Pronated Feet and How to Fix 3 Different Causes of OVERPRONATION
Video taken from the channel: Precision Movement by Eric Wong
How Pronation, Overpronation, and Underpronation Affect Your Choice of Shoes The latest research on pronation sheds light on what you should. However, excessive pronation, or over pronation, can cause injury and damage to the foot and ankle. It causes the arch in the foot to flatten and the ligaments, tendons, and muscles under the foot overstretch.
What is Supination and Oversupination. Supination describes the.The forefoot undergoes abduction. If foot pronation is delayed into the latter stages of the stance, a problem will occur in your gait.
For example, pronation will be abnormal when, instead of supination, the foot pronates. Overpronation instead of normal. One common condition that can be a huge wake-up call is foot overpronation, also known as “flat feet” or “fallen arches.” Overpronation can increase your chances of injury, as well as painfully affect other joints in your body when you move. What is Pronation?
Pronation is the natural movement of the foot in an inward motion. When standing, as the foot rolls inwards, the arch of the foot flattens. Therefore, the term often used to describe someone who overpronates is having ‘ flat feet ‘. Pronation is a normal and helps provide shock absorption at the foot. The opposite movement to pronation is supination.
Shin splints: also known as medial tibial stress syndrome, overpronation and a pronated foot posture showed strong evidence as a risk factor as outlined in this 2014 study. Patellofemoral pain syndrome: the same shin splints study also linked overpronation to PFPS. As you can see, overpronation can result in a number of different issues.
You’ve probably heard the term “overpronation” before, and even if you already know what it is, you might not know why it happens or how to fix it. It’s a lot easier than you think. THE BASICS Overpronation occurs when your foot rolls too far inward before you push off to move forward as a step is taken.
Both supination and pronation share the same causes and consequences. While GaitLine shoes are undoubtedly recommended in cases of overpronation, it is more uncertain whether they will be as effective in cases of supination. If you supinate you should try the shoes and see for yourself whether the result feels positive or not.Over Pronation, where your centre of mass rolls inside your big toe, and excessive Supination, where your weight stays along the outside of your foot, occur when you have insufficient strength and mobility in your ankles, feet and toes to balance your centre of mass along the outside and inside of the midline.
Excessive pronation or over pronation is often identified by having flat feet or collapsing arches. When the arches are dropped, the ankles drop too, causing the tibia and fibula (leg bones) to rotate, which affects alignment in the joints all the way up the body. The ankles, knees, and back can ache as a result.
Pronation deviations that occur at the feet and ankles — called overpronation or underpronation (also known as supination) — are some of the most common underlying postural problems that adults develop. To one degree or another, collapsed arches may now affect the majority of the adult population living in industrialized nations.OVERPRONATION, KNEE PAIN AND INJURIES Overpronation, where the ankle rolls inwards while running, is often harmless, but it can also cause pain and injuries throughout the body’s kinetic chain. The problem occurs when the overpronation of the ankle joint causes the lower leg to rotate inwards, which then places extra forces on the knee.Pronation and overpronation Share on Pinterest Overpronation is when the arches of the foot roll inward or downward when walking, and is often referred to as flat feet.
Image credit: FA RenLis.Generally underpronation is considered to affect an individual when there is less than a 15 degree inward roll, which means that it is the smaller toes which do all the work in the toe off or propulsion phase rather than the big toe and second toe. Types of Gait. Overpronation; Neutral; Underpronation (Supination or oversupination) Is.
Pronation is critical to proper shock absorption, and it helps you push off evenly from the ball of the foot at the end of the gait cycle. Although pronation is a natural movement of the foot, the.

My feet roll in, and when i do not use proper shoes or insoles they go crooked and it feels shameful! for people to see me like that
Hey mr Wong, before I watch this video I will like and sub. I am 14 and when I wear pants you can clearly see my knees are bent, and when I wear shorts, I also have a question, is foot pronation equivalent to flat feet. I play sports and it feels uncomfortable running/walking because they stare and whisper sometimes, but I don’t care, I just move on. After I wrote this message I watched the video.
So if your holding a mouse then you rotate the bones causing carpel tunnel?
