In a medium bowl, whisk mayo, Greek yogurt, Sriracha, and juice of ½ a lime. Add cabbage and toss well to coat in the dressing; set aside or place in the refrigerator. Wrap corn tortillas in aluminum foil and place in a warm oven (300F). Heat grill, skillet, or grill pan.
To make the slaw: In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, chipotle chiles, lime juice, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and garlic. Season to taste with salt and pepper (I like 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper). Stir in cabbage, cilantro.
Place 2 pieces of catfish in each tortilla. Top with cabbage mixture, radishes, avocado, cilantro, and chives. Serve with lime wedges and hot sauce.Grill your catfish for 6-8 minutes per side until your fish flakes easily using a fork. You can either place 1 fillet whole or break catfish fillet up into bite sized pieces and place into tortilla and top it with 1/2 – 3/4 cup of Slaw over it.
Now squeeze a bit of lime or lemon over top and serve. (Optional: garnish with cilantro). In a small bowl, mix salsa and mayonnaise; set aside. In a Dutch oven or deep skillet, heat oil over medium high heat until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). While the oil heats up, whisk beer, flour and salt in a medium bowl until smooth. Using a fork, coat fish pieces in batter.

COLEY FOLEY GOT: YOUR MESSAGE… HAHAHA! (YOU’LL GET FUCKIN THROWN IN THE SHOWER IF IT’S EVER LIKE THAT… HAHAHA!)
Tacos were delicious. Thank you so Much for sharing your recipe..Love it
A delicious and easy to make fish tacos recipe i have ever tried so far. I really like this amazing fish tacos recipe. Even i have a special fish tacos recipe. Check out the recipe here: https://www.foodybud.com/baja-fish-tacos-the-recipe-critic/
I would use Catfish it is easy to fry not Founders too easy to burn too fast.
Best recipe ever. I made them yesterday and everyone loved it. My favourite recipe of fish tacos
The best video very simple to the point of a great fish taco thanks so much for the video as well as recipe
Whoa. Great video. I’m hungry now. I love a good Canadian cheese on my tacos
Quick video. Like the format. Skip the garlic in the pico de Gallo.
bitchhhhhh this was so easy! im definitely making tomorrow night!
Are you out of your mind? Can’t believe someone would remove tomato seeds.
First of all pico the gallo is not salsa, and for sure it doesn’t go with garlic. Second who toll you to use pumpkin oil and kosher salt? jeez.
Raw GARLIC in Salsa….??? learning cooking….? hmmm…….
Love fish tacos but hate frying anything in my tiny apartment.
I just made this and it tasted incredible! I followed the recipe but I added more cumin and lime juice for the crema.
Red onions always work super well with all Mexican dishes and salsa! Too many use white onions or yellow onions and they’re too juicy and less sweet to the point that the dishes taste mainly of strong onions and all herbs and flavors are over powered. Then they end up over spicing the food to compensate and it confused the palate. The best Mexican dishes are those that balance out the spices and don’t use too many. Red onions help you balance that out without having to use high sugars to balance out the flavors. Red onions balance that out with the little bit of sweetness it add. Then no sugar needs to be added. Just a splash of apple cider vinegar and lime with garlic salt really creates a balanced flavor. For more of a chili taste you can add pinches of cummin to taste. It’s great for tacos. I’m so glad you use red onions. It shows you know how to balance that wonderful Mexican taste out. As for to coleslaw add a teaspoon or so of ranch flavor with some freshly homemade bacon bits and a nut like sunflowers with the normal citrus flavoring with slaw. Add a hint of horseradish it the slaw and no vinegar. All plants soak up vinegar way more than anything else. This is why plain white vinegar is a good way to kill weeds in your yard. It doesn’t pickle with cabbage like it dies on other things. It cancels out other flavors. So use your citrus dressing with a table spoon of ranch dressing. Then all more crunch with a meaty flavor with finely chopped almond or with sunflowers. I also all fresh finely diced make and that helps a lot. Broccoli in a slaw is good, but raw finely chopped kale really balances out the tardiness of the slaw and makes it more manageable for those that don’t like slaw normally. I have a lot of ppl over that don’t like slaw, but with that bit of ranch dressing in it they love it and eat it up.
