the American guys from the 70’s tried to race the crap out of their buddies.
My fastest 5k time is 19:38, I’m trying to get it down to 15 minutes..
I think i can run a bether 5k I am a 800m 13 year old runner and a 13 year old in Norway have runned 2 min bether. We only train 5 times a week to not get injured.
Came for running, stayed for intro, left being a subscriber thanks to great information..
How are you going to run a sub 17 before a sub 5.10 mile just saying no hate or anything
Hi Sir, i have a 10km race on Dec 3 2017. May i ask what pace do i need to start on my 10k? My first 10k race was dec of 2015 and i got 51mins…
I want to beat my personal best time..Race is coming in a weeks..
very good video with some great advice for all standards. Interesting that you refer to “miles” rather than Ks for a metric distance event. Many 10ks in the Uk are still mile marked. When I ask race organisers why, they say that I am the ONLY one who “complains about it”. My current aim (at age 68) is to keep under 50 minutes for 200 10ks (I need another 14) so obviously the maths would be so much easier if the course was K marked….keeping eack K under 5 mins. Simples. Like you reference to warm up which so many seem to ignore and to not needing water which was illegal when i started running anyway! As I start off at even race pace I find running with a “buddy” difficult; no one seems to do even splits. The majority over the second 5K are those running postive 5k spilts and I’m catching them. Several will say “see you when you catch us, Terry!”…so why don’t they run with me from the start I wonder.?
At 54 and fairly athletic, though no long distance runner, I was pleasantly pleased to find that for my age thirty minutes put me in the 30 year old bracket for average speed.
Then you had to ruin it with this 😉
Just kidding. I went from 4k to 5k in the last week. Only been running for a month. You inspired me to go out, so although not everyday I am running 6 days a week. I love watching these videos and usually watch something to inspire me just before I go out.
How do you get your heart rate up from 1klm warm up 100bpm to 84%MHR? I am just starting to run intervals and tempo and find it soo hard.
The world record is around 16:32 for his age and I did 18 flat and I just turned 13 a few days ago. And like does he really need 250 euro shoes
I am planning to do a 5k race in a couple months, I have never done one but I used to wrestle and can handle any type of training that pushes me to the limits, I plan to do mma in about half a year or so, so I want to get my endurance up, what advice can you give to me to be able to win a 5k I will prepare for a couple months before my first race but what training do you recommend, I want the fastest way even if it’s the hardest
Yo i got the 15k watch for free, I just pressed no one the purchase and went to play an arcade game and I still have it for some reason lol
Pacing is difficult for me so this is a timely video. My problem is my pace always seems to fall back into the same range on every run. Even when I try to slow things down for my long runs I find myself at the same pace I have been running at in all my other runs within a few kilometers even though I am consciously trying to run slower. How do you slow down and keep that slower pace? Any tricks/suggestions?
Talking about 10k then you switch to mile. I dont know how many potatoes that is.:)
Is it unsafe to jump up from running 34 miles one week to 40 miles the next week.
Thanks for the great tips! I’m running a 10k on Sunday and this will help a lot:)
Why do you have so many times for the 10th race? I only have 65 seconds
Just a low key 14 minute 5k runner strolling by… what the heck.
I can run 10k at 38 minute what should I do to improve best timing
My personal opinion is that too young to run at those speeds. The heart is The lungs have to develop a lot
After I saw the ending credits, I couldn’t see the rabbit. Can’t I get shoes forever?
Great video Sage. I think your spot on with your advice here
Hello I was wondering why if sometimes I run a mile at 8:00 minutes I get a pace of 9..something?
I can’t get past the maze one
I always run out of time last second
Great intro! Keen to see more piano! How long have you been playing?
This kid has a good attitude and considerable potential, but I’m not sold on those Vaporflys… I’m sorry to say but those shoes are known to boost performance almost as if you’re running on a pillow. Most people will say this kid is spoiled, but I can tell he’s very respectful and doesn’t take anything for granted.
I ran a 5k in 22 minutes and trying to run my 10k in 45 for the most
My 18:36 time feels so insignificant now you make it look remarkably easy
Thanks! 6 months ago I didn’t run. 3 months ago after much training and many thanks to many of your videos, I ran my first 5K in 30min. Next week I tackle my first 10k. This video came at the perfect time! Thanks!! Wish me luck!
what does “before 30min” means exactly? you start warming up at BF30min or finish at BF30min?
plz someone answer me.
Drinking energy drinks first makes you run faster also. An every one saying they cant find the rabbit. Before you find all map pieces the rabbit will spawn in-front of the tree every morning. After you find all the pieces. You no longer have to speak to the rabbit any more first. He will be at the race start location. Found this out the hard way.
Do you have a video about how to say whether I am in a good shape to beat under 40min in 10k?
Thanks! This is perfect timing for me! I just finished my 5K “training” and am planning on my first official 5k in 3 weeks and going to attempt a 8K in 5 weeks.and I need to amp things up!
What was the question mark at the rangers house in The second run?
This was particularly helpful to me given that you mention perceived effort. Was wondering how the concept could be applied to adjusting ones pace while training for a race with climbs. Is this something Nate or you’ve addressed innone of your videos? Would love to hear your thoughts on the same. Kudos on the great work, your videos have really helped me keep injuries at bay:)
The rabbit isn’t there for me do you think you need to complete the club races?
awesome tips, you are helping a lot of people like me. God bless you. keep making more such videos. great work
Tysm, also does the rabbit appear only once?
Edit: I honestly hate the running race in the racetrack, it gets sooooo annoying remembering where the finish flag is
Thanks for all these videos, TRE. I’m 50 and have just taken up running. Will be taking part in a 5km run in March ’18 (baby steps!), and your advice has benefitted me greatly.
