I have been dealing with this source for 3 years and never had any problems with my package. This is how I manage to deal with my pains because I have a steady supplier for my pain medication
For those whose wondering, painkillers work by killing the pain. Rip pain
At 3:00.. permanently? Doesn’t that mean you would only have to take it once if it stays there? This confused me.. but english isn’t my native language so that might be the reason i don’t understand that
I have extreme pain from my oral surgery and it hurts so bad
What a bunch of clickbait. 3:40 the celiac foundation website states that those with gluten intolerance (non-celiac) are diagnosed based on rechallenge/dechallenge from eating gluten. A health care professional isn’t going to provide any test to confirm this. Sensitivity has also been estimated with prevalence of 1%.

Great post Aaron is a Democrat but he is quite rational when he discusses issues where he is an expert. I am only half kidding here.
If I may ask, do you use opioid pain medications for your IBS pain? If not, what do you use for the pain?
When I have bad menstrual cramps I want to take a whole bottle of ibuprofen because nothing works
I hate Health Education, but I like Physical Education. Why does health and physical education mixed together?! Who agree…
Can I use it for like. I’m not physically hurt. Like mentally? I jsut feel idk.
When it comes to brain surgery, there’s nociceptors in the brain. This means the explanation for the fact that there is no pain in brain surgery.
Lovely Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried Lammywalness Wise Solving Guide (do a search on google)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for learning how to find natural painkillers and make survival food without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cooworker finally got amazing success with it.
I’m a grown man but when I stub my toe on a wall corner I curl up in the fetal position for 5 mins due to the pain.

Im taking painkillers because my girl broke my heart and its painful

A grandma once told me that wisdom tooth pain is much worse than giving birth.
that brain driving the car is one of the best things ive seen all day
from what i only saw in the thumbnail
i could tell you its almost wrong!
because since the body knows whats the pain already it doesnt need to pass to the brain! so it only registers in the spinal cord!
I disliked video just because he said how pain killers works?
What about opioids?
I had some pain in my upper back for no reason so I took two capsules of Ketoprofen I found in my box of chemist drugs
I have this intense muscle soreness. Took ibuprofen liquid gels and it’s been relieved dramatically. I could barely walk. Don’t wanna be on ibuprofen for months on end, though.

Everything is all fun and games until you step on legos. That’s the real pain.
Okay, now tell me why I felt pain when I watched the animation push their finger into the needle.
News:
We all will die amand the guy that made the video too
I just had all four of my wisdom teeth ripped from my skull yesterday at the dentist ;-; the oral surgeon prescribed codeine but since I’m young I can’t take it so the pharmacist just gave me penicillin and ibuprofen:(
Edit: I’m 14
Well they numbed my tooth at the dentist and it still killed so FAKE
When he started pushing his finger to the needle i screamed so loud…
It is important to say the world number one specialist on gluten Alessio Fasano says gluten is a protein that cant be digested completely by human, cause gut leakiness in every body and is toxic for everybody long term, funny how gluten is the latin word for glue, enjoy eating glue.

Well, some of us do need to be wheat-free…whether you all think this is a made up problem or not. If I eat anything with wheat, once, I will have 24 hours of discomfort and pain. If I continue for more than one day I begin to bleed rectally when I evacuate my bowels. If I continue beyond that, I will develop pain and sores from mouth to anus. Now that I am wheat-free I no longer wake up to ice-pick stabbing pains in my bowel every morning. I no longer go through periods of painful bloat. My explosive IBS is gone. I feel a hell of a lot better. So, you see, even though we may not test positive for celiac, some of us still suffer greatly. I did so for most of my 63 years. You doctors used to think fibromyalgia was psychosomatic bunk, too, but I see you’ve managed to develop a drug to treat it. It would be nice if you would listen to your patients rather than dismiss them.
What if you feel like you’re dying when you eat wheat stuff. Like idk if I have celiac disease or wheat allergy. My blood pressure goes crazy and I get shaky and super thirsty. Went to the er 4 times and they said I was fine. So I just stay away from gluten until I get insured again and can be diagnosed
It’s weird how I can agree with everything this man says and still find his tone of voice unbelievably pateonizing. I dont WANT to agree with him, but I do because I have a pretty okay understanding of biology and the stats used in these studies. But if I came in here disagreeing with him? He would never convince me in a million years.
There has got to be a way of explaining these concepts without sounding like you think everyone is an idiot except for you…
Stop the carbs and sugar. One dood cured his ALS by cutting out all carbs.
DOGS SHOULD NOT HE EATING GLUTEN, why is that a thing to be like, “Wow, people are so dumb! They even pay to feed their animals biologically appropriate food!” There are SO many proteins, they’re not all the same or equal. They have very specific shapes and functions, that’s why people (and animals) respond differently to gluten than meat. What the hell.
Went gluten free almost 10 years ago. Reversed autoimmune issues that were bad enough I was starting the process of applying for disability. No one ever “diagnosed” me so I’m not a part of any data set. Unfortunately sometimes we don’t have data, we have anecdotes but it doesn’t make reality any different.
When I went to the GP with coeliac they immediately tried to push anti depresents on me instead of a blood test
Amen! It’s wonderful to see someone providing a voice of reason these days.
My parent is on bulletproof etc and only buys gluten free stuff and so she also forces me to eat this way. Which means I can’t have sugar or bread. I can’t wait untill I’m an adult…
(Yes I talked about it with my parent but I still have to eat this way). My life sucks
Unnecessary, sure. But hell, if it doesn’t hurt people, and it makes them feel better, I got no problem with it. Like acupuncture. Doesn’t hurt people, makes people feel better, go for it.
Unless of course you use either in replace of actual treatment. In which case, I’ma smack you, fool.
I have a wheat allergy, as well as whey & casein protein (milk). That stuff is in everything and the stuff that doesn’t have either is so expensive
Yes the instant pain! I had this at work! And people just don’t understand like you were fine 20 mins ago LIKE YES SUSAN BUT NOW IM NOT DONT TEST ME
My friend had gluten sensitivity. He was working with his doctor to escape his gluten-free diet for a normal diet and to tolerate gluten.
I work at an Italian restaurant and I can not tell you the amount of times I have people come in and order something and ask it to be made with gluten free sauce and pasta. Well, being an Italian restaurant it is no surprise that we do not have a ton of gluten free options so when I tell them that what they are ordering has gluten in it and that we do not offer it as a gluten free option, many of them say “that’s okay, I just can’t have a ton of gluten”. Now, I don’t know these people personally so I don’t know their reasoning for asking for gluten free options when they aren’t totally gluten free but it kind of confuses me because I know it is not cheaper so what is it? This video provided a couple of reasons that might explain why I get tables with people like this but since I do not know these people I will never fully understand their reasoning. I have asked my coworkers about people like this and they say that some people “think” that gluten free products are healthier which is why some might order our gluten free food, however, this video suggests otherwise. “..gluten free products sometimes are higher in carbs and sodium, and lower in fiber and protein than some gluten-containing products”. Again, I do not know their reasons for wanting our gluten free options if they aren’t completely gluten free, but I don’t think our Italian food is very healthy either way.
