Help for Morton’s Toe The right shoes, with a high and wide toe box, can prevent the constant pressure on the tip of the second toe. Lacing the shoes to prevent the foot from sliding forward in the shoe with every step can help prevent toenail damage.Other foot pain is sometimes associated with Morton’s toe: If a long second toe rubs against the front of your shoes, it can cause a corn or callus to form on the tip of the toe.To deal with Morton’s Toe, which is a longer 2nd toe, buy shoes with a wider toe box to take the pressure off your foot.

Metatarsal pads are an easy way to address Morton’s Toe. A metatarsal pad can relieve pain by adding support to the shaft of your second metatarsal bone. This helps reduce the pressure on the ball of your foot and re-distributing it more evenly across your foot. The key to making it work is putting the metatarsal pad in the right spot.
Orthotic Insoles. Because walking with Morton’s Toe puts more pressure on the 2nd metatarsal, getting orthotic insoles is a must. The insoles can take the pressure off the 2nd metatarsal and make walking more comfortable. Here are some orthotic insoles with metatarsal support.

HOW I GOT CURED FROM HERPES VIRUS hello I’m from USA, I have been suffering from HERPES virus for the past 3 years and i had constant pain especially in my knees, During the first year I had faith in God that i will be healed someday, but this disease started circulate all over my body and i have been taking treatment from my doctor, few weeks ago i came in search on the internet if i could get any information concerning the prevention of this disease, on my search i saw a testimony of so many people who has been healed from HEPATITIS B, HIV/AID, MRSA DIABETES,HSV, ALS HPV. LEUKAEMIA,ECZEMA,PSORIASIS,Cytomegalovirus, and Cancer by this Man called Dr, Ekpen, and he also gave the email address of this man and advice we should contact him for any sickness that he would be of help, so i wrote to Dr. Ekpen telling him about my HERPES Virus he told me not to worry that i will be cured from this deadly disease i never believed it, well after all the procedures and remedy given to me by this man, few weeks later i started experiencing changes all over me as the Doctor assured me that i will be cured, after some time i went to my medical doctor to confirmed if i have be finally cured behold it was true, and now i’m cure totally with Dr.Ekpen medication, So friends my advise is if you have such sickness or any other at all you can email Dr,Ekpen on this email; drekpenherbalmedicine@ gmail.com or add him up on what-app +2349021966938.for assistance., for more information you can also contact me through this email; dannyalstona@ gmail.com
Oh shit I have this I thought I had a pebble or piece of glass stuck in my foot how is this treated? I’ve had this for several weeks.
Hi guys…. I’ve had this for many years on my left foot only to get worse as the years go on. I do also have fibromyalgia and I believe it makes everything worse. well, it’s now in my right foot. Is this normal???
I have pain everywhere on both my feet after I run and do several exercises that I do for soccer. It makes it extremely hard to continue, I’ve almost cried during practice because of how bad it hurts.
I got this bump on my foot and it feels like some kind of ball when I walk. However, it doesn’t hurt or make my toes numb. Is this morton’s neuroma?
Excellent video and thanks I have had alot of recent pain from this condition and this video was helpful! Where are you located?
The worst explanation of Mortons toe and associated problems I’ve heard.
Hi! You mention you have issues with cycling as well however you have a slightly different treatment. I am a triathlete and have had numbness when cycling for a while and now excruciating pain running and cycling and diagnosed with MN. Would love to hear what you do with your bike shoes. I have wide Lake shoes that are totally moldable so really cant get any better and still have issues! Thanks!
I would love to have this treatment. who do I go to and what do I ask?
Hold the insole pad against the sole of your foot and then mark the underside with a permanent marker at the point where you want the pad.:)
I had a toe remove but the one next to it stay sore in pain all the time been to 4 foot doctor they say nothing else can be done but cut off the other toe don’t believe that any other place I can go to get help
hi guys, the greatest info that i’ve had was by following the Natural Foot Wizard (i found it on google) without a doubt the best remedy i’ve tried.
this is the typical bullshit that podiatrists like to spew. There’s also a completely opposite theory to this bullshit that actually works, but would render podiatrists USELESS.
