If you’ve made dramatic changes to your diet and exercise routine, you may feel the effects of weight loss within a week. You usually notice that you’ve lost weight far sooner than other people. In general, however, many people can see results in one to two weeks when they stick to their plan. When Weight Loss Becomes Noticeable There are many different factors that affect how fast you’ll see exercise or diet results. Unfortunately, there is no clear-cut.
Seeing weight loss results from working out can take time. Depending on how much weight you have to lose, weight loss may be seen on the scales within a few weeks. However, that may not translate into getting a six pack in a few weeks. Seeing muscle.
Depending on your lifestyle and dietary intake, it could be as little as a week before you notice weight loss. It’s likely to be a bit longer than that for most people, though. The amount of time required to notice weight loss depends on various thing.
How Long It Takes Other People to Notice Your Weight Loss June 4, 2020 January 5, 2017 by mrskinnypants I’m starting to learn more about women’s struggles with weight loss and I’ve found a question that comes up repeatedly: when will other people notice my weight loss? Then, by having study participants draw headshot pairs and note which face looked heavier to them, the researchers calculated the magic number when. One pound of body fat equals about 3,500 calories. So, over seven days, a deficit of 500 to 1,000 calories a day yields a weight loss of about 1 to 2 pounds a week. When you cut too many calories, however, the body senses a potential famine and tries to conserve your fat stores.
Though weight loss may occur faster at the start of a program, experts recommend a weight loss of 1–3 pounds (0.45–1.36 kg) per week, or about 1% of your body weight. Also, keep in mind that.Traditional Nutrition philosophy will tell you that you can determine exactly how much weight you will lose with a simple calories in vs. calories out formula. The idea is that if you are in a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day, then you will achieve one pound weight loss per week. There are quite a few factors to determine how long it takes to see weight loss results. But when do people usually notice weight loss?
With most weight loss diet plans, you should notice some results within 1 to 2 weeks. Here are factors which determine the.So the answer to “how long does it take to notice weight loss” really depends on: Who is noticing – you or other people. Your starting weight and how much weight you’ve lost.
How close to your ideal weight you are. Now, you’re looking at a measurable result of more than 1 lb. in as little as a week. Like exercise intensity, the duration of your athletic pursuit influences calories burned.
Now, you’re looking at a measurable result of more than 1 lb.Some effects are felt almost immediately whereas other can take 4-6 weeks to become apparent (the time frame for the medication to reach therapeutic level/maximum effectiveness) The weight loss/appetite reduction effect of Wellbutrin doesn’t occur at all in some people. But the simple, general answer is that weight loss in itself begins in the first week of a keto diet. Most people who begin the diet see a very sudden loss of weight, which can be up to 10 pounds, but this isn’t the actual weight that they want to be losing. Instead, this.
If you weigh yourself less often, you are more likely to see bigger changes on the scale. If you weigh once a week, you will see the total number of pounds lost over seven days, but if you weigh every day you will only see small changes. This makes it feel like you are only slowly losing weight.

This is awesome. I just started seeing a personal trainer about three weeks ago, and started their meal plan two weeks ago, and I have been feeling like a failure because I haven’t lost 20 pounds already. I am happy I found your video, thank you.
I’m going into my 7th week of running. Im working towards 10k run. Almost did 7k in week six. This is from a running program which uses interval training.
I feel stronger, especially my legs, but I HAVEN’T LOST ANY WEIGHT!!! I’m getting so impatient. I also started counting calories this passed week and am now starving. Still haven’t LOST ANYTHING!!!! I’m angry and hungry and getting so impatient. I want TO SEE RESULTS, thought I’d have at least lost 5 lbs by now. I’m going to measure everything and start tracking that, cause I’m sick of this
Thanks! I have just started doing and at home workout bc of quarantine. now I know what to expect and eat!
Hiii.. I’m 25 y, 66kg, 157 cm… I work out and eat at a calorie deficit (1300ish calories).
I saw my waist losing a few inches in the first 2 weeks.. Now It’s been 6 weeks… Nothing has changed since then Any idea why?
Hi I have just started on a healthy diet with green healthy smoothies but when I get on my scales it goes from whieght lose but then it goes back and forward it don’t go any further up and down I am confused please let me know if I am going wrong some where many thanks Mary
This video is so accurate on explaining what it actually feels like sticking to the work outs and being on some what a diet and losing weight.
So i only diet wich i created my self so basically no junk food, no added sugars, no potatoes, minimising food portions, eating less in a day, avoiding white bread and it’s the 5 week and i lost only about 3 kg:( sadly i can’t exercise cause I’m too tired after school and I’m just always tired.
Thats not true im 2 weeks in doing my best following with a professional, yet I have gained some weight, lost some of it, gained again ♀️ don’t expect perfect results sometimes your body needs time to adapt. Especially if you had a lower calorie diet before starting.
I’ve been eating clean for a month (also counting calories) and exercising different groups every day and yet there has been absolutely no change. So I am definitely confused and demotivated now.
