I think it is a paid announcement for the Palm Oil manufacturers.
ouch!!!!, just eating me some egussi vegetable soup with some palm oil in it and some cauliflower rice.Yummy!!!! keto all the way
Mike, thank you very much for the explanation. In addition, I must comment that Ecuador is the bigger exporter of hearts of palms. We produce 100% cultivated palms, protecting our jungles by practicing a sustainable agriculture. As you state, the french is the most important market for our hearts of palms, but we know that, as soon as you americans discover the delicious taste of this product, will soon become the largest consumer country in the world. Please google Proceconsa and visit us. Thks
…Dr. Berg, what is your stance on blood type diets? thanks
Keep meaning to watch the video for what is intended…but only watch the teeth. Video ends…and I realise I only watched the teeth AGAIN, not paying attention to the topic! FFS.
Thank you, Dr. Berg, for this video. Just 2 days ago I had 12 X-rays of my chest area!! I immediately was concerned with HOW am I going to mitigate the damage of all of this! I SO appreciate it when you show or tell us good sources of whatever your videos address! This is a HUGE help for so many of us!! The good news is that my chest X-rays were clear. The X-rays of my sternum showed that the cartilage separated from the bone, making it protrude, but is not dangerous and might heal in a few months. The Dr. suspects trauma to the area. Over the last 4 years I’ve gone from standing and even sitting, to ending up on the ground or floor! That delightful experience happened multiple times a day for over 2 years. I guess the cartilage just couldn’t hang on any longer and let go a month ago. I’m just very grateful that there is no indication of tumor or cancer, which was suggested before the tests! I will be getting some of this oil to take internally as well as applying to this area! I figure that I’m doing pretty well for the shape I’m in!! Y’all have a most blessed weekend!!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful information on palm oil
Is it safe to consume refined palm oil? Besides ECO friendly and etc.
Doctor berg, I m lucky I know what u r talking. Because I switched coconut to red palm oil and not only I tested my good colestrol increase also I can easily go toilet as it act as a lubricant. But u need to inform your viewers, its non refined palm oil for one spoon a day. Palm oil yellow refined cooking oil is only good for cooking. Yellow oil Health benefits not as powerful in comparison to red palm oil unrefined. Also red palm Oil fried egg and friend rice taste so delicious
Where in the world would I get those? I’d love them in my salad.
I live in Malaysia. Most of us since childhood eat palm oil and coconut oil. No problem until Western country told us they are bad and should take corn oil etc.. Then we all got sick. Malaysian prime minister Dr. Mahathir who is now 94 years old tells us to drink 1 table spoon of palm oil perday for health. Btw red palm oil is damn cheap here.
HI Dr. Berg. Thank you so much for this information!! If I’m allergic to coconuts and sensitive to almonds, how likely would I be to be allergic to palm oil? Is it in the same family?
Thx, Dr. Berg. Red palm fruit oil (not the kernel oil) has a distinct taste, and is used in a variety of African dishes to for it’s fat content and flavor. It would probably be an acquired taste for Americans.
Recently, a lot of West Africans have been avoiding palm oil because of a false, widespread rumor that it is high in cholesterol.
Thanks again for getting the word out about this liquid gold.
I hear that palm kernel oil is great, too. In Cameroon, it is used mainly for skincare, though. I’ll try cooking with it soon.
I’m watching this while frying my rice with egg and palm oil ;-;
I’m glad you made this video. I wasn’t sure if palm oil was one of those stay away from oils like soybean or canola. Thank you
Do the vitamins degrade completely with cooking? I don’t much like the taste for use in salads, plus it’s waxy. I do like it in say a meat curry or something with spices. Thus my question. Thanks anyone who knows.
Palm oil is a godsend. There is no other non-animal fat that is so low in omega 6s. It was demonized in the 70s by some coook in the US.
Saw these while online shopping at BJs and had to find out what they are. Adding them to my cart because now I’m intrigued.
Learn about it from watching Naked and Afraid on Discovery Channel.
is palm oil in non dairy creamer is it harmful does anyone know
I’ve suddenly 4 LG cans of them..
