I’m from Newfoundland and grew up on Jo Louis’. We simply called them Jo Looie’s….lol I now live in Winnipeg and I had never had Hawkins cheezies till I moved here. They are….okay. You guys need to do a Canadian vs. American foods episode. Poutine vs. Cheese fries. Caesar vs. Bloody Mary. Brownies vs. Nanaimo Bars. Just an idea??
Heinz Ketchup and Mustard are Gluten Free. Heinz white distilled vinegar is made from corn and also listed on their site as being Gluten Free… heinz.com/glutenfree/products.html
Love this episode “Health theory” and tom please please make an episode or an interview imapct theory with “ROBIN SHARMA”
I just froze 40 pounds of potatoes. some I sliced up and fried with seasonings on the griddle to 90% done roughly then stopped. VAC packed and frozen. for mashed potatoes I diced them and boiled them again till almost done. then cold water bath to stop the cooking process. pat dry vac bag and freeze. its not 100% the same when you thaw finish cooking and beat into mashed potatoes but its very hard to tell the difference unless your paying attention. basically you need a wee bit more butter and milk when you mash them.
i cant stand the guy on the far right, i just want to punch him.
Reeses sticks are my favorite reeses product and candy in general
i loved getting Hawkins cheezies at halloween bc they were a bit stankey in a good way….link is right
Gluten Free Condiments! I hope this video is helpful to you. If you know of any other gluten free condiments, please let me know and share it here. Thanks so much for watching!
The answer to your prize question is medium chain triglycerides. And I didn’t have to look it up. I’m pretty educated on my nutrition shit!
0:08 Freeze! BA DUM TSS! LOL! Also, I’m creeped out by Yogurt Boy just bc of the way he looks.
Guys please, do never ever do a video and eat at the same time, you have no idea how bad it sound on the mic, it is extremely irritating that’s why never ever you see ppl drink or eat on TV
I’m from the town where the company makes Jos Louis. And THEY ALSO MAKE THAT HOSTESS CAKE. That first taste is Canadian vs Canadian haha.
Never heard someone freezing Ketchup or Mayo. So what are you smoking lol
Oh my! I’ve had Know Better foods and they are amazing!!! I’ve also played around with Ketoloved it and haven’t gone backyet. Anywayhow funnyhere I am watching IT and eating KBF and you two are connected!
If you are what you eat, and you’re also what you food ate (beef, milk, etc), then would the same be true for breast milk that we feed our babies? In general, if we eat something and then feel worse after having eaten it, then we typically avoid that food, right? However, if we have been raised on such food since before we can remember when we are infants, then we never have a chance to make that distinction. Would it then be possible that babies cry a lot because of a response to their destructive diets? Does it even make sense from an evolutionary standpoint for them to cry so much when seemingly nothing is wrong? If the mother is consuming a lectin heavy diet, would that not then be transferred over to the baby just as consuming milk from non-grass fed cows? Then as the baby grows older, it only ever knows how they feel on a lectin rich diet and that would be what they perceive as normal, right? Could this be why our diets have remained messed up for so long? Just curious.
I’ve seen everything but the ranch chips in every store in Canada.
We love spice but some ingredients aren’t legal here like they are in USA. Apparently that was the case with the spicy cheetos but idk lol
Well for me I’ve seen the proof of what this diet does. I wish people would learn and understand what the fuck they r doing. Look ok now just to kill ur sell early!haha
Tom I like your mindset stuff, but you seem to have no fucken clue about diet and health. This show is garbage and is only going to slow you down. What a joke.
Anyone that’s ever had a thought of freezing any of these foods should not be allowed near the kitchen
I’ve never had the urge to freeze any of these items, I guess I’m in the clear lol
I live in Canada and I got one of those huge Reese cup but it was marketed as a hockey puck
Why create food? To eat more processed foods is not the solution Tom. Fruits and vegetables are the perfect food for our bodies and are natural, live food. Eating corpses and highly processed food just brings death in more than one way, to our bodies, to the animals, to the planet…
I love your program, but talking about ketogenic diet is a very sensitive issue, it’s not the way to go. The fact that the diet has to closely monitored by professionals tells you it is dangerous. Please do more research and come back with another show on the benefits of going vegan
Dude where’s the old Dutch chips at or miss vickies?? Lays is my least favorite brand of chips
Never had a problem freezing cheese…at least the shredded kind
Potatoes don’t freeze well? I thought McDonald’s fries are frozen before cooked.