Sorry but I do not agree. Gluten free has helped people with gut issues like candida and leaky gut and H phylori. It also helps with autoimmune disease symptoms. Celiac disease is an old disease. One of many associated with gluten. Gluten sensitivity is an issue just as much if not more than celiac

I feel like I have a lot of minor allergies but I don’t have a way of figuring out which.
Your production team has done sometthng different, every time you move back from a straight upright or forward leaning position you go out of focus. Please fix this, it makes you very hard to watch.
You are so right! I was diagnosed about 5 years ago. I did have the colonoscopy, endoscopy, Damn brutal!!! Get knocked out before the endoscopy!!! I have hypothyroid, chronic back pain, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis,IBS, copd, migraine headaches, You name it, I seem to have been diagnosed with it.
Have been on gluten free diet for about 5 years. Think I am dying from malnutrition.
Assholes that think gluten free products are good for them need to have their heads read!!
Everything you’ve said is so relatable to me. Especially the being excited about things it’s hard for people to understand that me being excited about something can give me IBS cramps but you said it perfectly.
I spent the day gathering up all the gluten so it can never not harm anyone ever again.
😀
Deadpool 4 life
The fad has helped me get my life back. Liver is doing good now and I’m growing some hair I lost back. I can still eat certain fast foods as long as I’m careful. I’m just waiting to see if the nerve damage will heal or not. Was diagnosed with suspected gluten sensitivity from my GI specialist. I’m not sure if I am celiac and the blood test was just not accurate (I heard it’s not). I haven’t gotten an endoscopy yet, but he strongly suspects gluten sensitivity.
Healthcare Triage, please look up the hormone zonulin and its relationship to celiac disease (CD) and non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS).
Look up the drug larazotide acetate. It’s expected to go into clinical trial level 3 in the year 2018, expected to complete level 3 in 3 years, and expected to go into level 4 after that. Level 4 is when pharmaceutical companies will turn the drug over to doctors to be able to prescribe to all patients with CD and NCGS, and drug companies will be able to start making money by selling the drug. When that happens, expect pharmaceutical companies to bombard us with ads to get checked for CD and NCGS and to have a test for NCGS. The NCGS test will probably be one that measures the zonulin level in our blood.
People who eat gluten-free include people:
(1) with CD
(2) with NCGS
(3) who can’t digest FODMAPs easily
(4) with wheat allergies.

Did anybody else hear “Rather than rest on his yannys though”???
I love how blunt you are. Subscribed!
Scientists should bend for no one.
What if your physician is your typical British GP that doen’t give a f$&K of you are telling him and send you away with paracetamol?
Right right right, but don’t downplay the craze! The market has been flooded with gluten free options as a result of these fad diets and now those who DO NEED dietary accommodations will find it easier than ever to buy grain products that don’t have gluten. The problems caused to consumers who choose to be gluten free despite that not being medically necessary are outweighed by the quality of life improvements to the afflicted minority (imo). Furthermore, if a gluten free diet just has placebo benefits, should we really discount that?
Yeah, if you and four friends go to a taphouse and order all your food “celiac/gluten allergy,” and the kitchen has to prepare your foor in an allergen-sterile environment, and you complain about how long it takes, don’t tip the waitress, AND THEN ORDER BEER…..You’re a fucking DICKHOLE.
Sorry but everything is data. If people are avoiding gluten-containing products and saying it makes them feel better, that’s data. I suspect it’s not so much the gluten but how wheat is grown and how flour is produced. The result barely resembles food. More study is required on this.
Today, I bought a bottle of water(I know tap water is fine, but the water from the tap at hand was cloudy, so I was a little uncertain) only to notice a gluten free label on it when I was outside the supermarket. Glutenfree bloody WATER!
Also, gluten free shampoos and stuff like that, is just ridiculous
I’m not going to give you my anecdotal evidence. I’m aware that most people probably don’t have gluten sensitivity, and if I’m ever not satisfied with the evidence that I’m in the margins of the rare exception, I’m sure there will be plenty more opportunities in my life to suddenly feel terrible, retroactively find out I accidentally ate gluten, and be reassured.
I’m also not going to give the speech about how this is a meaningless argument because of how it makes life easier for people with real celiacs. Helpful or not, if this is a scam, the people deserve to know, and I respect your attempt to shed light on it.
I AM however going to yell at you for citing the Peter Gibson study. Gibson can say that he wanted to do a “more rigorous” study all day long, but if you read the publication itself, not just the science news articles where Gibson promoted his findings, you’ll see that the methodology is no better than the first study. It uses under forty people as well, still some of the volunteers were randomly pulled based on self-identification (so gee, I wonder if, while studying an over-publicized, over-diagnosed condition, they accidentally brought in some hypochondriacs), and even more of the test subjects bailed halfway through because of symptoms (which were experienced in the constant group as well as the control, so it was attributed to a placebo effect). Also, did I mention that gluten-specific symptoms were experienced in EIGHT PERCENT OF PATIENTS?
Yeah, eight percent of less than 37 people; I wouldn’t recommend using that as proof that gluten sensitivity isn’t a thing. Is it smaller than what our culture treats it like? Sure, but to reference the study as if it found nothing is intellectually dishonest (and I’m more talking to the people with weird fixations on debunking GI, not Healthcare Triage). And I’m not saying that that means the first Gibson study was right. I’m in a situation where my anecdotal evidence suggests GI is real, and I can’t double-check that assumption because doing so on purpose would be an inequitable risk. But I agree that the “Proof of Gluten Intolerance” study is inadequate. It’s just that two stopped clocks don’t make a right.
For curiosity sake: You mention that diabetes can be linked to celiac disease, as well as folic and vit. D deficiency. What are your thoughts on the allegations that PCOS and insulin production therein could be affected by gluten? I was diagnosed with PCOS abt. a year ago, with insulin malfunctions and folic acid deficiencies (as well as a vit. D deficiency diagnosed several years prior) and a nurse at the time suggested I reduce or eliminate gluten from my diet to improve my insulin systems. I have never seen anything specifically saying that this /isn’t/ a thing, but also have yet to find a source that I really feel confident in that says it /is/ a thing.
Celiac disease is very real. And no one’s denying that, but it is pretty rare. Gluten is not going to hurt you if you don’t have celiac disease. If you haven’t realized it yet, gluten free products in the gluten free section of the grocery store is extremely overpriced. Companies are using this fad to get your money. It’s ridiculous how quickly health fads blow up. There is a healthy way to eat gluten free but most people don’t focus on fruits and vegetables, they just consume processed foods that don’t contain gluten. If you want to eat healthier, focus on good carbohydrates (don’t even get me started on no carb diet fads), lots of vegetables, and a good amount of fruits and proteins. Carbs are essential to your body in order to function and produce energy, and if you completely cut them out because you want to eat gluten free, you will come in contact with a host of other health issues. So in all seriousness, please just eat the gluten. You aren’t getting healthier by removing it from your diet.