Thank you for the video. What if I have overpronation but my feet don’t turn outward instead they point inward? How can I fix this?
My feet are odd. When I stand and walk I am pronated, but when i sit, relax, or hang my feet without shoes they are supinated to the point where the outer edge of my feet, not my soles, touch the ground.
I fell down on the floor and land on my elbow and swells i cant straight it up and close arm and twist can every body why i cant twist my forearm?
THSI IS life changing! THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH! This video explained a lot. I subscribed and will be watching your other videos.
I loved the animation but found it almost impossible to understand the narration because of the music.
I have pronation when no stand straight up barefooted but have supination when I walk with shoes on what can I do it sole can I buy? I also have flat feet
When I have shoes on my foot leans outwards but when I’m barefoot my feet kinda go inward. Please explain why
Wow. This was eye opening. I’d seen a podiatrist years ago, who said I had normal feet. Fast forward a few years. I’d lost flexibility in the bottom of my foot and ended up with medial tibial stress fractures and knee pain from running. My PT looked at my feet and said I overpronated. So did the expert at the running store. Doing your test, I’m actually not an overpronator! But when wearing running shoes (or any shoes for that matter), I OP. Guess I just need to exercise my feet more!
I like how passionate you got about downward dog towards the end
Supinator and last year fractured a bone in my little toe as I land on the weakest part of my foot.
I can not see your feet, the subtitle hides them. The explaination great, but can not been seen anything…Correct the video, pls.
This is the thing that ive been swarhing for after years of years finally!!! When i wear shoes the shoes worn out which is natural but mine the way it worn out is like sooo uneven people would laugh at me
Can this contribute to back pain and disc degeneration at a young age, by wearing flip flops 24 7? I have very low arches and i did stop wearing flip flops but the discs are bad so its too late. I just have to baby my back and do what i can.
It would mean a lot to me if i could have a session with you. I know thats not possible haha but i really would like to have a session with someone like you, who do I look for? What kind of doctor are you?
Your video was very helpful! Thank you! I had a question though. Are you saying that wearing a stiff arch support is a bad idea?
Yes! That would be perfectly fine. I wish you good luck in your studies!
I am a personal trainer, been researching on ankle pronation because of one of my clients and this was a great video! thank you love! Also drunk part was pretty funny haha
I have over pronated feet, and it is starting to bother me very much, I feel it in my knees now,, I need help,, what is that toe device that you are using?
This youtube speaks of the hindfoot component of pronation and supination as the primary driver. In some situations, the midfoot movements, particularly at the Chopart line play the larger roll in pronation and supination. For example, this can happen when the joint capsules of the subtalar joint complex are fibrosed so there is little or no movement in the talocalcaneal joint complex.
Hello Dr Glass, What software are you using to provide the animation of the foot?
Sir..i have fore foot abduction as i always have shin pain after running..does a stability shoe will work??
I am new to this pain and cause. Which shoe helps prevent this? debating if I should go back to trainers which seemed to suit me as a teen
Hi there. First of all great video, I got some better insights in my problems. I would like to hear your opinion on it though if you have the time. I overpronate pretty badly and cant run in arch suportive shoes for more than 3 km, even with custom insoles. And its even worse with my new expensive inline skates with arch and ankle suport that forces my feet in the ‘normal’ position.
It feels like my entire bodywheight rests on my arch with both. There is immense presure on my tendons and nerves and it starts to agitate them. The pain becomes unbarable after about 20 min. and my forefoot goes numb. In non suportive shoes and my old inline skates I never have problems. Will training my arch help with this problem? Or do I need to go see an expert?
Could you please show us a few exercises that we could to do help aid/prevent this from happening?
Great informational video btw
I just finished watching your “pronation and supination of the forearm”. Thank you for the video. Could you please tell me what program you used for the skeleton? Being able to rotate bones and move the skeleton in 3D space would be extremely helpful in my study. Thank you so much!
Do you recommend the new balance tempo shoes if you have this problem? The shoe doesn’t have an arch and has a wide toe box
I’m interested in correcting feet that naturally want to invert and UNDER-pronate. Can anybody point me to some good resources?