First of al the disrespect on the cheezies is too much, those are the best thing to exist
How do you all take your blood readings without going to the Dr? Are there devices you can buy to test your ketone levels at home?
A person can also lose weight slamming in fruit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for diving into the important issues and sharing solutions! Much appreciation to you both.
Listen-> i’ve learned sooo much from this
i’ve been trying to get into a ketogenic diet and started doing so without knowing what it is… i got the keto flu and freaked out (again i didn’t know what that all was)
but now i’m soooo much more knowledgable and ready to take it on fully!
LIFE CHANGER!
Good talk. It would be nice to hear more about physical and mental health. There’s just so much misinformation out there. Especially when the American Heart Association just came out saying coconut oil is bad for you. There is also people like me that struggle with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), panic attacks, hypochondria, and occasional episodes of depression that would like to hear from someone that truly understands the science and psychology of the conditions and what people can do to get out of it that doesn’t involve medications for life. Granted, I know A LOT about it now and know what I should be doing, but there’s a lot of lost people out there that just depend on their meds and sit curled up at home freaking out over sensations in their body or symptoms from something, and they’re not living life. They’re trapped in a totally different kind of matrix.
This is wealth of info. Thank you Tom. I first heard of the Ketogenic Diet from Tim Ferris and covered this in detail from his book the Four Hour Body. Thank you for cluing me in on the Ketogenic Bible. Found it on Amazon https://goo.gl/UgmGKT and getting it today.
I’ve put milk in the freezer before and as long as you let it thaw completely it tastes the same afterwards. Although I would only recommend freezing whole milk because it has a higher fat content so it does better.
MCT=Medium chain triglycerides. Been experimenting with keto now for over a year and a half. Much of it has been very eye opening.
hi, it’s been invented here in Québec, I had it since my childhood and even at school when it was someone’s birthday the teacher used to put a small candle on it and everyone was singing happy birtday. I’m a French Canadian and to help you pronounce it the correct way, you should say like: ”djow louis”… djow like in ”G.I. Joe” 😉
Can we get rhet and link in power ranger costumes? Like for no reason
I’ve seen the Ketchup Lays all the time here in America they are good
Please more of the Health Theory shows, there is so many in trenched views, its beautiful to find these new ideas that will become common practise in the future. It was Especially useful to get the myth busting section.
Ive always froze my milk and like frozen yogurt. Growing up with 4 other siblings my mom always had to buy a lot of milk and freeze whatever jug we didn’t use. All you have to do is shake the milk up once its fully thawed and boom. Good milk lol. It’s just as good. Especially in these times who really going to the grocery store once a week.. just buy the that extra jug of milk and freeze it. Save yourself an extra trip to the store lol
Okay you had me until the milk part. I breastfeed and it’s recommended to freeze plus I freeze my 2% milk all the time and it tastes just as good as normal!
When Lilly said she’d never seen Cheezies I was honestly offended for a second
not true at all literally everything on here should be in fridge
Why would you compare flaming hot Cheetos to not spicy cheezies
Turned off after 2 minutes. Don’t waste your time watching this
I’ve been putting ketchup on my chips since I was little, especially salt and vinegar!!!
With air fryers know you can heat left overs like fried chicken and pizza and they taste better than in the oven.
I called them Joe Louis (looey) all my life, and I’m not stopping now. I didn’t even realize it was Jos until now, at 35 years old.
I freeze coffee. Got some in the freezer right now. I think it keeps it’s flavor longer stored in the freezer. To each their own.
The Canadian lady disrespected Hawkins and should go find a well
I want to add that the sugar should be 1/4 to 2/3 cup depending on how you like your ketchup. I usually use the 2/3 cup but do it to your liking.:)
New title suggestion: Know nothing about food? Watch this!
I literally have frozen milk in my freezer right now this is nonsense
Yai, happy to see lili Singh on my favorite the show good mythical more
@ glamhaze Intitutionalized misinformation is circulating about distilled vinegar. The Gluten Intolerance Group certifies products as gluten free if they have less than 10 ppm gluten in them. Distilled vinegar has less than 10 ppm gluten in it. Unfortunately, the people most sensitive to gluten have strong reactions to gluten, even below the 10 ppm level. All you need to do is look at the comments on the web to see that distilled vinegar is not safe for a significant number of celiacs.
we have the ketchup chips in mexico but instead of calling them ketchup chips they’re just tomato flavored
Love where you’re going with the Health Theory content. More please!! Love all things Keto. And noted. HIV = not a good idea for a food product name. Brilliant. Please put together a comedy reel. (You’re freaking hilarious.) Thank you for the inspiration and amazing work you create each day.