I have colitis does this mean I have a higher chance of having celiac disease
First off I want to say I love this video! I was diagnosed with Celiac seven years ago. My father told me I could not have it because I was too fat (I wasn’t even fat, I was a normal 7th grader.) He said everyone with Celiac was super skinny from malnutrition so that couldn’t be me. He tried convincing me that I didn’t need to be on a gluten free diet (him and my step mom didn’t want to pay for the extra cost of gluten free foods.) However, every time I ate gluten I would get a rash on my legs and I would throw up. Needless to say I still stayed on the diet and only ate lettuce or eggs when I was at his house. When my stepmom made dinner she would sometimes put gluten in my food because she was too lazy to make me something else, but would tell me it was gluten free and I would still end up getting sick later that night. I ended up cooking a lot of the family meals to avoid this.
This gluten free fad is both a good thing and a bad thing. It is good because there are so many options of gluten free products now that people with Celiac can eat. It is bad because it is people don’t take the disease seriously. If I go out to eat restaurants will claim they have gluten free foods, but are actually contaminating them with foods with gluten. This is fine for someone who is doing the diet for the heck of it, but not for us with Celiac. There have also been many times where people have given me crap for being one of those “gluten free dieters.” Once I explain that I am in fact going to get sick if I eat gluten, they lighten up, but it is still really annoying to always have to explain myself to everyone. I agree that you should not be on a gluten free diet unless you need it because you are ruing it for the rest of us.
I used to think that the pain was just because I ate too much because it would knly happen after big meals once or twice a month. Now it hurts so much everyday. However it seems I only have to go to the bathroom once I get home after school which is okay.
Old video so I doubt this will get seen. People with increased gut permeability (which is often manifested as IBS, but can be manifested as other ailments (arthritis, anxiety)) MAY benefit from a gluten free diet.
Also, the way we diagnose celiac disease only tests for a full blown longstanding immune response resulting in an essentially atrophic small intestine. However, we are now finding that a person can be “pre-celiac” (symptoms vary from none to IBS to mental health) and can respond very well to a gluten free diet.
For the trendiness of a gluten free dietit’s not going to dramatically change the lives of the majority. Gluten is a small (large for some) part of a diet that can cause inflammation in the body. So if you’re replacing processed glutinous crappy bread/carb heavy foods with processed gluten free clones of these foods, you’re probably not going to notice anything other than the placebo effect.
when I was younger and suffering lyme disease I needed bloodwork done often, and the lyme specialist I was seeing noticed in my bloodwork results that I had something that indicated “gluten sensitivity” and recommended I do not consume gluten anymore… I was like 12 and didn’t really understand what she was talking about but I know she never said celiac disease… so I’m confused
This guy’s a joke! He rants about the prices of the moronic gluten-free diet craze, but look at the hideous costs of his own profession!
Me? My shopping is limited to the outside walls of the food store where least processed foods are displayed
I don’t eat a gluten free diet by any means, but I do often opt for gluten free products over non-gluten free. Why? Because of taste. I don’t really like the way most gluten-y things taste for example I hate the taste and consistency of pasta and only like bread if it is completely toasted/stale/crunch, never chewy or soft and I find that most products without gluten are yummier to eat.
…Is it possible just not particularly like most proteins? I’m also a vegetarian solely for taste preferences. Meat just tastes gross and I don’t like the texture. I know I need protein obviously, and I do try to get it from other sources like nuts that I do like, but a lot of things containing protein just aren’t very good to me….I also dislike all beans.
Great video. I’m a coeliac and hate the gluten free diet. I don’t think just cause it says gluten free it is healthy. Most of the good gluten free food is full of junk normal people wouldn’t eat if they actually read labels. The day I can stop eating gluten free will be the best day of my life.
Of course, the study that set off this fad trend involved only 34 patients, which makes it very hard to know whether those results would be applicable to the larger, general public. In addition, he makes a point in this video that the challenge study that was performed showed no evidence of specific or dose dependent effects of gluten. Despite this, that are still large groups of people who believe that they are “gluten intolerant”, and spending a ridiculous amount of money on a fad diet that makes them believe that they feel better. This behavior continues to even influence others around them to support the “gluten is evil” trend that is currently taking place. The research has shown that this is not the case, and most of those with a self-diagnosed celiac sensitivity do not meet criteria, and the rest have symptoms that are poorly controlled, even on a gluten-free diet. The most interesting portion of this video is the fact that those individuals who believe that their gluten-free diet is leading them to consume healthier products may actually being doing quite the opposite; the studies he reviewed showed that gluten-free products are often higher in carbohydrates and fats, and lower in protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Remember: if you believe that you have celiac disease or a wheat allergy, this should be diagnosed by your DOCTOR, who has been trained to make that decision.
People ask me all the time, are u pregnant? I’m like nope just bloated. Gosh it’s so annoying
I tried the gluten free thing for a while to deal with some chronic heartburn I was having. Didn’t really have any consistent improvements.
I’ve since switched to a lactose free diet and it seems to be going pretty well. Thankfully lactose is much easier to avoid than Gluten.
I completely agree with this video. My best friend has celiacs disease. She is on a fully gluten-free diet, as she should be. However, I have three other close friends who do not have celiacs and claim to be “gluten intolerant.” While I let them run with the idea, I do not think that the self-diagnosed gluten intolerance is reasonable, but rather a way of fitting in with the current trend. My friends even eat gluten in social settings quite often for someone with an intolerance. A few weeks after three of my friends diagnosed themselves, more of my friends did the same. I agree that if you have celiacs disease or are allergic to wheat, by all means please do not eat gluten. On the other hand, I think “gluten intolerant” people need to either be diagnosed or admit they are just trying to fit in with the fad diet.
What if you are someone who likes some physical pains? Like pricking your fingers or putting a nail through your foot? Is there a reason or a term for that?
Thank you very much, I have Lupus and it’s been suggested several times that No gluten would cure me. I never bought into it, it seemed like a fad to me. I have no more doubt.
As my partner almost certainly has celiac (has had multiple diagnostic tests), I’m on board with more people eating gluten free, because even at the current volume, the food is brutally expensive.
Try eating a few slices of sourdough bread. It has 3 ingredients, unlike processed breads with 20+, this difference is more likely to cause health issues than gluten.
All I know is that when I eat food that contains gluten, even on accident and without knowing I have until later, I feel like crap for about eight hours afterward, sick to my stomach, and unable to think clearly. It’s been this way for about 6 years, and I’d just rather not change my diet back to contain gluten. Besides, I mostly cook vegetables, rice, beans, and lean meats, and generally eat a lot healthier than I did before I went gluten-free. I don’t really care if it’s scientifically supported, or if it’s just a fad. I don’t eat gluten-free substitute food, as most of it is terrible. I just feel a lot better when I don’t eat gluten.
what I find sad is that people have lost the ability to know their food. It is not necessary to wait for a big agro/food company to develop gluten free products to eat gluten free. Their is more than wheat and other gluten cereals in the world of mother nature. I can happily eat non-gluten without resorting to any ‘fad’ products. The world is bursting with natural non-gluten products, i.e. naturally occurring in nature without factory transformation. Always has been.