Don’t set goals cause you’d just lose all that mental motivation after you reach that goal and you might fall back where you came. Find something you enjoy doing that also contribute dearly to your health.
I didn’t feel it answered the title It was like asking how long is a piece of string? The title was a bit misleading. I’ll watch some more of your videos as I’m sure they will be very informative.
I’m on week 3 of working out 6 days a week while eating around 1,300 calories a day and I feel as though I see no changes. It’s super discouraging and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. It’s a struggle for mentally to continue when I don’t feel I look any different.
I’m going into month 3, when I started I could barely walk a mile in 24mins. I RAN a mile in 11mins today and I noticed my pants are getting loose and I’m really excited now!!! If you struggling just keep going!!! You can do it!
Is it okay if I just eat Apple and banana like the whole day?
I’ve been dieting and working out and I’ve tried so hard but it’s been a month and a half and I haven’t lost anything or seen any results I’m really fed up can u tell me why it’s not working? ;(
Y do i love this dude now na but fr thanks for this it just motivated me more. Im 16 and just finished my first week at the gym. I started monday and today is saturday. Sunday is my off day. Im doing 2 miles a day on a elliptical and doing muscles too. Im 16 years old, 5’10 1/2 and 220 lbs. i eat about 1,800 calories a day. Do u think this is good and that it’ll help me lose about 40 pounds in a the next 4 months? Im not eating healthy tho but im gonna start doing it soon. Im going to the store tomorrow to buy some chicken and fish and hopefully i get those week 3 compliments just to motivate me more. Thanks again dawg this video was motivational asf:)
Yoooo why you leave the shoes on when weighing yourself? We all know those shoes gonna add 35 pounds to the scale.
What about for people who end up gaining and also gaining inches when working out and eating good? I’m heading the opposite direction, and don’t know why.
But for this to happen how many times a week do u need to exercise? And for how long?
I lost about 20 lbs since I went to school so I’m wondering if people will see a difference tomorrow when I go back
I can’t stick to a diet but I really want to lose weight can I just lose weight by working out daily?!
This was extremely helpful and motivating for me…I needed to hear these tips. Thank you!!
Hell no, it ain’t linear. I am 15 years old and I weight around 205lbs and I’m only 5’10. The reason I bring my weight up is because I was 180lbs 3 months ago. COVID messes me up and cause me to binge eat + gain all my weight back. I plan on going vegan and starting an IF routine. I’m also going to work out as much as possible over the next few weeks.
Hey! I lost 180 lbs from 2016 to the end of 2017, since 2018 it’s been very Yo-Yo. I’m mad at myself right now. Any tips for the psychological pat of sticking to a deficit or anything? can you reply here or make a video about the psychology part of eating junk food/fast food/binging? MyFitnessPal app or LCHF is great and all but if one can’t tackle the mental aspect, it seems like a losers game.
Perfect, absolutely practical answer!! I can totally relate what you said. I started my training again and i ll try my best to keep going!!
This video came at such a good moment for me! Thank you so much
P.s. I really enjoy your video they give me so much motivation
“Love This Latest Video! As Always It’s Very Warm And Informative! You’re The Best”
i’ve been intermittent fasting and doing daily exercise since january 2020 and i’ve lost 15 pounds:)
Nobody ever added a pound of muscle in a week or probably even a month
Summary: guys it will take a lot of time to lose fat but at first you will lose fat fast but then it’ll slow
I know I am loosing weight but some of my pants that I bought smaller still feel tight even though a lady at my church said she can see I loosing “Alot”of WIEGHT. I feel even though I am working out at home, gym and walking at least once a week my caff muscles still looks fat just smaller and toned can you give me advice for this?
I’m a kid 12 to be exact so how long would it take me
Don’t have much fat just around 2 pounds
Thank u so much man just listening to this put a smile on my face
How do you get past plateaus? Ive lost about 40 pounds so far. I’ve been stuck at 230 pounds for 2 months and while I’m continuing my diet and workout routine, I have stopped seeing the change I originally was stoked on.
I’m gonna stick with it until I lose all the weight(I ain’t messing around) but any advice for breaking this 2 month plateau that’s making me go crazy?
That swoosh sound gave me anxiety, then all I could think about was when the sound was going to come again.
Great video Brian I totally relate to this…i around 4 months ago discovered I love Starbucks coffee not realising how many calories were in them…having 1 daily over the span of months sure puts the weight on and by me changing my habits I can sure loose it back again:) keep it up mate! I miss the short hair though
Did keto and zero carbs and workout and fasting and cardio for 2 months didn’t lose weight so I gave up this time am going to do it for 4 months
I wanted to get lean and ripped. I was already muscular but I had no definition and a little bit of a belly. I thought 10-15 lb was going to be good. Boy was I wrong. I dropped 20 pounds and it was my arms, shoulders, chest, legs, face, and everything else except my lower stomach and love handles that really lost weight. Now I’m at 25 pounds lost and my lower stomach and love handles are finally getting smaller smh. My cardio was really good before I started losing weight (5k in 21 minutes). Idk maybe that made it so I lost less weight
Why the hell is my weight still the same but my clothes fit better? Am I doing something wrong?
