Generally, aim to do either: 30 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio activity at least five days per week (150 minutes per week) at least 25 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity three days per week (75 minutes per week). If you want to work out five days per week and are working on both strength and cardiovascular fitness, try three days of strength training, two days of cardio, and two days of active rest. And that rule is: take at least 1 full day off per week from all forms of exercise.
That means, AT THE VERY MOST, you should be exercising 6 times per week total (and again, this includes weight training, cardio, and any other form of exercise).Doing some crunches or planks at the end of every workout leaves your midsection in a constantly overworked state, preventing any results you’d like to see. To get results and prevent overtrainin. Each week, adults should get 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous activity.
You can also do a combination of moderate and. There honestly is no official set-in-stone rule for this. However, my general recommendation is to stay with the same overall workout program for a minimum of 12 weeks. What’s the maximum amount of time you should spend using the same workout program? If your workout didn’t leave your shirt totally drenched, you might be able to get away with skipping a wash.Get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. The guidelines suggest that you spread out this exercise during the course of a week. Greater amounts of exercise will provide even greater health benefit.
To keep progressing and improving your fitness, you ideally need to be riding your bike every two-three days, even if it’s just a turbo trainer workout.Relationships, exercise, career, and spirituality are just as important to your health as the food you eat. Health Coaches understand this and take a holistic approach to supporting the whole person. Find out how health coaching stacks up against other health and wellness jobs.Notes on Training Frequency: There is no right or wrong answer to how often you should workout a week because it depends on one’s fitness goals and schedule.
If your goal is to lose weight, which is 80% diet, spending too much time at the gym maybe counter-productive (especially if most of that is doing steady-state cardio). As you can see, every muscle group gets trained 3 times per week, with just 1-2 days of rest in between. When training each muscle group with a frequency as high as 3 times per week, you need to ensure the opposite of what you needed to ensure when training each muscle just once per week. When people start lifting, they usually overdo it. You want muscle fast so you train five, six, or even seven days a week, thinking that the more you do, the faster you’ll see results.
But it doesn’t take long before you learn the hard way about the importance of recovery. How often should you replace workout shoes? When it comes to athletic shoes, the life of your shoe will depend on several important factors.

yeah gains from all that food y’all be eating, but stop lying y’all only workout once a month now
I can only workout weekends I work 10 hours a day and then go to school so it’s hard I only go on FridaySunday
Love that idea of rolling the Matt up and placing it under your feet on the hyperextension machine. I’m too short for mine and it was frustrating. How about and idea on placing some sort of platform (blocks) under your feet for seated rows?
Sadly, my classes are requiring more study time now ( expected they would sooner or later) so no more long walks between classes so currently I go to school three days a week and immediately go to work afterwards until 1130. every other week I have my son so most free time during those weeks are spent with him and I have drill (navy reserve) one weekend each month so that usually leaves me with 5-7 hours a day on roughly 4 days a month and all day to myself about 2 days a month. I think I’ll have to rely on controlling my intake rather than affecting my output at this point:(
I can only work out on Mondays and Fridays due to family and work. Usually it’s resistance training for about an hour to a hour and a half. Is that good enough to make any gains? Even small ones? Love your channel! You inspire me to keep going!
If I’m following a 6 day workout when should I train my core
Reminder: you could have active rest days, where you workout but it’s not as tough.
3 times a day, 7 days a week with empty stomach only on 2 liters of water a day…
But beginners don’t have muscle mass and if they do 2x time per week they just burn the muscle i think after a year or so you can train 2 x times per week
Ever since I began training each muscle group twice a week my gains have become extremely evident in all aspects.
I do 5 kilometres power walk/ run daily weights and calisthenics mon thru Friday… Weekends off from weights…ill take a day off if needed in the middle…
You are so beautiful in this video. Can you tell me how tall are you? In cm?
I liked to workout 7days a week.
And i love that shit..
Bitch
Trust me guys, I’ve been trying to find the best timing, and for someone like me who works and doesn’t like to spend the whole week at the gym I’d say 4 days a week is the best, Monday chest, Tuesday legs, wensday rest, Thursday back and shoulder, Friday biceps and triceps. Abs you can add it whenever you want.
Who the fuck wants to work out every single day…common sense 101 will tell any one with half a brain that your body’s CNS isn’t built to sustain this for the long haul…..the purpose is to build your body for longetivity…not destroy it till you go catabolic and start destroying the very gains you aspire to attain
Max, I am most grateful for all these videos! I review them again and again because you help me to process information that I have been gathering from other websites and other resources. In all honesty, I would love to look like you, but I am learning from you how to create better fitness goals. Thank you.
This question was from KaliMuscle, right before he made the HodgeTwin diss track video..
https://youtu.be/gZh5H65gGoA
If you want to go hardcore without trening six days per week look here
Monday back, biceps, glutes, legs, core
Tuesday chest, shoulders, triceps
Wednesday glutes, legs, core
Thursday back, biceps
Friday chest, shoulders, triceps, glutes, legs, core
P.S. do not use too many sets and too much weight (not too much volume)
I unsubscribed from this channel many years ago due to injuries and depression that prevented me from working out, but now that I have recovered and started working out again, it feels good to be back here watching these videos. I missed these two guys.
I love this video it gave me 2 options and a lot of info. My butt went saggy after working from home and not working them out at all. Thank you.
if your unemployed and you have good physical condition with minor injuries when you train, and your experienced, you can even work out, 2 times a day,6 times a week and be okay, but you will need a lot of rest in between exercises.
1:15 so with 1x/week each workout is more effective:D It’s the way to go for those who are slightly overtrained
This vid kinda reminds me of those discussion board forums we have to post for online classes lol. A little drawn out.
I think 4 days should be minimum for those who have the time to train more than 3 days per week, 5 days is the maximum for natties it all depends on duration and volume in my opinion.
Jimmy Struthers down the street says to train once a week!
First: I would like to THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to teach about us about becoming healthier.
Second: is there a pedometer you would recommend? Thanks again and God Bless you.
Yeah you can do that, or you can just train al the muscles as much as possible in 1 week. 5 days training and saturday and sunday rest. I do that je my results are a lot quicker than the people who do every muscle just 2 times in a week. Only arms 1 time per week
I do not need to pay a professional and neither does the rest of the world
When I workout I target biceps and triceps one day, day 2 chest and back, day 3 biceps and triceps, day 4 chest and back than 4 off.
