Intermittent Fasting. Certain carefully designed weight loss programs require that you fast on certain days of the weekend, then eat whatever you want on your “off” days. Usually, your fast days require that you consume a very low-calorie diet—often a quarter of the calories that you typically consume.Take a more positive approach, by calling it a “treat,” instead of a “cheat.”. Cheat day is ok at first but i find that over time it can slow your progress, and depending on the person and maybe your age it can take up to a week to get your body back into burning fat from that one day where you ate 5000 calories.. not a fan of a cheat day..

I have been doing IF for about 2 months and I have recently switched to being vegan. I do IF 7 days a week. And since I have changed my eating habits I can’t eat processed or sugary food anymore or I get very sick. And I certainly don’t force feed myself. Totally relate to what you said about keeping it clean. Because of food allergies, I have to make most things from scratch. When I have a carb-up or cheat, I go to the trouble of making my carb-up meal w/dessert or popcorn. I’ve lost 50+ lbs through fasting and Keto, with elimination of inflammation and joint pain caused by food allergies, so eating “clean” is something I can’t screw around with anymore.

Today I ate more than I have in over a monthafter losing 7 pounds. So I ate some junkquite a bit of itBUT for dinner I loaded up on salad only. So I was conscience about what I ate but I tried to compensate at dinner. Tomorrow it’s back to the diet!

Coming a life-long history with an severe eating disorder including two near death experiences I can honestly say that your words do make me feel that not everyone is into these crazy diets and binging/restricting phases. Do u still track calories during the week using my fitness pal? I’m trying to take a break and eat more intuitively whilst maintaining weight yet I find it harder to incorporate junk foods now as I’m not 100% sure on my caloric intake because I’m not tracking

i have been on a low carb diet since march 17 2018 one thing that is helping me stick to eating healthy is having one day we’re i’m on vacation from from my diet, some so called know it all people will say to never have cheat day, but the average person will give up on their diet if they don’t cheat and it’s why diet fail because the rules are too strict. But eating ex large pizza by yourself lol that’s just wrong on a cheat day and those type of cheat days will cause you to stop losing weight.

I ate 1 large pickle and giardiniera veggies and gained 1.2lbs, I had to look to see why these are both low carb and typically healthy but loaded in sodium. I did what you said in addition to cardio I drunk lots of water alkaline mainly for the potassium.
Wow, great video, Sam!! I go through a “Saturday guilt” every Saturday. I hit it hard all week, calorie deficit, down to 10-11 percent body fat, striated shoulders, etc, but on Saturday is my day to enjoy food more. Well, I turn it into a cheat day instead of a meal. It makes me feel better knowing that you can do a cheat day once a week and not stall weight loss. So basically most of the fat I’m seeing is water weight in the abdominal region the next day? I should know better, but the brain makes up a guilt trip and I feel like a big fatty who lost 2 weeks worth of progress. I’ll take your advice and learn to enjoy my cheat day without the guilt, but maybe 7k calories on my cheat day (versus 1800 a day normally) is too much. I’ll try to tone it down a bit. I don’t want this one Saturday to be the reason why my lower abs are coming in so slowly. Carbs, sugar, and raw veggies make me sick to my stomach along with a ton of other crap haha. But definitely worth it to me. Ive gone from 435lbs and im sitting at 180lbs. Now to get rid of my 30-40 pounds of extra skin . I only get between 500-800 calories a day and aim for 90 grams of protein. For example: on wednesday i turned 18 and my entire family came we had a lot of food and i said to myself “okay this is my cheatday since its also my birthday” but then the next day my friends came over, we had cake again and we went clubbing afterwards we also had a few drinks etc and i felt so guilty the day after i thiught: “damn i just had a cheatday i shouldn’t be doing this, i will ruin every progress i made so far.” My fear atm also is that the holiday season is right around the corner and there will be a few days when i will feel like that and i just don’t want that.