What can I take for pain when I get these attacks they’re soooo painful
he purportedly sets out to clear up the facts on gluten and try and distinguish the craze surrounding gluten free from the scientific evidence which set it off in many ways a good cause: there are probably people who are needlessly limiting their diets when they might be better off trying other approaches to resolving their health problems. However, his wording, whilst factually correct, reeks of cynisism towards anecdotal evidence, and rigid adherence to the medical system which, although fantastic in many ways, is not as accurate nor as knowledgeable as we like to believe. The complex workings of the gut in particular is an extremely cutting edge science, and is unfortunately far from accurate. Rejection of anecdotal evidence blinds doctors and patients to vast stores of knowledge and experience. Although the wheat hasn’t been sifted from the chaff when it comes to verifying claims, and suspicion regarding reliability is therefore justified, testimonies from people trying gluten free simply cannot be unanimously rejected as suspicious or caused by placebo purely on the basis that they haven’t been ‘officially’ verified by doctors. To deny a person’s experience purely on the basis that it hasn’t (yet) been explained by doctors is blind, patronising, and unfortunately potentially quite harmful. So I take issue with this guy’s attempt to brush over anecdotal evidence, and persuade viewers that they ‘shouldn’t be on that gluten free diet’. The facts are important, and obviously the title is click bait as well. But choosing to accept only the facts with the official stamp of approval from the medical community is blinkered and harmful. It should be remembered that it is often anecdotal evidence that prompts research and discoveries in the first place. If millions of people claim to feel better on a gluten free diet, the task is not to criticise and scoff, but to ask why.
Fad diets are dumb. I don’t need anyone telling me what to eat unless they’re a real doctor and I have a real health problem.
My mother has always had issues with her stomach, its been confirmed to not be irritable bowel nor celiac or any allergy. It seems to be stress related and she is to be frank a drama-queen. She decided to go gluten-free a few months ago and has claimed feeling better, I’m thinking this is probably placebo as my mother still manages to eat non-loaf breads, gluten-rich brown bread, and brown rice and somehow believe she is on a gluten-free diet.
Is it true that gluten is an inflammatory? I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and in hopes that I could get rid of some inflammation, I cut out gluten. Are you telling me that I could have been drinking beer and eating delicious pasta this whole time? Asking for a friend.
Which is the study being referred to at 7:04? I can’t find it in the references.
I really liked this video, as I have a close family member with Celiac Disease. It’s hard to find things that we can eat together because she has a very specific diet that she has to follow. However, I wish that people would stop following this fad because they think it is healthier for them. Our bodies are able to process gluten naturally, unless you have an intolerance. Gluten-Free diets don’t really help you at all. A lot of people think gluten is really bad for them, when it really isn’t.
I never knew what gluten-free was until I took a nutrition class my sophomore year of college. I learned how in people with celiac disease, the gluten destroys the hairlike fibers in your intestine causing absorption of nutrients to lessen or stop all together. I know many people with celiac disease who are gluten-free, I have a sorority sister who has a severe sensitivity to gluten and I’ve heard of gluten allergies. There’s not a doubt in my mind that gluten-free options need to be available. But my absolute, hands-down biggest pet peeve is when people who don’t have these dietary issues say they are gluten-free and when I ask them why, it never fails that I get the response of “gluten is bad for you”. No, its not. It’s only unhealthy for people who have celiac, gluten sensitivities or an allergy. In the nutrition class I mentioned earlier, we watched a documentary about a man who went out into New York and found people who were on this fad diet and asked them all the same question, “What is gluten?” Not a single person knew what gluten was, yet they were on this diet. It just shows how uneducated people are on health these days. Quite honestly, I find people who go on this diet because they “heard gluten is bad for you” are idiots. This brings me to the saying your mom would mention when your reasoning was because so and so did it. “If so-and-so jumped off a bridge, would you?” I feel so strongly about this because this shows people could potentially make bad decisions for their health just because of word of mouth and not because of factual evidence. I actually didn’t talk to a roommate of mine for a week after talking about going on a gluten-free diet because I was disgusted by the fact that a health major who was in a nutrition class fell into the trap of a fad diet.
The diseases produced from gluten are serious, so it really grinds my gears when someone jumps on the bandwagon of a gluten free diet without knowing the reason people do it. The hype of this diet just goes to show how naïve we are. When one person does something, we all have to do it. I understand that it’s under diagnosed and so it makes people want to be sure that they are not affected from gluten, but I bet at least a third of the people on a gluten free diet don’t know what gluten is or why there’re on the diet.
My friend’s wife has celiacs disease and she regularly mocks this new diet fad where people avoid gluten unnecessarily. She has to avoid it by necessity; these people shouldn’t act like they have to.
I sympathize with those with a true diagnosis of Celiac’s disease. Working in a restaurant has made the gluten fad extremely annoying. People are constantly ordering gluten free items but then still eating the bread or order dessert so I know they are not true Celiac sufferers. We are extremely careful in the preparation of gluten free entrees and sides. Everything is cooked in a separate area with different utensils to avoid cross-contamination. If you don’t truly have a problem with gluten then this is a very time consuming process. This fad I think has made it easier for actual sufferers because now they have more selection of food items in restaurants and grocery stores. This i think makes their life feel more normal. I have intestinal issues and was put on a gluten free diet; it was extremely expensive and I felt little difference. I do believe more people are having issues with wheat because we consume so much of it. American wheat has been altered so much and our bodies aren’t meant to digest that much. I’d rather pay for organic and still get to enjoy my non-quinoa pasta.
Obviously this guy is not gluten intolerant, if he was then he, like many of us who suffer, would know the effects on our digestive system. I know what gluten does to me, and the health benefits of avoiding it. I note he doesn’t talk about the differing types of gluten, the prevalence of high gluten in commercially grown wheat and the low gluten strains such as spelt. Could it be that the exceptionally high volume of gluten in modern diets is a contributing factor? Our hunter / gatherer digestive systems has not fully adapted to modern gluten rich diet perhaps? Calling it a fad when there’s obviously way more research to be done is a naive viewpoint, more science than opinion please.
We’re the people in the study tested for Celiacs or Wheat Allergies before they were accepted in the study? I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about two years ago. When I look back I see the possibility that I had silent Celiac Disease for years, perhaps decades. I would get canker sores and pains in my sides and back for years. Only when the classic symptoms and weight loss kick in did I start to suspect something. The blood test and endoscop confirmed it. So after going GF and getting the weight loss and intestinal damage under control, I noticed that I no longer get canker sores or those odd pains in my back and sides.
The point I want to make here is that some of you with a gluten sensitivity may actually have silent Celiacs Disease! Ask your doctor to do the blood test to make sure. If your doctor doesn’t think it’s necessary, then you can get it done yourself through an online lab. The full Celiac Panel is generally under $200. I get the transglutaminase IGA test done to check how well I’m holding to a gluten free diet and it only cost about $80. So if you want peace of mind, get tested, then follow up every five to ten years. I wish I would have known to do this earlier, but now I’m making sure my adult children are getting tested, and I will remind them to do so ever few years.