So I was doing 3 workouts a week and I felt like my weight was being stubborn. I switched up to 5 workouts a week and I shifted some stubborn fat! I’m going to get 6 workouts in this week and see the difference too! I think that maybe one week I could do 6 workouts (the week when I start my period) and then do 5 the next week, then 4 and then 3 right before I’m about to start my period. Sound like a good fat burning protocol?
go on the fighter and the kid again you were awesome on their and try go for guests of the year
I feel like women can just plain out work out more than men for some reason I don’t know why,
Like in volume I feel they crush us
Woah, I Love the way you talk!:O and you are very pretty:)
do i only target the booty on those glute days? what about quads or calves for instance
I’m sure the best workouts instruction is on Unflexal page. I just love it!
Does it not depend on the weight you lift instead? Some don’t want to grow quads but would rather focus on glute targeted exercises instead. Hip thrusts, single leg elevated lifts, and glute bridges are great ways to grow the glutes without targeting the quads. It depends how heavy you go. You may choose to go heavy on the hip thrusts, that is equally as possible as squats in terms of work provided into the exercise. Depends on how heavy you are lifting to reach your goals. Personally, I disagree with this video. Light days for me would include exercises with ankle weights and bands while heavy days which are twice a week would include a variation of exercises that are glute and not quad focused. Thanks for sharing. Namaste.
I do 4 days a week sometimes I may throw in a extra day here and there…sometimes I will take a week off and then the next week I go harder. It depends on you its not etched in stone. You do have to workout more than two days a week to get some results. Listen to your body, don’t listen to anyone else. If your muscles or joints hurt or sore..its time to give yourself more than a couple days rest. I can’t stress this enough. Listen to your body, don’t listen to anyone else.

I wasn’t making gains until I started working upper and lower body more than once a week. I now workout upper body three times a week and lower twice a week. So upper, lower upper, off, upper, lower, off. Since doing that I’ve seen all kinds of gains.
im the same way, totally can relate to the challenging frame of mind. I always want to try to out do myself.
I’m not A Subbie..But I do Have A Question? It seems like i Can’t jump rope! Yeah..A Bodybuilder for years now, and when i Try i Get 6 Done..with a Stiff nick as A Result…Plz Say something because u’all say leave a Comment; But u never reply..excuse my English..i am Dutch Speaking..And Personaly i Think all u Said is Right.. Its the Quality> Quantity..
I like this style of email advice. Top quality but not as formal.
That pie chart at 4:25 holy shit thats like 10 hours of sleep 6 hours work. Imagine getting 10 hours of sleep
I love u I love it face I love your body shape…ur fan from Morocco
Yes a thousand times to a video teaching how to create my own workout plan/program/routine!
Hey Marisa! Love your videos and actually have a pretty specific question for you. I have two kids so I’m a stay at home mom and do online freelance work so I’m kind of sedentary? With two kids I literally do not sit for over an hour straight most days but that’s just usually to change a diaper etc. So I’ve made my 2020 resolution to get back to a flat stomach and I’m doing 2 to 4 days a week when ever I can but due to this sedentary state I probably do not burn much for most of the day after working out. What would you recommend I do to find the best results?
Fuck me 7minute video for a question that could be summed up in like 30seconds… any beginner watching this would understand like 5% of what your saying the rest of us just need you to stop talking
You need more fitness videos with special guests/youtube fitness stars
When you talk about training are you referring to weight training only or does that include cardio as well
Can you pls do a vid about how you know your muscles are growing
Hi I’m boxing in vr. How many days n hours should I workout to lose belly fat. Thanks
Do you do a day of light high reps alone or do you mix some of the heavy compound excercises in the same day?
I don’t doubt the findings of the study but “training each muscle group” means exactly what?
There are no specifics here. Pretty useless if you ask me.
Ok so doesn’t matter what split u do but how exercises for each body part are you post to do and how many sets
Great video as always been a little confused with this as well so thanks
Hodge twins are back!! Damm been waiting for a video from u guys
Great video! I was sitting on my couch and didn’t feel like working out today. Then your video notification popped up and after hearing you talk about just do something anything to get moving, I got up and did weight lifting work out. I’m glad I did. I needed that. Thanks for the encouragement and the ebook.
hi, What do you say about High intensity musle workouts recomended by Mike Mentzer or Dr Mc Guff? They say only once a week is the way to go for muscle building. or max 2 full body workouts is starting point.
It’s literally so hard to get 10000 steps a day. I walked for 1 hour today and only got 8000 my knees were sore.
Full body workouts every other day seem to make the most sense for people like me who are over 70.
Is so hard am so tired am trying to lose weight but where am losing the weight are in the places that I like this is really hard but am going to work really hard for myself
There is no such thing as the “best split” its all about how you mange workout volume with enough recovery time.
So you lift 2 times in 7 days?? what? like monday and thursday? do you take 2 days off or 3 days?
I used to train 5 to 6 days a week. Since last february, I have been working a lot (stressful job) and walking a lot more. I have made myself a few 3days full body programm. It is still easily achieved because if I skipped one day of training I still have room left in the week to do the planned session on another day. (I try to work out on monday (heavy), tuesday (light) and thrusday (heavy). if something didn’t go according to plan I will do one session on the week-ends.
I have had the most muscle growth with this three day split when maintaining calories (been training and counting macros for four years now, lost 60 lbs during the first two years)
Every training session will include 4 lower body exercises and two upper. One pushing and one pulling movement (horizontal on day one, vertical on day 2, horizontal on day 3 for the first month, and on the following month more vertical than horizontal pulling and pushing)
For the lower exercises: 3 coumpounds (hipthrust or bridge, singe leg or both legs + hip hinging like deadligt, RDL or 45 degree back extension + squats or split squats) and one isolation exercise (either for gluteus medius or hamstring isolation because I find my hamstrings are weak)
I notice when I programm more sessions, if I can’t hit them because life happens and I had to work six days a week, or had health issues, my self-esteem goes lower because I feel like I failed… When I hit my three sessions a week I feel proud and it keeps me going. Sometimes I will do an optional fourth session if I have time and ernergy to do so. It has helped my mental health a lot.
