Boil water and make a tea (green or whatever you prefer), put inside a very small amount of ginger and turmeric in powder and if you also want you can add some honey. It’s medicine!

I was recently diagnosed with a fatty liver. I was also overweight, and also had high blood pressure. I did the one meal a day diet for a month and my liver is now back to normal, I have lost over a stone in weight (13.5 stones to 12.1 stones), and my blood pressure is now back to a healthy reading. I also feel a lot better with more energy. I have a treadmill at home and can run for longer and I am not out of breath at the end. I am also saving money and watch what I eat. I make what I eat count. The first week was hard as my body adjusted to not having regular meals, but after a week I didn’t feel hungry. I drank a lot of water throughout the day. This worked for me but may not work for everyone and may also be dangerous. Get some medical advice before giving it a try. I BELIEVE THE ONE MEAL A DAY DIET IS THE ANSWER TO AN OVERWEIGHT SOCIETY AND A LOT OF THE PROBLEMS THAT COME WITH IT.

Off topic question. Some years ago, I heard a claim that certain foods should be eaten together, at the same meal, to maximize nutrition/weight loss benefits, as they are not as powerful when they are eaten at separate meals. I scoffed at such a claim which is why I didn’t note the source or food combo. I’m just wondering… Is there any merit in such a claim, or was I right to be sceptical?

I have lived in India and have good experience with Siddha medicine. My Dr. used to always say don’t believe hearsay that fresh amla is better than dried, or fresh ginger is better than dried powder. Each one has its own effect. Even sugar taken in different sizes has different effect on the body according to him. Anyways, I never took it seriously and always used to think a fresh version of the product is better than dried. Today I saw in this video how dried ginger called Sukku in Siddha has some compounds that fresh ginger misses! And it was a revelation for me! Sukku is specifically used to treat obesity and diseases of the blood vessels in Siddha, not fresh Ginger which is used more for digestive and muscle-skeleton diseases.

I work in a restaurant supply / grocery store. the store I’m at has the busiest produce of most of our stores. Because we’re so close to Microsoft headquarters we have a lot of out of country workers many of them are Indian, we have so many Indian restaurants in our area many are vegetarian.
The point I’m getting at is I see what the people who are not overweight purchase, that seem to be healthy.
Ginger, garlic, various green vegetables, peppers, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach and mustard seed, lots of basmati rice, etc.
Recently, my girlfriend had a urge to have some Taco Bell and I saw one Indian familiy going down the poor food choice path. They were not overweight and hopefully they only go there once in a blue moon.

Honey is not to be put in boiling water. The temperature should be not more than 60 C. If temperature is higher honey releases hydroxymethilfurfural (HMF) wich is carcinogen causing cancer. If this drink is used as detox water for long period it becomes dangerous to your health. Don’t you agree?

Careful with this narrator’s analysis of the reports. These articles look scientific, and they may very well be, but articles published in Iranian and Persian biochemistry journals are not well read in the West. Now, these studies may have been done well, but if they are as important as the narrator claims, then I ask why were not the reports published in more high-impact journals? Furthermore, are these journals even peer-reviewed? I don’t know, because I have never read anything from the journals the narrator has selected. Still, just because I have not read anything from them, does not mean that the reports the narrator quotes are not valid. However, I can point out some flaws in Dr Greger’s analysis and reading of the results presented in these reports. First, what biological significance is there to 110 mg/dL blood glucose versus 104 mg/dL blood glucose without or with a cup of ginger tea with white bread? I believe any diabetic could easily handle a blood glucose concentration of 110 mg/dL. That’s practically a normal fasting value. So, the doctor’s conclusion there that a cup of ginger tea with white bread is better than a cup of water with white bread does not compute. Second, the doctor mentions LDL-cholesterol was improved when ginger was ingested, but LDL-cholesterol is not anymore associated with pathological cardiovascular events. It is inflammation that is a strong risk factor for cardiovascular disease, not cholesterol. Third, Dr Greger states the authors claim CRP levels drop by half after consuming ginger for 12 weeks. But, look at the errors associated with the measures. Those means are not significantly different from each other with errors like these. In fact, look at the “Before” group: 5.2 ± 5.4!! That’s a lot of variation. And fourth, fasting blood glucose concentration and A1C get worse in the control group as the study progresses. Something is strange about the study design. There should not be this drift in both variables. Be careful of persons who sound right, but who are not making proper conclusions from the data. Also, it must first be established that the experiments and results are credible. —R Bennett PhD.

I followed the treatment for 4 weeks and my blood sugar level dropped to normal levels.
How do I prevent blood sugar from becoming TOO low taking ginger (and/or other natural things that lower blood sugar) and metformin medication for t2 diabetes? If the answer is to stop taking the medication, I’m afraid my doctor won’t help me to do that in the slightest, and then I’d worry about my sugar getting too high… I guess all I can do is monitor It and try to wing it and do what seems best?

I’m sure I’m not the only one who struggles to eat ALL the healthy foods out there. I just don’t eat enough food, in total, to make it possible to incorporate them all, every day. Each day, I try to eat beans, nuts, seeds, greens, berries, mushrooms, matcha, garlic, turmeric, ginger…(trailing off). It’s just too much. I always feel like I’m failing.

