Prewash and presoak the brown rice overnight before cooking with a pinch of salt ( not salting it ). Secondly, CHEW the grain really good before swallowing. It has a mild sweet taste to it. If you choose to eat it. Just sharing own experience . How to cook? Wash, soak it overnight with the required amount of water. Pinch of salt, cover and leave it overnight before cooking. 2). Quick boiling, then turn flame to low for 50 mins. Covered without opening (Keep pressure/heat in). Done, fluff it. Yum… Try it. Eat in very moderation if you choose.
Aren’t Asian populations generally thriving on rice? I’m not so sure about my new keto diet after seeing this, sounds somewhat fanatical…
So you’re going to tell all these bodybuilders that are 10x more healthier than you that the rice they are eating is not good because..keto? Okie doke doc
Rice bran has ‘phytic acid’. which is an antinutient. Body can not absorb calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, copper from rice bran and the meal that contents rice bran.
nice video. In my house we steam it and ferment it in plain white yogurt
I was really hoping he say eat Brown rice (at least) then…at the end, he said “avoid BOTH”!!!
Thank you for informative and helpful nutrition tips! Keep doing videos!!
ANYTHING NATURAL THAT IS NOT TAMPERED WITH MACHINE AN INVENTION WHICH MAN MADE, IS 100% HEALTHY AND NUTRITIOUS, ENOUGH WITH THIS PHYTIC ACID PROBLEMS, THERES NO SUCH EVIDENCE THAT PHYTIC ACID CAN CAUSE MINERAL DEFICENCIES, SHOW ME ONE? THERE IS NONE!!! EAT WHOLE GRAINS!!! WHITE RICE ROBS US OF THIAMINE AND CAUSES BERIBERI, A DISEASE THAT CAN CAUSE MUSCLE WEAKNESS AND FATIGUE, SKIP THE REFINED GRAINS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE IBD AND IBS ( GUT PROBLEMS) AND YOUR NOT EATING JUNK FOODS BECAUSE THE POISON JUNKFOOD IS ALSO FORTIFIED WITH THIAMINE. HEALTHY PEOPLE WHO DON’T EAT PROCESS FOOD, SKIP THE REFINED GRAINS TO KEEP YOUR ENERGY LEVELS HIGH!
So let me get this straight, we should not bother eating any type of rice as per the doctors given information above?
Yea?
There is something wrong here. Brown rice is good. “Avoid both”, are you kidding.
I am just coming here from a video that says “Eat brown rice and live 100 years”..
the chinese/asians have been eating rice for generation and they have no problem in what you preaching…and another thing I’ve noticed is that Asians lived longer thn any race in the world.
KETO is not eating rice is not having sweets at all is
Listen to me, if you’re desperately trying to find something that makes you lose weight or to see what to eat etc. Take a deep breath and just think about this. Why would you waste your god damn life stressing about food, FOOD IS GOOD! ENJOY IT, sometimes you eat too much, yes, totally fine and it’s okay. Next time you eat too much again, it’s still okay. If you want to make some changes with your eating habits.. Eat more healthy but don’t be so harsh on yourself. If you want to have chocolate and chips, eat it. You need to find your own personal balance with your life and how you, YOU can make it through and make better choices and it will not happen over night. I know this myself.
And when you finally find this place in your head where you can say,.. I feel like having sweets but i know I should eat something what is not unhealthy and then it doesn’t bother you anymore for not having sweets that much like it did in the beginning.
Just saying, you are going to be okay say No to stress
Could you please review “two types of rice popular in Japan — half-milled (Haigamai) rice or incompletely-milled (Kinmemai) rice.” Would this be a healthier choices?
To get rid of the arsenic in brown rice you need to soak or sprout it. He didn’t mention that.
Solution: eat white rice but with some fresh meat and healthy veggies. Boom.
Before 1985 we Indians used to eat brown rice, but now most of the Indians eating white rice, that’s the reason 80% populations of Indian nowadays having high blood sugar.
What about parboiled? It’s only 30gi, has less antinutrients but still has fiber, less arsenic too.
rice bran it has two types:
1. outer layer rice bran (rice bran for animal feed)
2. inner layer rice bran (rice bran from polishing, for human use)
but inner rice bran not yet commons use, cause difficult to storage.
Dr Berg: I was watching a video which says that consuming carbs such as white or brown rice with proteins and fibre at night before sleeping activates leptin which helps fat-burning
So if you avoid both, what can you eat? I will continue to eat a moderate amount of brown rice once a day.
Before 1985 we Indians used to eat brown rice, but now most of the Indians eating white rice, that’s the reason 80% populations of Indian nowadays having high blood sugar.