How the hell did this pop up in my recommended videos a day after me and my brother were talking about our feet not being normally straight??? Wtfff
I applaud your efforts and approach to modern foot aliments by using an ancient and deeply natural perspective that defies the conventional podiatry philosophy. I am currently trying to implement all of your generously shared wisdom to my feet.
many thanks.
don’t know why this was so hard for me to grasp but thanks for making it easy!
Thank you, very useful information. I’m going to do your exercises and I’m going to wear the barefoot shoes, instead of conventional shoes. I’m pretty positive that those 2 things together will fix the problem.
love the channel, thank you very much for very informative contents!
I am Krushna my foot is totally overpronat please suggest me right way or any surgery.
Please reply. I am wating
Wanted to ask about spurs behind the ankle, how can I exercise and get my body to absorb them instead of getting a surgery to remove my tendons and spurs and then reatach my tendons.
I was told to wear arch supports and have been doing so every day for a year and a half. So should I stop using the supports in your opinion to strengthen my muscles? I also have bunions on both feet is this caused by dropped arch or unrelated?
I think I have over pronation but it’s only in one foot but it really irritates me because it rules against the inside of my shoe. I’m really hoping to fix this so if anyone has any tip please let me know
omg i ive been dealing with knee muscle pain related to activity i love rock climbing mountain biking hiking back packing. worked on a trail and fire crew and had to drop all my hobies and carreer to work in a factory losing my mind and after 11 months of physical therapy dr visits mri’s they said they had no clue what was going on after finding these over pronation videos and playing with them things are getting better thank you!
@CIarKent 160 degrees. 160< the shoulder will be connected in a chain, that allows you to rotate the arm further.
Thank you for this, very informative! Could over pronation cause false curvature on my lower legs?
Is there a video for helping the hip from internally rotating? I love this! Thanks!
Hi guys, I don’t suppose you know of any podiatrists/health specialists following your approach in Ireland? Thanks
I have always wondered if the pain on my pinky toe and in the mid outside part of my foot comes from the force of supernation or from the initial footstrike on that side before my foot collapses leading to pronation. I plan to do the water test then go into the dr. office to confirm what I have.
i think I’ve had this problem my whole life in my left ankle and never knew why. i always thought i was out of shape. i started getting back into running recently doing about a mile a day if i can, and my left ankle (only) gets totally trashed. i can’t do more than a mile without significant pain on the outer portion of the ankle. i went out later just for a walk and felt the pain again, so i looked down and to my surprise, my left foot is tilted out by maybe an inch. i will try to consciously walk and run straight instead, it does feel weird walking without that small inch of pronation
Is it possible that someone’s tibia and fibula can simply be connected to knee in a manner that is somewhat offline and cause some of these problems? In my case, I do have some of these problems, but anytime I point my feet straight, my knee are turned in, regardless of what cue I’m given or what movement I try to achieve. Likewise, when I point my knees straight, my feet inevitably turn out. If I try to resist the turn, it feels like my knee is in trouble and could become injured. It’s pretty uncomfortable.
I also cannot sit in seiza. I don’t know if you’re familiar with martial arts, but in some parts, and in some cultures, people kneel down, curl their feet underneath them, and sit on their feet in this way. It’s used in yoga as well, and it’s often called seiza. When I try a similar position, I have to turn my feet out rather than in, or I have a lot of knee discomfort. In fact, if I was physically forced into the seiza position, I have no doubt my knees would snap like twigs under such intense isolated torsion.
I have no idea what my problem is because if I relax my foot normally it is an over pronation position but the heavy wear on my shoes and trainers does not support this. The wear on my left shoe is on the left side and vice versa.
ANTERIOR TILT causes the hips to rotate inward first, then knees to cave in, and over-pronation. If you have lower back pain it’s really worth checking if you have an anterior tilt. Forcing your feet in positions won’t fix the root cause if you have an anterior tilt, such as tight psoas muscles, weak glutes, etc.
I found out that the root cause for me was Achilles tendon inflexibility caused by tendonitis from working outdoors wearing very high, stiff boots for a long time. 10-15 mins/day of Achilles tendon & calf stretches, plus switching to barefoot shoes has helped a lot.
This is what I have and what’s happening for me. Thank you Eric. Your methods of explaining things so thoroughly are greatly appreciated.