I have to agree with many points in this video, and also disagree with one. There are many members of my family that were diagnosed with IBS for years. It was not until one of them had a colonoscopy, and was diagnosed with Celiac Disease that the rest of them also found out that they too had Celiac Disease. I believe it is something that is commonly misdiagnosed, a lot of the reason beinga majority of people do not want a diagnostic test done. While certain inflammatory markers from lab draws may suggest Celiac Disease, Gastro’s typically will only give a solid diagnosis by biopsy.
With this being said, I can understand the frustrating point about people “jumping on the bandwagon” and entering this “gluten-free” fad. But who are you to say that this doesn’t work for a lot of these individuals? While some of them may be doing it for ridiculous reasons, a lot of people actually FEEL BETTER limiting foods that contain gluten. Whether that is due to gluten intolerance, or an un-diagnosed gluten allergy or Celiac Diseasewho knows. Do I believe the food industry is taking advantage of this? Absolutely. But I also believe that the majority of consumers that participate in this diet are getting some sort of positive outcome from this. There absolutely needs to be more research done on this issue. The general public could also use a lesson on gluten, and common bowel disorders.
In the beginning of this episode where it says that type 1 diabetes people are more likely to have celiac dieses, well actually my brother is type 1 diabetic and he does not have this, so I’m assuming he is just one of the “lucky” ones that this didn’t happen to? Also when it talks about going on a gluten free diet (unless you are allergic or whatever) it is actually really bad for you. Carbohydrates are a macronutrient, in other words your body needs a lot of that nutrient to be healthy. Well when you stop eating gluten (a large carb source) your body will start “destroying” itself per say and break down vital nutrients so your body has enough of that nutrient. So unless you are allergic or intolerant, eat up!!
I am one of those rare people with a gluten allergy (I get hives). I am an adult (got my allergy to gluten at the age of 23). Oh and the best part is I HATE it! If I could eat gluten I would. On a gluten-free diet it is really hard to find a good 7-grain bread or a 12-grain bread and what I wouldn’t do to get a croissant (my life has never been complete since I gave these up)!
On the flip side of things, there are so many more things available to me now than there were when I first became allergic. And as much of a boon this fad has done for me having options, it also has become misleading. There are a few pizza places and restaurants that offer gluten-free options, but cook them in the same ovens and areas as gluten foods (causing contamination). Because gluten-free sells, more of these psudo gluten-free places are cropping up. it’s irritating.
If you feel better avoiding gluten, then don’t eat it. It costs nothing to replace pasta with potatoes, and everything else has easy and cheap alternatives.
Forget the doctor, just test yourself. Go completely gluten free (strict) for 30 days, then pig out on pasta and bread for couple of days. If you are one of the few who will feel uncomfortable, at least you know what causes it.
You don’t have to become a “gluten bore” like this guy.
I understand that a lot of people need to be on this diet and that it was developed in order to help people with the Celiac disease. It is so annoying though when people go on gluten free diets just as a “health nut” concern. Most of them don’t even know what gluten does for you. Sometimes it just seems like they want to be gluten free so they can say it, but then their diet suggests that they obviously don’t understand what has gluten: beer, pasta, or even pickles. If you think you need a gluten free diet then go to the doctor first so you aren’t excluding this from your diet in vain.
I have IBS and PCOS lost 30 pounds in 2 months, and you know what I did? Nothing just eating less yunk and more healthy things, but honestly even with IBS and my problems with my intestines, I still eat wheat, glutens, and whatever I eat almost anything! I don’t eat a lot of it, because yeah like anything a lot of it is bad, moderate! I actually have not had changes, and I feel GREAT with my intestines, I have NEVER had constipation, yeah even with IBS, loosing weight is what made me feel better, even less nausea and heartburn, which is also because I take my medicine well and I do more exercise or stretch! I don’t substitute gluten at all and I am still okay:D Okay, look keep a variety and balance!!!:D
Ate gluten free pizza once by mistake. I was not prepared for the cardboard in my mouth and thought I was eating display piece. Holy crap was it terrible.
Have to get tested soon. I have some symptoms, and it getting worse. I ate 5 fishsticks and my stomach I felt bad for hours.
have you ever heard of Gut Health? Clearly not. Is stool consistency not at least a small indicator of gut health? Diarrhea: bad. Constipation: bad. But runny or loose stools is cool? Especially when you may notice that your symptoms are directly related to gluten consumption. And please, stop complaining about how much money GF companies are making on their products. How much more money is made from gluten-containing products? Ever thought about that? And please don’t rely completely on doctors who have virtually no training on nutrition and gut health. They are taught to suppress symptoms with drugs and surgery. Wake up America!
thanks 4 proving us your a fool and don’t know anything comp to the rest
I had a friend come to me who was angry about this gluten free diet thing, he can’t have gluten because it gets him sick and stuff, he stated that the food with gluten was more tasty and its frustrating not having an option. While others are just doing it out of a fad.
Lots of plants have inbuilt poisons or antagonists to deter creatures from eating them. Vegetarianism is not necessarily your answer. Some people flourish when they use the “carnivore diet”. I want the amazing beneficial elements in free range, organic meat and vegetables.
I will be seeing you in a couple of weeks and feel this is the path that I need to be on. Although, I am a Veggie and fruit lover. I have neck (Left) pain which is constant. I do want to cure this pain and do not want to live with it.
Very convincing evidence of the value of the right diet as opposed to a bad diet. Excellent delivery, easy to listen to.
I will be sending my friends in pain to this site.
I have fibromyalgia and have made most of these changes and am finally feeling so much better and much healthier overall. You are the doctor of the future. So glad there are a few of you out there that are actually trying to make people better instead of just salving over the pain. It is so logical that good nutrition is an absolute necessity for good health yet is so overlooked by the “healthcare” people.
It is so commendable that you were so severe but you fought yourself out, as many give up and die. Thank You DR WAHLS! I’m a fighter too. I );-DDD
I was diagnosed 25 years ago only the past 2 years it has been progressing bu5 I’m fighting to stay in shape but the past year, 6 months, 2 months my fatigue is getting worse. I NEVER GET DEPRESSED. I ):-DDD
احس انك كذابة. كل هذا العلم عرفتيه بعد 2010. اجل كيف كان وضعك قبل 2010
Interesting comment in the video regarding microbiome deficiency of one specific bacteria… I just found someone reviewing a study indicating that a week long potato only diet significantly increased the bio diversity in the gut after an unknown time when the person was consuming a substantial array of fresh veg and fruit… potatoes are very pre biotic and my be a beneficial addition to this diet… and one of the keys is to consume fiber that ferments in the lower intestine
I have MS with type 1 diabetes, which means I have to have carbs.. what can I do about it if I still want to do the diet?
Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you tried Dinanlinson Rebooting Health Approach (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a great exclusive product for getting rid of chronic fatigue syndrome without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my close friend Aubrey got excellent success with it.
Is there a good green protein powder one can use as a base for green smoothie?
Thank’s for share al this powerful information, but I want to ask you, if you can do something to make it in Spanish and others language as possible, a thousands of people around the world needs that!!