What can I do
I don’t eat meat or dairy..animal products so what can I make with them Not salads though
New research links low-carb diets like Keto and Atkins with AFib and lower life expectancy. Here’s why many heart doctors also don’t recommend going low-carb. Thoughts Dr. Berg?

I don’t know what kind of pretend doctor you are but my uncle went to medical school and he’s a real doctor and he’s also a nutritionist and he indicates that palm oil is extremely dangerous for the human body that it causes severe cardiovascular disease. Stop feeding this crap to people online
God bless and prosper the people who work in the food industry; who prepare and package our food.
No health benefits. It’s the thickest vegetable oil & a quick ticket to arterial clogging. Extremely awful. The worst of the worst. It’s worse than canola & canola is a big hit to your arteries. Lol. Just save your bacon fat… and eat that.
Hey Dr Berg palm oil gets a LOT of bad press. Can you produce a longer version on it’s benefits please?
Try reading Fat Land, How American became the fastest people in the world
Had these at a Fogo De Chao salad bar. They kinda taste like artichoke hearts, only better. Delicious.
I’m getting the impression that the old guy from Jurassic Park and Freddie Mercury had a kid
In Asia most the of the Palm oil that we use are in fact RBD Palm Olein which is Refined bleached and deodorised and not at all Palm oil…
How do I used it? Can I eat it from the jar or put it drinks or do I cook with it?
Evil Content. Berg has been bought by the palm oil producers. Refined palm oil is toxic.its in everything.cakes biscuits etc. It will kill you.!
They came to West Africa preaching everywhere how red palm oil is so dangerous for the health, that Africans must stop eating red palm oil. Immediately after that sermon, there was serious shortage of red palm oil because almost all of it was exported to the Western world. Any West African who can remember that period can confirm this. Of course many people in West Africa never stopped since it was/is still a cheaper alternative.
i saw some at costco made by Del Destino….is this a good brand? two jars for over a little 8 bucks
Thanks for the video Dr. Berg. The natural nut butter I use has palm oil in it. It’s good to know it’s has some nutritional benefits.
(1)Palm oil is make from the pulp (mesocarp)of the fruit,
(2)Unrefined or partial refined is call red palm oil, refined to golden color is refined palm oil
(3)Whereas Palm kernel oil is extracted from the seed of the fruit.
See the orange colour,is pulp(mesocarp) and the inner core white colour of the seed is Kernel where palm kernel oil is extracted so called palm kernel oil
If you want to get the best type of palm oil that has all its natural attributes, make sure it’s coming from west africa.
They’re a delightful treat. I enjoy them with all sorts of things, but I especially like to dip them in a creamy dressing.
Palm oil is a major nigerian meal component in nigeria(Africa) and the health benefits are amazing. It’s the best oil you can find.
I treed these for the first time today and they are delicious!
Love them, In Brazil we pair it a lot as a side dish with steak
Recently a company has begun to make a pasta substitute from cooked and sliced hearts of palm.
Hi Dr Berg
Using Palm Oil for frying, will the vitamins and benefits be destroyed after going through high heat? Just wondering as I planned to switch to palm oil for frying.
And do really appreciate your informative video.
Thank you for this informative video Eric. I did not know until today that you actually have a storefront. I will visit.
Palm oil on face, is that useful for something? I have some slightly sun damage on my face, can I expect palm oil to heal it/help it, or is it useless? I prefer to heal things from inside and out, by eating, but I guess I can always ask about useing it on the skin. I know it has a lot of vit. E, whish is good.
Hope they are everything…… healthy you said!…. Beneficial to toss in a salad for sure!… I’m excited… so good!
Do people know how damn long time it takes before palm oil tree start producing fruits that can be harvested? At least 5 years! The tree only need “special” care during this growing period. Most of family owned plantation wil use organic pesticides to help the trees grow healthier. Once it start producing fruits, all it need just occasional trimming of the old leaves and harvest the ripe fruits 1-2 times a month. The soil and irrigation system are the most important aspect to ensure it live healthy life and maintain fruits production for good 20 to 30 years. There is no such thing as pesticides garbage westerners talking about needed for the tree to continue producing fruits.
