How Often Should You Eat? New studies are finding that a shorter “eating window” may boost weight loss. A study published in a 2015 issue of Cell Metabolism concluded that among study participants more than half of adults eat for 15 hours or longer every day. They suggest that reducing your daily eating duration can aid weight loss.If you eat every two or three hours, as many experts now advise, your body will constantly be in what nutritionists call the “fed state.” This simply means that you are always in the process of digesting food.
Some dietitians recommend that you eat every two hours for a boosted metabolism. Others say you can just eat three meals a day without any snacks in between to attain and maintain a healthy weight. INSIDER spoke with several health experts to find out how long you should actually wait between meals for optimal health. That said, Harbstreet recommends eating every four to five hours if you opt for three large meals, and every two to three hours for six meals. “You want to avoid going too long without any.To eat three meals a day or to eat six small meals a day: that is the question.
If you have heard about or read Jorge Cruise’s new book, The 3-Hour.According to many experts, eating breakfast jump starts fat burning and 5–6 small meals per day prevent your metabolism from slowing down. But studies actually show mixed results and it.The rest of the day, for the most part, the only thing you need to worry about is getting in the proper amount of calories and in proper macronutrient ratios.
If you wait 3 hours, 4 hours, heck, even 6 hours between meals, you are going to be okay, I promise you’re muscles won’t be eaten alive. If you want to eat more often, you can, as long as you keep your calories in check. The Upside of More Than 3 Meals a Day While eating many meals may.Though there’s no hard-and-fast rule to how often a dog should eat, twice a day is generally a good place to start. However, more important than feeding frequency is meal portion size.
Now that you know there are no magical benefits to eating 6 smaller, more frequent meals a day, you’re probably wondering how many meals you should actually eat. Well, the general answer is that anywhere between 3-6 meals a day (hell, even 2-7) is a fine workable option for most people.A: Everyone needs to eat about every four to six hours during the day to keep energy levels up. People with type 2 diabetes usually have better blood glucose control if their meals and carbohydrates are spaced evenly throughout the day.
Too many carbohydrates at any one time can raise blood glucose too high, even if you take diabetes medicine.Just remember to stick to a few guidelines: Depending on how active you are, you should consume between 2,000 and 3,000 calories per day, Aragon says.Canned tuna is frequently a major source of mercury in the diet. However, tuna also provides a wealth of nutritional content. How much tuna should you eat.
How Often Should You Be Eating Fish? New guidelines reassert the heart-healthy benefits of seafood. One downside of increasing the amount of fish you eat.You can eat skipjack and light canned tuna alongside other low-mercury fish a few times each week, but should limit or avoid albacore, yellowfin and bigeye tuna.

A lot of myths running around about protein absorption in the comments. Guess I’ll be tackling that very soon!
ago figure eat when you’re hungry stop when your full. Listen to your body. Eat slow and without distractions.
It is great video. Also you can watch this video about diet and healty food https://youtu.be/C-1L84ZFzfQ. This video explain diet&healty food and What You Should Know to Eat Healthy.
Here before the end of the decade gotta get ready for the new decade
There is another important consideration: the more meal and snacks moments you have the more chances of getting caries
I eat 4 times per day and lift weights, I burn fat because I build muscle.
What about eating when you’re hungry? It usually happens 1-2 times a day
What about insulin? You spike your insulation levels every time you eat something which could lead to insulin resistance and weight gain. The more you spike your insulin the higher are the glycogen stores.
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger says in “Pumping Iron”. There is 24 hours in one full day. You will sleep 6, so you will eat 6 times in the day that means that you need to eat every 3 hours. That will be 18 hours wake up in the day. You do the math. Remember to incorporate your protein shake at least with 3 meals at least. 64 oz of water. Take care and God bless!
Chances of them winning any legal action or proving the product works? about 30x.
What about eating meals more frequently while cutting to prevent muscle breakdown?
I always laugh watching the beginning of this video. Doesn’t matter how many times I open this old one.
More smaller meals a day is a good thing for your health, you’re not overloading your digestive system, your stomach shrinks, you stimulate bile flow from your gallbladder which decreases chance of stones forming.