Terry yo no se inglés. Te pido por favor que se pueda leer en español subtitulado. Lo necesito. Todo en youtube sobre está en inglés! Gracias. Aunque no creo que se produzca! Gracias. Cuando pueda compraré tus libros. Tengo esclerosis múltiple progresiva hace 20 años y no avanzo.

Thank you for sharing this is so informational. My mom has ms and I’ve always wondered how I could help her. This really opened my mind. Thank you
People if you don’t make your Dr keep your vitamins and minerals in tacked you will get these diseases. So just make sure that your vitamins are in a opplptimal rang you will start getting sick
I have MS, found in 2008, but would never do their drugs… just got another MRI and worse. Sciatica so bad 3 times. I agree, meat may help. I did a lot of sports before, and had a bad diet, which may have broke me down.
Get on a fast mimicking diet and start fasting asap. Refeed low carb to stay in ketosis.
I don’t understand why or whose benefits were denied, but I have MS and I receive disability benefits
Can somebody call me I need to ask some questions 702-849-4300 my name is Gigi my son has MS
I was told I don’t have celiac but I should still avoid gluten. I feel a lot better. My diarrhea went away and I can focus. if gluten sensitivity doesn’t exist then why does going gf help me?
49:21 The third century called and said “we’ve known this for a millennia”
It seems logical that very obese people have great opportunity because they can survive for weeks without food. With little or no food and Whal’s diet these folks can see dramatic difference and don’t really need other food.
Dr.Wahls i was wondering if your diet would be beneficial for a person with polymyalgia rheumatica and neuropathy
The main problem the this protocol is it contains Fish because all the Seafood are contaminated with mercury which is the main cause of MS
It seems that the turning point for this lady was when she immensely increased her vegetable intake. Wfpb diet might have worked too. It also seems to me that she was exercising in a way that was excessive for her body before she got her MS diagnosis.
Why did my creatinine drop to half what it was with the same amount of exercise?
So to go vegan or vegetarian isnt neccessary if you have MS?
Why does the government deny ms/patients disability benefits?
I live in Palo Alto CA. my husband was just diagnosed with CIDP which is similar to MS. I’ve ordered the Wahls protocol book. Do you know if there are any group programs in our area (like the groups Dr Walhs shared about in this interview)? Thank you so much for your work Dr Wahls and to the Institute for Functional Medicine for getting the word out.
Blessings,
Amara
Needed to go on a morphine drip, it’s like food poisoning without feeling sick, just the raw pain in the stomach.
I get that so much. I can eat my meal. Wash my plate. Sit down and straight have to run to the bathroom like Naruto no joke
I dont know if it’s bcuz food or it just happens… Daily ibs pain since Sept 1993…
Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about “back pain and ibs” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some super things about it and my mate got amazing results with it
I have IBS pain right now. waiting for it to settle down so i can sleep
I realy like that you make these video’s:) i found your channel today and today is kind of one of the worst ibs day’s i have had so far so this realy helps figure things out:)
I’ve been suffering from this for about almost 2 years. The pain is very stressful everything I eat just makes my stomach hurt and cramp up more wonderful thing is I have severe anxiety and it makes my stomach hurt more
The doctors don’t know what’s wrong with me how is ibs diagnosed?
Is it in one specific area where you get pain with IBS or is it several and does it radiate
Hi, Elizabeth here,
Thank you, Becky, for this. It’s good to know I’m not alone with IBS. I’ve become more poorly since 2017. Now, I have chronic IBS. I’ve been prescribed IBS medication for the constant pain.
I also take painkillers. Tomorrow, I’ll start taking additional prescribed medication and book another blood test.
Like you, it’s taking over my days and my nights. I’m keeping a food diary now but nothing seems to be ok for me to eat.
I had a long talk to senior GP today and he confirmed everything I’ve learntscientists don’t know what causes it and it’s a symptomatic syndrome so there cannot be evidence for its existence. Hurrah! Isn’t it so nice to know that!!!!:(
Does anyone feel and poke around their lower and upper abdomen/whole stomach and feel hardness and stuff? Also, do any of you experience a long period of pain from it? Like a couple of weeks of pain and discomfort from it?
Sooo I’m 11 and have had ALL the symptoms of IBS and think I have it. How do I tell my mom? It’s cause me EXTREME pain and makes me rush to the bathroom. Thank you for any help at all!
This is just superb, I have been researching “natural cure ibs” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (do a google search )? Ive heard some decent things about it and my buddy got great success with it
Are the cramping stomach pains like starting your period? because thats how my pain feels
thanx for this video…..my family dont understand how painful and worrying it can be….mine is caused by constipation…..the whole of my abdomen is sore….even chest pain so i panic that something bad is wrong….so anxiety doesnt help matters…..i havent found anything that i can take to stop it….meberivine, buscupan, colpermint….nothing so i need to go to the loo to try and pass a stool….its a horrible cycle….
That moment when you cry because you do not feel so alone. Right now I am doing low fodmap elimination phase amd am still having flare ups due to stress. My doctor has diagnosed me with IBS and possibly endometriosis. Either way. Trying to stay positive is hard
It is true, your videos make me feel better because i don’t feel so alone. Thank you!
Does anyone else have these wierd pains very early in the morning? So strange!
I can relate so much to this especially the one about getting excited or really nervous. And it is the worst pain I will ever feel.
I’m only 14 and I have been dealing with ibs pain since I was only 9! Sometimes I will wake up in the mornings with automatic pain and 9 times out of 10 my stomach will hurt on and off for 4-7 days. It really hurts when I get anxious or nervous or even excited. I had cheerleadung tryiuts and everyone around me was practicing jumps and their dance they are trying out to and ill be sitting there in pain. I’ll will have a flare up during school sometimes but I can’t go to the bathroom the first and last 5 mins of class, and it makes me feel like I’m going to explode and the pain makes me cry sometimes, thats how much ut hurts. I can’t drink milk, eat taco bell, ice cream, coffee, or soda. I just wish that I could have worried about things like tests and getting chores done like normal people my age rather than worrying about how much pain I will be in. I go to birthday parties, football games, and sleepovers and my ibs pain is so bad that I bring a full bottle of pepto on me at all times.
Lovely Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard about Millawdon Livestrong Way Trick (just google it)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for eliminating IBS without the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.
I have kids and my IBS reminds me every time I had contractions, it’s the worse pain ever! And I feel like I want to vomit while I get these pains. And so embarrassing when I’m out in public.
Thanks for this video Becky. The systemS and pain your describing is my life and has been since I was born I was 1 of the first people to be diagnosed with ibs in the earlier 80’s. Then no believe it was a really illness no one understood what it was like. I had every test and exam possible saw countless specialists most told me it was all in my head. I live with pain constantly And relate to this video so much. I’m so pleased all who are diagnosed with IBS now are understood and that ibs is now a recognised illness. Again thanks Becky this video makes me feel less alone living with ibs.