When I cocktails in Las Vegas I wore super high heels and constantly walked while carrying the tray (shot rep) I had callus on my toes and between the front feet.. gosh I Miss al those great cheap foot massage places we have there
I have that long second toe, and had bunion surgery on one foot years ago. It’s only been recently that I’ve started having the pain you describe. Mine acts up when I’m on the treadmill. It’s so discouraging when I’m trying to keep active and then this happens. Surprisingly, I’m most comfortable wearing my ugly Birkenstock’s, but obviously, not on the treadmill!
How do you tell the difference between the neuroma and a plantar fibroma? Different locations I think, and fibroma not a nerve bundle, isn’t that correct please? Thanks.
I’ve had Morton’s neuroma as long as I can remember. For the longest time no one was able to tell me what the problem was. I self-diagnosed it about a year-and-a-half ago after seeing one of your videos. My doctor agreed, that was what I had. He told me to get an insole for my shoes. The only thing that did was hurt the arch of my foot. In recent years it’s gotten worse and worse to the point now that there is only one shoe that I can wear and that’s a Crocs sandal. For some reason my feet don’t hurt when I’m wearing Crocs. Sometimes it’s hard to explain to people why, when I’m wearing my suit I have a dark pair of Crocs shoes on. I’m wondering is Morton’s neuroma curable or can the symptoms only be relieved. I’m told surgery is the only way to fix it, but I’m concerned about losing sensitivity in that area of my foot by eliminating the nerve.
The pain I get is more irritating. It feels like I have socks bunched up in left toe area, toes 2-3 left to right. If I take socks off, it feels better. But, thick, thin socks dont make a difference, or the shoes. Whenever I have socks on, it irritated the crap out of me. I initially had a corn on the inside of toe 3 a couple years ago, and I think this has cause my issue, as the corn is long since gone, but the irritation is there still. Is this fixable by your treatment?
I recently developed the Metatarsalgia on right side. no scale though. my shoes are bad though and I am going to change it. it is also associated with the tendinitis (sharp pain in heel -at the start of arch). any suggestions? which types of shoes I need to buy and from where? I I’ve in Italy (near Milan). Thanks
Brad, if you think this is the best option for Morton’s Neuroma then you have not had it severe enough. For minor or mild, yes this may ASSIST.
Unfortunately I can’t use a pad under the arch of my foot as I also have Ledderhose disease in the same foot as the neuroma.
I’m wearing Dr Martins. They’re the best shoes I’ve ever had but I’m still getting the pain on and off.
Maybe I’m doing it wrong but the pad makes it hurt more. I’ve tried placing it in different locations but the pain continues.
I’m a pointe shoe ballet dancer and experience pain in the ball of my feet, could this be the answer?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a humble way. All the best from Swansea in Wales.
I just tried that I think it really works it gave me Immediate relief
Thank you so much!
Update
A week later zero pain.
My foot was hurting so bad before I could barely walk sometimes.
I have this and it’s so painful! Can they do fat injections into the ball of the foot? Who the heck can wear shoes like that to work? Especially women?
Infelizmente tenho esse problema. Neuroma de Morton, incomoda e dói as vezes.
Thank you. Very informative. It seems like you really care. I like your ethos.
I have this problem but who cares i just wanted to see what is it i run 10k a day with normal workouts soo my feet are fucked up any ways
Limping all day…..went from 8 to 3-4 pain and not walking like a jackass
Hmm, that’s not treating the condition (curing it). More like ameliorating it.
I got burning pain in that area with my cycling shoes. Comes and goes and the pain moves to the arch also. Cycling shoes are so hard on your feet. As you described on poorly made shoes like a cup, that sure describes cycling shoes. Super hard soles of plastic that squeeze you toes together. I’ll try the pad. Sounds like a fix. Thank you very much.
I’ve been doing this about a 2 years. I can’t believe how well it works.
Almost instant relief
So glad for this help! This problem used to occur on longer bike rides, and now occurs on shorter (1 hour rides), making me “say bad things” as I rip my shoe off and hop like a bunny, a cursing bunny! I have hammer toes and high arches, so am more predisposed for MN. Looking forward to riding pain free again. Thank you, guys!