Just take what you would normally eat in 3 meals and eat the same amount in 6 meals. Or maybe get creative, instead of eating full plate of pasta, eat half of a plate and on the other meals, eat something else, in half quantity of that you would normally do.
As for the weight loss, I think it would not be because of the metabolism increase, it’s because on 6 smaller meals you will feel less hunger and not turn what supposed to be 3 meals a day, into 6 meals but with added snacks between 3 full sized meals.
Only eat 2 meals a day, some people think I have an eating disorder
I eat breakfast at like 7:20, then a snack (as big as a breakfast tho lol) at around 10:20. I then eat a big meal at around 13:30 and then i snack every now and then on bread with hummus or that kinda food till it’s time for dinner. I honestly eat so frickin much
eating frequency changes your insulin level.
Frequent eating is good for bulking.
Fasting is good for shredding.
Simple at that.
Eating 3 meals a day is the same as eating 6
I eat 3-4 times a day average
Sometimes 5 or 6 when I need fuel to move and exercise
encouraging people to eat when they’re hungry I’m sorry that’s surprisingly not good advice. many people struggle with food addiction and eating compulsions and have dysregulated appetites and so they may actually need some sort of a format or structure to facilitate a more balanced and healthy eating pattern. and regarding the blood glucose effect of meal pattern having spikes is actually not good even for non-diabetics. it’s called an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I’d rather have comparable area under the curve (AUC) readings with no spikes than comparable area under the curve readings with spikes.
It purely comes down to how much food you can consume in one sitting. Some people can’t eat very much in one meal so they’ll need to eat more frequently to meet their macro nutrient requirements and no, I’m not going by the whole 1g of protein/pound of body weight rule.
Great video. However, the more accurate conclusion from these research results may be more meals do not correlate with faster metabolism providing equal amount of total intake. We should keep in mind that, in a real setting, more meals may have mental effects(e.g., makes you think you had a lot of meals hence you consume less food in total naturally) or it makes blood sugar level stable so that less crave for (unhealthy) food.
A LOT of people make fun of the “It Depends” answer these videos use but the videos are still informative
A Japanese doctor cures %80 of his patients diabetes, high BP, and heart disease, by putting his patients on alternate day fasting! along with some herbs and vitamins on their no-food days. It is much easier than trying to be a nibbler all day long! When I have food in front of me and get started its not easy for me to say enough!
Ive been told that eating more frequent is an effective way to not spike bloodsugar. And in my own personal experienve, when i have too large of meals, i get sluggish.
That end though
Thank you so much for this videos, I trust you know what you are saying
It’s so hard to find the TRUTH now days what with everyone being a smart ass/know it all We don’t know what or who is real and what’s not! (with information and with people.)
Yet intermittent fasting helps weight loss, insulin, satiety etc
if you eat small meal then it’s easy for your body to digest the food. i am only agreeing with you 50%. my diet
1) eat 1 bread with 1 egg in the morning when wake up
2)eat 1 egg omelette with vegetable 11 am
IF YOU EAT IT LIKE THAT YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY HUNGRY AFTER 2-3 HOURS.
Thanks for this, great video. I was wondering, it it does not affect the metabolic rate/fat loss, do you know it it has any positive (or negative, or no) effect on the blood sugar levels?
I’we tried to eat 3 meals + 3 snacks now for a week, together with training for strength 3 times and conditioning 2 times a week. It seams to help with not getting as tired as I use to be, but it’s just been one week so it may be a little too early to say:)
i just want my belly fat to go… i am not big body but my belly.. please help
Marc is simply a business man. He doesn’t really care about his fans but just making money.
There is so much more to weight lose than metabolism, the over weight people should understand that.