Thank you for your content <3
Hey, Why in the 2-3 times workout you don’t add isolation movements for the glutes and only compund movements?
How much should you start to lift for glute training if you’re just starting?
Watching you do make me motivated to continue everyday. I started a couple of months ago on daily basis but lately I started to feel bored though I have started reaching some goals. Coming across your videos makes me want to keep on.
what if i just want to workout my upper body? can i do upper body workout 2-3x a week? whats best?
Idk boys I’ve been training one body part a week 30 sets a body part with no days off and been growing like crazy, monday back, tuesday chest, wednesday legs, thursday shoulders, friday biceps, saturday triceps, sunday traps, I like it this way cause I’m only in the gym for about an hour to an hour and a half tops, I do 5 sets for 6 different exercises, first 3 sets 60 sec. rests and 90 sec. on last 2 with last 2 sets going to complete failure, if I take a day off or miss a day I continue the routein and it’s been working real good for me I’m around 5’8 to 5’9 and 204 lbs and been training consistanly for 10 months and put on 59 lbs naturally I don’t even use protein shakes just 5 clean meals a day, I was 145 lbs when I started.
With a higher frequency of training, or volume, nutritional balance place a exponentially greater role; anti inflammation, collagen, quality, timing, deficiencies, etc.
Waaaay too much bla-bla-bla
Get to the point…
so obvious that you’re not an expert in this field… just an amateur.
Unsubscribed
Tomorrow i have a heavy day after todays rest:)) Still trying to get comfortable with dead lifts and the barbel. Great video Hanna <3
so did I understand it right that I should train one muscle group twice a week directly?
Have you tried cryotherapy, Dr. Phoenyx? What are your thoughts on it? I’m thinking about trying it to help me with muscle soreness and to shed my last 10 lbs.
and Brad Schoenfeld the expert on Hypertrophy is so massive.
For me 4 days a week is perfect! Allows me to see gains quicker than working out 3 days a week. And also it means I can have a life outside of the gym.
I usually do 3 full body workouts were I hit each muscle. And I spend 1 day doing about a 15 min HIIT workout and push myself to the limit.
Love your videos mate, you always try to give info on all sides of an issue. Great info.
Can anyone share their weekly mucle group schedule, like How do i divide all Muscle groups twice a week
I do 6 Days:
Day 1: Upper
Day 2: Lower
Day 3: Upper
Day 4: Lower
Day 5: Upper
Day 6: Lower
Day 7: Rest
I got great results guys
I go 3 days a week I wanna go more but I have medical issues of a livertransplant and a bad heart so it makes it hard for me but I’m trying everything like protein foods all that and working around my sickness
Isnt the recovery time 48hours? So if i hit muscle groups every 48hours is fine and i wont overtrain right? I workout everyday now because i feel like i will be more consistent and will not quit gym as i usually do
I have addison’s disease it mesns that my kidney’s are not producing cortisol on its own how does this affect me and working out with strength training? Do i need longer rest between sets? Do i need to be careful about other stuff? Like how much weekly volume how many days etc
Does taking a 2 hour girthy protein shit count as a workout day?? It worked muscles I never knew I had.
I do resistance bands and dumbbell training 3 times a week, I walk an hour a day 7 days a week and I do 100 push-ups a day. Using your Macro+Averager I cycle a calorie surplus on training days and a deficit on rest days ending the week in a very slight surplus but I keep my protein intake the same every day. My scale weight has stayed about the same, but i’m seeing significant strength gains and my body changing. It’s been awesome:)
What if you did 2 times a week the heavy weight type of routine and then 2 days a week the light weight high reps kind of routine. Would that work?
Damm 20 mins to say 3 times a week i guess women do like to hear themselves talk
I love how you presented this. It was very helpful. Thanks!
OMG YOU SAY SUBBIES?! I thought I was the only one ♥️ Thankyou for this
Great workouts! Where I can find a barbell like the one you use at minute 13:32? I only find long ones that are not comfortable for this kind of exercise. Or it is adjustable?
fuck yeah. See you boys on 9/11 in salt lake. You speak the truth about working out.
HOW THE FUCK CAN I TRAIN EVERY MUSCLE 2 TIMES A WEEK SO 7 DAYS A WEEK?!?
Is it bad to train 7 times a week?
-Monday: Legs
-Tuesday: Bicep, Back
-Wednesday: tricep shoulder chest
-Thursday: Legs
-Friday: bicep back
-saturday tricep shoulders
I am completely natural…I take massive amounts of steroids. No lifting. Lifters are cheaters.
more you train will increase risk for injures. For long term training its better train bit less than bit too much. Listen your body, it tells you how much you can train, nobody else can say it
I workout 1hr 1/2 six days a week slit routines: Retiree, I do work part-time just find time. I Eat Healthier Now. No eating after 7:00pm: I was weighting 238 lbs now 218. I do try to burn 1000 calories a day. 60 yrs old with high blood pressure hereditary. Since working out my blood pressure has changed tremendously were it needs to be
My Workout Plans:
MonWednesday: Cardiovascular / muscular endurance
TuesThur
Flexibility, muscle Endurance, cardio
Fri Sat
Walk for at least 30mins:
Thanks so much for explaining how often to workout
full body 5 days a week, and one functional body day. hitting 10k steps 5-6 days a week as well!
i just started exercising again, swimming laps. i’m doing it every other day as of right now. i want to start incorporating dry land training too.
would i still get fast and good results if I did the exercises 4 times a week instead of 3?
I got some walls comin’ ovah here for a 2 hours desecration session. YEAHHHHH! and I’m stoned
I’m doing upper/lower and push/pull/legs 5 days a week. It’s the best frecuency for intermediate lifters.
Sorry but your glutes are not very round or protruding… it looks like its been overtrained and boxy…
If the group who worked out 2x a week for 4 months switched to 1x a week and saw increased muscle gain, what if they alternated 2x and 1x a week if that’s the case?
I find the switch from 2x to 1x per week causing MORE muscle gains very interesting. I used to do a bro split and made great gains.I wonder if the systemic recovery is more important than targeted muscle recovery.