Yup, tomatoes from can, really? I was hoping for made from scratch and not make it up!
Canada has always had Butterfingers and Cheetohs, right next to Hawkins Cheezies. Maybe I frequent the store too much, and Lily not enough? How do you not literally see all these American items? Lol
Okay first let me start by saying LOVE YOU!!! If you lived by me I would totally hangout with you!! Just subbed <3 Keep in touch
I’m curious if anyone has used these effects intentionally to make something new?
I love the show, and since I learned abiut the ketogenic diet I’ve been trying to do it and even though I’m not sure if I’m on “ketosis”, feels great and losing weight (fat). I have a question though if you could answer or maybe talk about it, it is good or healthy mixing ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting? Thanks in advance! Great show again.
I feel like Hawkins Cheezies are bigger in the praries. I have been living in Montreal for 7 years now and have not really been able to find them:(
Chester Cheetos paws were the only cheesie that could beat Hawkins…
Medium chain triglycerides… I knew that without research because I recently learned about the bullet proof diet.
McDonalds puts drugs into their good to make it,ore addiction
okay but HERRS makes a ketchup chip that is in AMERICA and it is 100xs better than Lays. Just saying
forget Toronto… Montreal is better by far. Better food, more cultured, better night life. Better all around.
Lays ketchup chips are the best chip ever. They were in the states for one summer and they took them away.
I totally agree about the Reeses! I don’t like the ones with the pieces in them! I don’t want it to be crunchy, I want it to have more peanut butter because that’s what’s great about a Reese’s! I like the bigger ones like the eggs and pumpkins though because they have more peanut butter and maybe it’s just me but as much as I love chocolate and peanut butter together I like peanut butter more then chocolate in general. Or at least it makes it better imo. It’s a texture thing too.
Mayonnaise, ketchup, cheese, cream cheese and ricotta due to being dairy, milk, coffee, fried food, eggs can be frozen but has to be cracked and separated from yolk and whites, soup, gelatin, potatoes, cornstarch… that’s most of the list
Old Dutch Crunchies are a closer match to the hard Cheetos, but nacho flavoured.
Hawkins Cheezies are so gross! And please tour Canada (including Vancouver) next time you guys di a Mythical tour or something!
I’m from Canada and I’m two and a half hours away from Toronto and I can get the Hawkins cheezies at any store
I don’t think that that is true about the flamin’ Cheetos….. I can go to a convenience store anytime and pick up a bag of those in Canada
Looks great!! Is the raw sugar in America GMO? because I know here in Australia our raw sugar is. I would probably use rapadura sugar in mine or even coconut sugar.
I’m just going to say we: hawkins cheesies are gross. They were the candy you tried to trade away at halloween
Hawkins cheesies are the best! We always brought them to our friends south of the border when we visited
When I was a little boy and we got milk delivered in the winter it would freeze and push the little foil cap off the bottle and we still drank it.
I check a lot of diet handbooks. This one from Woo&Pep is the best.
I know Jos Louis is pronounced from my part of Canada as “geaux-Lou-ee”
I freeze milk all the time and it tastes Jo different to me.
Great video. I sadly admit i’ve store coffee in the freezer before, thinking it might help preserve it. I did notice it not tasting good. Glad to see it wasn’t such a good idea.
stick to content, and stop trying to b funny with your extra clips.
Wow. Any fact checking at all? Egg shells ARE porous and bacteria CAN get in.
If they can freeze embryos in a freezer for 20ish years and still be viable I think the food will be just fine.
you know there are harmful chemicals in the liner of the can that leach into the tomato paste.
I suppose like most people I do like my mother used to do, and she never froze any of this stuff so I don’t either except for milk. I do freeze milk.
Mayo
Ketchup
Cheese
Milk, yogurt,cream cheese
Coffee beans
Fried Food
Eggs
Soups
Gelatin
Potatoes
Anything Cornstarch
Defrosted meat
I call no on the soup. I’ve been freezing it and chili for work for 32 years. Homemade though.
I freeze milk and cheese and it’s just fine as well as cream cheese however I tried freezing some heavy cream during this quarantine and it was an epic fail
@Jon Downes The issue is that Heinz considers 10 ppm or less of gluten to be gluten-free. That is a low enough amount where most people with a gluten intolerance are okay consuming their product, but not everyone. I wish Heize would be more honest and say their product contained less than or equal to 10 ppm gluten, which is enough to still trigger problems in the most gluten sensitive within the population.