9 months late…but can honestly say this is one of the most helpful videos I’ve ever seen
I’ve been lifting weights properly and also had a good diet plan, I started out at 183 probably around 23% body fat. I’m not 152 around 14% body fat and I cannot burn that lower belly fat haha it goes away so slowly but you have to have patience because sculpting your body takes time. There is no “fast way “ to lose belly fat it takes time commitment and dedication.
Thanks mate, came here looking for tips for upcoming cut. Excellent
I started counting calories because I wasn’t eating enough
Okay but this is an amazing video. So motivating. This video is not getting enough recognition like damn
I hope technology advance to the point where everybody can afford a machine where it scans your body and tells you what percentage fat you’ve lost or how much you have. Much like a scale that tells you lbs but much more than that. It would be very motivational and helpful.
well you say that after 4-8 weeks diet it’s better to do a reverse calorie increase for a week. now the question is how to increase the calorie in that one week time frame?
It’s been a month n I lost only 2kg. M little motivate with this video
Gotta look at it like this. It didn’t take you 3 months to gain 60 pounds so it ain’t gonna take 3 months to lose it
Can you talk about skinny fat people should we cut and how much should we eat?
Brian, one of my resolutions was to get back in shape. This is helping. So far, in about 3 weeks, i’ve lost 11 pounds. This video has got me on the right track. Thanks for the encouragement, bro.
If you are already in a caloric deficitand and you go to the gym should you replace the calories lost at the gym?
You covered a lot of really important points and set realistic expectations. Good job.
Something sooo many people need to hear! What you touched on about adherence with slower progress is a huge factor that so many crash dieters fail to see! Great video:)
I know you’re off Accutane now, but it has lowered my sex drive & I was wondering if there is any advice?
It irritates me that you don’t have more subscribers!
Love your videos Brian!
Keep being yourself! You have an impact in MY life and in others!
Thanks for reassuring me about weight gain and muscle gain! I’ve been dieting and exercising the last month or so but not really losing ‘weight’. I never really thought about this, so thank you for explaining!
This is the kinda stuff I wish I knew starting my fitness journey
great vid, Man!!! Didnt know that even stress can tricker your body in to holding waterweight, that really explain a lot in what happening to me.
the myth that muscle is much more dense than fat is debunked
The self promos are fucking excessive annoying just get to the content
Do you think it’s better for fat loss to have one cheat meal per week or to have slightly higher calories overall and full consistency?
I just want to lose 10 lbs, and it’s incredibly difficult. I’ve been dieting and working out (lifting weight and cardio) for the last 4 months, and weight is fluctuating so much.
Im a pretty healthy weight (127) I just simply want to loose stomach fat and even if I loose weight I’ll still be a healthy weight
I’m just sad I’m not living in america or near, all my favorite youtubers will be there:(
squad woot woot, another high quality vid bro,btw the crane is fire
As always… Great video Brian. But….. The whole time I was just distracted by the fruits in the trees behind you!!! Haha I just wanted to pick them! Was this your backyard?
Hey Brian, I know this has nothing to do with diet or body building, but I just wanted to tell you that I have been struggling with acne for 2 years now. Most of my spots are white heads or just little red bumps, but I’ve had them all over. Just about 2 months ago my skin was relatively clear, and recently my skin hasn’t been the best. I just wanted to tell you that you have really helped me cope with it. I have been depressed because of it lately and really embarrassed to go out in public, but you have shown that the little people in this world who treat others differently because of whatever they have to go through on a daily basis don’t matter. You’ve inspired me to be less insecure about myself and not care if someone stares at me out in public or any of that. Thank you so much man, you are such a great person.
This is so true! I used get so discouraged by the fact that i was eating healthy and weight training and I would gain weight or maintain my weight, not understanding that my body was changing in a positive way. If I stuck with it, i would have seen a lot of postive gains. There is no instant fix. It took years or months to gain fat and will take time to lose the weight and gain muscle.
Are you guys doing YouTube House again this year? Will you invite Gracie’s Journey along?
Lmao was the pic in the thumbnail from the 10k calorie carb load challenge? Funny.
I love this video… as I started to feel discouraged, you helped me lift right back up.