Most people say that you need to train arms 2 times per week
Funny some people wants to lose fat from their legs and other want to gain more. I used to hate my big fat legs and now I really miss them LOL
I workout 6 days a week with weights and 30 min to 1 hour of cardio.
Just finished an ab focused workout. I’m only 13 so I dont do it for the looks but to be strong. Personally I find working out 6 days a week good for me.
Ok I workout once a week doing high volume but here’s thing if I start working 2 times per week will I still be able to do high volume
If you are just a regular gym goer, and don’t rely on fitness as a job, just train each muscle once per week. Fit some time in for hard core cardio too like sprints and jogging. So, mon/wed/fri lift, Tuesday/Thursday cardio, sat/sun party
I agree. I do whatever I can. Sometimes I need days off. There is a Beachbody program that is 6 days per week, 1 hour of INSANELY challenging workouts, and I really just don’t think that’s responsible or right. We need more than 1 day per week to recover.
I train 5-6 times a week. 4 days of lifting (rotating legs and arms). I do a Arm pull day, and an arm push day. One day focused on dead lifts, on one that focuses on the squat and full leg.
I do one to two cardio days with one day added as a full body workout in combination.
I obviously listen to my body and rest when it’s telling me it needs a break; but it’s taken some time to figure out if the rest is purely physical exhaustion or is it mental? I find if it’s mental given my mental state at the time I generally feel better after a training session. I get that that may seem like a lot to most people; but I have always been an athlete and find I’m a more enjoyable person to be around when I’ve burnt off my excess energy.
I do biceps three times a week now and see a difference. Many years ago I trained them everyday and achieved 18 1/2 in arms which I can’t now doing 2 times a week
On joe rogans podcast a guest said: dont over workout. Workout 60% and do it 7times a week. By the end of the year. You’ve work out 365x. Think abt it
I workout 5 days a week / 45 mins cardio and I do strength training for about 30 mins.
yayyyyyy 10,000 steps is my daily fitbit goal per day Great info!
I’m so grateful I found your videos this evening! You are an amazing speaker and super inspirational! Now it’s time to knock out my 10 week fitness goal! Thanks so much for spreading your knowledge!:)
I had hip dips but after working out in two day the hip dips where gone but girl my hips where burning like hell
Oh Godz…that T-shirt Logo. I almost forgot how horrendous it was. The new one is so much better.
Y’all motivated so much I have not stop the gym since 2016 I shredded 100 pounds mayne
Ain’t no hot girl leaving a dude for any reason other reason than new dick. Anything else they tell you a fucking lie.
Can I combined both into my weekly routine? Like mondays do heavyweight and thursdays more lighter weight?
My biceps have stopped growing compared to the rest. I’m thinking of training bicep twice a week? Do you think this will help improve in building muscle in the biceps
I wish you wouldn’t use the term “bro-split”. It gives the impression that it has no merits and is just used by dummies. I made my biggest gains working each muscle once a week.
if you come from a history of overtraining and disordered eating but then try to get back to a more balanced approach to exercise (say training 4x/week), is it possible to still see physique progress since your body has adapted to more exercise than you’re doing now and less food than you’re eating now?
I don’t understand my body anymore. Since a couple of months I get these EXTREM urges to eat it feels like i am about to die or starve if I don’t consume food right here and then. I don’t understand. I listen to my body and eat but I feel so full that my stomach hurts and I just don’t understand. I had the easiest time losing weight and had those urges once in a while but now I have them every couple days and I just don’t get it. Anybody any ideas? Would really really appericiat it!
Thank you for all your content! <3
I workout for 3-4 days of week. I have arthritis and i bunk gym because of my arthritis pain. Would my 3-4days of gym give good result?
Was I the only one to get a chuckle out of his chest diagram with boobs?
FACTS ON MOMENTUM, really great to hear that as a factor of decision making! Subscribed!!
I walk two miles every day. But my goal is to have a smaller stomach so I wanna start working out at a gym five days a week
What do you think about working the muscle every day but with lower weight but high reps or alternating high reps one day low weight and one day higher weight lower reps?
Anyone know what is Custokebon Secrets about? I hear many individuals burn their weight with this popular lose weight methods.
Exercise daily might be happening if you walk, or do a physical job daily etc. This is just about ‘gym’ workouts, what about people who do both?
Right now training 3 times per week at the gym (on the brains programm) and once a week I am doing Ninja warrior style training.
Love them but you want strength do the conjugate system. West side
I wanna workout 7 days a week, But splitting it and only doing 2x a perticulair muscle group a week seems pretty hard since i don’t want to build legs or abs, but just want to get bigger in my arms and chest.
Squats I work out legs every three to four days.
3 to 4 warm up sets
Set 1: 135 x 10
Set 2: 185 x 10
Set 3: 215 x 10
Set 4: 275 x 10
Set 5: 275 x 10
Set 6: 275 x 10
Set 7: 275 x 10
Set 8: 275 x 10
I’ve been doing this routing for over a year now and I do go heavier, or lighter on the last two reps, but the rep count is always the same. My legs and gluteus have grown thanks to the king of all exercises SQUATS!
Man us in the Bahamas watch those gym videos. Please continue training and fitness tutorials
2-3 times a week seems more optimal for beginners. Protein synthesis rates change the more advanced you are and the older you are, so it seems best for those individuals to do a higher frequency. Also, protein synthesis is elevated (keyword) for up to 48 hrs, meaning it is above baseline for that time period and after that period it goes back to baseline and you can train again. With that said it would seem as though training every 48 hrs would be more optimal, meaning 3 times per week (for beginners). Intermediate trainers may need a higher frequency than that, possibly 4 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) followed by 3 times the following week (Tues, Thurs, Sat) training every 48 hrs and repeat throughout a training cycle. Advanced would need more than that because the body has adapted well at this time and it will take more to create muscle damage. On top of that, muscle protein synthesis will be elevated through a shorter time frame (such as 24 hrs), meaning an advanced (or aged) trainer should be able to train a muscle group every 24 hrs (5 days a week) and recover just fine. Beyond 5 days a week is not advisable in my opinion and may blunt progress (even if the volume is equated) or even promote diminishing returns from overtraining.