typically, it all depends on the person, some people are not big eaters, so haveing 5 small meals is fin, others may be big eaters so 3 meals is fin,. so ya
Thx for your great job bro you make it simple to understand by analyzing lots of studies and debunk all those bullshit myths we need more people like Jeff nipard and you As a kid I used to read all those magazines written by fitness “experts” writing a lot of shit and unesearrly crapping my head with all that shit and now Im fuckin pissed of coz of those morons who think they’re smart coz I wasted a lot if time energy and was just a slave following all that shitty advice in those magazines believing everything what’s there it’s true (tho often those experts contratdict each other and are on juice)Fuck them I wish they kill themselves for my (and others)wasted time energy and stress
Each time you eat you spike insulin. If you eat a lot of carbs or mix carbs with protein or fat, the insulin spike will be even higher. Insulin is a master hormone which means it will dominate over other hormones as long as it is present which is very bad for your body in the long run. When insulin levels are high, the body signals back to the pancreas that something is wrong, that the insulin is not getting into the cells and then the insulin levels rise even higher. This is bad for the body in the form of insulin resistance and can also wear out and even kill the cells inside the pancreas that make insulin. This is all why intermittent fasting and keto are so successful…. They give the body a break from insulin spikes and so everything else in the body can balance back out, meanwhile then insulin can return back to normal function. I was personally pre-diabetic until I switched back to intermittent fasting with one meal a day and am slowly healing my body and insulin resistance is fading.
This 6 meals a day eating is the new fad. That’s why we’re the fattest nation in the world and getting fatter and sicker. We didnt eat little snacks growing up in the 60s and 70s. This is the worst advice ever. I eat 5 meals a week…no food on weekends and I’m 53 years old, no medications, 165 pounds and semi muscular.
So if larger meals burn more calories, what about one meal per day? I’ve heard of individuals taking this route and seeing benefits.
the only reason I think this 6 meals a day bullshit came about is competitive bodybuilders who need to have that high amount of intake didn’t particularly want to sit through perhaps 3 meals which would have been a lot of food so made more sense to spread it out a bit so it’s a bit more manageable. What should matter for is the daily nutrient intake you need for your goals which is most important, if you aren’t meeting it then not going to be as effective. If you can do it in 3 meals then doesn’t make a lot of sense to do 6 especially if you work during the day and can’t necessarily take time out to eat all the time. I only have 3 meals a day and i’m building muscle and reducing fat effectively, have plenty of energy and don’t suffer hunger issues, so no reason to add another 3 redundant meals which I’m effectively wasting money. Start at 3 and if you don’t feel you’re getting results or can cram in the nutrients then add another meal timing.
I prefer to eat more often coz the glucose levels in my blood is quite stable and I’m not feeling so sluggish
Txs for the video it explains a lot (don’t have to worry no more)
put a badge on it and a button up and they call you a pro. Is that a masters?. no a PHD?. no? Just another marketing idiot.
1:45
14 meals a day? u mean 1 meal that stretches thru the entire day right?:p
You should rename your Channel on ” It Depends” lol. Good Channel, Good Job
Whether it’s weight loss (fat loss) or muscle growth (hypertrophy), it’s not meal frequency, but the amount of food intake…for weight loss, just cut your calories, and intermittent fasting DOES HELP (Picture fit is wrong about fasting)…for muscle growth (weight gain), even just eating two meals can still help build muscle, as long as they are both very large nutrient dense meals…i suggest eat a big meal before workout and eat another big meal after workout…
Small meals is very beneficial, Less chances to store as fat, Less bloating.
Yea small meals every 4 hours is better then binge eating after your starving. Plus it gives the right amount of time to digest your food properly. Thanks for the vid!
So doesn’t your body store fat if you start eating less than what your supposed to
Ι don’t know I think 6 meals helps, plus what you eat, I eat the fat at morning,so it’s the first fuel and hopefully I ‘ll burn more the whole day cause it begins the process of fat burning, and I’ll eat low fiber carbs after training to blow up insulin plus in night I ‘ll yogurt for caseine and slow absorption with almond or wallnuts
Hi!:)
For me, what works the best is 4 meals a day, breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. I usually have them at the same time every day because it’s usually when I am hungry.
When you eat 3 meals per day or more, your body is always producing the storage hormone Insulin. When Insulin is up, Glucagon (the fat and sugar releasing hormone ) is down. Eating fewer meals each day is advantageous because it will put you in a better fat burning state.
My favorite natty bodybuilder recommends that you eat 8 meals a day is legit. Don’t make any excuse that you can’t do it. Whatever it takes, right?
Ok in the end it’s how much you ate total, but perhaps eating more frequently smaller meals help you to not overeat? I think when I go too long without a meal I just cook or buy way more food than I need. I think 4 meals a day suit me
It’s based on your daily calorie intake and your macronutrients, clearly. 6 meals per day is bullshit if you have to eat 3000kcal/d you can have it with 3 meals and 1 snack!