I have heard this described as greek foot.It implies an athletic foot.I have this and have on occasion had plantar facitis.
What is the name of the physician narrating and demonstrating in this video? What is the difference between “inter-metatarsal neuroma” and “inter-metatarsal bursitis?”
I have had Morton’s neuroma in my right foot for several years. My podiatrist recommended custom made orthotics. He said if after using orthotics doesn’t fix the problem, surgery can be performed, cutting the nerves. I though he said that. I have taken pain killers, but as I’m nearly 66, ibuprofen is not recommended for over 65’s. Can I have some sort of surgery to put an end to this Morton’s neuroma. The pain killer doesn’t relieve the pain totally and I’m very reluctant to take 2 ibuprofen when on the packet it says not to be taken for over 65’s. I’m possibly seeing my doctor soon to get a referral to the podiatrist, whom I saw maybe 5 years ago..
If you is interested in cures for plantar foot the best success that I have had was by following the Natural Foot Wizard (just google it) without a doubt the most helpful treatment i’ve followed.
Would this also typically cause a pins and needle sensation?
Mine doesn’t hurt. Just feels like I have something in my shoe in that area or a pebble when my shoe is off. Also it feels like my second and third toes are crossed even though they are not.
OMG great life hack! I’ve had this issue for a while now and never bothered to look into a fix. During running my foot would go numb (rock in the shoe feeling/numbness) and it would subside shortly after my run. This last run my foot stayed numb and I got to researching… so glad I found your video! I hacked up an old yoga mat and used some craft glue dots… brilliant! My 4 mile run today was awesome. THANK YOU!
I thought I could just strengthen the 2nd toe indirectly via the tib post Ralf raise:(
I have a Morton’s Neuroma so I followed your advice and made the insert for my insoles. It worked magically for quite a while, so thank you!! Unfortunately, the pain came back even when using the inserts, and I decided to see an orthopedist. He gave me a cortisone shot and after 2 weeks I do not notice any improvement, maybe the pain is worse. The orthopedist has also suggested I try alcohol to kill the nerve involved. I am becoming leery of his suggestions, as he says he has GREAT success with surgeries, yet I can’t find any information that substantiates such a claim. I have had very good luck with your recommendations in the past on other ailments as well, so I wanted to get your thoughts on cortisone shots and alcohol injections for Morton’s Neuroma. Thank you so, so much for the videos you post. For me, they have been life savers!
Thank you. Any videos or treatment strategies for plantar plate/capsulitis??
Hey, i think i have morton’s neuroma but i’m not sure because it only hurts if i try to felx my toes while standing and not all the time (when i walk) like everyone else.
Is it Morton’s neuroma or not??
You can buy a package of sticky round felt or foam pads made for padding furniture legs to keep them from scratching the floor.A package of about a dozen costs a dollar at Dollar Tree. Put a piece of athletic tape right on the sole of your foot in the area you want to pad. Stick the pad on that tape (not directly on your foot since its adhesive is not meant to be in contact with skin). Tape over that with another piece of athletic tape to make sure it stays put. When you do this, you can be sure of getting the pad in just the right place every time.
What do you do when you don’t want to wear tennis shoes all the time at home..
Thank you., very helpful. Would you please consider making a video on Joplin’s Neuroma (and include the Superficial Perineal Nerve)?
There are many components to plantar foot treatment. One place I found that succeeds in merging these is the Rohon Foot Care (google it if you’re interested) without a doubt the most useful remedy i’ve heard of.look at the great information.
A few months back when I just woke while trying to walk to the bathroom I accidentally slam my feet to the wall. The fourth toe become blue black for a awhile and after that I notice the swell never reduce and when I pressure the joint at the middle it stings abit. How to ease the swell and what is the cause of it??
I needed a much bigger bump than the standard ones so my doctor recommended these and saved my poor feet!!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BPD8WZG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
4 months ago, i rode my bike 20 miles then 33 miles with bike shoes and for the last 4 months i have had a pronounced limp with just about every step. it’s hell.
