Are hormone blockers used in children during childhood before puberty in children with gender identity disorder known to be completely safe to use without ramifications later in life? I keep hearing this argument, but I have never been able to find any RCT or study showing no long-term longitudinal effects on children. I am all for transgender being able to transition and have sent many teens to our local pediatric transgender clinic with help transitioning and discussing these issues with people more knowledgeable than I. Are we transitioning earlier now for the mental health benefits without regard to the possible psychological/health ramifications down the line? Can someone enlighten me? I am tired of being called transphobic when I very much support their community, but I don't want to agree that something is 100% safe (like hormone blockers) unless there is a body of evidence stating this is so. Thanks!