Not knowing what Hawkins are absolutely shocked me… you’re Canadian? Just so you know we have maple syrup and poutine here as well. Just don’t want you to be surprised when you learn about it
Seems to be maybe a generalising sweep of information here. This is what I’ve experienced from freezing certain foods first hand…
*Im not sure about full fat, but semi skimmed milk is fine to use after freezing. My mom did it all through my childhood. Maybe it’s a little more watery, but it’s not so bad that freezing shouldn’t be an option.
*Mashed potato can be frozen. I wasn’t so sure, but tried freezing left overs after reading that it could be done. I used the frozen mash for a shepherds pie and the mash tasted great. There was no stale flavour that mash left in the fridge gets, the texture was ultra smooth.
*I’ve not frozen chicken eggs, but have been doing a lot of research….because of the global situation and trying to minimise shopping trips…..apparently eggs frozen (without their shells because of expansion) are fine.
Keep these coming…love the health show!!! Would love to hear a conversation between you and the guys on Mind Pump YouTube channel debunking health myths.
When I accidentally froze yogurt, it was as wet as hell and runny, and straight disgusting
I put my coffee in the refrigerator and to me it keeps it fresh. I’ve had no problems.
Im so happy I saw clips from “can’t do that on television” show in this
Don’t freeze cauliflower. I tried this once. After defrosting, the cauliflower tasted nasty.
Nicely done, and very simple. Can any ketchup users confirm how this compares with the vinegar-type? I’d be interested in a taste comparison.
I’ve been vegan for 3 years now (vegetarian on/off for years prior) and have been researching keto veganism… I am also looking at intermittent fasting. I don’t eat fruitalthough I have a weak moment here and there with a little fruit or straight up sugar, lol. I’ve always been prone to flora imbalance. Would love to see someone address keto veganism and intermittent fasting for vegans! And I would LOVE to see a functional doctor on with you Tom!! BTW, my daughter is a junior in HS, very interested in medical field and, believe it or not, her anatomy teacher is talking about so much in this segment, that her eyes kept going WIDE. Again I find myself sharing your show with my kids… Thanks so much!
Some cheese needs to be frozen so that fungi does not grow on it. One thing in mind is a Parmesan cheese block (not powdered parmesan)
I don’t like jos Louis it tastes like pure sugar
I can’t even taste the chocolate
Hi Kelleigh,
I’ve attached a link to a site I find very helpful. Thought I’d pass it on to you and your subbies. You might find it helpful in tracking down products whether you are trying to eliminate gluten or other allergens in your diet.
Isn’t is amazing how those with Celiacs and those with gluten intolerances have different sensitivities to gluten?
Personally, I have an extremely low tolerance to gluten in any form. Topical as well as consumableI know you’ve mentioned that too. So happy to find someone else like me. Is that a good thing? I think it is…knowing I’m not alone.
But, while I know some may be able to enjoy a few of your items listed I want to put out there to not alarmed if some of these products may not agree with you. I couldn’t use the worcestershire sauce you used as it contains caramel coloring and any thing that list “spices” or natural flavoring is not my friend as well. Some companies still use “gluten” ingredients as long as it falls under the 20 ppm limit…I am NOT one of these people {insert sad face} These ingredients are among the sneaky few that they can get a ways with.
It’s great if you can use these products (I say hallelujah, if you can), but just a heads up to others and you.
I know I made my self crazy in the beginning wondering why I felt ill when products I used stated they were gluten free but I was still ill. Just sayin’..heads up….companies aren’t always, even when you call/email/etc to inquire about ingredients, are up front about their products.
I didn’t have a reaction with these things right away but my body became so sensitive these did eventually catch up to me.
I’ve learned to ask in many different ways with different customer service persons, and do my best to buy certified gluten free products. Since I’ve been doing so I have had less accidental gluten experiences.
Here’s the link I find very helpful with ( gluten my priority) but also other allergens too.
http://foodfacts.com/ci/nutritionfacts/Worcestershire-Sauce/Frenchs-Worcestershire-Sauce-10-fl-oz/25695
And as far as other condiments to use…I see to use all different ones so if you, are anyone is interested, you could check out my vitacost haul videos. There are so many good ones, Annie’s is a favorite as well as Just Mayo, I find this at my local Target.
PsHave you noticed that Wishbone has changed their packaging/product? They have in my local stores and the back of the bottle no longer states GLUTEN FREE.. {wahhhh!!} The Just Mayo I mentioned above also has dressings, and I’ve been picking those up…they are really great as well. Might want to try those if you can’t find the original Wishbone dressing anymore.:)
Wishing you a great day!