Such a good video man, I remember when I dropped my calories down to 700 a day for months and months and wasn’t losing any weight, just because my metabolism was soooo slow! So glad to be losing weight now with a lot of calories
I’m 5’3 115lbs I obviously don’t want to lose weight but I want to lose fat so my abs can show, how many grams of fat should I be eating per day? I love nuts, nut butters, and avocado so I’m struggling… Today Im already at 53grams just from breakfast and lunch:/
confused wake up in the morning I’m 197 I will have a good workout I fast and I weigh myself before I take a shower and I’m like 193 what’s my real weight confused
Currently on my weight lose journey start December 17th at (126.5 kg 279 pounds), now its Jan 21st and I am 113.5kg or 250 pounds, so 13kgs or 29 pounds in 1 month so far and I have to say its been pretty dang easy besides the start. At the start (17th) I immediately tried to go down to a 1800 cal diet or so but you get these cravings to just stuff your face with junk food and I wont lie I indulged more than a few times but once it came to the 2nd of jan the cravings just stopped and I am just loosing weight left right and center. All I can say is now even when I eat like 4 small potatoes or something along those lines I cant even put more food into my mouth because I am too full, I feel my body has already adapted to my new eating style and I can just remember before scoffing down a big ass steak some veg and a giant portion of rice. ENOUGH RAMBLING I just want to say to anyone else trying to lose weight that it takes piss all time to kick the cravings and I cant believe I didnt do this sooner with how much weight I am loosing. Also going for a 1.5 hour walk every second day helps too. See you guys in 5 months when I am fit fingers crossed:)
I’m so late. But I just have seen this video. Thanks for the tips man
wish I had a chance to meet you at fit expo LA flying to Miami for the weekend for work watching this at the airport line is long
I think this is a very important video, especially at this time of the year! The sheer positivity you bring to this channel is amazing. The knowledge is great too, a must watch channel!
Thank you so much for posting your awesome videos! It’s because of you that my husband is willing to try veganism then 100% since January 1st and Eternity to go:-) Thanks so much and keep posting videos for us we love you
Sleep is the number one factor,,,
Me: ok good nite everyone..
Thank you Jessica, was really feeling discouraged. I love the plant analogy!
Thank you, God damn it! I’m starting to lose motivation for not getting any result for almost 2 months.
Oh no! its not easy and that is why when it is accomplished people feel confident. I dont want to quit this time
I’m 6′ tall and started at 270 and now I am at 217 and I still think I look the same as when I started.
I’m a mechanic and I’m constantly moving tyres and fitting tyres and during the night I go to the gym after work and I eat not that much tbh but I’m constantly moving about
I’ve done 123 days straight so far. Atleast 18 hrs a day. I’m down 31 lbs. Might not seems like a lot but I’m a tall ectomorph that gains mostly in my midsection/upper body. I still have a ways to go to get the flat stomach I want. I also do weight training and sprinting a couple days a week. IT’S A MARATHON, NOT A RACE and it’s a lifestyle, not a diet
Are you suppose to pair keto with the IF? Or just smaller portions and healthier eating?
A very sound down to earth answer as usual Jessica. I agree completely with the practice of keeping moving as much as possible throughout the day. This is what I do all the time. Following a schedule strictly I think will depend on the individual’s level of fitness. I can mix up all kinds of workouts on one day but I’m always full of energy for the next day. My problem has always been with sleep. I spend 9 hrs on my bed at night but I wake often and sometimes lie awake for up to 2 hrs. I’ve tried all the suggested ways of getting more sleep but none have worked. Fortunately I always get up early, feeling bright and full of energy, so I try not to let it worry me anymore.
Hi Jessica I am a 42 yr old lady and would like to know if I stick to exercising at home 30 mins a day (5 days a week) and discontinue my walking (since I do not find the time to go out and walk) will that help me reduce and ofcourse adding on to a healthy diet plan. Please guide
I enjoy your presentation. I was already informed on this particular subject however I am interested in seeing more of what you have to offer. Thank you.
I have to loose 21kg (42?lbs). I tried to do what I did 2 years ago, that is daily 6km runs with 10km special days 1-2 times a week (not a big deal for my lungs, heart hurt a bit when I was going too fast but had no problems running that long at slower speeds), but turns out my ankles were like “NOPE” and decided not to support me anymore. At this point I will take any help I can get.
Thank you for this video! Great tips, and a lot of very helpful advice. The only downside for me is I’m a mother of a 8 month old, so being “sleep deprived” is just an accepted way of life right now.
Jessica!!!! I love your videos! Happened to stumble across one of your fitness videos the other day… And I am hooked! I love your approach… You are so real and down to earth and so knowledgeable. Thank you for all your hard work!!!! I just love your channel!!! Keep up the great work! And your dogs are adorable!!!!!
May have watched this after the fact, but realized #1 is definitely my problem Sitting at a desk all day is really getting me.I went back to work 4 years ago and I’ve gained 20 lbs. (Seems to be the story for everyone in my office.)I love your workouts and have been religious about doing one or two 5 to 6 days a week. Now I just need to find ways to move more during the day.
love your third tip because i am always sleep deprived and now that i think about it, it is actually true that i eat more when i lack sleep… i am doing your apple shape program and its working perfect for me… i started in june and from 178 lbs im at 164 lbs now thank you so much jessica! it is true that it takes a lot of patience when you try to lose weight:) thank you so much again )
Thank you Jessica! I just found your channel and I love every video I’ve seen so far! I have been quite frustrated lately as I turned 30 I noticed that my knees are getting weaker so I must turn to alternative workouts. Thank you again!!!
This is really good advice. I am really enjoying watching your Q&A videos and my husband is too. I really like your down to earth sensible advice. I certainly feel happier as well as looking great.