Just made this using chicken. It was okay. I guess I need to add more salt or something It needed more flavor.. I learned why not to add oil to my pan for the tortilla…smh
Yea I can tell he’s never had a drink in his life. Extremely dull talk show
https://youtu.be/XMYH-ikZF9g y’all should watch this just saying
Well that’s awkward. It’s not “my-my” it’s “maw-hee, maw-hee” lol
So eatfish that born to Die? How kind just what I would expect for you Hollywood freaks
I’ve worked as a chef for a few years and can agree with so much of what this lady is preaching when it comes to the fish, however she needs to improve on her sauce, tortilla and guacamole game. Might just be the American style of cooking though.
This is a great recipe for the fish. I just made it for dinner but change the slaw
New Mexican here. My mom has literally never used ginger in her dishes.
“Oceans are for everyone”????? That is a bit rich coming from one of the world’s biggest polluters that withdrew from the Paris Accord on Climate change. The USA has lost all right to tell anyone what to do about the environment.
This is white people tacos.. Lmao.. F**+ the Ray dirty hands.
I don’t know about other Hispanic foods, but I don’t know any Mexicans that use ginger in Mexican food. I love ginger, though.
Im out of crema and sour cream. Is yougurt a decent substitute?
Ian, how neat it is to be cooking right beside my queen of cooking, to my opinion. She’s so bubbly and been one of my first watches on the food network channel. I’m jealous. It’s a dream of mine. I hope I get this one day. Rachel you always bring the love of cooking out of me. Your fish looks scrumptious!!!
People, please always grill your tortillas, especially flour ones. Some people just throw them in microwave for a few seconds, NO. Flour tortillas are never cooked all the way when packaged, that is why they stick together, they are still raw and doughy.
Ensenada, Baja home of the original fish tacos. Now there you also Find grilled fish tacos. Like this version. You can use a thousand islands dressing instead of cream/mayo sauce with either the fried or grilled fish tacos after cooking with cabbage, lime, pico de gallo, hot sauce on a warm corn tortilla. Best if you buy the uncooked tortillas when cooked they taste as homemade.
How would you make this if you are 13 (like me) and can’t use alcohol for the slaw
What a hippie…you know you’re in front of a perfect hippie when the “sustainable” comes out…tacos are Mexican right?..well…fish tacos most of the time in Mex are made with plain old tilapia…so why this woman chose an incredible expensive fish to make tacos with is beyond me….maybe because it’s sustainable
I thank you for sharing this video to YouTube, Ms. Ray. I am curious to try the Tequila Lime slaw in the future.
It looks so delicious, I’m making them tomorrow.. wonder what kind of tortillas are they?
I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to see if he said that was Tilapia lol I Googled fish tacos and he came up 1st
Cilantro tastes like soap to me also. Kisses me off because I feel like I’m missing out on it, but it tastes like soap.
May I substitute flat leaf parsley for the cilantro? I’m allergic
Tip if you wanna take this to the next level, fry your tortilla. Thank me later.
The soap taste is in their genes it won’t taste like cilantro like most people taste them.
Could I substitute the jalapeño for a bell peppper and leave out the radish and cabbage
Made them yesterday for this hot summer weather!!! The Crema !!! Super quick!!!
“Someone” in the house doesn’t like me to talk to other boys, but I’m being sneaky today, so shhhhhhhh!
Do you guys turn your head to eat a taco, turn the taco, or both?