Glad to see this now and wish I would have in my 20’s early 30’s. Your channel is so underrated. You’ll have a million subscribers one day for sure!
Hi there! there are not many podiatrists in Canberra, Australia who follow anything similar to your approach that I know of. Do you know any podiatrists/orthapaedic surgeons who follow your natural approach who live nearby in Canberra or in the NSW region of Australia? Thanks!
I don’t want my options for foot recovery to be limited to just orthotics so it would nice to find out if there is a healthcare provider nearby in my area:)
I’m wondering if over pronation could be contributing to some stability issues and pain I have in one of my knees. I noticed that when doing single leg deadlifts barefoot, my calve tightens and my knee sometimes caves inward. could this indicate a pronation issue? is there any self assessment technique you can recommend?
I play a lot of tennis, came down with plantar fasciitis in right foot, discovered I duck walk overpronated both feet in the past, now I duck walk both feet but overpronate on right foot where I got plantar. Internal hip rotation not good, but doing exercises about 3 weeks, gettin a little better, age 57. have had inner right knee soreness from problem. I will strengthen everything, not just hips, is moderate arch supports ok while playing tennis, I walk barefoot in house and will strenthen feet through exercises, have been doin one for strengthening arches as I need to stop collapse which probably led to the plantar, any thoughts?
I have abnormal supination thereof.
about 230 degrees total rotation. It makes me a fantastical figure skater.
Doctor,
Your knowledge and charisma are undeniable. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. May God bless you forever.
Very good explanation on shock and charge absorption in bones and articulations. I thought about something similar concerning a problem that I’m having especially on my knees. But in the las period it seems that my shoulder too has something strange, and I have little pain on my back too.
I think that femurs slip on the internal side, and this is causing bursitis over patellas in the upper and lateral side, in both legs. I thought that it is a normal response, under vertical charges, to preserve articulated quadrilateral kinematics of knee, even if there is a vertical strain.
Anyway I charged my body in both directions, in horizontal way too, pushing forward. When I rotate ankles I can hear some clicks, it seems on lateral side, and I can feel peroneal tendon sliding too much under the peroneal head.
Surely is a general problem due to strains in both directions.
how far down from the proximal end of the radius does the radius cross over the ulna in pronation?
I have high arches but I over-pronate. Following your tips but if you have more advice for high arches please share!
i was looking for the muscles involved in pronation and supination. Thank you:)
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I’ve always struggled to visualise the way the articulations happen internally and through the different planes. Something I will be watching over again frequently. Absolutely brilliant.
yes it is marvelous. even something as seemingly simple as our elbow is actually an amazing bit of…evolution/design/luck etc:). no matter how you look at it you cannot help but be impressed. humans have elbows and forearms that allow us to do things no other animal can do and it is this freedom that allows us to do everything that we do. the simple ability of being able to grab and hold an object and rotate it, and examine it easily gives us a huge opportunity other animals do not.
I’d love to illustrate something like that. Do you have any reference material or publications to share, regarding this? Otherwise I would merely be speculating, which I don’t want to do.
this video is essential for artists learning anatomy. which is every artist. suggest this to your creative friend and they’ll love you
out of all the therapists on youtube you are the only one that has actually explained my issue and how to fix it. Thank you. You have gained a subscriber.
Learning all of this in functional anatomy right now so glad I could follow along:) thanks for the video
Can you explain why I have all these syptoms (feet turned out, knees turned inwards collapsed arch) but when I look at my shoes they always worn down on the,,outside,, edge of my heel which would indicate my feet are inverting not everting?
Wow I’ve only been doing this for 2 days now and this video as well as one other one on internal rotation has dramatically improved my over pronation and collapsed arch that I’ve had for as long as I can remember. THANKYOU!!!
@ohfiggdi
Is not breaking bread more like supination because your thumbs go away from the middle?