Reaching a “plateau” what does this mean scientifically? Why do we get them? How do we get through them?
After having two kids and my own business to run I felt myself slowly gaining weight without even realizing it my weight was just BAM there! I had gained about 40 pounds what seemed like overnight. I was horrified I remember crying to my husband who also had gained weight right along side of me It was months of me being so despondent and crying that we talked about getting a treadmill. We bought one and I started using it every day while watching T.V I honored my treadmill (didn’t use it to hang cloths off of) Paired with my husbands now new healthier cooking the weight came off I too fluctuate and fine myself having gained some weight back over this past winter but that’s okay, I wont beat myself up as I did before, life is too short for that. I recognize it and know what I have to do to get back to where I am comfortable. Thanks Jessica for sharing your story with us I truly enjoy your workouts and have been doing them for a long time now. Love the Kickboxing one and the Belly Buns and Thigh walk.:)
You, your workouts and your advice are absolutely awesome. I stumbled on your workouts about 2 weeks ago and have been exercising with you and peanut ever since!!!! Thanks Jessica!!!
I need help with nutrient timing but I can’t get your program. Can you do a video about the specific things in your program for those who can’t get it. Also why is that no one uses examples of specific food, that would help to
Hi Jessica as a psychologist I read a lot of research and really appreciate that your advice is based on solid research. Your advice has been so helpful to me with getting me back into shape, along with your amazing workouts. Keep up the amazing work you are doing!!!! Thank you again
Thanks for the pep talk. I needed this and feel like you were talking to me. I feel a difference in the way my jeans are fitting; but no difference on the tape measure. I will stick with this. Thank You
I love how you give advice!! It’s so thoughtful and caring. ♡ Thank you for your workout sessions! I know I appreciate my two workout partners from you and Peanut! For me, I know I must lower my addicted sugar intake! Thank you again Jessica!:))
how do i know when i am no longer a beginner? i started following the workouts 6 weeks ago and already have results, should i go for more intense workouts?
Well done! You are such an inspiration! Thank you for your down to earth wisdom and encouragement.
If you have heatlh Issues like fibro and Siatica joint pain are there Limations to Excerising me myself I do alot of Yoga Stetching im not a big eater and snacking I have my Limits so why my weight is at a stand still by the way I do drink my water also
Thank you for those tips I know that I’m guilty of not sleeping enough, because I always go to bed way too late. I also will remember that even an hour in the gym can’t ballance a sedentary lifestyle because maybe it is not the workouts that I need to increase, but the rest of my day that I need to make more active.
P.S.: I like that you are facing the camera more directly now for the Q&A’s.
I’m on my 2nd week of IF and I don’t really lose weight lol:((( it makes me feel so bad and idk what should i do anymore:/
Wow what a great video. Great tips. Great analogy regarding a seed being planted underground. I’m a gardener and I can truly relate to that. I’m so glad I found your channel. I would love to share your Join our #FITIN15 Weight Loss Challenge! on my blog this Thursday/Friday @ http://yo-yoeatingnomore.blogspot.com/2015/01/115-its-gotta-go-my-tummy-that-is.html. I’m loving it and I’m sure others will as well. Even though we are a week in. Thanks.
My biggest problem is emotional eating…im only 125lbs but I look fat bc its all in my butt & thighs…it drives me insane but with kids, I have snack food around, & I have a sweet tooth, I’ll even eat a handful of chocolate chips, its not good…sometimes I find it pointless to exercise if im eating crap food…was exercising for awhile there but bc of my eating, I quit, now,2months later, I’ve been at it for 6 straight daysyesterday was an active rest day which I spent dressed in snowsuit playing outside with my kids…I need more willpower to eat healthier…its hard though when I have this crap in the house!
Hello Jessica, I loved this video and I’d like to have your permission to use it as English langauge teaching material on my blog ( http://noorasenglishclass.blogspot.com). Of course, there will be a link to your You Tube channel. Thanks!
Just found you last night, I’d been working out AGAIN for the past few weeks. Ive been doing kickboxing every day for about 15-25 minutes a day but recently discovered I need to do strenght traing also. I went on youtube and found you! Your 30 minutes of weight training had me sweating more than my kickboxing routines lol. I’ve subscribed to your channel and will be following you from now on….but just one question, should I be doing 5 days of cardio and 2 of strength or should I rest somewhere in betwee?
Thank you so much for your honest and common sense approach to fitness! I love the seed analogy. I had cancer 7 years ago (go survivors!) And went from a healthy weight to less than 110 pounds. I am 5 foot 7 seven and I was shocked at how many people assumed I had deliberately dieted to reach what was for me an extremely unhealthy body. I finally understood that those last ten pounds just might possibly be healthy! Now I look forward to lifelong fitness and I am grateful for your attitude.
I love your videos they are full of really good information and the workouts are fun too iv got a question, I usually do an hour exercise in the morning then another half an hour before dinner, is it good to space exercises out like this or is it better to do it all together??
