The frustrations with food you described in the beginning of the video about “not feeling like we are enough and over thinking” is exactly how my full blown battle with orthorexia began. (Orthorexia is the extreme obsession with eating foods that one considers “clean” or healthy). It all began my 7th grade year when I found all my health information on Pinterest. My journey to be healthier had spiraled out of control and left me with health issues and a hatred for food for some time. I have recovered from my obsession with “clean foods” but I didn’t even know my extreme eating disorder had a name until years after. love your channel and how you encourage people to have a healthy mindset with food. I love all these tips, I have a Boarderline Personality Disorder and these tips are very much like DBT skills. Its a therapy to help our condition but the first tip you mentioned is what I’m trying to learn now as we get tought to take opposite action and that opposite action is discipline…… when I want to just lay in bed or take part in a bad coping mechanism, that are sadly quite damaging. Opposite action and discipline is whats going to hopefully drive me forward, as I never have motivation that lasts more than a week, I feel like the word DISCIPLINE is far better than the word motivation as lack of motivation for me makes me feel as if I’ve FAILED…… when I suppose its just a matter of making wise choices:-) Thankyou For Helping Me See……

Thanks for the positive reinforcement.. i basically went ‘vegan’ a few weeks ago with everything going very well. Then, last night i had a major craving for a glass of (dare i say it?) regular cow’s milk and a piece of chocolate cake! I felt so guilty, like i was doing something wrong, i would be ruining everything i had accomplished up to that point. I quickly realized, i had to take that pressure off of me, that the mind set of “all or nothing”… “do or die” was not correct. It’s ok (for me), to enjoy something once in awhile that may not be %100 pure. That ‘freedom’ i gave myself was all i needed. I had a few cookies and a smoothie and went to bed in peace:)

lately I’ve actually been craving more veggies. I get really happy whenever we have broccoli or sweet potatoes now. Not to mention spicy foods. I been fiending for spicy. but since I have limited what I eat now, and drinking way more water, I feel I’ve been finally losing weight.

It’s very very extremely hard in the beginning but then it get harder … it take a lots of power of will Daniel martiz boy! Good on ya!
What they say is all true, there’s one more thing that helps you to stop eating junk food whenever you get bored/watch a movie or see others eating it, it’s intermittent fasting, insanely easy, basically eat twice a day and fit those meals into an 8 hour period (2 big meals and if you must, in between, have fruits as desert). This will basically make you so full that in the first couple of days/weeks you will have to force the food down your throat, 2000 calories comes down to about 2.5 3kg of food (it’s really hard for beginners to eat that much). I tested this, lost 12kg in 5months, with literally zero exercise (exercise is good but I wanted to test if you can lose weight as a couch potato, moving out of the house once a week or even less). You cannot eat stuff that has added sugar (if you want to sweeten something, use dates, soak and blend them), oil (no matter what kind, it’s all the same when it comes to weight gain), (try to lower salt to the minimum 1-2g daily for preventing blood pressure/heart disease) try to eliminate all products that are made with flour and if you can’t, only use 100% whole grain, whole meal products (the easiest way to check this, is to check the raw materials fiber content, let’s say it’s a lentil pasta, google lentil, check fiber content, if the pasta advertises as whole meal and it has way less fiber than the raw product (5% instead of 20%) then you know it’s a BS product, usually the darker it is, the higher the fiber content). I eat fully whole food plant based but if you can’t give up your meat, you can still achieve this, just first fill yourself up with fruit, lentils, beans, salad and only then (if you still can eat) consume meat. I guarantee a constant weight loss of at least 2kg/month if you do this (if you are overweight right now).

without exaggerating; legumes are possibly the most healthy food you can eat! get a person who normally gets carbs through crappy food to replace it with lentils and beans and it’ll change their lives. there’s a thing called the “second meal effect” ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3205742/ / https://nutritionfacts.org/video/beans-and-the-second-meal-effect/ ) which is like a way to hack your body(possibly a glitch in the matrix:-)
PS I’m so glad you started with fiber, its quite insane how most people don’t come close to getting their daily intake(especially when it’s so easy).
My tip would be to be cautious of things sold in health food shops, especially chain stores, not everything sold there is necessarily healthier or better for you. Always read the labels and make informed choices.

Strictly speaking a smoothie using the whole fruit, say an apple, DOES have the same amount of fiber as eating a whole apple. There are other reasons why eating the whole fruit is more satiating, having to do with chewing and time, etc, but there is some confusion about fiber being lost or destroyed in the blending process and this is simply not true. Otherwise great show.