This is the cause of my misery explained. Professionals can’t explain it and here is my answer. I think I had a collapsed arch as a boy and remember turning my right leg outwards, by the time I was in my 20’s I thought my right knee or leg was deformed because right knee pointed inwards when legs were together. I had callouses on top of toes of right foot but not the left. Now I’m 40 and can barely walk because of my right foot. It has affected my right knee, right hip and right shoulder. I’ve inflammation on my spine and sacroiliac joint. 7th month off work. I need help from someone who knows what they’re talking about. Right heel feels pulled inwards, toes all pointing inward
Me going into doctor for my knee being bent the wrong way
“Oh you’re fine”
This man fixed and explained it in 10 minutes.
@DrGlassDPM may i have your permission to take images from your video and print them in my dissertation? I’m a mechanical engineering design masters student focusing on designing a prosthetic ankle, it would be very helpfull?
Your explanation of the dysfunction is excellent but your explanation on how to fix is is really weak and bad.
Brilliant explanation. The doctors just think we are too dumb to understand all this.
Can I ask which app did you use for this video, I am an orthotics student and I need it to creat a project
I’m a little confused on where the fix for this problem is? I have this exact problem on the same side your demonstrating. Its causing me so many issues. I’ve never heard it explained so well. My problem is I dont know to address my feet ankle knee or hips i try all three but i get inconsistent because i dont have a really well laid out game plane. I’ll check out the link.
wow! tnx for the important info!!
i have pronation feet for many years and that’s explain so much!!
I think I’m an underpronator bc I looked at my shoes after a run on the track (the track is black, which colored the tan sole of my shoe), and the outside part of the heel was colored, but the inside part was unscathed. Also, and old habit of mine was to glance at my feet when I sprinted, and I saw that my feet were more at an angle where the inside of my feet were higher up than the outside. **hope I explained it well**
Oh my! You give THE BEST explanation and hope compared to anyone on YouTube! I’m finally hopeful to believe that I can be helped with my terrible feet!!! Thanks!
I went to 6 different doctors, made 2 Walking Analysis this year after suffering under shin Splints and you Made the best Video to explain and Help me!!! Thanks!
My feet have always stuck out to the sides and have sore knees! Would this be the cause if my bad knees?
can anyone please tell me if there is a surgery to correct this??
im 14 and starting track when i found out my achilles tendon when i went out to buy shoes, this is really helping too
I overpronate quite a bit. Still can hit 15:42 5k and 4:23 mile as a HS runner. However I think they might cause my shin splints so I wanna fix it good information!
First year DPT studentthese videos have just the right amount of detail and have helped me. Thanks! PS: the music is nice
Hello DrGlass, In 1980 my subtalar shattered like glass when the heel bone exploded after coming to an abrupt stop from a 30 foot drop. My reckless18 year old mind was not thinking of my 50 year old body. I am well beyond artritic pain and have given up on so called “pain killers”. My gait is so bad,if I was a horse, I would of been put down. Both hips were replace in 2010 from the years of not being in allignment. Yet I live a very active life. Not sure what I am asking of you, just saying hi
The video is excellent. But why is it called Over pronation and Supination. There is a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation on pronation to the point where some are positing that pronation is a pathology that should be constrained. Pronation became a talking point as a result of sports shoes with elevated (drop) and wide heels that greatly increased the length of moment arms acting through the STJ while altering joint accelerations associated with foot strike.
I’ve always worn shoes with rarely arch support nor supportive shoes in resulting to arch pain. I’m 24, I’ve never known about this but I pronate and now I wear stability shoes with medium arch insoles and I’ve not had any arch pain since
Can someone give me a timestamp to where he start the excerices?
Hi there. Thanks for the vid.. I over pronate. Flat feet.. Also walk inwards. Can you please provide me with a link for the exercises.
I wore arch supports as a child, but it never helped also experienced v painful feet and calves as a teenager..
Thanks again.
The ball of foot my foot behind pink toe consistently swollen on both feet. Is that over pronation related?
the outside of my forefoot wears, and the inside of my heel….. I’m lost
OMgosh… thank you so much for clarifying the differences of these for me… you explained it so well!
Hey i been doing the exercises and my knee and foot start to ache after is that pain normal?
Our brand new app ROM Coach is LIVE! Download it via one of these links:
Apple App Store: https://www.precisionmovement.coach/rom-ios
Google Play Store: https://www.precisionmovement.coach/rom-android
Actualy, I don’t mind music, I think it’s so (if I may say) cute:3
Thank you DrGlass so much for all videos, I feel so lucky to find them!