I think having a cheat day requires way more discipline than not having one because it takes restraint to tell yourself okay eat healthy all week and one day eat what you wanted all week then stop i mean it would be suicide i don’t think cheating should be planned you just should try to eat healthy and if you want something have it just don’t go over board

Ok, so today i had a cheat day( had around 2000 kcal instead of my normal 1000) and although i ate a lot of home cooked “healthy” meals and nice desserts i feel the disgusting afthermath of being completely full to the point where not looking forward to a next meal and i gotta say that i realise that it’s not even worth it. In my mother tongue we have this accurate saying “once in your mouth, forever in your body” and i felt that.
Not eating for a day or two is way easier than “portion control.”
As for “just a little bit,” alcoholics don’t just have “a little bit” to drink. People addicted to carbs shouldn’t do that either.
On the restaurant thing, having an avocado before going out with friends works, because the fat satiates you. Just don’t smoke any joints, because you’ll get crazy hungry.

I cleaned the house and did short run. Lost a pound off mine.Only one and half pounds till back to normal. The house looked messy and it helped to have it tidier looking. I started my own little eating routine few months back
Mondays I fast for 24hrs
Tues to thurs I do intermittent fasting, 12 till 8pm. where I only have vegan meals, no processed food, no chocolate or snacks etc
Fridays I relax the rules and eat what I want, usually get a takeaway (meat of some sort)
Saturday and sunday back to intermittent fasting either vegan or vegetarian meals
All sounds crazy now I’ve wrote it all down lol but honestly after the first 3 weeks it’s been smooth sailing, I dont even over indulge on the fridays now and even on the weekdays my body is fine with having one meal a day.
Being able to keep my mind and body at bay it’s so fucking empowering. I love it

I love this video. I enjoy watching all of your videos. I’ve lost over +100lbs over the past few years and have been living an active and plant based diet for about a year. I started doing SO MUCH cardio that I was getting too skinny, but because of my tiny amount of loose skin around my lower stomach area I always feel fat. I’ve recently started to eat more (healthy) calories and doing more weight training and a little less cardio in order to “bulk up”. I won’t lie, food still scares me and even when I burn over 1,000 calories in a day, I’m still nervous to eat over 2,000 calories in a day. I know I shouldn’t be, but my loose skin makes me feel fat when I’m not. I love watching your videos because they give me some hope that I’m not going to get “fat” again by eating more (super healthy) food… and I also love watching what you guys eat. Donuts are life ha ha. You and all of your special guests have amazing personalities and don’t seem to judge people for their physiques or their lack of knowledge on the subject of being athletic. Keep doing what you do because you’ve definitely got a fan here in South Texas. Maybe the next time I’m in Florida or the next time you’re in Texas we could link up, have a donut and coffee and maybe a quick photo session (I’ve been a photographer for modeling/talent agencies and record labels for +10 years… that wasn’t a creepy request ha ha!). Saturdays are my cheat days too but during the week when I get gas for my car twice a week and I buy candy. Usually Reese’s or 2 Air heads. Other than that I usually stick to my meal prep also only drink a gallon of water and green tea during the week. Is that harmful to my weight loss/Health journey?

2. Break your fast with a keto meal, if you break your fast with high carbs your insulin will go to the moon.
3.Don’t eat fat when your insulin is high.
4. Choose complex carbs and do HIIT.

I try to get as much low carbs when ever I order take out like McDonald’s. I replace the bread with lettuce wrapped around instead of that bread that has 150-180 calories. Last of all, I ask for no salt fries/ the lowest calories soda/ soda drink if I get any thing to drink of course.

At the suggestion of a friend, who was a professional bodybuilder, I restricted my carbs and ate cleanly 6 days a week…followed by a cheat day. After a couple of months I dropped 2 belt sizes and have stayed that way doing this routine since. My friend also insisted I have at least 2 quarts of water daily. It works for me.
Seems like You eat a lot of carbs such as fruit, granola, etc. have you ever done low carb diets… keto or Atkins type of diet?

my friend is an alcoholic, but now he has stopped drinking alcohol because he has sick fatty liver and now he only drinks during his cheat day too, God bless cheat days, they dont mess up ur liver or fat burning hormones. Our bodies filter outa lot the toxins we eat. So if eat a lot heathy all the time it lower the body to respond clearing out all of that toxin, that why we get sick. Our are built to filter out these things.
Even Jesus said what we put in doesn’t defile because it cleaned by the by body and goes in to the waste. We don’t to do it all the time to eat bad as you call it, but it kind of put the body into shock to eat too healthy and not give it to help it’s self to filter it out.