5 years ago I had carpal tunnel surgery and then a year later had de quervain’s surgery (like carpal tunnel in the thumb) on the same hand. Even after PT I have not had the strength and flexibility in my hand. It makes lots of exercises like push ups, planks or anything that requires I put my hand flat on the floor and hold up my body weight painful or I am just not able to do them. Do you have any thoughts on what to do to adapt some of these exercises so that I can still get the benefits?
Can you make a video on bulking like calories, cardio wise?
My question is regarding calories burned and whether you can eat them back or not. I read you should not if you do not workout and stick to 1200 calories, but if you workout intensely you can eat up to 1400 calories. Some days I only burn 150-220 calories, does that mean I should stick to 1200 on those days also, or what range of calories is considered ‘intense’?
You are such a breath of fresh air in the fitness industry with all the “snake oil salesmen” and “lose weight without effort” lies out there.
Thank you

I am a fully raw vegan. How many calories should I be consuming on a daily basis? I know you have to eat more fruits and veggies to get the calories in, but stuffing myself is not where it’s at. Some fully raw vegans eat up to 2000-2500 calories. I can’t do that. It’s way too much. Any advice?
Hi! I love watching and doing your videos since I found you through SparkPeople. I’ve just noticed your 5 minute fixes and I think they’ll be perfect for me both in order to fit them in between other things throughout the day or when I don’t have a lot of time, and also just due to the fact that I have a lot of trouble sticking with an exercise if I get bored, so those are perfect. One question I was wondering about though is in regards to workout shoes. How important is it to wear shoes during your workout? I’d imagine that the higher the impact the better it is to wear shoes in order to protect your knees, but should you always wear shoes? Other than for things like yoga?
Thanks
Thanks for this new episode, I learned a lot! I need to work on your first advice, I have to find a way to be more active when I spend my day at the office.
Ack, number 1 is absolutely where I’m failing. I’ve been keeping up a steady exercisebeen sticking with it for almost three months now! Unfortunately my job requires me to sit all day, so that’s probably part of what is working against me results-wise. I’ve been considering making my desk a standing desk if I can… maybe that’ll help!
Hey Jessica, I am doing a ‘Jessica Smith’ workout everyday! (only because you have such a great variety of workouts and they are all fun) I am feeling great and have told all my girlfriends to get onto your channel. Thanks for being such a fantastic motivator. I am very glad to have discovered your dvds/Youtube channel. Keep up the outstanding work!
Jessica, yet again a very informative Q&A. You rock! My Wed Q&A question is…How can a pushup newbie build up to a big boy pushup on toes? I can do modifieds on knees easily but after that…I’m done lol. Thank you!
Hi Jessica! Thanks for such eye-opening info. I love your seed comparison! So true and I’ll keep it in mind. I have a question I’m hoping you can help me with. My employer is implementing a new benefit for 2015..up to a $400 reimbursement of the cost of home fitness equipment (cool, right?!). I’m leaning toward an elliptical machine as I already have a treadmill and exercise bike (sadly used for folded laundry). Can you give me any ideas on how to incorporate fitness equipment into your workout rotations? I love working out every day with you (and Peanut!) and don’t want to miss that but would like to get some use out of my other equipment, maybe later in the day. Thanks a bunch and have a happy day!:)
Are those really the northern lights??:O
Or is it that it just looks like aurora lights? lol
You offer great information BUT please check or invest in a better mic. It is very difficult to hear what you are saying. Thank you so much
Jessica,
My wife has been doing your videos for about 2 months. Along with eating really well she has lost two inches off her waist already and is super motivated. Big thanks and keep it up.
Thanks for your very practical and sensible advice. When it comes to fitness and weight loss, we would all do better if we kept our feet on the ground (literally!) and our heads out of the clouds.
Love these Q&A Wednesdays, always such great tips & suggestions! Thank you so much for being such a caring person & sharing your time, hard work & knowledge with us.
Hi Jessica, thanks for another interesting #QandAWed! After working out with you now regularly for 1 year, I can see and feel the results for sure. I wasn’t looking for weight loss, but rather to improve overall wellbeing, so I also started to make more healthier choices (but without giving up on pizza and chocolate:)); I can’t say how long it took to see first results, but it worked. It also encouraged hubby to join me with healthier life style and now, looking back, we’re in much better shape (not just talking about weight/size, but also health!) than we have been 1 year ago. Thank you for your help in that journey!
I’ve exercised with you off and on since finding your videos on youtube & your website 7 months ago. Of ALL the fitness goddesses and workouts I’ve done over the decades, YOU, Jessica Smith, are my fav. I knew I liked your workout style, but now I’ve watched the last 2 Q&A Wed videos, and find I really like your overall style of delivering useful information as well. Keep it up; you’re awesome!
I love the way you explain so much clarity no confusion thankyou
I really appreciate the focus on how one feels. Its hard not to get caught up in how many calories burnt and so on. This is such a positive HEALTHY message in today’s hyper focused world on results and only feel good when you are already “there”.
I liked the pop-up sounds. They make me look at the screen and read the words. The extra stimulus helps me process the info.