Thank you for excellent explanation of all this (and the link to the video for the exercise.)….. If the person had hyper extension in joints and pronation, would the video you linked to be the way to address it?
my legs including the foot is not bould so that the foot is inline with my knee, just how i af build.
I couldn’t get into The Marines with this. I will try again when WW3 starts. it’s my left arm and it looks normal and isn’t severe. They said if it was 2006, I would be a devil dog by now, but it isn’t and my dream got shat on. Wish there was a surgery for this.
This is so well done! It takes a very good understanding of a complicated matter like this to make anyone understand what it’s about. It’s what you just did for me, thanks!,
The thing is that the motion of the foot is related to the gait. Thus,, when there is a pronation of the rear foot, all the toes do not touch the ground. That rear foot pronation induces a front foot supination (due to the form of the talus). And supination induces a rise of the heel. Hence, it s not real to show the shock absorber role of the foot on a plan like that
I’m sorry it was distracting to you. When I was producing this video, it felt very bland and sterile, but with a gentle scoring, it seemed to be more “colorful” per se.
I tried to lower the volume so that it wouldn’t distract, but perhaps I should have made it lower down or a more even-flowing melody.
I am a footballer and I have a big problem in all my fingers as my fingers bent like the hawksbill and I can not juggling the ball Could the warp is why my fingers
I need major help. I’m an Athlete who exercises alot and on my feet for my sport. I have flat feet. And have had Plantar Fasciitis for the past 8 months now on one foot. However, I also seem to have bunion on that same left foot. My right foot seems fine. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to help with my pronation as I notice this also is what has caused my bunion. I wish to control or reverse this bunion issue. As well care for the Plantar Facsitis. What would you consider? I already bout open toe shoes, and massaging, and heating. I’m unsure whether to try What NBA players shoot up their for healing Plantar.
I love what you’re trying to do here, but i think the language was very confusing, and the explanations too long. I didn’t know if you were showing us the exercise in this video or if you were showing examples of how the feet move.
Makes for an easily communicated visual representation. When palms are facing the viewer, the ulna and radius are parallel to one another.
go to 1: 06 if you only want to see supination and pronation movement
I don’t understand how ulna can move around axis if it’s joint allows it to move like hinge. can somebody explain?
Really good video! Do you think bunions can be reason for overpronation? do you have any videos on how to prevent bunions? Thank you
Pronation/Supination occurs in the transverse plane, dont confuse people.
Thank you for your video. I’m actually going through the aftermath of a left forearm break in which the doctor did not suggest an appropriate course of action for fixing it. Now i have all of 45-55 degrees maximum supination which has prevented me from continuing my life as a mechanic and even completely prevented me from being able to play guitar anymore, as i can’t properly reach the strings without supination. This will help my family and workplace understand that i need surgery and that i may need to sue this doctor for malpractice.
Incarnation as human beings? That suddenly took a very unexpected turn
Do you have any tips people with ehlers danlos syndrome, what happens there maybe with the foot?
I broke these two bones in the middle and years later I still can’t fully turn my forearm. Why?
hello, i was wondering if your ankle mobility exercise would help re-align my ankles as well as fix my foot pronation. my ankles roll outwards from my feet a lot and i believe it is due to the over probation of my feet. thanks
It’s from sitting down too long. Sitting at a desk. Your leg being 90 degrees causes your calves to shorten and hamstring to tighten. Been through it.
i must go do some yoga.. sitting too long plus i have scoliosis, nice to have vids like this on youtube. i do my research watching stuff lol
Pronation/Supination occurs in the transverse plane about the vertical axis, not the sagittal plane.
You had better tell us that which muscles comes in superficial and deep compartment of the forarm.
Can eversion be caused by one leg being shorter than the other?
i actually have supination in my left arm, its a pain sometimes not being able to turn it over.
Thank you Coach, extra+ presentation of interdependence between foot, ankle, knee & hip for a pronated feet, what about a supinated feet? Any drills for that?