I’ve found it’s best for me to just not have cheat meals/days. I totally screwed myself. I was only 20lbs from my goal when I decided to reward myself with oreo ice cream and it became a downward spiral. I lost 65lbs then once I started cheating I kept cheating and it was oreo ice cream once a week, then twice week, then every other day then everyday. 1500-2000 a pop in just ice cream, on top of that high fat keto foods. I ended up gaining 25-30lbs back extremely quickly, it’s scary how fast I can gain. Extended 5-7 day liquid fasts combined with keto and 18-24 hour daily fasts I’m finally losing the weight again and I’m almost cured of my sugar addiction.
Google says the fat from a cheat day is water fat but that never tends to be my case cuz after I cheat the fat never goes away after a week. It leads me to go back to square one. I.e. a person weighs 160 after 2 months they fall to 150. They have a cheat day and t en next day go back to 160. And rather than 2 weeks later after going back on deficit they’d be down to 148. They stay at 160 having to restart everything. There’s not constant decreasage. Why D: this issue is one of the reasons I havnt lost body fat And if been trying for 2 years already v.v

What had happened was me trying to get off of IF and trying to just wing it and watch my calories. Nope I ended up finding myself wanting to snack! i do my regular air squats the same way as you, and people tell me I do it wrong, but my old weight lifting coach said i was doing them right.
I did 27 day clean diet and on 28 date I ate one treat meal..and that ok.After that next day start your previous clean diet.In 28 day I lost 2.5 inch of my waist and 1.5 inch of my lower belly.JUST LET YOURSELF ENJOY SOME TREAT,CUZ YOU WON’T GAIN WRIGHT BY 1 CHEAT MEAL.

I think cheat meals are fine and cheat days in fact as long as you’re having 1 pizza and a beer and a scoop of ice cream rather than an whole tub of ben and jerry’s, a doughnut, 3 beers, a pizza, a box of cereal and some oreos hahaha

You don’t just gain water weight when you binge. Some of the extra calories do get turned into fat.
I’m 15 years old. I normally eat 1600-1800 calories a day ( I’m increasing my intake, because I’m underweight). And I do a cheat day every Friday, but the amount of calories I eat on a cheat day is probably 1800-2000. So, do you think is it better for me to do a cheat day or just eat normally everyday?
Also I want to ask that is it important to exercise after cheat day? Cause after cheat day, I exercise excessively. I do treadmill for 70-80 minutes at 7 mph everyday.

On a cheat day, I go out to eat for korean or japanese food XD. im really tired of american food like pizza, hot dogs, burgers etc. Thats not the type of food i would indulge myself in and its completely out of my diet tbh. i ate too much of that as a kid cause it was always put in front of me, and i dont enjoy it at all anymore.

Honestly, if you are really overweight, having a cheat every weekend, isnt smart. Period. If you are far from your goal weight it should be every other week or 10 days apart. A cheat snack. Like one full sized candy bar, king size even. Not a meeeeeal.

whenever i go out with friends or family and we know we are eating out, before i leave the house i will eat my veggies, a cup or two of my greens (i’m a big portion eater)
just so i don’t go crazy on the menu — because eating out ( a lot) was the sole reason i was obese.
i am not worried, i am just being cautious.. or mindful.
also no restrictions, so no cheat meal/days.
just doing what i think for me is sustainable.

Nice video!! I follow all the science, but it’s hard to get it out of my head that it’s all about calories over time instead of one day worth of damage. Great reminder. I have a hard time with staring at a bloated belly and making things out to be worse than it really is. I tend to do the same thing, I can’t just do a refeed day by raising calories to maintenance. Naaahhhh I have to do 5-8k calories also and I get guilty after. I’ll try to moderate more so I don’t feel as guilty lol

i had to learn this the hard way. i’ve learned not to restrict myself because that’s what causes me to over eat. i allow myself either one sugary drink (no more than 16 oz) or a sugary food because my sweeth tooth is outrageous. this allows me to satisfy my sweeth tooth without over eating. i also try to drink a liter of water throughout the night it kinda helps with the water weight for me
for me cheat days work.I don’t overeat because I have a flexible but healthy diet not restrictive because i’m still a teenager.I’ve cut out soda COMPLETELY and i drink water,tea,coffee or homemade juices instead.Also I stopped using oil in foods and cut out processed sugar and dairy completely(sugar is allowed on cheat days) also carbs are allowed but i opt for healthy carbs.I also workout 7 times a day,7/7 days of the week.I love my lifestyle:)