Okay so i have this but i swear if he touched my feet like that i’d die of laughter
Kudos for the video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you ever tried Mackorny Feet Ahead Blueprint (do a search on google)? It is a great one of a kind guide for Relieving foot pain minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate finally got excellent success with it.
thiose ar some really sexc feet:) pls more tahnks doctor:)
I’m giving thanks to a great doctor, i was diagnosed of herpes virus, but by the help of Dr Allen I was cure totally form herpes virus I really appreciate what you have done in my life dr allen ben on YouTube is a good remedy https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq-gn651xqma0ptp6_PfJIw
I will die i I can’t leave ANYMORE WITH THIS NEUROMA I’M ONLY FCKNIG 18 YEARS OLD COME ON NOTHING CAN HELP ME
It’d be nice if there was more than just temporary relief. I’ve had Morton’s Neuroma for almost two years now. It never goes away and I just want to blow my brains out. It is terrible.
I’ve been to an orthopedic doctor. I spent over $1000 for injections, inserts & appointments for this particular condition without the help of Medicare. It has helped but is still painful after walking briskly on the treadmill for 4 miles in an hour. What shoes do you recommend for this condition?
You do not discuss at all, the fact that the metatarsal bones can be very long, or that the second toe can be too long….causing this pressure and pain.
Almost word for word the same thing my orthopedist told me! He just recently diagnosed my condition, I thought I had a bone spur, looking forward to having less pain as a result of using these techniques.
I have severe ball pain and heel pain!’ Nothing helps, surgery?!?
You described what I have. Between big toe and the next one in. =( Have had since 2015. Staying off and ibuprofen help. But, if I run or stand for awhile, it hurts.
ive been recovering from metatasalgia after 2 weeks has been better with rest and ice. however my podiatrist provided me with orthotics few days ago which has worsen metatasalgia! back to square one.. back to resting again. pads like these certainly are the way to go. no more exy orthotics for me. thank you for your video
I am currently waiting to see a podiatrist at my free clinic concerning a possible, most likely, Morton’s Neuroma. I used to wear orthotics for over pronation. My question is: Can the same underlying foot dysfunction cause nerve problems in my knee? I also have in the same leg a numb spot on the outside of my knee, between the leg bones, along with fluid buildup. When I kneel, the pain is excruciating, especially if the pressure in on that spot. I have been told that one of my legs is longer than the other (back in the ‘80’s). I have hip and lower back pain. I have issues with the S1/L5, which is now fused, due to how my bones formed abnormally, naturally. I have been through podiatry, physical therapy and chiropractic care off and on through the years, but no one has ever put it all together and prescribed the best possible treatment. I have been reading about foot mapping and Biomechanics and wondered if that might be a good start to pain relief from my feet up. What are your thoughts on this?
I’m a runner with Morton’s toe and have chronic swelling in my 2nd MTP joint which is restricting my running volume. Do you have any suggestions how to alleviate the force going through my 2nd metatarsal and perhaps shift weight onto the shorter but stronger 1st metatarsal?
I have also utilised a metatarsal pad like you suggested and I think tis helps, although I’m not sure I’m placing it in the correct position behind the joint as sometimes it can be uncomfortable. Do you have any advice on this please?
You guys should do a Comedy Show Tour…while educating everyone on pain treatments. #Funny
No online cite yet? That should be a priority, dont u think? Tom L, Connecticut
Hi & thanks for the video.
I have to point out that the dummy foot you used has a short big toe, extremely short to the point of disturbing … sorry, had to be stated ♂️
I finally got an orthotic that addresses 1 and 5th met pressure but find that the ball of the foot feels worse when it falls through the indentation made for the 1st metarsal. Awful, nervy pain, any suggestions?