Can you please bring information about Beef Tallow benefits. Thanks
Doctor you are great. I love the way you speak English, so elegantly, not at all like the majority of the people on YouTube, who scream as if they were in a war. I am European. Thank you so much! Btw I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, I refuse to take Euthyrox and follow a healthy diet instead, with a lot of Omega 3 and iodine, which are things I haven’t eat for the past 10 years. If you can give me an advice I would appreciate it very much. Best wishes
Palm oil is cheapest in India, most of it imported from Indonesia, Malaysia. It is most consumed oil in India.
Olive/soy/etc oil need twice area than palm oil plantation with just 1/8 of oil extraction in the same size farm land compared to palm oil., that’s why palm oil cheaper even if the quality is better compared to other oil.,
And they say palm oil isn’t “eco” what???
They say “eco-friendly”, while my ear hear “eco-nomy”..
Just because palm oil planted on rainforest doesn’t mean other oil is ecofriendly cause not planting on rainforest dude,
Everyone love orangutan, but this world not all belong to orangutan, what happen if orangutan habitat is in your country, should world say soy/olive/etc isn’t eco friendly,?? get your fact….
Those oil destroy more nature than what palm oil do., and palm oil only growth in tropical land which mean rainforest area, so what did you expect? Move it to the moon??
So palm oil bad or good?
Shortening from palm oil used for processing food.
Probably bad right?
The western world needs to embrace sustainable palm oil as clearly explained in your video. Thanks
What kind if frying pan is best for you? Cast iron? Ceramic? I often hear bad things about aluminium or non-stick in general.
Does it have to be only red palm oil? Or can it be organic in the white form?
Anybody can put “sustainable and eco friendly” on jars of palm oil. Don’t forget that this stuff comes from places in the world where deception, corruption and bribes are a way of life and they make huge profits.
is palm oil in a roasted corn snack bad? i would like to snack on some roasted corn sometime in the week but i really dont know if this is LDL raising. 60% of my diet is animal based (grass fed butter, grass fed steak, chicken, fatty salmon, tuna cans etc.) should i throw the roasted corn away? its from the brand ”Casamayor snacks”
Dr Berg can you please make video on sesame oil and rice bran oil? Indians /Asians use coconut and sesame oil in cooking, massage as well as for other purposes. They believe Sesame oil ( unrefined) is the best of all. I believe rice bran oil is used by japanese.?.correct me if am wrong. Thank you.
So is it still ok after heating Palm oil or does it become unstable? Or is it even better after being heated? Would love to know the answer to this. Thanks
Thank you for this video! I‘ve loves hearts of palm for many years but only just now found out exactly where they come from. I’m amazed that the process from seedling to jar is so complex. It just increased my gratitude to those who produce this delicacy.
I don’t know how people say palm oil is cheap I live in us and the same brand Dr Berg has it’s almost $15 in whole food I have one and not know how to use it
Double standard westerners, blaming us for clearing the forest just for palm plantation
But at the same time bought from us woods for your fancy furniture making..
Palm plantation can preserved new habitat for wildlife, unlike the conola/sunflower plantation
I refuse to buy anything with palm oil almost all processed foods have it it’s killing our planet bringing into extinction orangutans sloths and many other animals. Use coconut oil!!! Please boycott all products with palm oil to save the animals to save our planet.
In another video I have watched it was explained that refined palm oil contains glycerol fatty acid esters (genotoxin/carcinogen) specifically monoglycerides & diglycerides. This is usually found in most peanut butters. I’m assuming the unrefined versions are fine but I’m still going to stay away from it just to play it safe, coconut oil works well for me.
Most peanut butter has palm oil so is it ok to consume provided there’s no added sugar such as the Whole Earth brand?
I eat these things straight out of the can! Aw man, I crave them!
I’ve never heard of these before. Love water chestnuts, so I’ll have to try these.
love them. I’ve never tasted fresh hearts of palm.. have only found them in a jar or canned. They remind me a little bit of artichoke hearts.
Palm oil is in the PB I buy but I guess its not the same as what hes talking about here.
The skin and wrinkles around my eyes look better in 3 or 4 days after eating this.