I LOVE how you use the math in your videos because that’s literally what weight loss comes down to no matter whats going on in your body. I always track everything I eat, and if I go over my calories 200-300 and still exercise that day I still lose that week. When I eat a big cheat meal, I usually only eat one more time during the day cuz I’m so full anyway. I always make sure a cheat is something i REEAAALLY truly want, and not a whole bag of reese’s or pizza rolls lol. I want to eat something I really want so i still feel good afterward

I watched this last night before sleeping and I thought to myself: “What if I change my mindset overnight?” It’s depressing because every after meal/snack, I would overly stress myself over eating something, knowin it’d gain me weight, make me look fatter. I train 3x a week (Cardio + Workout) and I feel like it’s not enough cause I want to look more thinner than I already am.

What if my cheat day may consist of pancakes/bacon/eggs for breakfast, a huge sloppy burger and large fry for lunch, Fried Chicken, dressing and Mac/Cheese for dinner and a 3 scoop sundae from Culvers with toppings for desert and before bed I enjoy a 40oz glass of Moscato wine. That’s what my cheat day would look like once a week so I’m afraid it will kill my 6 day effort. Id love to jump on this cheat day living but am I overdoing it? My 6 day meal plan consist of 3 liters of water per day, in 48 oz of my 3 liters of water I include ginger, ACV, Lemon, Turmeric, Black pepper on an empty stomach before breakfast. For breakfast I have 1/4 cup of steel cut oates with a little honey, chia seeds, cinnamon and cream. For lunch I have a 4 egg sandwich (Ezekiel bread). For dinner I have 1/4 plate of starch, 1/4 plate of veggie, 1/2 plate of meat. and that’s all I eat for 6 days (its about 1300 calories).
By mistake took vitamine C, lost keto diet. i think lots of suger in

I definitely enjoyed this video and it made me feel better when I have a sweet item that’s not super healthy. I make sure I workout enough and get extra cardio in on the day that I have a cheat meal and I try to only have 2 cheat meals during the week and I still lose weight/maintain just have to workout and drink green tea which helps with the bloating a lot. Eat clean most of the week and you will reach your goals. Food is meant to be enjoyable and fuel our bodies so don’t stress it when you have a sweet snack or cheat meal. Take small steps to reach your goals.

This is true! When I started my weight loss journey it was real slow & I was waiting on Fridays or Saturdays to eat my sweets but when I started to eat a piece of something that I loved to indulge in every day ( like one small cookie or two spoons of ice cream etc. ) I actually started to lose weight faster & it satisfied me lol it blew my mind
Is being a 2 weeks I am on keto and being very long time haven’t done any cheat days but today I give myself!
I could eat helthy till 4 pm then I start to have a tones of cookies , ice cream and candy gum.
My stomach couldn’t take it and I vomited all after while.
I don’t know Did I get all that sugar n nutrition in to my body or not? As I vomited badly all my taken food!
I think it was enough for me for the rest of the life and I will never, ever do this again! I just make my Saturday my healthy carb diet only. But let me say cheat day it works on ur mental and makes u way far stronger to stick on ur gaol!

I do modified ADF and track my calories. I have stocked low calorie treats and snacks for my salty and sweet cravings so I can stay within my calories. I only weigh myself once a month and the day after is my “food anarchy” day where I eat all the stuff I had been craving through the month. That way, I can avoid temptations and I have a whole month to offset that one day of eating over my daily calories. It’s been working just fine for me down 36 lbs in 3 months.

That’s why I love my alternate day fasting protocol. Even if I overeat, I would have to eat double the calories I need for maintainance every time I eat to stay at the weight I am, that’s impossible