Okay, okay…do we fast or eat 5 times a day?? How bout it depends on your metabolism and genetics. The thinnest people I know have absolutely no schedule. Conversely, the biggest people I know have ate salads for 10 years.
Intermittent fasting works too for some people cuz they don’t really starve if they get used to it and get enough calories! whatever works for each person though! personally i don’t starve when i IF
Hey doctor, explain to me how to hell I lost 45lbs eating nothing but one meal a day…
Let me be honest this is true let me tell y’all why. I was doing this mainly having 5-6 small meals a day and i fell off that to just eating twice and i started to slowly gain weight bht now im trying to hop back on it because im slim fat not fat
This is bullshit…I have lost 30lbs in two months eating twice a day.. I didn’t eat anything for 18 hours and I had 2 meals in 6 hours. It did wonders to me. My belly size reduced greatly, my skin started looking young like never before. I am able to concentrate on my work better and yes I do have a cheat day once in a while. I eat whatever I want on that day and I am still able to digest properly. Eating small meals frequently to increase metabolism is a myth! It’s not backed by science.
I usually eat 3 meals a day and plenty of snacks. Like most people. How is that different to eating 6 meals a day?
Thank you for the infos. You have a great content on your channel ^^ I love to watch your uploads…
Small meals only makes you fat because youll always be hungry. its better one giant meal in the moorning and lose weight.
I use to eat 5-6 small healthy meals a day and felt fantastic and I was jacked and then slowly went away from that and ate 2-3 meals and got a gut and felt like shit alot. Small meals is the way to go but you got to be disciplined. Protein source with healthy carb source and some healthy fats. When I ate bigger meals my belly stuck out more.
I think I will pass on this advice. He’s probably 35 years old going on 55.
I’m training fitness, eating a small meal every 2nd hour have a really powerful effect on getting bigger but also maintaining a low body fat %, which will make you look ripped. but you need to know how much calories your body needs everyday and split it up to 6-7 meals
Look up Dr Jason Fung; he’ll explain why this is a myth we’ve been sold in recent years which is responsible for insulin resistance, obesity etc. Backs it up with studies. This fellow is pushing old paradigm stuff
Cant agree 2vs6 meals per day works the same. If you dont eat often enough you go catabolic. Also energy delivery will be much more constant if you eat often enough
eating frequent small meals???.. people have job to do to earn a living i suppose, rather than munching all the time…and eating frequently only harms your body!
Eat twice a day! And see how your body will thank you for this!
Dumbest video ever! This dude wants you to get sick so he can benefit from the money you going to spend visit his office and buying all his bullshit medications!
Works great for me and I have lots of energy when I eat like this
This guy is bought by the food industry.
Go 2 meals a day with no snacks. That’s the way according to New England Journal of Medicine:
Effects of Intermittent Fasting on Health, Aging, and Disease https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMra1905136
It is among the most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals as well as the oldest continuously published one.
I tried everything from intermittent fasting to keto to 6 meals a day. What works for me is fasting from 22h12h. Then eating 4 meals between 12h and 22h. Losing fat and building muscle.
A 1/4 of the food we eat is for our body thriving 3/4 is for doctors thriving
Yup, eat every hour or eat small meals 24 times a day…
Intermittent fasting great to give the body a rest. I do 16:8 everyday skipping breakfast. Then do 23:1 two days a week for weightloss
It depends on the hormone you want to affect. If you wAnt to affect your insulin hormone you fast and/ or eat spread out meals. If you want to effect ghrelin then you eat frequent yet very small meals literally 1-2 Tbls. I think in the end we need to stop suffering. We should eat all our hearts desire yet in very small portions.
I notice every video about eating small meals as often as possible is typically a decade old meanwhile fasting and eating larger meals is not only recent it’s what all those super in shape, lots of energy ancestors used to do. Js..
I wonder if this guy feel differently about his advice these days……I sure hope he does
This is totally an evidence that science is continually changing!