Simply put,
Beginners 3 times per week
Intermediate 4 times per week
Advanced 5 times per week
Thanks you have been very clear and simple explination
love your content.. I just found you. I lost 90lbs with no working out, just cut carbs and ate super clean. I maintained that for 4yrs with no real struggle. I am now adding in the gym 4-5 days a week (1-1.5hrs a day) to drop another 30 or so lbs and gain some muscle and re-shape my body.
My main question was 2 vs. 3 common sense says 4 will tear a muscle or exhaust it but will 3 do it.Very good video though but lacked the main question
You can learn how to incrase your muscles and flexibility from Unflexal site.
Is it possible to gain muscles just doing bodyweight exercises and reverse dieting?:)
If all I’m doing is walking at a moderate pace, is it safe to walk 3miles a day, every day?
I’m confused… There’s a comparison between 1x and 2-3x per week. You say that training 2-3x gives 3.1% over the 3.7% of just once, but you go on to say this is in addition to a beginner gaining 25lbs of muscle, so you’d gain an extra pound by training more, but what’s the baseline amount of training that once is offering a 3.7% premium over? How is the beginning gaining 25lbs of muscle in the first place if they’re not training at least once per week?
Edit: Perhaps the baseline is 4x per week? So 4x gains 25lbs in a year 1x is 3.7% more and 2-3x is 6.8% more? If so, that’s a HUGE indicator that training each body part just once per week is very efficient for most people
I’m definitely that person who wants to kill themself when training. It feels SOOOO amazing!
I wish this video was louder, can hardly hear the audio over the clatter of weights in the gym I live in. Cuz. Gains.
I’m just starting a workout routine I have 3 kids and I stay home my kids are little so joe if are busy what time of day do you think is best for me to squeeze in 10 or 15 minutes afternoon or evening?
I work out 6x a week some of us have anxiety ok and I’m already used to it been two years consecutively you’d be surprised what the body can adapt to I also do yoga once a week to stretch and rest my muscles
You should make merch that says your body is an adaptation machine. You say it al the time
I exercise the whole week except on friday, i am eating a little junk food throughout the week, but not that much, and on the Fridays it’s kind of my cheat day, but i know not to eat a lot, i also drink a lot of water, i lost 4 pounds this week, Is that okay? I just want to completely stop eating junk food. can you help?
Hey so I’m wondering, so when doing a cut, how much excercisig is too much? Because we would be in a calorie deficit and not have as much fuel, wouldn’t that decrease our performance? Thanks so much I love your content!
1 chest
2 back
3 Arm
Rest
4 Shoulder
5 leg day
Rest
So this is my plan in the week
Hey Jeremy! This was great! Could you please make a video about the upper abs workout?
What if you can not afford gym membership? Can you build muscle & lose body fat through home workouts?
Does it matter if you have had kids an your butt has dropped lol will these still lift your butt??
great video!! this honestly helps me keep my leg days fun and different instead of sticking to a normal boring routine
I have been in dance since I was little. I love doing high intensity dance workouts. It makes workout out not seem like work to me. It is still hard but at least it is somewhat fun.
In my experience, once every 4 days is optimal in an ideal world, but good luck sticking to that schedule in a day to day life unless you’re a pro body builder with no job. So my recommendation:
Twice per week until you hit a wall where you feel burned out and feel weaker than the workout before, then go to a once per week for at least one week until you get it back. Sometimes the body needs extra recovery, maybe you haven’t slept well or have been stressed, or other activities, illness, injury etc has hit you. Listen to your own body, especially as you get older and testosterone isn’t in abundance. Your diet also plays an important role in the recovery and energy for the next workout process.
I do full body every other day which is 3/4 times a week. Is that too much?
Just train diversely.
Calisthenics, cycling and running is my recipe:P 1 to 3 rest days/week
I’m trying to build my glutes how many times a week should I workout to build my glutes? Because I want my muscle to recover so my glutes can grow. I do my workouts at home. I do have treadmill and barbell and weights. I only lifts up to 5 to 10 pound barbell weights I don’t want to lift too heavy will I still be able to get bigger glutes?
I’m just starting working out for the first time and your videos are really helpful! So thank you for that… I’m having a little bit of trouble since I just quit smoking so I feel like my lung capacity isn’t that great for now.. I wish you could make a video, maybe with tips related to that problem!:)
Chest and back is a no,no for me unable to sleep, back and shoulders is a yes.
Ok, so obese people should concentrate mainly on eating, but as far as working out goes, 7 days ain’t bad. Got it.
Im still kinda chunky if i so botty 3 times a week how many should i do of cardio?
Ooooooo yeaaaaaahhhhhhh those types tips need to get more gains getting all kinds of gains
I just hit the trendmill for a hour every day and weekend i hit the iron half hour on arms half hour on abs thats what im doing now my calorie count loss for a hour on the tredmill is about 800 plus i Plato but im sticking with my schedule i think im seeing better results on the mirror instead of my weight scale! Great vid as per usual
1:30 every 3 day i take a day of
3+1+3=7. Thats 6 days a week. You said 5. U liEed ToO uS!
Pls I hve a question I’m 35 years old nd I’m a mum for 3 kids so for me I can’t go outside to walk its impossible to move all kids nd me everyday but I’m over weight nd I’m keeping trying to do some exercise at home nd i watching carefully my food even I’m breastfeeding my bby anyway I want to ask if I can do jumping rope at home instead of walking isn’t same result thank you
what about when you ‘feel’ the muscle still in repair. Like I will feel my chest soreness for about 3-4 days. If I workout on day 5, my sets are not as strong as if I had waited for one week.
when you guys gave them fame they did not need to train and that shit is bullshit they look like shit all that fast food trash yea i said it. How you have a gym and dont train in it.
Eat carbs
Like idk corn beans and sweet potato. Do 100 reps
If you don’t like the gym or do use it then start lifting rocks
Hello i started working out last week, i hit my Upper body MW and TTH lower body, friday is abs and sat. is Cardio, and sunday only is my rest day. Is it ok?? Thanks a lot!
Happy birthday buddy.
I do chest/back/shoulder M/W/F and arms/legs T/T/S. One week low volume. Next week is one bro split. Off weekend and restart. Saw gainz
I actually unsubscribed awhile back because the videos got boring. It was always the same video, eating and cutting. That’s it. Not as funny and entertaining as in the earlier years. I just happen to come in because I saw Hodgetwins on the main page.