I missed the first 6 days of my job due to me being sick and in and out of the hospital due to IBS. I have such a weak immune system and am currently sitting at home, yet again, when I’m suppose to be at work, due to me feeling so nauseous and sick. Any ideas on supplements or medications I should talk to my doctor about. I’ve seriously considered just quitting everything due to the pain I’ve been in because of IBS. I’m nonstop sick and it’s getting to the point where I cannot handle it…
Winner of a video, I been tryin to find out about “can ibs cause leg pain” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it
Does anybody ever get pains just on their right side? That come on suddenly and can range from mild to severe? Sometimes lasting minutes, other times can last a day? I’ve had this pain randomly SO randomly for years on end, I’ve had a colonoscopy that came back clear and MRI that came back clear? Honestly could this really just be IBS?
Does Ibs cause nausea and diarrhea and bloat? I’m sick of it and I don’t know and to take it makes it hard to breath sometimes as well
No one understands. They say u have anxiety or its all in ur head. I probably spent 3 years testing for what it was. My parents say its reflux but when i search up IBS its just so relatable. I am constantly tired but my IBS is triggered by citric acid, fizzy drinks and cake. But when i finally sit on the toilet with the pain making me scream i feel like committing suicide its so bad.
Probably like 70% of people watching this are in pain right now
Many thanks, I’ve been looking for “where is ibs pain felt” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (do a search on google )? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy got cool success with it
Does anyone experience this? I have pain only on the right side of my abdomen.. right under my rib. The pain is constant. Doesn’t go away.. i’ve had it for 1 month.. but i’ve also noticed that it hurts more when i stretch.. and i’m confused, i dont know if this is a muscle or a pinched nerve or something. Does anyone else with ibs experience more pain when the strecth to the side? Thank you
Thankfully my hyoscyamine manages my IBS pain pretty well. But I still get really bad spasms a few times a week. Mine builds up. So I can feel the start of an awful day. So my lower stomach will start to feel off. Then as the day goes on it gets worse. Then out of no where it hits me and I literally fall to the ground into a ball with how bad I’m in pain. People just don’t understand unless you have it. I always get weird looks and stuff from people. I can’t help it when it feels like someone is stabbing me in my intestines. IBS is just such an inconvenience lol.
Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds so horrible what you go through on a daily basis. I’m finding myself in a situation similar lately because this latest attack doesn’t seem to be going away. It has subsided quite a bit, but still causing cramps and pain where as before, it used to disappear until the next few months or re appear somewhere during the year. Hang in there and God bless you!
Thank you for this video Becky. It’s so hard to get others to understand. I can relate to you so much. I have had severe IBS for many years. I can relate so much. Its life changing and it’s a lifestyle. Thank you so much for trying to get the word out. Many thanks for this video from a fellow IBS sufferer.
Girl literally the minute something I shouldn’t have hits my tongue my whole digestive system and stomach starts to attack me!! I’m so glad y’all can relate because I thought I was going crazy. I’m losing pounds everyday and my clothes are starting to fit snug.. I feel like a balloon
my boyfriend got ibs and he is pretty depressed bc of it and almost always in a lot of pain. i think its pretty similar to what u described…
MAYBE the brain gut thing affects us more than FOOD!!!!!!!!!!
My biggest frustration is when I bloat for no apparent reason. So hard to make plans because you never know when your gut is going to twist up in pain.
Thanks for your video. Yes, I too have suffered with this horrible IBS my whole life. It’s affected my life and limited my life choices. I hope you have found a solution since making this video. I’m so sorry you suffer from IBS
Yes that’s wat happens to me it’s awful there like labor pains that’s exactly what’s happening to me I cannot wear tight clothes anymore even my under wear when I get the pain it gets so bad I just start throwing up like a Fossett I thought I was the only one, yes am fine then just all the sudden
i think i have ibs because i feel the exact same way. one night the pain was so bad in both sides from the cramping & sharp pains from the gas trapped in my stomach. the pain also moves to my pelvis. idk what to do
This was great, I have been researching “how to cure ibs constipation” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint ( search on google )? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got excellent success with it
This is glorious, I have been researching “ibs and nausea symptoms” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend got amazing success with it
Excellent Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you heard the talk about Weyannah Reyharlotte Method (just google it)? It is a great one off product for getting rid of IBS and irritable colon Immediately without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my m8 finally got cool success with it.
I can’t go to the doctor right now but I really think I have this I had an episode this past Friday where the pain was so bad like someone was stabbing me in the stomach like gas I couldn’t pass and then I was constipated:( I had to work so I just powered through it and tried to breathe the pains
My stomach makes a lot of noises. It’s embarrassing. Especially when I’m with a lady friend. Seems like you have to have the perfect diet to feel better.
My biggest trouble is staying positive through the pain, and trying to still feel “like myself” and not be rude or snippy towards people. I feel so bad for being rude to the people I love
Dealing with this right now it’s horrible my upper abdomen is killing me I can’t use the bathroom I keep burping and I’m so tired but can’t lay down due to the pain ugh I just took a probiotic supplement that’s all I have right now hopefully it’ll work
Yes I have ptsd major seniory overload and angsiaty which makes my ibs go mental all day and night and I get pain as soon as I’m up
My symptoms and attacks are mostly anxiety induced starts with shooting pain fibromyalgia left trap shoulder neck area radiating then nausea shaking stomach pain sometimes dizziness and weakness can last from half hour to two hours max usually ends with incontinence
Cold sweat double over in pain in the morning horrible diarrhea. Anyone else?
It’s so comforting to know that there’s someone else in the world feels exactly exactly exactly the same as me! Thanks so much for the video!!! I think we should be bffs, hehehehe….
Yeah I need tips for ibs but I’m also always hungry cause it’s. Like the food goes straight through me I don’t get it
I watched this video to understand what my son is going through. Food is not his friend, even safe foods.
It is maddening. I really wish I could help him more.
I had no idea what ibs was until just recently. My doctor just thought it was like terrible gas pains or something. It wasn’t until I went to the hospital for the worse pain I’ve ever had in my life right next to having my gallbladder explode. that I found out that ibs was a thing. And for a while I remember being ashamed then angry with people because when I was in pain they would just say I’ve had worse or you’ll be find. Like it wasn’t until I was in the hospital crying and gripping my stomach that people really understood the pain. My ibs pain is on a 24/7 basis. No matter what I eat, drink or any activity I do. I’m in pain. Not like the oh I shouldn’t of ate cheese fries I’ll be in the bathroom for an hour pain. But the I’ve tried over 20 medications, pain killers, alternative treatments and surgerys. And the pain level is beyond that of when I’ve broken bones, had terrible misscarrages and gallbladder exploding. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone. I wish more people were open about their ibs because it gets embarrassing not being able to relate with people
Thank you EVERYTHING you said is 100 percent how I feel. It’s insanity to be in pain like this.
Okay then. What about the tests reactions to various foods? Are those legitimate? I don’t even know the tests are called, and I know that makes it difficult to say. Some family members have been tested and come up positive for things. Have you heard of crossover grains? Lest you think I’m challenging you, I would love to just eat wheat instead of the gluten free diet my family went on together. I’ll still support the local dedicated gluten free bakery though.