I am a Vata-Pitta type and have definitely noticed the difference when I leave enough time between meals for my body to properly digest the food! Eating balanced, full meals means I don’t have the blood-sugar lows I was experiencing before and have had less problems with incomplete digestion thanks for the info Sara!:)
OMAD or eating 1 almond 50 times a day, as long as you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose weight lol, i lost 200 lbs on keto and omad, so it works for fat loss, but i now eat 4-6 times a day and maintain my weight, the real problem in processed sugar and hydrogenated oils in everything now a days, people argue about how frequent we eat but miss the point of WHAT we eat. Just my opinion:)
This is a danger of education. Becoming an expert in BS. This kind of advice kept me addicted to food and binging. Fasting broke my chains to food. Weight finally coming off. This is as wrong as the old advice to not eat fat but carbs instead.
this is old study. now. finally. we all know the benefits of fasting. and Human bodies are really not designed to eat 3 time a day. fucking 3 meal shit invented by westerners. I am on omad for months now.. never been better. I dont get sick at all. my bloody gums cured. my acne cured.
Eating 6 meals a day works for me I’ve lost 40 lbs in 4 months!!
Fast or eat often don’t matter
Just eat clean and don’t go over your daily calorie need
So simple
it’s very simple = eat clean, eat about a fist of carbs per day and three fists of protein, don’t ever, ever eat processed carbohydrates like those you find in the yummy, yet evil, Cheerios box.
This is exactly how humans ate for tens of thousands of years to prevent type 2 diabetes, cancers and obesity…
NOT!
What industries will this benefit medical, food and big pharmacy yea that is who this benefit
It’s the key to never giving your organs a break and to easily over eating
Poor doctor! IF is the ideal lifestyle to lose weight. WHen a person’s sugar is dropped when he fasts, that woould an indication of metabolic problem.
Intermittent fasting is great if your not insanely active and want to maintain a fit and healthy life style, but if ur an athlete or super active u need to feed the body
I used to do a lot of cardio like running laps, but then I would get so tired and get sore legs the next day. It turns out I was not eating enough, or properly. When I switched to eating six meals a day, I no longer experienced fatigue as much or DOMS. I just wanted to share my experience with yall. Have a great day
Intermittent fasting. 16/8. Eating every few hours, you better be weightlifting and doing cardio. Packing your intestines all the time is not good for you. Fast and cleanse and you’ll be your ideal weight.
You’ll get cancer easily with this, our ancestors were not design to eat frequent meals
He is lost. We can’t handle 3 meals a day and he wants you to eat more than 3? He needs to study insulin.
I tried every possible intermittent fasting and water fasting: it didn’t help me to lose weight and I was binging, I had gastritis and it triggered eating disorder episodes. Am going back on small meals.
I started eating 6 times a day and i don’t know what happened, i think my metabolism got faster, but now i’m hungry every 2 hours or so
Wonder if i should fast 16/8or eat small meals threw out day.which one is the most beneficial????
What the fuck wrong with you need to listen doc eric berg you dont seem doc to me any more
You’re supposed to be a doctor?? Explain how this affects insulin!!! Jesus
This does not seem legit. Sure it works kinda sorta over time but why spike your insulin like that? i was at a dinner tonight and got into it a little with my brothers wife. She is a registered nurse and feeds her toddler gummy bears and refined carbs but my opinion doesn’t matter. She said she has lost some weight by eating every 2 hours. She’s not the first one to say this. I suspect whats happening is that you are screwing with your pancreas so much it just says “fuck it'” and stops producing insulin.
never take advice from someone who’s bottom row of teeth over laps that much.
I have a question: i eat about 400 kcal a day (I count them), do you think my metabolism will fail? I still work out almost everyday, and have gained muscles from that, I’m scared that I might lose them or my metabolism will worsen. I do eat healthy and consume protein through out the day and after my workout. I have noticed that it’s harder for me to workout (get tired faster) but I’m still able to finish it. I know 400 kcal is not enough for me but it’s really hard to eat more but I’m gonna try to eat 500 a day.
2:10 you gain weight because you were gaining muscle mass (muscle weighs more then fat)
Why is there only 3K views? and why are there no comments? What this guy said is spot on!!!
What if my body is telling me to eat a box of pizza and some fries every 4 hours? Should I do it?