Autumn, I’ve been intermittent fasting for 131 days now. At least 18 hrs a day plus working out. I’m a ectomorph that has the most problems with my stomach. What can I do or can there be a special way to eat to target that area mostly? I know there’s no such thing as spot reducing but I’m sure u know what I mean
Wow, kind of hard to listen to what you are saying when all I see are hands and arms flapping all over the screen. Sorry but it is distracting.
This video is bomb!!! Appreciate all the work and evidence based info you put into your videos!
At the end of the day, its always total calories consumed that is paramount to weight loss. If your TDEE is 2000 calories a day and your consuming 2200 calories a day on IF you will gain weight Period….
i lost like 4 pounds in 1 week i’m 17 years old btw. I started at 130 i’m currently at 126 currently at 124.6 my goal is 115
I have been intermittent fasting (20h fasting ) for a month and a week. I am already down 5kg.
After 21 days of IF everything happened except the last belly fat and love handles
I’m just starting out with IF, so this is so helpful. Thank you!
Watch it 0.75 x speed you’ll thank me later or if u wanted faster put it 1.25x:)
Do you have any advices on Keto diet plus intermittent fasting..
Is it just me, I have your music playing but I. Ant hear you speaking
Why can’t I hear the audio during this video? The other videos are working well.
I love the way she explains things and gives good info. Thanks
Hi Autumn, I am loving your videos. You are so passionate and that’s what I love! My husband and I are about to start our fasting journey and I was wondering what is best time of day to weigh yourself? Also should you weigh yourself every day?
You talk hellllla fast..slow down please and your pop up sound is super annoying
Is there a best time to have your eating window? Like, is it best to skip breakfast or dinner for best benefits?
I liked this vedio becoz u r showing the real results so that i like to subscribe ur channel mam
ive been fasting for over a month… I completely stopped losing weight the past 2 weeks its really fucking depressing because this is the first thing that worked for me ever.
Thank you so much! This was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I’ve been eating healthy and doing HIIT cardio for about six weeks and it’s been kicking my butt, however, I’ve seen no changes on the scale or measurements. I work from home and am now realizing that I am sedentary for the rest of the day and it’s just not enough! Thank you so much, I’m going to implement this asap!:)
My question is the last time I ate was 11 in the morning the next time I can eat is 2 in the morning isn’t it so bad to eat late and sleep
Sticking with a plan that you know works? What if you don’t know what works…ijs
I’m a 17.5 st lard arse and just started fasting today. 30 minutes gone, only 15.5 hours to go and I’m already clucking like a smackhead.
What a great Q&AWed video! Thank you for all your advices!!! I have a question, if you want to answer it on a next Q&A: How and why exercise helps with problems in menstrual cycle and PMS? I had problems with my menstrual cycle and my doctor told me that exercise will help me with my stress and my hormone balance. Also told me to avoid over-exercising because this can lead to adverse effects. So, about a year ago, I found your channel and started working out with you regularly. After all these months, I noticed that I don’t have cramps anymore, my cycle is more stable and I feel better in general. Thank you very much.:)
The audio sound when anything pops up on the screen is really annoying.
Also you basically speak only from the left channel (left speaker), which seems little odd.
Nevertheless I liked the content, thanks for this video and all the info:)
Question for anyone who has been doing IF for a long time: During my feeding window (I am doing 16/8 or 18/6 every day depending upon how I am feeling), should I be tracking my macros and calories for best results?
Thanks in advance for responding!:)
I am 5 feet 2 inches and 55 kgs, I have two kids age 8 and 5 and I have been doing intermittent fasting for 8 months. It’s become a very normal part of my day. But I don’t seem to be burning the fat on my belly. Do you have any tips on how I can achieve that?
Will you do any videos on dry fasting? I’d be happy to see those as well ❤️
I hate to unloke videos. I unliked this. I subscribed to you too. The audio was louder in one. I dont feel you answered the title. It was misleading
I wish someone would Photoshop fat you and fat Jon Venus together hahahaha
Laura, can you make a video about tools to use to increase adherence to diet, dealing with cravings on a calorie restricted plan and binge eating? I have issues with sticking to my meal plan. My body almost goes into auto pilot and I’m not in the drivers seat anymore.
Ok-I’m eating vegetarian-but limiting my dairy to a little cheese and occasional yogurt. So, what would be your macro-suggestion and what foods for at least 125g of protein in under 2800 cal??? Help anyone??
I started diet and workout. Its been 2 weeks
My weight hasn’t gone down, its the same but I can see I have lost some inches and started to see some veins but the weight scale won’t change.
Also my strength has increased rapidly
So am I doing something wrong or it’s just my muscle building as fast as I’m losing fat?
Please tell me what should I do
Hi Autumn
I just started alternate day fasting.
I put half a lime in my water in the mornings just because I have been doing it for years.
Does this kick me out of ketosis?
I have been intermittent fasting (16 hour fasting) for two weeks. I am already down over 3 kgs and I feel minus 10 kgs.