John, fav Cole slaw dressing as a side for fried fish or oysters… 1 head of green cabbage to 1/2 head red cabbage (shredded); 1 bottle of Kraft Coleslaw Dressing, small can (or 1 cup) of pineapple chunks (or more to taste), 3/4 1 cup dark raisins, S & P to taste. Marinate in fridge a couple of hours. That’s it! Enjoy and you’re welcome! Huge fan here. Rick
I have tried this amazing fish tacos recipe. It is really amazing. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Also here i have a special fish tacos recipe. Check out the recipe here: https://www.foodybud.com/baja-fish-tacos-the-recipe-critic/
Es un consejo no calientes las tortillas directas en la lumbre de la estufa porque te asen daño cómprate un cómala mexicano
I wanna see this guy in a movie where he plays himself as a cook during the day, but at night hes a “for hire” assassin.
A recipe made & explained in a simple easy way. Not to mention that I DON’T have to “deep fry” the fish. It’s Monday 6/22/20 & I’ll be doin this here fish taco thing for my Sunday dinner! 6/28/20 (Lord willing) Thank U for sharing, peace & blessings to U & yours!
I followed your formula tonight…except with lingcod. My wife pulled the wrong fish out of the freezer, which is my fault because I didn’t label after catching and packaging.
It turned out fantastic! A great blend of flavors. I bailed on the single corn tortilla over flame, not because my fingers are heat sensitive, but because my first taco disintegrated before I could eat it. For me it worked better with two tortillas warmed in the microwave. A big shout-out to Westport Deep Sea Charters and the crew on “The Slammer” for making my first rockfish/lingcod fishing trip a huge success.
Cilantro tastes like mint or lemon sometimes to me not sure why its weird.
John, I’ve just discovered you and already am a huge fan. Great sense of humor, super natural in front of the camera, and, oh, did I mention seriously cute? Your hubby is a lucky guy.
Wow. That really looks delicious. Super crunchy and with the mild, yummy fish (We call Mahi “dolphin” in the south the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin is called a “porpoise”). Perfect looking and mouth watering!
This guy’s alright. Def gonna try this over the weekend with some fish I need to use up. Never technically had fish tacos though.
The only way to truly smell a tortilla is to slap yourself in the face with it…been there..done that
Fish Tacos Crunch…
Picture a hot summer day at the Hawaiian Islands Kona, or the Big Island of Honolulu, at the Huki Lau freshly Mahi-Mahi fish, beautiful limes, aromatic cilantro chopped up, spicy jalapeños, and the crunchiness of red cabbage, radish, scallion, and delicious avocados, tortillas, and home made cream, light, packed with flavors, simply the best Day of your life.. Aloha
They do look super good. But without the avocado I’m sad haha
This is actually really close to how we prepare fish tacos here in Baja California! nice and tasty. btw cant believe your husband doesnt like cilantro, its so delicious!
Sorry, can’t digest radishes. Everything else is the way to go.
Its time to ditch some friends! Lol
Thanks. I never knew radish can go with my soup. I will try that. Thanks. Your great.
Laughed my a_ off when that cilantro got tossed in at you! This looks amazing, John! I have to make this for dinner tonight! Hmmm…..!!!
Her pro slicer scares me (i cut my finger off on one) but thank you for the recipe!! ^^
0:55 HOGWASH! that’s not Mahi Mahi, you tilapia man!! PFF! haha
Camilla Alves no mayo Cole slaw is delish. Cannot wait to make these today
I agree with the someone else in your house about the cilantro yuck
Did anyone else got excited when he was using his hands to flip the tortillas?!
Hispanic signature there!! ☺️
Love it! Gotta make these fish tacos with or without avocados they look delicious! Keeper recipe! The colors look amazing in contrast to the tortilla. Thanks John.
Made this last night. That sauce I didn’t have much faith in but gave it a try anyways. Very very good. Thank you. Will make this again. I did however add some crunch with some shredded cabbage.
Thank you so much for your perfect recipe. My husband, who partly works in Los Angeles, asked me for fish tacos. I’ve tried to cook them here in Russia as you recommended and it works!