I lift weights at (5am) 3 times per week. I eat 3 meals a day (eat every 6 hours). I do 10-15 minutes Cardio (Monday-Friday) before or after dinner. No snacking whatsoever between meals!!! If you’re an advance bodybuilder, you’ll need 3 large meals or add a 4th meal. Your biggest meal should be after bodybuilding!!!! Best to eat meat and green veggies each meal (maybe have a very tiny bit of complex carbs).
Why do people overeat when skipping breakfast, is because more than not they are too lazy to actually make themselves a square breakfast in the first place, and thus relay on too much processed and fast foods when they eat, whether at work, or when they come home. That’s it laziness leads to people overeating.
For everyone in the comments that are been joking about so it depends this and Depends that when you actually do deep research a lot of the information you’re going to find is not going to be black and white therefore sometimes it does depend
This video was so helpful!! Been looking for info on this but couldn’t find it anywhere. thanks so much:-)
can we not detoxify at night?
actually, doesn’t the liver detoxify all day?
don’t foods do some of the detoxifying functions on the body’s behalf anyway?
Are the statements in this video deduced from some kind of body of evidence or experimental studies I can look into or something
Thank you very much for this video!!!!!!!!!!! You are a life savior. This video and “How to cure bloating through your dietVata Dosha types?” are exactly what I have been thinking and going through within a raw vegan transition vs. cooked foods. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x0x
You can lose weight by eating 5-7 healthy meals per day, your metabolism speeds up and you burn more calories while working out.
Worked for me when I was a bicycle racer in my 20’s. But each meal was 160-180 calories and I ate whenever I felt like it-sometimes even up to 8-9 times a day. Not because of health, but because I was poor and a small toasted sourdough English muffin and a thin slice of (low quality dark meat) turkey ham amounted to that much. I chose sourdough because it kept me full longer for some reason. It was all I would eat unless traveling to races. Maybe the small amount of calories failed to trigger insulin or I was just young and extremely active.
I eat 4 meals a day. Wake up at 545….. eat at 615, 1015, 215 then 615. Go to bed at 930 or 945.
I’m a 55 year old man and I wanted to loose 34 pounds so by fasting from 20H00P.M. to the next day 16H00 P.M. (week days), I loose 1 pound every day
I watched your video. thanks for researched information.
I have one doubt, Please reply me.
that what happens if I eat within an hour.
I heard that body produces insulin after 55 minutes.
so how it will affect me if eat frequently.
Details:
I eat a banana and milk with protein powder (24 gm of protein) before leaving to job and at after I reached on job (30 min travel), I take breakfast with colleagues. So max difference in this two eating is 40 min.
Sometimes same happens when I leave the office in evening.
so is it good or bad.?
Please reply me.
I eat probably about 4 times a day and my stomach always hurts
People always search about the literal.. But If you read about Islam, and Sunnah ( Prophet Mohammed’s words ) He already said that before 1.400 years. He says ” Don’t eat if you are not really hungry, and When you eat your meal be sure yourself that you don’t top up ( Don’t make it full ) your stomach ” and then Move.. move for your goals. that’s it. so that, you ‘re not gonna be obese or something.
Hey buddy you look GREAT,I strongly recommend you to try out modelling.BTW nice info
I eat when I’m hungry murica but this channel is awesome don’t be fat
I just have breakfast lunch and dinner but I would have like chocolate or something
2 meals per day is bullshit if heavy training and 6 per day is i/a complete PITA and ii/insulin spike city
4 meals is the optimum balance for maintaining a decent metabolism and maintaining/gaining as you will be taking in at least 500 cals per sitting unless you’re a complete fucking manlet
Very informative video. But I guess I am still curious. What about eating 7 small meals a day to maintain energy? I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and it has been suggested to me by a couple doctors to increase energy. That and and a high protein low carb diet.
This bullshit called doctor has no fckn idea about a hormone called INSULIN or the KEY to fat loss that is triggered everytime you eat
nice video! I did intermitting fasting for 2 months and I was tracking my calories I was losing very slowly about to 2kg per month then I started eating 5 meals a day with the same amount of calories and I started losing very fast about 3-4 kgs per month! I did not exrcise more or slept more so cant understand why I had better results
Stop eating when full? After all that science fact, how could one say such thing?