Beetroot jus help me a lot with periods pain control! 4, 5 days before period i drink my jus once or twice a day and it’s all good! No harsh pain anymore!!

That’s awesome, I love ginger. Soy really helped me. When I first went vegan I wasn’t eating any soy products, my cramps went when I started drinking soy milk and eating soy ice cream. Maybe it was to do with hormonal imbalance? I’m just guessing, no idea.
I’m not whole plant vegan (some junk food in my vegan diet) but recently started having raw plant smoothies for breakfast each morning with a good chunk of ginger. Interested to see how this plays out.
I mince 1 tsp up super small and chug it down with my morning wake up drink; 2 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and 12oz water. Put it in a blender with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Chug it down through a straw. I make a yuck face, then go brush my teeth. Sucks but it works.

Better yet go WFPB and your diabetes disappears. It’s magic! People with bad habits will now make ginger beef and chicken and think they are on the road to recovery. Although I doubt meat eaters are the demographic here. They’re on carnivore channels figuring out what else they can wrap bacon around.
wow this is he answer to my monthly problem, haha. What amazed me more is that in the second month the pain dropped significantly compared to the first month, which means, probably, that the pain can disappear completely in the future, if of course, ground ginger is administrated in the known doses and for a longer period of time. Can it be replace by fresh ginger, though? I find that the ground ginger I buy is just a normal spice and doesn’t have the health benefits it should have if it was organic, etc.. so maybe fresh is a better option? I will gladly participate in a study like this, but no placebo for me
If drop in insulin levels is not equal to the insulin sensitivity produced as a direct result of the ginger consumption, then where is that extra fasting glucose levels coming from? My 2¢ would probably paint the adrenals as a culprit. Hence increasing insulin sensitivity without a synergistic increase in glucose disposal (SGLT2 drugs) as well as caloric intake will produce adrenal fatigue as the adrenals kick in to maintain (relative) euglycemia.
If my hypothesis is true, it’d be best to avoid ginger & let insulin do it’s job otherwise risk adrenal exhaustion & the drastic immunosuppressive effects that come with it.
Obviously, further research is required as something, or rather, a combination of cofactors are keeping the sugars high for whatever reasons. Wonder what role glucagon plays into all of this.

I may not be doing the daily dozen—but I’m a vegan—but thanks to you, Dr. Greger, I drink vinegar every day, I eat 1/2 or a whole cup of beans a day, and now I’m doing the ginger tea regimen.
Nothing proven, it may work or it may not. Uncertainty it is.

I have gastritis which causes nausea every morning, and the only things that help are ginger and marijuana. I mix a teaspoon of ginger powder and put it in a glass of water, and it really helps settle the acidic feeling in my stomach

I have had horrible menstrual cramps. They come every 2 hrs and last for about 20mins. Basically debilitating pain, at work, in route, at home. Just terrible. I have literally called out of work and even left work early due to the pain.
My level of painful menstrual cramps were at about an 8. I would experience cramps, which caused hot flashes, sweating, nausea, and at times, vomiting.
I was taking 800mg of IBUPROFEN every 2 hrs and still in agonizing pain. The pain would start, I’d take the ibuprofen and I swear by the time it kicked in the pain was gone. But by the time the pain came back, the medicine had wore off.
I added less than a tablespoon of raw gjnger to my smoothies just for taste, and surprisingly I noticed that I didn’t have painful menstrual cramps. The next month I didn’t have any smoothies with ginger and the pain returned.
. But I learned that ginger is Phenomenal and it has changed my life! I eat raw ginger everyday and I have noticed a drastic decrease in menstrual cramps. I still have cramps, but no pain, just light pressure. No nausea, hot flashes, sweating, or vomiting. I am 100% confident that ginger will completely stop painful menstrual cramps or significantly reduce them.
I am a 75 yr old women and I have severe arthritis in both shoulders, the doctor wants to do shoulder replacement in both shoulders. I made my own ginger tea and it got rid of most of the pain but gave me diarrhea. Do you think I put too much ginger in my tea? Fresh is better. Mash a big tuber of ginger root. Boil with some water for abt an hour. Sip throughout the day. Add yr own flavours if Drinking it plain is not yr thing.

This really works. And if you keep doing it month after month it helps even more, however, I wish there was something that would eliminate the pain. Ginger helps but does not eliminate the discontford.

Wouldn’t “powdered toast” capsules cause inflammation in some people? And then potentially increase their pain level? I think they should have used a different placebo pill in the study.
Drink this one or twice daily around the middle of your menstrual cycle. Mix in hot water: 1/4 teaspoon or a dash (about 1 gram) of ground organic ginger powder, 1/2 teaspoon of ground organic lemon peels powder (I make my own using Krups coffee grinder), and organic lemon juice. I drink this in the morning before gyokuro or matcha, and about an hour or two before my breakfast baby greens/ fruit smoothie. Then I’ll drink this ginger/ lemon peel/ lemon juice tonic again at night before sleep.
Ginger and lemon peel are not just good for PMS symptoms but also anti-carcinogenic as well.

I drink ginger tea daily, and also diffuse lavender oil, and my migraines have been controlled for months now.

Here’s how I do it. Chop up a chunk of ginger, drop it in a glass with just a small amount of water and swallow it like you would a handful of pills or a shot of alcohol. Easy peezy.
You can even use some sort of flavored water to make it even easier.