Guys you go to Sweden and Norway, but no fucking Denmark?? WTF man???
Just eat, hit your free weights n pushups makin all kinds of Gainzzz you dont need the gym
when i wake up the first thing i do is a 30-45 min cardio session.
than after dinner ill do my second workout with weights. i do this every other day. so 1 day of training than 1 day to rest and so on.. i always do a full body workout, i dont split my routine into legday and upperbody day
Can i go to the gym 2 days in a row but traing difrent muscles??
I lifting dumbbell 3 times a day everyday. No rest. It is good or fucking bad?
Can anyone help me
Due to quarantine i started training my biceps, triceps, shoulders and forearms daily. So should i reduce the taining days from 6 to 2-3 or should i keep training 6 days a week?I do 2-3 exercises of each muscle
I love your videos and have for years. Had to stop counting calories because I became number obsessed. Wasn’t losing a pound even though I was tracking everything and I have over 50 pounds to lose. Stupid hypothyroidism is really making things hard. Still enjoy your videos even though I’ve been feeling really discouraged. Your the one that turned me to IF and I think that’s the only reason I lost any weight at all last year.
Intermittent fasting…every time I hear it I’m like, Wtf, I heard about that shit years ago…yeah
whenever i squat i hear my knee “pop” it does not hurt but it makes me uncomfortable,,
We dislike the food videos! Go back to the basic bitch backdrop with the genuine fun loving brothers that clown on each other and make funny faces at the beginning of every video. Seriously! That’s your brand!
Hey Jeremy I just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos.
I am mother with 2 kids. 28 years old. Is it ok if I go 3-4 times a week? I stay around one hour every time. Half an our is cardio and half an hour is weights. I am 58 kg and my height is 1,72.
I am resting every other day. I was really over trained and burned out. I feel much better after two weeks of every other day rest.
What about working out every other day, not considering how many times a week? Just simply every other day?
FINALLY! Jeez, I was starting to wonder where the REAL Hodgetwins were.
Maybe mini or short videos on instagram/snapchat story or ig/youtube live for the workouts
i like workingout every day because if i dont make it somthing i do every day im probably not going do it i will find something that i think is better than workingout thats why i like home workouts ive been doing p90x3 its only 30 min an all ive got to do is go down into the basement not drive 30 to 40 min to use some equipment someone has sweated all over
Great video! I like to stick to 3x a week weightlifting and I play sand volleyball 1-3x a week because I love to play ❤️
One of the questions you mentioned from Instagram q and a that inspired this video was mine!!!
Do trigger sessions from MAPS anabolic count for sending the muscle growth signal? My schedule right now only allows workouts on Monday and Friday. I do trigger sessions on all the other days though to help with soreness and to get a pump.
Don’t know how I got here but she so adorable just babbling on and on..feeling the need to explain every thought she has..while struggling to speak fluently…very pretty face..nice body…great vid
Hi there l workout 7 day and rest one is that ok l do a hiit workout about 1 hour is that ok HELPE
To make the most gains yall gotta take the Green Aplee preworkout
Soooo true I’ve been challenging myself and I’m loving the results
Ahh man, please come to Norway one more time! I’ll be in Japan that date You guys rock!
I workout 4 to 6 days a week at home. I use HIIT, aerobics, strength/weight training and some mixed cardio workouts. Typically no more than a hr. If I have extra time, I take at least a 3 mile walk.
but its not 5 a week! its 6!
day1: training
day2:training
day3:training
day4:rest
day5:training
day6:training
day7:training
day8:rest
in a week 7 days. wtf? ;D or you not training Sunday?
6 days u training not 5 a week. am wrong?
Tell it to a pro block layer or other heavy construction laborer and he’ll laugh in your face. Work out a measly 3 or 7 days a week what for an hour or two. Lol. Try laying block everyday all day long for 20 years or more and you won’t worry about your little gym workout
guys,, l am not speaking English well,, so can someone tell me what she did briefly!! I really need to know but she still talking so long…. How time I should workout!!
Okay so is two days or three days better? You didn’t clarify
4days a week… push /pull / legs/ full body. Hit every body part twice a week
I hate to say this but yall getting fat in the face again. Return to IF
All my energy was consumed to constant listen to a non pause mauling. Please put in some micro pauses when talking or I will not be able to recieve and process all your good ideas and knowledge.
Press pause whenever I want one might say, that will work as swif9 channel during commercial, no coming back ever…
Would like to see some tips for getting back on track after holidays. ❤✌
You’re talking nonsense about strength training and it has nothing to do with bodybuilding!
Thought this was interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUtxnBgpNcg&list=LLR8eOrK1j6Kki7VIiL80GUg&index=3&t=0s and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLljTSbycvQ
5 on 2 off, rotate to 4 on 3 off for like 2-3 months outa a year
You guys or fat now.what happened to intermittent fasting??
The reason why intermediate lifters going from 2x a week to 1x a week experienced greater gain, is that in intermediate or advanced state, the recovery phase takes longer. Because the stress-recovery-adaptation cycle is longer in each phase.
Thank you for this vid. Exercises listed in description starts at 13:12
No matter what Im doing, I try to incorporate some sort of glute/leg exercise in every training because thats my weakest area. The weight is low but the constant working of this area seems to be activating them. Also resistance bands are great!
so three days for glutes is strictly glutes or legs in general?
I work every day and feels good, I don’t know how to decide whether my body needs a rest or not!!!
That was a good question and the answer was helpful as well.
I keep seeing videos that say how often…I want to know how long
its 0.78 lbs extra, which is 350g…..You will not notice this……. for a whole year?????? Its not worth it. How much extra strain on your joints & ligaments after 3 years???? those are the studies you SHOULD be focusing on. Not the mere grams gained after a whole year.
Okay, this is a question that is seldom asked but I’d just like to know. How many calories were burned from the 1st & 2nd workout? And do you know the calorie burn formula for every workout? Thanks
I actually did 5 days a week a year or two ago. Changed jobs and had to adapt my training to the now 3 days a week full body. It’s working out a lot for me cause I gym time doesn’t feel like a chore.