Mine is tightness and is going all the way down. Sometimes it feels like am standing on something
Repent of your sins turn to God He loves you Jesus died on the cross for you so you can have the gift of repentance this world does not love you but God does He loves you more than you could ever imagine He will always be here for you when no one else wants to be here for you we are all sinners in need of a Savior Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and He is very real guys He didn’t come to die first so we would perish but he came to give us a chance at the gift of everlasting life and He also came to make us have life more abundantly so take this chance and repent of your sins and repentance is rebuking your sin and turning to God and we have to remember God is eternal but people die and we cannot get attached these materialistic things because we cannot take them with us we should cling to God and during these times of chaos we need to pray all of the time not just in these times God does not like to see us hurting because He hurts with us He allows things to happen for a reason turn away from your sexual desires and dreams God he’s more important than that you know if you want to get to know God more you should try to read His word more and pray before you reach His word to ask for understanding and be still and know that He is God
So you don’t inject, you don’t operate, but you know what the best treatment is…???
Great tip for abating pain caused by Norton’s neuroma and more generally metatarsalgia. And best of all, this is a great occasion for some good old-and cheap!-DIY.
Suggestion: use Dr Scholls’ Mole Foam w/ adhesive backing, and place the cutout on the bottom of the removable insole as opposed to taping them on the top (as suggested in this video).
Also, be sure to get wider fitting footwear with a generous toe box (NO other way around it since it’s the culprit for your foot pain!), and learn how to massage and stretch your feet appropriately (including your toes!).
I agree with one of the other responders below, i.e. this is total BS… selling orthotics makes podiatrists money, fixing the problem apparently does not. Twelve years with this C_P and no doctor out of 20+ have done me any good what so ever. Now on opioids for years, I see no end in sight. I have spent over $2,000 on custom orthotics and more on over the counter items. I have even made my own and they were the best of all. None did the trick. This is a problem that has a solution. No doctor cares enough to open up my foot and see what the real problem is. Increasing pain for the rest of my life, was one diagnosis. Thanks Doc, you really did your job… you idiot!
I need help figuring out what I have.
The pain on my foot is where Mortons neuromas pain is at but it doesn’t hurt when pressure is applied. It’s been hurting for about a week now and its usually at night when I place one foot on top of the other. And only when my feet are cold.
Sorry not clear the exact shape and look of the small piece you added. To the circular one. Thanks
Oh my goodnessthank you!
I watched, I wondered what I had at home that I could instantly try, I went to my button collection and tried pressing an average, smooth, disc shaped one in the area you describe. Seemed good, so taped it to the underside of my insole Bingo!
Hi! Used this technique with a new pair of Hoka running shoes. I was able to train and finish an Ironman 70.3 race and an hal marathon two weeks later, with no pain! I also use a toe separator (only one, between 2nd and 3rd). I had to improvise my pad using paper tissues. Not perfect, but worked.
What if I developed this pain after I received custom orthotics
Thank you. I was crying in pain from this and my podiatrist was for shit. You saved my foot!
Hi Bob and Brad! I just love your videos (especially in the morning with my tea). Your wonderful personalities/voices really calm me when I have an ailment. Brad, you are a hero for your tip about Morton’s Neuroma! The use of pads like this has really been a lifesaver. I am re-watching this video today (just as a refresher) and I was reminded not to massage it. I recently had a foot massage with a pedicure and my foot pain increased afterwards and I know it was the result of pressing right on the “bad” part. Hope you guys have a wonderful day!

Is it bad? Does it mean something bad?
Update I don’t think I do but my other toe is longer but I don’t get pain between the toes I have had lower back pain and when ever I run the sides of my feet hurt but that’s something else I just need bigger shoes I don’t think I should worry but I would like some feed back from these doctors from googling half the symptoms don’t match me
Thank you so much for this video. I have been in excruciating pain and awaiting for ultrasound to confirm what doctor thinks is Mortons neuroma. I’ve been wearing a boot to immobilize but have just created a duct tape cushion as recommended and I can walk in regular wide toed shoes with nominal pain. I have been icing but will work with heat. Hopefully I can avoid steroid shots or surgery. Thanks again!!!
Amazing how well this works. I found that Croc flip flops made my feet feel good because there’s a little ridge on top of the little bulge of metatarsals that I guess helps spread things out. The pads work great too.