Melissa in MN
frozen potatoes are nightmares. Especially the ones in stews
Ketchup doesnt freeze because it’s a non-Newtonic fluid. Read a science book about these substances. They’re pretty wild
Ketchup chips are my absolute favourite chip, next to munchies
Am I the only one who thought the thumbnail looked like broken AirPods
Lilly wy are you funny now but wen you try to be funny your not
This is just common sense. O wait I forgot how many people dont have that.
You should see what happens when u store cans of sprite in the freezer over night
I clicked on the video saw Lilly wrote this comment than clicked away
Here’s one about re-freezing meat. Suppose i portion out too many hamburger patties, can I cook them off, then toss them in the freezer
Add most cheap supermarket breads! The moister and whiter it is, the worst the bread will freeze and come out tasting off with a weird texture. Quality whole grain bread seems to do okay, but stuff like Wonderbread should be right out.
Not widely available*.
You can get most of these things either side of the border if you know where to look.
My local discount grocery store stocks the wavy ranch. Its right next to the imported pickled herring and the french cherry cola… it’s a weird store.
Im totally new to this Keto world, how is this diet different from the first 2 weeks of Atkins?
Have you ever tried storing any of these foods in the freezer?
One of these days do a debate between Paleo experts……vs……plant based diet experts. It would get a ton of views. I personally lean towards a high plant based diet for all primates, however, an informative debate would be interesting.
I do flooring and I’ve been in a million houses and not once have I ever seen anyone freezing any of these.
National Coffee ASsociation says it’s OK to freeze coffee beans if the container is really airtight.
http://www.ncausa.org/about-coffee/how-to-store-coffee
If your family or yourself don’t have alot of money. So be it.
My family when i was growing up
We have meat & cheese & milk & coffee in the freezer.
It wont kill u
Who would freeze any of these things. Thought it was common sense. Stupid video
I freeze milk all the time. Taste the same. Been doin it for years
I’ve seen ketchup chips in my home of America but I’ve never seen wavy ranch chips before in my life
She said emulsify correctly but some how managed to mispronounce emulsion.
I’ve grown up all dressed chips! I live in Maine so it’s pretty close to Canada but I’ve always had them for years and years!
Thanks for this video… Finding halal vinegar was too tough for me and it is good that I can now use lemon juice as a substitute
That is a long list, the things you can freeze probably would have been easier to list.
Only at room temperature… Why do we store it in the refrigerator?
Most of this stuff stays good in the fridge for like 3 years… this is such a pointless video.
If you want to freeze eggs just beat all the eggs together then use a ice cube to freeze the beat eggs. Then store in w freezer bag till you need them.
So, by Mashed logic, Frozen Pizza shouldn’t exist! (More for me, I guess.)
I never freeze any of these except one — I freeze hard cheeses, the ones I use for pasta. It’s also easier to grate when frozen!
I put cheese in the freezer all the time. And it turns out perfectly fine.
I was surprised about soy sauce. I never thought about that having gluten.
@jfreidog If you listen carefully, I say that wine is safe for people with a gluten sensitivity. Gelatin does not have gluten in it. Gelatin is used to clarify wine and because gelatin is commercially made from either beef or pork, people with a beef or a pork sensitivity can have inflammation triggered by drinking wine. I held up the wine bottle to help make the point that sometimes people have muttiple food sensitivities, and some like beef and pork can tricky.
Who’s really out here freezing mayonnaise? or any of these items honestly.
MCT = medium chain triglyceride (Google not necessary) 😉 MJ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIv54jyoMpQ “We are not carnivorous apes… Ketosis is like driving your car and the red light is flashing on the dashboard…Not even mountain lions eat flesh 3x a day… to run on animal flesh= dirty fuel and acidic. Depletes calcium out of bones, it is a stress state on the body.”
Wish they did the crunchie bar instead of the reese crunchie bar
Anybody think that living in the great Frozen North, might be a good idea to have great candy.
Tom, you are changing my life! From, business, relationships, health and my overall well being! Thank you to you and your wife for helping me to expand my mind, learn, grow and strive to be better in all areas of my life!
Wheres the Old Dutch chips? Lays are nothing in comparison to those.
I loved the You Can’t do that on Television clips One of my favorite as a child of the 80s
All these stolen video bits you add for footage are distracting and have nothing to do with what you are saying if were being honest. Now where is that unsubscribe button?
Never thought Inflammation could cause Anxiety or minor digestive issues. Thanks for the wisdom, I appreciate the podcast!