When I stand I roll my ankles outward and stand on them…. I thought it was normal
i use carrara and daz studio to create the models and their movement. then i use video programs to make the videos. i also make apps that allow you to zoom and rotate on 3d anatomical models.
both of my feet have normal arches. I get bad shin splints front and back after a few minutes of jogging. Is this caused by poor ankle alignment/ over pronation?
this my favorite foot mechanics animation in You Tube, thank you
thank you for your comments. this is one of my early videos. i am still learning.
great video. very informative. visual examples are must when learning anatomy.
Flat feet plus accessory navicular syndrome is a true torture.
This helped me to figure out why playing Bass or Classical Guitar causes left elbow pain, but playing steel string guitar does not. If only the three orthopedic doctors knew this information. I like how animated his speech gets when he describes the Down Dog asana. Yoga can greatly improve our quality of life and knowledge of your own body mechanics.
why say things in boring tone and not just say it? Waste my time
Great video! I have inside knee pain from running and overpronation. Should I use a stability shoe to fix it? Suggestions?
why cant i turn my left forearm all the way like normal people do, i never broken my hand either?
I think Ive developed flat feet from apt so my hip isnt internally rotating properly I think
Very true! With the pinched in big toe, I am very much an overpronator myself.
My feet fell victim to the malfunctional footwear and got damaged along the way of using female running shoes, conventional woman shoes and high heals. Et voilà, here is a patient for the so called health industry.
My left food already had surgery after years with wrong shoes and foot orthodics. Since coming across your valuable video-messages, I have now other plans with both my right foot and also my still healing left foot, where the metal parts still need to be removed in Summer. Yesterday, I received my first Altra running shoe with a healthy toe box and due to my dire finances need to wait for next month for also purchasing correct toes and later exchanging my socks into five ´finger` type socks.
Now, I am looking forward to the big difference of the combined healthy shoes and the correct alignment of my toes:-)
very educative! do you recommend a special shoe that will give us the ability for nature toe position?
After many years of pain and numerous injuries down my left leg (broken 5th metatarsal, torn ACL, meniscus tear, and cartilage damage….and now bone spurs in knee) I finally had a physical therapist tell me last week that I turn the left foot out and my pelvis is out of alignment making my left leg longer. No wonder I am always having issues with that leg….knee pain that runs all the way up to my lower back. I think there might be light at the end of the tunnel now that I know what really needs addressing.
I have the same problem, I just keep wearing away the outside of the heel. But about 2 years ago I bought a pair of “neutral” runners. While it’s long past time for a new pair, I still have plenty of tread on the heel and they are wearing evenly.
The shoes I have are called the Brooks Dyad 6. Without knowing I could actually buy comfy shoes they’re like walking on cloud 9 I thought I’d have to suffer sore feet and rapid wear forever. Ask specifically for “neutral” or “cushioned” shoes.
My right foot turns out. Right knee it band syndrome. Right hip is lower then left.
Does anyone know how to stop shoes from leaning inwards? I really don’t want to look crazy and I stay nervous walking in public
My foot always turns in /: I’m getting surgery or something to fix it in November wish me luck:)
Should I stop wearing my arch support insoles then? I have the Provision 4 from Altra so it has the guide rail but I also put in my insoles. Im still testing them but should I stop using the insoles?
Ive been starting to walk fairly long distances. 6 miles minimum to 10 miles about 3 or 4 times a week. So I really want to do whats best for my feet for when I start jogging.
Love the new intro/outro music. You guys do a real public service with all these videos. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
im a personal trainer and you definitionally helped me with helping him out
needed to see a visual of this so i could understand how exactly the radius moves over the ulna in pronation. this video is so helpful thank you
Very informative video. Wonderful job. Please do continue with other topics.
Is it a Physic Ed teacher a good person to look at this? or a orthopedist is better?
Good information, but probably the longest 11 minutes on YouTube
Hello to you too, Watkins. Nice to meet you, (vertically speaking). Calcaneus fractures are a devastating injury. There is a thankless recovery and most of the time it is never “well”. I’m sorry you’ve lived with this as long, but regular use of pain mess is not a good way to live day to day either. Have you visited a foot and ankle specialist in recent years? It may be time to discuss surgery if nothing else has worked so far, unfortunately.
I’ve have under pronation and you get through any shoes so f-in quick!