Your strategy is right on. 10k is my best performing race and what you described is what I backed into over the years, almost exactly to what you recommend. I am 70 and seldom lose a 10k age bracket race. Even during my 6 mile runs in the mid week I follow your warm up strategy, mile 4 and 5 I want to quit but when I can struggle through it the finish line rewards me with a great elapse time. Thanks for publishing this video.
My friend got 15:45 in 7th grade down here in South Texas there fast
I have 4 months to go from dying after a mile ( 6:20) to running a 10k. Pray for me lol
Who else thought they were actually gonna race in the video?
salute to the camera man who focuses bot the cycling, road & the racer at a same time without living any portion of the runner from the camera frame
can you help i dont really understand tempo run my pace is 4.30k what should i do for a tempo run thank you
I’m 16 an my fastest run was 2k in 6:20 mins and that was also my longest run lmao, I did 2k every day for 2 weeks in lockdown (first day was 10 mins)but then i gave up an now I’m doing weights
I was impressed by the intro. Then I spotted the five string and thought there was going to be a banjo outro. Better luck next time!
As for finding race pace, it wasn’t really answered in this video except to say that it depends.
Holly (and Nate), congrats on your great videos! These are well put together and and both of you are eloquent and pleasant to watch. Cheers!
Muy buen paso vi tu tecnica aunque yo soy una persona mayor pues me siento joven bien hecho como kepchoge congratulations
I never out of breath its just my heart rate sky rocket so fast so i have to slow down within the first 5 minutes of running for 3 minutes till it drops then run again.. but never tired lol
Bro I’m 14 and I have run 16:35. 16:50 cross country at state. For me the more miles the likely to get injured. I like more quality than quantity.
Going to run my first 10k April 11, 2020! Training starts January 5.
— gotta get myself that watch and some type of shoes Bc mine are beat.
Damn, never thought I’ll be happy cuz I’m faster at a mile than a 13-year old
Great and intelligent young man tho
100% recomend. I am 11 and ran a 10k in 44:03 (my goal was sub 45). This video is magical i swear, i cut off 5 mins off my best time!!!
great vid but talking in miles when dealing with a 10k is confusing, then again i am european!
Thanks for the vid. I have been a runner since jr. High I’m currently training for my 3rd marathon. Everything in this video was very good
Running my first 10k on Sunday. I’ve been consistent with my running over the past 5 months, minimum of 5 days a week (I lost 20kgs in the process). First 3 months I was running between 5-8Ks and the last two I’ve been running 6-10Ks.
Any tips about what not to do for this race? I’m pretty excited so I’m looking up everything on 10k races so I don’t want to overload myself on information, thanks:)
You got 5 minutes for race number 10. I only get 65 seconds.
I’m planning on running my first 10k a week after my cross country state meet. I’ll have to run on my own the week leading up to the 10k since XC season will be over. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should run that week? I’m currently on 30-40 per week and by the time the 10k comes around I’ll have been training for 6 months. I’ve done my base phase and my coach will be tapering me for state. I thinking of doing a 30 mile week with an interval workout in there and maybe some speed stuff like 200s.
I only started at 14 so yeah I started late but now 2 years later I’m at 19:30 pr. I’m working hard right now but I’m trying to get better over the summers to get more improvement
Looks like Mec cut basically all races for 2020. Just 6 trail races for the entire country. We had 4 road and 3 trail in Edmonton last year.
Those intros are great, and all the tips as well. Fantastic job Sage!!!! thank you man.
Although I found many vids about side stitches I would rly love to hear your thoughts about this topic. Did you have them? How to fight them. How to avoid…
Doing a hilly 12k as a slower older runner, hoping for under 2 hours!, first race so excited, any words of wisdom are appreciated!
Hi sage, love the musical intros. This video is very pertinent to me as training for my 6th marathon attempt to break 4hrs currently at 4.26 and come from a sprinting background. Just did a 5x 1000m at 7.26/mile pace aiming for 9min miles obviously even though thst workout was hard it wasn’t unbearable but as soon as I increase the distance say 5x 1 mile my average pace drops to 8 min mile. Would you say that’s too much if a drop in pace for my goal?
I gave up in long distance running I found out I’m fast got 4b4 400 and 200
I started running 2 month ago and i can run 5 km without stopping and can do 15km on 1h28 minutes
I can run 5k at 40mins… I recently signed up for a 10k due in 1 month; am I doomed?
Drink less coffee and you’ll sleep better and look less worn out.
Hi;)
Should you train with your current speed capacity or at the set pace for the race?
Thanks✌️
I ran 09’32”/km and almost sh** myself. But i keep running everyday for almost a month now and it feel amazing.
Hi can you make video on the new cone cabin? Bcs whenever i go to the cone cabin at race track regardless after its closed, all i can see is someone sleeping there and cant unlock the cone cabin construction…
I am so proud of that kid. He is only 13 and look what he has already achieved. He has achieved what the majority of runners only think of all their lives. So proud of him, he is such an inspiration for every runner out there.
Wow…………bro……………. your life is very………… very…….. bright………and very faster runner brother
Would love to see a video showing how to hold good form while running downhill on the road perhaps with Sandi filming with a side on view so we can see how you do it, please.
13:09 why was yours 300 seconds, why was mine 65 seconds?!?!
My best 10k time is 39:10 (17 years old)
what about you guys?
Nice video as always, Sage. Very relevant for me. Preparing for my first full marathon in Bergen, Norway i April. Looking very much forward to it.