Do not count weeks, count days or hours. For example I noticed I’ve never had muscle soreness for more than 3 days for any muscle group. After learning this I train each muscle group once every 72-96 hours for the best results.
How many times a week should I work out and how long shall I workout for thanks
I listen to my body and sometimes take a week off but I do like to train every day. When training everyday I do split routines 1 hour morning cardio and 1 hour 30 mins weight training for some people this’s to much but all round you do what’s best for you.
I workout everyday same routine only thing I do is change reps up to keep muscles guessing.
I am sure you will find great workouts instructions on Unflexal page. That insane how it is good for sane:D
Monday: Legs & Shoulders
Tuesday: Back & Biceps
Wednesday: Chest & Triceps
Thursday: Abdominals
Friday Sunday: Rest
I’m currently focusing on one body part (legs) I train everything else on different days but save most of my energy to push as hard as I can on leg days. This may be wrong but it works for me I’m getting new PRs every week as I’m getting stronger and more confident.
Great video. You have helped me SO much, I can’t believe how much I’ve improved because of your knowledge and experience. I love you for this! And this lip colour suits you so well, beautiful!
Yes please do a video on how to build a full workout program!
Subscribed!! You have done your homework and answered every question I have in mind when I see an Athlean-X or Mike Thurston video. Not that they aren’t great. But these details you go over are crucial for foundation knowledge:-) Thank you bro!!
Good day, will you please discuss a fitness routine for naturally skinny/slim individuals? Primarily for those of us who simply want to stretch and tone our bodies. Also, will you please discuss the reasoning behind skinny/slim individuals that gain a bloated stomach/back fat, yet are slim everywhere else? Kind Regards
Well if y’all bored go to Hodgetwiins. Tv it’s only 2.99 month they busting all kinds of nuts over there. But if you want censoring while sucking loli pops stay here I guess
Bodybuilding is not a one-size-fits-all…. bodybuilding is Progressive training… I don’t think you have any idea what that means… some people that have never learned how to drive a stick shift, think I’ll just drive around in first gear… I think you’re stuck in first gear!
I HATE when people say uou can’t workout everyday. If I spend day without working out i will feel like crap.
Do you not understand that most competitive bodybuilders take steroids?! So that doesn’t help your drug free people from your survey!
1:19 6.8% is 84% more than 3.7%, not 3.1%
Instead of 1kg you get 1.84kg, not 1.037kg. It’s a BIG difference.
Four times a week is ideal with two upper body and two lower body. The rest days cardio
Quick questionhow many calories do you burn whilst lifting weights? I’m 5′ 4″ and 156lbs and I do two upper body and two lower body session with about 2 min rest on the heavier lifts and only 30 seconds between more fun plyo moves and body weight exercises. My estimate was 400-450 calories because it’s one hour workout. Some people on myfitnesspal said 200 calories. I’m asking just so I can eat enough food whilst being in a calorie deficit. I also walk 10000 steps a day.
great video! I workout 3-5 days a week, biking, hiking, running, jump-rope, and weights. Trying to get into yoga and do more stretching🙂
Great video. Do you have any new wellness/fitness recommendations for audible?
I have only been going to the gym for a month and a half and go three times a week, push, pull, legs/glutes, i wish i had more time to add more booty workouts, but I don’t want to just build my booty, I have had back problems for two years and trying to strengthen my back
How about mixing the two kinds of exercises. For example doing like 3 days of compound exercises and 1 day of banded/bodyweight exercises? Is that too much?
I feel like these exercises especially the heavy ones don’t isolate the glutes. Personally I don’t wanna squat because I don’t want to grow my thighs as well. I want heavy exercises that target the glutes as much as possible while not targeting the legs much
arm daydeclined sitting dumb bell curls with overhead arm extensions. barbell curls with tricep kickbacks. lastly preacher curls and weighted dips/or close grip bench. 3 biceps, 3 tricepsis that enough for a full arm day workout?
Please make a fitness starter kit!!! I feel a little lost on my journey, I am trying to get stronger and build muscle and really need help with tips and over all a direction as to where I need to go. Please and thank you!!! I hope you are doing well! Love your videos and all of your advice that you share with everyone.
What workout split are you currently using? Comment below! Hope you all enjoyed the video for those who haven’t already, do me a huge favour by giving me a follow on Instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/jeremyethier/ ) and Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/Jeremyethierfit/ ) as well for more informative content. Cheers!
Hey, i have a q about one of your older videos regarding your rehab for Glute imbalance. I just wondered how often per week you did the program for your imbalance that was set by your PT? Also did you do this alongside your own leg sessions? Sorry for posting it on here!!
Workout every other day.sunday off mon on Tues off wed on thru off frid on Sat off sun on -4 day’s a week
This was so informative! It’s such a useful video and I would love a fitness starter kit video on workouts! xx
Please tell them that you really have to change your diet in order to workout more otherwise you’ll only lose muscle the more labor you put in.
Hi please I have a very important question.I train my glutes at the gym thrice weekly, and I have a routine so I repeat the same excercises.I want to know if I can do different excercises on those three days and not necessarily repeat same thing every time. Please can I do different ones on different days? Will it affect my butt wrongly?
Everything works differently for everyone. Develop your own program and stick to it.
@jeremy ethier What if i talk mass gainer like on seriously mass gainer and train each muscle 3x per week..is it beneficial than training each muscle 2x per week with out mass gainer?
Wtf r u saying man…..we need to take rest to build muscles in 3 days or 6 days a week??? U urself is confused u shit man
How to do you guys workout 5 days a week and do every body part twice? 2 body parts a day for three days then rest 1 day then do another three days again doing 2 body parts will give you 1 day rest in a week.
I am on gear and train full body 5 times a week. My workouts are 4 hours long daily.
“Like this one right here!.. ding..ding..ding..ding..ding..ding…”
great video, my question is what would be the best shoes to workout, at home?
i just saw these two at the gym here in vegas. this is my second day back to the gym. i am whipping myself back in shape. i was doing a deck of cards workout when i saw them walk by
Hey y’all, that’s good to know y’all still hit the gym; that after years, it’s still worth it!
I’m sure you know about this but sharing in case people watching haven’t fallen down the Athlene-x youtube hole….jeff cavaliere has a really great recovery test: grip strength!