Everyone says that my mom’s coleslaw is the best they’ve ever had I have to agree. I’ll get her recipe and post it as soon as I see her.
alright. okay. this. is. actually. deliSSSSSHHHH! git damn!! So, I just have to change up a few things. I think I put quiet a bit of salt and I used sea salt. also, I changed up a bit the marinate sauce. I added some good ol old bay seasoning and some lemon pepper, but again I think I added too much salt or is it because I used sea salt? next time i’m just gonna leave lemon pepper out. anyways, it is DELISH!!! I could also change up the pico de gallo..find the right jalapeno and the right tomato.
sounds like you and “someone in the house” have nothing in common.
John those fish tacos look amazing, can’t wait to try these thanks so much for sharing
Made these tonight. They were easy and super delicious!! Thank you.
Hi John, you should trying making Baja CA style fish tacos; with pico de gallo serrano Chile instead! Yummy! Now I want try fish tacos with Cotija. Never had Cotija on my fish tacos!
I make my slaw with cider vinegar mayo sugar and a can of crushed pineapple with my shredded cabbage
You know, when picking out avocados. The older they look, the better.
Good for him from refraining eating the (alchy-slaw) but I have a bottle of Corralejo in front of me and will have 2 shots before making this masterpiece! ♂️
Just made this for Valentine’s Day Dinner. This guys knows what he’s talking about. The only difference was that I just mixed in the radishes with the mixture and added crumbled feta cheese on top of the tacos. Otherwise great recipe. Roasting the tacos on the open flame was a nice touch too. Turned out awesome.
Why bother to do cooking videos if you don’t know what you are doing? I was totally grossed out the moment you used the contaminated knife to cut your pepper. God knows what is growing on that wooden cutting board. No seasonings, cheap pan, washing your knife with a bare hand with no soap, not giving slaw anytime to marinate or break down total amateur. You wasted our time.
Really bad she doesn’t season the fish only throws a little salt on top of them when they are already frying. Ughhhhhh and the slaw is dry as hell YOU CANNOT COOK!!!!!!!!!
I love love love this recipe Sarah!
It’s easy healthy and great when you happen to be a diet and don’t want to
Fry food!!! Thx again for another wonderful recipe I do not feel guilty eating this. No ma’am
i cant handle spicy food, i like it but the next day is not pretty
Can you do a fried version of a fish taco? I see so many recipes using a battered fish.
Actually they are both very different in flavor, although they look the same. In Indian cooking, we often use coriander which I think has a stronger flavor than cilantro. But I love both herbs.
Funny how we use the term “cilantro” when doing a Latin American dish, but with any other dish it’s simply called “coriander”.
Mmmm! Looks awesome and so fresh! Super duper spice head here!
Can you make a recipe good for people with pre diabetes or diabetes? Thank you
This looks tasty.
BTW Sarah I just saw your “Bluth Bananas” video on the EDF blog and being an Arrested Development fan, Loved it! Also it being YouTube Comedy Week and all the Bluth Bananas vid would be great uploaded on here. 😉
Very spicy palate here! Esos tacos ameritan una buena salsa verde con aguacate! Greetings from México!:-D
even I like my dishes without the seeds of jalapenos, thank you so much Sarah for this delicious dish.
I have a spicy spicy palate! I eat ‘Mexican Diabolica Hellfire Sauce’ as a toast spread:P
I came here by mistake and can I say that I loooove him and the shady he throws
Delicious recipe. You can use all the seeds and scraps to make a vegetable broth for soup or making rice. I keep my scraps in a freezer bag and then when I get enough I make a big batch of vegetable broth.
Love your channel!! Can so relate to having “someone in the house” who doesn’t like things ahahah
Thank you. You’re absolutely wonderful.
I made this and it came out fantastic.
Thank you
Rossana, I watched you make Tilapia Fish Tacos, as I watched you, my mouth was watering. I make fish tacos with breaded fish sticks, just for something different. I also make Tilapia fish tacos, just use unbreaded, unbattered with spinach and Mexican cheese, topped with sour cream. I also make it with slaw, and leave out the spinach. I will try your recipe. I love your cooking style, you are a fantastic cook. ( I been watching your videos, as I am fairy new subscriber, and came across you YT channel, so happy I did) I love watching you cook, learning new things. God Bless