Toko what?!!!lollol thanks Dr Berg can’t even pronounce that her he…❤️❤️❤️
Ever wondered how Africans (especially west) survive despite high poverty rate and lack of good health care? Our natural foods. These things that the western world are just discovering have be there along.
Thanks Dr Berg for helping me understand the added benefit of these oils.
Red palm oil is very difficult to find around here ( Western New York). I can only find it at one store (wegmans) and they don’t always have it.
Propoganda about palm oil exist long time ago to protect US vegetable oils. Palm oil has more nutrient and more stable with cooking heat.
Thanks for this interesting information…. but as a keto person doesn’t I have enough vitamin E?
Let’s not start with palm oil, it’s killing the forest, and everything in it. Please dont make this popular
I’ve never heard of this vegetable until I watched this segment, but the vegetable looks delicious.
Papm oil in Israel is only available at Passover, I’ve been buying it by the case and keeping it for the year for many years. Someone always tries to give me a health lesson when they see me checking out with three cases of palm oil. I’ve heard it all! I use avocado oil, palm oil and coconut oil mainly for everything I make.
I heard somewhere that is not good to mix oils and right now i’m taking coconut oil. It it safe to take palm oil together with coconut oil?
Would you recommend cooking with palm oil, using it as a salad dressing base, and/or putting palm oil in homemade personal care products like lotions?
OH I CRRRRAVE THESE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE JAR! SO YUMMMMY!!!!
have you ever eaten artichoke hearts? what do they taste like?
Don’t ever do a close up with you chewing like that again
I always feel bad for the people in these factories. Their jobs are so crap and that’s what they’ll probably do for the rest of their lives.
Why is it that science says that any kind of oil will ruin your blood vessels?
Palm Oil is evil it will end up destroying all natural habitats on the earth.
Sustaible enviroment oil is buying local product. Exp i’m from Malaysia, we planted coconut and palm tree, so buy palm oil lah. Oh ye, i rarely see coconut oil in supermarket. I usually use coconut milk in my food…
The actual reason why rainforests are cut down is because of people’s thirst for hardwoods from this region. If you are really interested in stopping the cutting of these forests, stop buying hardwood. After cutting the trees, what do one expect these people do? Replant hardwood will take hundred years to mature. Obviously they will plant a plant that provide them economically fast. The obvious plant is oil palms which can generate income after 2.5 years.
I am an environmentalist and have had spent 35 years on R&D to grow Oil Palms sustainability even on peat soil with high yields and without fertilisers ever touching the ground. Because nutrients are delivered directly where it is required, higher yields, increase of oil content of above 35% etc are possible, without the need of increasing acreage. Really no need for lobbyists to claim environmental catastrophes, destruction of rainforests, killings of endangered speciesespecially orangutans etc.
Palm oil is purest in my country. We don’t bleach it. The main ingredient in our recipes are the red pure just pressed from fruits, Palm oil.
Somebody please help. Theres this aldi brand peanut butter with the butterfly non gmo thing, but it has regular “palm oil.” listed. Is this unhealthy? I’m scared help
African Americans ancestors used red palm oil for centuries and looked strong and healthy.
Just had a can of them. They are quite nice, taste very much like bamboo shoots.
Just found out my dr bronners soap has palm oil in it. Do you think using it in my baths could cause inflammation?
Just saw this on a French Foreign Legion Documentary. They go out to the Jungle as part of their Basic Training for 72 hours with no food and minimal equipment. They ate hearts of palm to sustain themselves. This is something I would love to try and would most likely introduce it into my diet regularly as I am trying to get away from Meat.:)
RIP orangutans with palm oil plantations and clear felling rain forests.
Palm oil is excellent for the skin. Used it as an ointment when I had german measles. All spots went away in 3 weeks
Western and european hate palm oil because they not producing it, lol. They said palm oil cause deforestation, but the truth is Malaysia have more % per area of virgin forest compared to most of european or western countries.
One of the least understood and highly desired vegetables in the modern century.
I think we should have different oils in round-robin to get benefits of all oils. Only thing we should remember is how much oil we consume. Too much or too little is always bad for health.
they look like Thai food, and I wonder if those are good? never had them before.