Hi there, my problem is a strange one, I have no ball in my foot…no pain when pressed…my problem is that when I wear any size or shape shoe…my left foot all of a sudden begins to tingle by my 4th toe, then it gets extremely painful and I need to kick my footwear off to rub my toe to get the feeling back and the pain to go…sometimes when I stand my ball of my foot clicks like the bones are fighting for space in the ball of my foot to stand. it’s now becoming dangerous as it’s happening whilst I’m driving, I’m finding myself desperate to pull over to kick my shoe or boot off to rub my toe…I have 2 kids…so not good…but went to doctors and she said I have a torn ligament…do I use these remedies your offering to help it?..do I have Morton’s?
Just put somtging under your big toe joint to make it hit the ground first
My pain started in my calves, went to my heels and then to my metatarsals. I love having a new pain each day.
So we put a pad in one shoe not both right? I have a neuroma on my left only.
I’ve been suffering from Morton’s Neuroma for 6 months after my last marathon, and haven’t been able to train for any races since. This treatment saved me! And it’s so simple and easy. Thank you so so much Brad!
Maybe when you find the right spot you could mark it on the insole. Thank you for this, I’m definitely going to give it a try!
I feel no pain just feel numb with 2nd 3rd toe.. happened from wearing heels that was high in the heels but low in platform, I think the blood gathered all the way to the front for that reason and caused pressure I’m not sure but its really annoying and scared its permanently damaged..
What I would suggest as it has worked for me is to buy a “toe spacer” which you can find online or at walmart and put it in between the toes of the problem area and this may help alleviate the pain. I went from being on FMLA from work for weeks with intense pain to no pain with moderate discomfort after the spacer which I wear all day.
I have this. I thought I needed surgery.
Until I found it very easy fix. Tape a piece of Styrofoam to the insole of your shoe about in the center of your foot.
It fixed my problem 100%
cannot hear you guys. My volumn is full blast even using a speaker with my computer.
Very informative video, thank you for sharing it with us! watching this is 2019!
unable to submit my query for further information re orthotic management in your web site. Advise please.
My podiatrist said I need to do for both feet what I do for one. From the video this doesn’t seem necessary? Thanks for the great video!
this is so wrong. don’t listen to them, don’t play with your feet. go to a modern foot health center, get your feet anatomy and walking analyzed (thanks to technologies!), let them produce a custom insole for you, use it. you’ll never want to take them away.
If small scale fixes like this don’t work, radiofrequency ablation is the way to go. It’s minimally invasive (I hardly call it real surgery, even though it is). It’s a short procedure, recovery time is minimal. You’re back and running in 3 weeks.
Can you ice it or stretch it? Bc the pad doesn’t heP me. It only adds to the pressure.
Thank you so much for making this informative video. I really appreciate it.
can u get metatarsalgia when ur a child cuase im 11 and on day i woke up with my bigtoes side hurt im worieed
I have this but have a lot of pain in the toes too. I don’t know what to do. I have the pads and tried this but they only last so long. Maybe I have it up too close to the toes? The pads? I wonder if I bring them down some. I wish there was a cure for this. Its ruining my life.
So thorough and helpful!!! He’s absolutely the most well spoken and informative person/doctor I’ve heard speaking on this subject. I wish I could go to him for surgery!
What if the tingling and numbness is on the 1st and 2nd toes? Is that still Morton’s Neuroma?
This was not the answer for me. Tried moving it to all different spots but no relief. The answer for me was to take two insoles (the ones I used were thin) one on top of the other and then cut out a rectangle where I was feeling the pain. Not sure how this will impact the rest of my foot over time but at least it is relief from the problem.
Hello.. I am 18 yo and I have Morton’s neuroma like 2 years and I did all the things that doctors said but nothing help me.. they said that the last change is the surgery. If you know something that is practically and can help me pls contact with me.. SOS ONLY 18 YEARS OLD
this is money making for the doctor…he says u need to come back WEEKLY to get the injections so they can find the right spot where the neuroma is…um…ULTRASOUND and u find it 100% guaranteed. If you think you have one or the specialist does then just ask for an Ultrasound and not bother with the weekly injections. And you CAN get neuromas in between toes 1 & 2. I broke my foot hi up across metatarsals for the big toe and now have a large neuroma in usual spot but toes 1 & 2 and also 3 &4. I have not worn tight shoes in 40 years but i use to walk a LOT everyday on gravel surfaces and then as I said I dropped a large piece of wood on my foot and broke it….otherwise thorough info…
can an orthotic also assist this phenomenon from progressing into pain on the neuroma? Meaning if one wears an orthotic, can that be brought to the orothic person when sizing up your needs to ensure this is also taken care of?