I only eat one meal so hormones have no effect on what I do I’m only focused on my stomach hurting
For some people If can mess your blood sugar and raise cortisol..not sure if it’s healthy for people with high cortisol
Isn’t a piece of fruit and nuts considered a meal? I think the misconception with ‘x6 meals a day’ is that ppl think of a meal as a full plate of mum’s best cooked dinner with side servings.
They should say 3 meals and 3 snacks= 6 servings.
But then again, I’m no expert.
Far as I know, it’s all about the calories you eat vs the calories you lose.
your thoughts?
This video is problematic because its not definitive that skipping breakfast is ideal. In fact it’s the contrary, and overall there’s much more evidence supporting breakfast than skipping breakfast. you’re citing the few studies that oppose it but this case can be made for any health topic. there’s always going to be opposing findings for various reasons and views. Eating breakfast can cause what’s known as the second meal phenomenon in other words it’s primes the body’s insulin response so that the second meal is optimized. now let’s assume we skip breakfast now we eat our first meal as lunch then let’s say our second meal is dinner here’s the problem circadian rhythm science sir the body’s insulin sensitivity decreases in the evening. I eat breakfast every morning either first thing or I’ll do fasted exercise and eat a delayed breakfast. bet you never thought of that angle. and occasionally I will skip breakfast if I’m doing intermittent fasting. when we eat breakfast first thing in the morning it’s not just jump start metabolism it’s also we have a long time of being physically active or mildly active to oxidize those calories and optimize the body’s response to breakfast. regarding the meal pattern and colon cancer correlation, this is so vulnerable to many confounding factors. there are many foods that reduce the risk of colon cancer such as the allium vegetable family, a plant-based diet, exercise, etc. it’s possible that the folks eating the formula so they were eating the standard American diet and when they were stuffing their mouth 4 times a day it’s significantly reduce colon Transit time and even GI Transit time and typically when digestive function is slow it allows greater exposure to pathogens from digested food. then there’s the type of food that’s concerned which was probably not stringently controlled in that research. I personally eat 3-4 meals per day. That’s the sweet spot and not a high frequency. I think 5 or more is too much, but I also think 1-2 is too little and inherently problematic. 2 might fly but 1 definitely is extreme on the low end.
you make it sound a lot simpler than it truly is. The problem is, many people do not know when they are full, or they stop thinking they’re full and realise they’re hungry only a few hours after and eat the most filling junk food. That is why we have a spreading obesity epidemic worldwide…
A friend sent this video to me for my opinion. I usually hate watching these kinds of videos because they are usually littered with pseudoscience disguised as science (e.g. inappropriately extrapolating meaning from data, etc.). I was very impressed with the objectivity of this video. To the creator, thank you for keeping your opinion out of the equation—opinions have no place in science. Very well done!
Always Depends On The Life Style What You Do How You Live How Your Body And Brain Functions
I think what is good about several meals per day (5-6) is that it helps to control eating anxiety in some obese people
Essentially, you are recommending intuitive eating…..which, I agree, makes the most sense….however, sometimes the problem with this is…..you may not understand what feeling hungry is…..so you eat, thinking you are hungry, or depending upon what you eat, creates hunger…..so you eat…..so, although you simplify it down to intuitive eating, I don’t necessarily agree its all that simple…NOW, would you please do a vid or an email in regards to process soy products…are they healthy or not…or do they sponsor your enterprise here and that is why you don’t cover this topic??? Thanx!
As a dedicated weight lifter, I was taught for many years to have six meals a day to gain and maintain muscle.
That often meant eating when I was not hungry at all.
To make matters worse, even professional dietitians encouraged me to do this.
Words cannot express the feeling of liberation I had as I found out that this whole thing is bro-science.
Now I feel free to not only eat only when I’m hungry, but also try intermittent fasting every now and then.
I definitely feel healthier than before, and I’m looking a lot leaner too.
I eat 1 good healthy meal a day and exercise 6 days a weak, u R telling me i will get fatter??
In my case, I found this to be true. We do not have to eat because it is a certain time of the day. Intermittent fasting is great for me. Thank you for this post!