Just a heads up if you can’t stand the pain tylenol will dull it. But with cramping and having a episode I’ve found eating saltine crackers to stop the attack.
Getting a heating pad to wear out for pain
I’m allergic to everything that triggers my IBS so I can literally only eat certain veggies and fruit if I want my diet to fix it or I can take pills.
I always look pregnant even t shirts and sweat pants and dresses. Mom makes me take tests often then I feel fat
I eat incredibly slow (choke a lot) and eat 2 bites of food and get “pregnant “ and nauseous
I never let people near me during ibs and my bf doesn’t understand and thinks I’m breaking up with him
I’m having difficulty getting and keeping a bloody job consuming me, my life, pisssssed off. Tks for vid, makes me feel better hearing your story and others here.
Lately I haven’t been sleeping cause I feel very nasues when I try to relax to sleep and I only sleep 4 hours here and there since when I wake up I feel really sick again. Tell me am not the only one?
As someone who was unaware of what celiac disease was prior the up rise of a gluten free society fad, I am internally troubled by what has spiraled out of this movement. As for people who live with celiac disease, that cannot be enjoyable, although I am happy for you that now supermarkets are bursting at the seams with food for you to eat. Unfortunately this has a flip side, and that side is the complete neglect people in the general public have for facts or the medical research. Considering the initial study that started the idea of ‘gluten intolerance’ only contained 34 people and was scraping the barrel for conclusive results that alone should be a warning that the results are not definitive. Not only was the initial study rather inconclusive, the head researcher set up a more in-depth, more scientific study to reexamine his results, although at this time, he reported no significant results. (Wait, actually nothing? Yep, nothing.) I get it, people want to be their own doctor and diagnose themselves and all of their friends with varying degrees of gluten intolerance. Although there is a minor problem, most members of the general public are not physicians. If you think there is something wrong with your GI tract, you should visit a doctor. There really is a reason some humans go to school for 12 years after high school. Furthermore, when the issue of the placebo effect is mentioned, everyone turns into anecdotal Annie who happens to have her PhD in psychology. Just because you think not eating gluten alleviated all of your stomach upset, does not mean that is scientific, and frankly, it doesn’t really mean that any pain was alleviated at all. It really is mind blowing how many people will conform to the masses and then openly refute not only trained professionals such as physicians, but also the science those professionals use to explain their reasoning. That is truly what worries me, not the consistency of someone’s stool while not eating gluten, but rather the metaphorical stool that comes forth from their mouths.
Ok so idk for sure if i have it, i need to go to the doctors again BUT i have pain lower (like lady bits) and it hurt me EVERYDAY im tired of it. I cry every night. Its hard to live normally and i feel like its taking my life away and joy. Its taking everything from me. No its not a UTI. I wish it would stop. Like its so bad that im so grateful when it doesnt hurt. I wonder what its like to not worry about this and go atleast a day without pain.
It’s not just you!!!!! It happens instantly for me too, at this moment I’m in horrible pain! I can’t walk or stand right now and my bottom is in muscle pain as well. I feel like vomiting! I’m so glad that I’m not alone
tks becky, it was rather edifying, your ibs experience. im learning too
yeah yeah I get that too, when I try to nap during the day, it cramps up when im resting, what the dickens going on
Yeah, its messing up so many aspects of my life, I asked my doctor if this can qualify as disability she said no, unfortunately. Which is strange as it makes if very hard for me hold down any job, and there’s no cure. Well, we IBS people literally have to SOLDIER on
I have IBS and I’m 14 food doesn’t trigger it for me its stress but I get a burning pain and then it gets worse and worse I end up rocking to stop the pain and I then have a warm drink and it helps sometimes I get the pain like once a month depending on my stomach the worse IBS pain I have had I woke up at 4 in the morning in pain and I was screaming to relive the pain end of the story I was sick 5 times and has an ambulance out worse day ever. Does anyone else know when they are going to have an attack because I do it’s like my stomack is always full
No joke, just woke up, fell asleep super early at 9, woke up 2 hours later and it was miserable, alot better at the moment know though, took some dicyclomine and that helps
I relate to almost everything you said. I always get down on myself because I feel fat since my stomach is never flat and I always have to unbutton my pants from bloating. I hate that I can’t wear cute tight tops and also I love food so I always eat things I shouldn’t and then regret it. When I am stressed I get horrible IBS attacks and bloating which makes me more stressed and eat worse/more, which results in a horrible cycle. I also feel like no one really understands how random and severe ibs is. Because it’s so on and off I never feel like it’s a legit disorder and I make it seem like not a big deal to my friends.
How about this Health triage, stop telling people what does and does not bother them.
I can not stand know it all so called health experts who do not know it all.
I have had ibs for 20 years. But now I have new symptoms like sharp pain on right side minutes after I Eat or move or have to poop. It comes and goes through out the day. Feels like lightning pain and it makes me drop to my knees sometimes. I went to er twice and had catscans and they said no gallstones or anything. So they said it’s just ibs and possible painful colon spasms. Anyone else have this
Thank you so much for sharing all of that. I know exactly how you feel cuz i suffer from the same problems that ibs causes you… hope someday there will be a cure…
Big hug from israel <3
So many thousands of thank yous for this video! Ibs cost me so many incredible opportunities, but it did cause me to niche down and become a super specialist. People really don’t understand the pain side, and it causes me to make very very bad decisions if things need to be instant.
I get back pains with IBS and I can’t breathe sometimes but thank god I’m young and I have my mum.
Have u tried acupuncture and yoga it has helped my ibs a lot. Acupuncture by a Chinese doctor cured me from ibs pain.
Hi Becky, just a fellow with IBS as well seeking some help. When I’m flushing out my bowels a lot of the time I start crying and getting almost like scared… Feeling like there’s no escape. If you could help or anything that’d be great!
i have celiac and have been gf for 11 yearsplease keep buying gf food!!! i just paid $3 for a gluten free microwave hot pocket!!! wow!!!!
What you’re describing doesn’t sound like IBS. IBS is a bowel condition. If it’s happening instantly when you eat something, that sounds like something else, maybe a stomach condition? IBS is typified by a cramping response in the large intestine in response to certain foods, and/or stress. The pain tends to present in the lower abdomen or the left side of the body, not the stomach. It’s also usually accompanied by either diarrhoea or constipation. What you’re describing sounds more like acid reflux or chronic indigestion. Then again, I’m not a doctor, so I might be completely wrong. But my experience of IBS doesn’t sound anything like what you’re describing.
Goodness, yes! I’m just learning about my IBS & what triggers I have. I’ve noticed alcohol & sugary drinks have such an effect on me. I typically don’t drink, but if I do, very basic, clear drinks are my go-to’s. Today (after a night of a few sugary cocktails), absolutely everything I put in my body has been awful. Hoping to learn more about this thing so life can be a bit more manageable! Thanks for your videos, love
Me: eats a food and suddenly gets stomach ache. Everyone else: oh no it can’t be (insert food) you just ate that!…
does anyone else get pain around the anus from going to the bathroom a lot?