So how u reccomend for someone that wants to gain muscle and weight.. Person is 20 lbs underweight
Go with ORGANIC GMO FREE SPROUTED RICE instead! He did not even mention it!
Everyone I know is turning making cauliflower rice instead of regular rice if you ready for healthier foods but I’m Puerto Rican and we Love Our Spanish foods but I’m 65 and I had to let it go
Both white and brown rice is not good what should we eat instead
Eat everything in moderation, while eating sit comfortably, relax feel the food what you are eating, chew it properly. You will be healthy. Cheers
Dr berg, does organic brown rice pre soaked solve the arsenic problem. Ideally using on the days I’m training in the heart rate range, ie out of ketosis, thanks Alan

Plz make a video on how to slowly come out of keto diet into carb diet so that the lost weight doesn’t come back. Also please make a video on eating millets instead of white rice/ brown rice.
Dr Berg please do what you do. Thank you for your insight. Don’t pay attention to any of these idiots. What he’s giving us here is facts and information. Is up to each individual to decide what they want to do with it.
If both is not recomend what rice i can eat then? There is no pink rice yet
Hi dr berg, can you please talk about the reason why i have headache and weak in all my body between the time of 16 to 18 hour of fasting then i get the energy back after that time ( i have been doing OMAD and keto for more than one year. Thanks so much
I may start having some white rice pre and post workout and eat low carb the rest of the day. My job is physical and it is hard doing high rep squats on a low carb diet
God! Why the Hell can we eat that isn’t bad for us? I been eating a lot of brown rice over the years didn’t know about the arsenic ♂️
did dr berg take medical nutrition in school? what he’s saying contradicts the einstein of naturopaths dr wallach the nobel prize nominee curing people by the millions with mega doses of vitamins and minerals including arsenic
We should just all eat fresh air and live to 1000 years old…. i give up
U can get rid of arsenic just by cooking the rice…. we can find arsenic in seafood too..if we follow your advice we’ll end eating nothing but pills
Soak rice overnight and rinse it well. There’s so much new noise about rice over the Internet and most of it is over the top. Eat it in small quantities and don’t eat it everyday. That goes for most foods though. There are MANY healthy foods that contains toxics. No food is 100% good for you.
Am I nuts to expect nutrition experts to include a discussion of sprouted brown rice when discussing the pros and cons of rice consumption? To me, it’s like discussing the health consequences of consuming grain-fed beef, while ignoring the benefits of grass-fed beef consumption. I think I prefer no story at all to a misleading half story.
Thanks for this wonderful guidance.
Would you allow/recommend WHITE RICE to me IF?
1. My BMI is 18 and I am not trying to lose any weight
2. White rice does not contain arsenic
3. White rice does not contain phytates and I can consume IB6 supplement
4. If I take White rice with Nutritional yeast (for B vitamins)
Please guide me if white rice is OK to consume is specifically my case.
Thanks.
Asians eat rice for breakfast lunch and dinner and they’re all tiny. It is great for losing weight
Like all other grains, rice as it occurs naturally has a hard outer layer called bran. This layer is often removed during processing. Also as with other grains, removing the bran from rice removes much of the nutritive value as well.
funny, all top bodybuilders eat rice, mostly white….as do all strength champions. they say it is the key.
ALL RICE IS BROWN! the riceBRAN is the brown removed outer layer in the milling process until it gets white!
I guess rice from bad agriculture has arsenic. Veggies have pesticide, fish have heavy metals… So everything’s bad? What about arsenic-free (organic) rice?
This is funny because Dr. Sam Robbins says white rice is better than brown.. who to believe? Who cares, just eat and enjoy both. Life is too short to worry about such silly nonsense.
If white and brown rice has too much arensic in them and is poisonous why do asians live so long….lol
Can you do a video on food preservatives, or envirmontal allergies? How to cure them?
Excellent video.
Three products from the raw grain namely brown shell, brown rice, and white rice.
I need to know rice bran powder is brown shell powder or brown rice outer shell powder?
If you call outer hard shell is rice bran, then what is the name for the outer layer of brown rice?
Dr. Berg; What can you tell us about starch retrogression? Should this be a positive consideration when deciding to consume rice? Does it matter if you eat freshly cooked rice or rice at room temperature?
Most if not all my carbs come from Vegetables/Avocado/Almonds but a large portion of my food contain no carbs. However, I lose tremendous strength and muscle size when I cut out carbs completely. What I started implementing is low to zero carbs During the week and Sat or Sun Carb up to fill my muscles out.
This must be the lousiest video from Dr. BERG! Top few biggest population in the world eat rice as staple food, what does this tell you?
From this video, it is said that arsenic in rice can be detected by formation of white line on nail. Is it not due to zinc deficiency??
News flash people! EVERYBODY is not trying to LOSE weight! This is a common American misconception.