I try to think that way but I still struggle a lot. Even if I consciously decide to eat food that it ends to be something I have been restricting unconsciously for a while (like fats or sugar), the result is that I eat it with anxiety and the I feel bad because I am not able to feel the pleasure of eating that food as I wanted, and then I got frustrated and the wheel keeps rolling…

I never say loosing weight, or weight loss. I say weight drop, weight reduction. I have reduced my weight by 6 stone. I am now on a journey to reduce the rest of the weight that I carry. I’ve just watched a documentary titled Heal, where there are terminally heal people who miracolously heal themselves. The documentary is related to the pharmaceutical industry, doctors and surgeons but also alternative medicine. They identified some guidelines to follow to help the healing process, primarily a whole food plant based diet (stated by doctors) but also faith and love are very important. I am truly blessed for finding your channel. In the past, I tried several times to workout at home but couldn’t do more than 2 days in a row. With TBP I managed to go 2 weeks and counting. I really can’t believe it. Daniel has a way with words, he knows exactly what to say to motivate and Alex is so energetic I am striving for her stamina. I was so depressed, I just sat for months in front of the computer. Under 30yo and my knees ached, my back ached. Sometimes i still feel like that and feelings of self sabotage start creeping up. When I was younger I used to absolutely love working out. I was athletic throughout school and hit the gym 5-6 days a week for years. But when I hit 40 I started hating working out, especially since work was very physically demanding. A few months ago I realised I needed to get back to working out but couldn’t really get into it…. Have gone vegan a couple months now and every time I make lentils they hurt my stomach so bad I don’t know why beans are fine but lentils mess up my stomach! I keep hearing about how good they are so it’s really disheartening how much they bother my stomach.

HHi Daniel, these exercise are amazing. I usually have serious lower back pain and from i start doing your cardio exercise my back pain is gone. i stopped thinking too much about the chemistry behind the food i eat and just,,, eat what i want. i found out that when i let myself eat whatever i want for a while, i feel a lot happier and tend to make healthier choices. when i put myself in these boundaries of what i should and shouldn’t eat, i crave for everything i “shoudn’t” because its like a forbidden treasure. i struggled with heavy restriction of calories for the past 3 years and i’m finally getting a hang of eating what i want. it might sound silly for some people, but eating is still very hard for me. i am just 15 and i realized i need to stop wasting my life counting the calories of meals i had in my friend’s birthday party and start doing something that would develop me as a better person.
Hi, thank you for sharing these tips. I have an issue with staying on track whenever I start going on a diet and workout routine. I have an autoimmune disease and one of its medication’s effects is weight gain (apparently). But I don’t want to use that as an excuse. I really want to lose weight.
I don’t want to workout with my family knowing as well, as they’ll start having expectations and sometimes my brother teases me because of my weight and questions why I’m still fat. It really hurts when that happen and I just end up telling myself it’s no use to even try.

Hi all, well I got my arse into gear I joined a gym, my goal was to lose my body fat so I have signed up for a 12 week fat loss challenge program, I’m 9 weeks in and I’ve lost around 2 stone meaning I’m now 81.25 kg, the PT before you even step foot in the gym they take a before photo and then measure your fat all over your body then they send you meal plans which you have to follow step by step so it gets split up into 3 week cycles as I’m in my last 3 weeks I’m now in the full keto stage, I’m eating 1600 calories per day and I’m drinking between 3-4 litres of water a day. My first gym class 30 mins in a was physical sick from the workout. I’ve gone from 2 classes per week to 5 classes of doing ultimate workouts, I look better than ever, in January I shall be doing a20 week hypertrophy challenge to build myself back up to around 14.6 stone and become more healthier than I am now….

I’m 16. This is the exact age where it’s seen a cool to eat unhealthy. It’s also a common age for eating disorders. I don’t think I’ve struggled too bad. I did go a week eating only rice crispies and lettuce sandwiches (I love going to sports camps, but the vegetarian food is usually terrible). I don’t miss the Molly who felt that her size was more important than her achievements. I’m happy that I’ve mellowed out a bit more, but don’t doubt I’ll struggle again, but know I’ll have the tools needed to get through ur.
I have allergies on many foods and It is hard for me to find a diet that doesn’t include particular foods. Then my friend sent me link to the website called NextLevelDiet where I can get personalized meal plan only with food I select. My fitness journey has just started, what about you?

My main problem with trying to lose weight is the fact that every time I either eat something I am not supposed to or skip a workout I kinda create a precedent for myself. And then I just keep saying “I will get on track tomorrow and I will never eat junk food/drink/skip workouts”. That tomorrow never comes:)) And then I spiral downwards because I can’t stop eating unhealthy and have no energy to cook for myself, not to mention workout…. so I just wallow and eat take-out. I agree with all of these points and I also believe that before you begin your weight loss journey you should take a look at yourself both physically and mentally and see why are you in this situation, accept how you look and feel, and make a pact with yourself to be better. For a long time I just refused to look in the mirror or acknowledge the situation i’m in, and when you are in denial about your problems you can’t solve them. Don’t set goals based on time (ex: in 3 months I want to be x kg/lbs). This is for LIFE.
Practice kindness and patience with yourself.

Thank you Sadia for this. I have a good food and bad food mentality and when I eat I feel guilty most of the time. I feel as though the media has demonized certain foods and that has greatly affected my thoughts toward a lot of things I eat. Thank you for this perspective.

I have grown a very very unhealthy relationship with food over the past 4 years (I’m talking if not quite eating disorder, then very disordered eating). I am slowly beginning to change my mindset and in these past few months in lockdown, I have really started to make progress. I literally found your channel a couple of days ago, but there are already so many recipes I want to try and they’re healthy! I know you have good intentions but not everyone has a metabolism like you and needs to worry a little bit more about sugar, carbs, etc. The guilt helps me from overdoing it.
When he said “don’t compare” that really hit home. I had a previous trainer do that to me ALL THE TIME. my weight loss was never as good as the next clients, my workouts were never as hard as the next person etc. It just made me feel less than, which is something I’ve felt my whole life already.