I have the pain and feeling of walking on rocks, but it is under my big toes and pinky toes of both feet. Would this kind of pad be helpful? It sounds like mine is not Morton’s Neuroma, but something similar?
Hi Guys, I had FOUR neuromas…so I opted for surgery. I’m now pain free:)
What do you recommend for coccydynia (8 months on).
Can you do an update on this one please if there are any new products or strengthening exercises which may help-thanks.
very informative and straight forward video. thanks very much!
I swear I have this rn and when I step on this part of the foot it feels like I’m stepping on a nail
Thank you sooo much! This is good info. on an area that my clients frequently complain about. I’m a personal trainer. There are so many joints that can go wrong in there. This poor person shows signs of trouble on the outside of the foot too.
So during winter, I’m using these dr. Martens boots. They’re not exactly narrow right but my feet are kinda wide flat footed, so I guess for me it’d count as a narrow shoe. I’ve had similar boots, same thing. But, it’s only occasionally been telling me by this “clicking”, so I never gave it much though, just felt strange. But this winter, I felt it more and more, but never once running which I do every second day. So I did a quick test before heading out, put on the boot, lifted myself up on the toes, click, did the same with the running shoes, nothing. But, it seems I had pushed it too far, long walks in the boots, and now I’ve had pain/discomfort walking for over a week! And no running, sigh.. So this inflammation of the nerve, doesn’t it just go away if you’re not bugging it??
I have one. I am a cyclist. I know there is a point load very near the neuroma due to foot position on cleat.
Since you did not bring up application of your therapy for cycling shoes, Would you place the devise in your riding shoe?
Or is that unproductive? I am not in pain, just the marble in the foot feeling.
Thanks for your reply
Are there any vitamins or supplements one can take to help aid or speed up the heeling process?
I found that avoiding any shoes with a heel helped a great deal, along with plenty of cushioning (as stated in the vid). I stopped running while healing the metatarsalgia and instead I used an elliptical machine at the gym which kept workouts pain-free during and afterward. I wore my nice cushy running shoes all day instead of wearing shoes that aggravated the condition. The biggest factor for me was not wearing shoes with heels, since elevating the heel shunted the weight onto the ball of my foot.
Awesome video. I now have many helpful tools I didnt have before watching this. Thank you
So by using a pad and reducing pressure the neuroma will shrink/go away over time or will it remain? Thanks!
dr. i have a question, I already have my orthotic insoles and the pain just came back after 2 years and now is on both feet. so apparently my orthotics are not working no more… so tomorrow I m going to get my first inyection on my feet. I d love to be able to do my 5 km runs, so my question here is DO I PUT THE CUSHION UNDER MY ORTHOTICS? OR SHOULD I JUST NOT WEAR EM ANY MORE AND PUT THE CUSHION UNDER THE NORMAL PAD THAT COMES IN THE SHOE?
I have not able to walk for close to 4 months due to very painful nerves under my feet. It is killing me. Any suggestions
Padding in shoes MAKES THIS WORSE FOR ME, barefoot or flat shoes BETTER. I KEEP SEEING THIS ADVICE
I have spent months researching into plantar foot treatments and discovered a great website at Natural Foot Wizard (google it if you’re interested)
I have never had a problem with this while walking but my left foot gets sore in this area when doing calf raises it’s made it too difficult to work out regularly is there something I could do for this or is there an exercise that could replace calf raises
Can’t wait to try this. So far best thing has been chacos as well as vibram 5 toe shoes but this may help me wear all my other shoes.
I didn’t listen to what he said….too focused on the scaly things on the ball of foot….
to the PT in the video, have you had a cortisone shot for your MN?