So can I mix some glute training in on my upper body day? My glutes respond well, so I would only train a couple days a week.
When It comes to your diet is there a certain kind of food you should be eating also while exercising?
id like to think 3 days a week is still a frequent or routine exercise, if done constantly.
Ditto on a video about making ur own fitness program!! I think you would nail it on the head with a stellar(clear & concise) how-to on this topic.
It’s always worked for me to train every day but do like 20 light weight reps followed by 10 heavy kill me with burn reps
Loved it girl! I have a hard time finding the fine line between progressing and overtraining!
Yes! Please make the video about structuring workouts and workout plans, that would be really helpful:)
it just makes sense, that 2x each muscle in week is superior.
for me i found that the most enjoyable Training Routine is upper Body day and lower Body day.
Having said that i like to go for a jogg 2 times a week so my favourite Thing would be to weight Train 2x times a week.
if i Train Monday Upper Body
and thursday lower Body.. repeat, will I make strength gains at all or will it be futile?
or will it just take longer for me to make Progress? ( I could live with that)
Thanks in Advance!
Was the 2 Times vs 4 time per week difference in hypertrophem significant?
I have seen lots of women lifts an amazing amount of weight and just growing big legs and hips. but workout you need to know exactly what you doing. it will grow even without weights just body weight if you doing it right.
So what about a body part that just grows, like legs, my legs grow and are bigger than my upper body. So I hit upper body more, is that correct?
Hello Dr. Phoenix I just found your channel and omg I love your videos!!! I’m close to the menopause years and decided that now is the time that I really need to get in shape. I would love a video for the older ladies! How to keep the weight off after 45
I train about 3 to 4 times a week for about 1:30h and I love it, it’s enough to make me sweat at the gym and really power my body out.
Age is a factor as well is it not?? I would think as you age, less would mean more due to possible longer recovery times???
I would love to hear your thoughts on coming off of ADHD medication Andy how to combat weight gain. I’ve been on vyvanse for about 10 years and decided it’s time to get off them but Ive already gained weight, I know those prob ruined my metabolism. I don’t have a gym or any way I can go lift weights.
yall gnna be rusty at first but i think break was necessary. come back strong, i need my daily fitness advice. maybe start a new channel monetizedtwins for them cash gainz.
How can you even train each group 3 times a week? 3 days arms 3 days legs 3 days chest and back. Like bro 9 days a week is my deal
People still watch them. Your two workout videos are your most viewed videos in the past 4 months
My question is how would you split up days and body parts… meaning what muscles groups to do together twice a week
Can I just ask a question don’t now if you will answer, but I was working out and then all off sudden my right hand just closed then I couldn’t open it, then my right leg locked up too soo I just thought dehydrated i don’t now though
If you train 7 times a week you don’t train hard enough. Twice is plenty for me and I gain at least so much as the gym dwellers.
The world would be a better place if we had a million more Dr. Phoenyx’s. Do we have permission to clone you, Dr. Phoenyx? I’ll be down in the medical laboratory awaiting your response. Thank you.
I work out the same muscles everyday and studies showed it is better
I workout 5 days a week, 3 days with 50 to 55 minute jumping ropes, and two days 8 minute tabata and strength training. I always workout at home.
SO HELPFUL!! Even without the clear cut answer of what too much is, this helped clear things up SO WELL for me!! Thank you!!!
Workout A
Flat Push
Vertical Pull
Deadlift
Tricep Ext/Bar Curls
Upper Abs
Workout B
Incline Push
Horizontal Pull
Squat
Dips/Db Curls
Lower Abs
Add accessory work as needed…
I train two times upper body two times lower body one time total body
1000 steps apart from your cardio? Or including your treadmill session?
How much does stress really impact recovery, I’ve been doing the same lifting program for a year and suddenly SO SORE from the same program/weight I’ve been using for months!?
Does the resistance training have to involve heavy weight lifting or do bodyweight training with small equipment like bands and dumbells paired with yoga also count as resistance training for building and keeping muscles?:)
3.1% better for twice the time and effort? Lmao get lost with that xD
Does it mean that should i not stick with training each muscle group 2 times per week but also change up in training 1 times per week? Like in the 1st week i train each muscle group 2 x and in the 2nd week train each muscle group 1x. Help bro i cant understand
I do full body 4-5 days a week. I love it as a natural. You need to know what you are doing though or you’ll burn out quick
Is it ok to train biceps and triceps on the same day my routine is
Sunday chest and triceps
Tuesday back and biceps
Thursday shoulders and legs
And friday i want to do biceps and triceps will that be ok to get my arms bigger
I really love coming back to your videos and using your channel as an encyclopedia of fitness knowledge:) keep it up you’re doing wonderful things ❤
My problem is that I’m sore for too long, especially my back.
Does working out 3 days a week mean you workout three days and then wait till the next week and then do three days again or does it mean that u workout three days and rest the forth day and then three days again
Using Advanced Training vernacular… has no meaning for non bodybuilder… working out doesn’t make you a bodybuilder… it makes you a fitness nut!
Dr. Phoenyx I love your videos. I don’t like the gym so I workout from home. How many days and how long should I workout a day?
This is my 5 day split
(Biceps and Triceps more Concentrated)
Monday: Shoulders + Triceps
Tuesday: Back + Biceps
Wednesday off
Thursday: Chest + Biceps
Friday: Triceps + abs
Saturday: Leg
Sunday off
After a month i shift this biceps and triceps concentrated split to chest and back concentrated or shoulder and legs concentrated; that is hitting them twice a week, so i rearrange the order)
YES!!! Do the video on how to build your own training program!!!!!
Can I alternate between legs and upper body 7 days a week? If not why so?
I just started my weightloss journey today. I think 6 times a week would be better for me.
Let’s show marisa how much we love her and pretty please continue subscribing to her YouTube channel Let’s get her to 100k and make her happy also let her know how much her videos mean to you❤
Never been this early. About my training its ZERO right now. Got diagnosed with hypothyroidism 9 mo ago and still haven’t found my dose of meds an 90% of the time I feel like shit. When I dont I try to keep up with uni. I used to make sure to hit 10k steps but my body is so bad with recovery right now that only walking that amount feels like running a marathon. It really bothers me that even minimum work out Will make my body hurt for days.