Thanks you. I’m 4 weeks in and lost 5 lbs. I’m trying to loose weight I gained while I was sick. Goal is 60 lbs. I’ll be patient
Thanks for your great QandA, Jessica. I have found (the hard way) that everything you said is absolutely true. In August of last year, I decided enough was enough. Though I won’t go into my whole life story, I had always been a large woman/girl and when I stepped on the scale and saw a number over 200 pounds, I bawled the entire rest of the day. I knew I had to make a change, so I started with one of your 10 minute quickies and couldn’t even get through five full minutes until I felt lightheaded and dizzy. I learned (through you) how to pace myself and work according to my body and a week later, finished that 10 minute quickie feeling great and energized. I also count my calories using livestrong.com/myplate. I am definitely an emotional eater, so instead of reaching for a bag of chips to quell my emotions, I take a few minutes to find out why I want to eat. Then, I usually go for a short walk or use one of your short workout routines to feel better about myself and to burn a few more calories. I never, EVER thought I could enjoy exercise, but with you ANYTHING is possible! I am now under 200 pounds and continuing on. It is a slow process, but I also measure my arms, chest, waist, hips and thighs once a month to really “see” my results and I feel a lot better now than I ever have in my adult life. So…Thank You!
I’ve performed three separate day fasts on three consecutive weeks, water only. I went running on two of the three days, in the middle of July. I lost a grand total of… ZERO pounds. I swear on my life. I’ve tried looking up similar information and found nothing.
You audio is off. Your voice on the left. Music and the annoying pop up sound on the right.
Does the 7-day detox include advice/info. on suggested nutrient timing, or is it just the 21-day program that does?
Your the type of person that would be perfect in a WOODSTOCK movie ♥️
What if I’m addicted to sugar (like, literally cannot stop), have about 45 pounds to lose, and am currently breastfeeding?
I have done IF for three weeks, but i didn’t lose any weight. Can I change my diet from 8:16 to 6:18 randomly cuz I dot really have routing hours for eating.
The hyperbolic message and annoying blurb sound is a distraction from what may otherwise be a great message. Sorry, thumbs down.
Hello: Just found you your really very helpful thank you being on this forum.
I am new to all this been 2 week 16/8 and don’t think i’ve seen results. A little discouraged. Also thinking 12/12 might work better for my lifestyle. Can anyone provide some feedback concerning 12/12. Traveling international for 2 weeks in 3 world country -feeling like won’t be able to maintain… You thought Autumn
I wish I would experience weight loss and less bloating but I have DEFINITELY experienced much better sleep and I’m far less moody. I’m still experiencing anxiety but the sleep and mood benefits are very noticeable and were immediate for me.
So i have just started exercising again after 1 and a half year off (due to depression etc) and I am just done with my second week!.. Its crazy really…
After my 40 minute interval training, I have too much energy… I get restless and bored…. so right before i go to bed i need to walk for 3km just to get that restlessness out of my body (i guess its good right?)
My happiness is crazy energized aswell to the point where i probably get annoying!:)
BUT I also feel that when i have bloated days (after exercising cardio) I also feel WAY more depressed and fatter…
I also Sleep very well… To the point where i go to bed, fall asleep right away, wake up energized… (if i didnt take that 3km walk i’d probably just lay there stare in the roof.. but you know!)
Right now my biggest issue is not seeing results… I feel results (at least i believe so) my condition gets better.. I can run for longer and longer, et cetera.. How ever my body still needs tweaking but i dont see results…
and yes i know.. 2 weeks is TOO short for results… I know that, I have been exercising before so:) But still it kinda tears on the self confidence together with the bloated days…
But hopefully the results will come… When its right!:)
I see myself losing weight after week 2! My face is slimmer and my belly is awesome. I’m shrinking slowly. I see it fast. I think people who don’t see changes is because they are lying about working out consistently and eating healthy. They are in denial.
I learned so much from this video. I have been frustrated with my slow progress, but after watching I realized I spend most of my day sitting at a desk in front of a computer. I have already devised a strategy for being more active during my work day to keep my body moving and I’m sure this will help my results. Thank you soooooo much!
I just discovered you and gosh I really like your channel, you make everything clear and easy to understand. Thank you very much ♡
When you say “low carb diet” how many grams of carbs per day do you consider as a low carb diet?
not really seeing any results after a month of 20:4 dk what im doing wrong? am i not being patient enough
I don’t like that she isn’t saying how this doesn’t work for everyone. Intermittent fasting is over hyped. Yes it works, for some people. Just like how not eating will make you lose weight…
I eat when I’m hungry and have lost weight and am in a super healthy weight category without even thinking about it. People should give in to their hunger so that they aren’t binging. Yes some people can intermittent fast, but it is very possible to cause an eating disorder as well. There is no awareness here about the negatives.

I basically denied myself of food to stay within Weight limit I wanted to keepbut started feeling super tired all the time. I LOVE Autumns IF programI eat until satiated and I did not gain weight and my energy level tremendously went up. Autumns IF program works so well for me. ✌️❤️
I lost over 120 in less than a year. I saw changing in the first week. it is life changing