Can I have Mortons Nueroma between 1st and 2nd, I mean specifically on the 2nd one?
I have this. It irritates the heck out of me. Ive had it years..I do 20 mins of exercise a day then have the pain for hours after. I’ve always worn comfy shoes BUT when I was 13 or 14 I bought a pair of shoes that were too small for me and being young/stoopid and wanting to follow fashion I wore them and Ive never really worn heels since. DON;T DO IT KIDS!
How can I be sure if I have Morton’s Neuroma or Metatarsalgia? It hurts even when I graze the area on the ball of the foot so I’m assuming it’s a nerve issue. I’m trying to decide if I should go to the emerg as the pain is so bad and I don’t know what’s causing it other than using dr. Google.
Hi, What shoes are you holding in this Video? It looks like Ahnu? Is it Men’s or Women’s? What brand and model would you recommend for men, flat feet with no fat cushion? Thanks
It is also called Greek toe or Royal toe too. An old lady friend of my mum said one day when i was walking around home barefoot, “oh you have royal toe”… I started to research it as i’ve always been curious why i have it. Funny thing is only couple years before that i found out my father is Greek, and this name is very ancient. If you look at ancient Greek sculptures you’ll notice most of them have “Mortons toe”, It was actually the desired form for them. Whether or not it’s entirely true who knows, but i don’t see it as a negative thing anymore:)
Yoga toes work amazing. I’m not associated with the company btw. Just my experience. Thanks for this video though.

I have a soreness in this area in my foot it hurts when i press in the area i also feel something moving maybe a thin bone? I have had it for way too long now it wont go away.
I have Morton’s Toe, is the application and placement the same for this? I have Plantar Fasciitis. Thank you
As a professional ski boot fitter I deal with this problem on a fairly regular basis. An easy way to figure out where it goes on the insole is to find the hollow spot on your foot just behind the ball. Mark it with…..lipstick. Yes, lipstick. Remove the insole from your shoe, place it on a flat surface. Carefully place your foot on the insole as it would sit inside the shoe and stand up. On shoes that have been worn a while you can usually see where your toes have left imprints on the insole. The lipstick will transfer onto the insole and now you know just where to put the pad which is called a metatarsal arch.
I recently got this from a new pair of dress shoes. Never had it before. I stretch the shoe out with a shoe stretcher and it fits but my foot needs to heal.
Is there any correlation between Morton’s Toe and Hallux Limitus? Please direct me to any information relating the two!
How do you correct the metatarsal pad when it has shifted forward towards the toes?
Also it should be noted it can happen between all of the metatarsals. Mine is between my big toe and my second toe.
I did the same thing…. until I found ABEO shoes and orthotic insoles! WOW, what a difference it makes! ABEO makes insoles with high arch support and they have that metatarsal bump in it, which is a life saver! They also have flip flops, men’s and women’s sandals, dress shoes, walking and running shoes, boots and ankle boots!! They even make a fuzzy orthotic for your bedtime slippers, or they sell slippers with it built in. You can buy online or try them out at The Walking Company!! Your feet will love you for it!!
IF I WEAR A SIZE 12 EEE WHAT SIZE SHOULD I BUY OF THESE???
New Balance Pressure Relief Insoles with Metatarsal Support IPR 3030
After about one thousand dollars later on shoes, orthotics, pads, custom, Doctor ordered and self made, NOTHING took the pain of my Mortons Neuroma away. Let me repeat, NOTHING did ANYTHING for my condition. Finally, I found a Doc, recently out of school who was not a wuss and he said, “let’s cut that damn nerve”… I replied, “when can we do this?”… now healing, I can tell all who have this condition… try anything you may want to, but when push comes to shove, cut the damn nerve. Don’t look for the right doctor for 13 years, as I did, find the right doc now who will jump in and do this. This is the very definition of minor surgery. It is done under anesthesia, but so what? Do you love pain or freedom from it? Cut the stupid thing, nothing else works, trusts me!!! And as one other said, the pad does not fix anything, it just puts a bandaid on it.
I have flat feet and after about 30 mins of running the balls of my feet start to ache and burnany ideas on what this can be it restricts me to running under an hour