PLEASE USE ‘ENGLISH’ TO CAPTION FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING VIEWERS. DO NOT USE ‘ENGLISH AUTO-GENERATED’ AGAIN ANYMORE. THANK YOU.
pretty controversial…. skipping meals and starving the body of necessary fuel is healthy? maybe for obese people or over-eaters, but not everyone. other points too might only apply to certain lifestyles or people, but not really specified. id say irresponsible
I practiced intermittent fasting over the summer, never ate breakfast, and had a small vegetarian lunch if at all. lost 35 pounds
It is said that small frequent meals cause permanent insulin flow, which is associated to diabetes (appears to obese and bodybuilders). Could you give it a look for an upcoming video?
why are u always alone, why not be a grown man and get married and have a family
As a nurse I agree with everything you’ve said on this video. As a nurse and a person who has exercised regularly since the age of 16; I agree with every video of yours I’ve watched so far. Good sound advice.
3 meals a day say every 4 to 5 hours with no snacking, works for me
I think it’s anywhere between 0-300 cal a day that really works.
I eat every 3 hours. Hungry or not. pre and post workout nutrition is really important to me as well.
A lot of people who complain they aren’t growing are most likely not eating enough and or not eating the right foods.
How much should I eat a day?, how can I calculate how much should I consume?
Eat when your hungry… Dont over eat.. Go with your gut/instincts i think on that one.:P Salads are good to help you eat more. eat a salad and after you digest that you supposedly can eat more. Dont explode your tummy:(
when I changed to 5 small meals a day it changed my life I can now lose weight so so much easier and yes I dont get real hungry and binge now,I do get a little hungry but a glass of water helps heaps,I can now eat 2500 calories a day with ease 5 x 500 is what I do when I had 3 meals it was way way harder and I always couldnt do it,but 5 small meals I can
I find intermittent fasting works best me for since I only have about 1700 calories to work with. I do 2 meals. One small meal about 600 cal and one big meal about 1100 cal. The big meal i eat for dinner with most of my carbs and I sleep like a baby.
yeah can’t eat 2800 cls with 100grams protein a day unless its pretty much all at once lol, just a small breakfast of cereal or eggs, hardly ever oats and a huge meal at night for me where i enjoy every bite lol.
Watching this video was a relieve! I eat once a day, at night before I go to bed, usually 3000+ calories, I was afraid it might be bad for my health but now I know its ok.
Been doing IF for months gotta adjust marc and fasted training can occasionly work against you
Marc great videos man keep up the good work! Where can i buy your products in the UK?
Marc, Lee Labrada talks about smaller, more frequent meals when putting on size to keep the waist tight because the waist will eventually grow from becoming frequently bloated from eating larger meals on a regular basis. What do you think of this?
the people who built Rome where they on the Gear? So Rome wasnt built in a day guess they were natty:(
This is spot on Marc. It is really simple, but people like to complicate things for some reason.
anybody know why dextrose would put him to sleep and have that effect? Just curious
What about nightly cravings for sugar?? Do you get them? How do you deal with them??
IF or Intermittent fasting does work. I went from 180 to 161lbs in just a month. I was feeling light head for a week now I’m adjusting to it. The only downside is I losing all my strength for example before i can do dumbbell press 80-85 lbs now i can barley do 60lbs.
I think my favorite thing about your videos is that pretty much everything you say is back ed up, to me at least, with my exercise physiology degree
I remember Arnold saying he ate slot of diff meals because he was ok with just having a average 9oz steak in one meal
LMFAO the ruckus ad’s music is literally a 70 year old man saying “yea put some techno in the ad, kids love that”
Jon Anderson discussed this on Mark Bell’s Powercast. He basically said when transitioning from strongman to bodybuilding he had to increase meal frequency so that he could eat smaller meals because the large meals would stretch his gut. Any thoughts on this? seems like the only logical reasoning for bro style meal timing I’ve heard.
Hey Marc, I’m 15. Tall, lean, long legs. Dad was a powerful man. Should I go for calisthenics, power lifting, or just general fitness?
Even though you’ve not revealed your face, I’m guessing you’re bald from these animations.
GG marc. that is how you upload vids. a bunch of topics in 1 video. not 8 vids for each topic. Also, to believe marc or the twins hrnmmmm
