Football Weight Training Program Aerobic Fitness for Football. Football requires good aerobic fitness to provide endurance for sustained effort, Periodized Weight Training for Football. Periodized training breaks the year into three or four training phases, with Role-Specific Training for.
Weight Training Exercises & Workout Programs for football players to Build Strength, Power and explosive speed. Football Sport-specific Strength conditioning programs for all levels. Probably no other sport requires as much power, strength, stamina and explosive speed as football.No wonder Sports Coaches say the weight training is a must for all football players.This workout is designed to increase your explosive power and strength to help you on the football field. It’s a full body workout on a three day schedule Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Before starting the workout you should warmup for 5 minutes and stretch for 10 minutes.
Hold your stretches for at least 1 minutes each.It’s either too complicated or you find someone who has taken a basic bodybuilding workout and called their “Football Training Program”. The problem is training for football and training for bodybuilding are 2 separate animals.
Bodybuilding workouts are designed to build muscle while football players need strength, speed, explosiveness and endurance. That means you need a different workout program.To prepare for a season that can last 14 games over six months in some cases, D1 players must train year-round. The weight-lifting program that D1 football players follow is designed by a certified strength and conditioning expert, which all D1 schools have on staff, along with several assistants.
5. Weeks of March 25, April 1, 8 Lift 4 days a week, 2 days lower body and 2 days upper body. Train using football specific lifts: Power Cleans, DB Cleans, Clean Complex, Push Jerks, Squat.to emphasize strength training. Near maximum strength and fitness levels can be maintained if: 1. Players remain disciplined on and off the field. 2. Sound nutrition habits and adequate rest are crucial.
3. Players exhibit near maximum effort each weight workout. 4. Practice fast and play fast to develop fitness levels needed to play the game.Perform each of the workouts (I, II, III, and IV) once per week. Try and schedule your training so that you perform workouts I and II on back-to-back days, and then rest a day after that. Perform workouts III and IV on back-to-back days, followed by two days off.
How to do it.The off-season summer strength program is 10 weeks long, saving the last week for testing. This program will be four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) giving the athlete rest in the middle of the week and on the weekends. Monday and Thursday workouts will be training the chest, shoulders and triceps.

A lot of cool stuff here but a few of the exercises seem like they’d carry a significant injury risk if you were a pro athlete like those one armed over the head dumbbell snatches… definitely want to do some of those one legged jumps though.

Training for goalkeepers that includes exercises for all body and useful habits. Do you have something?
Is this strength or speed/power training? I didn’t see any heavy weight in this session. Strength is generally at around the 4-6 rep range which means heavy and not just an empty bar.
I don’t like football but I do love the athleticism in the sport and the players.
Are the mixing the sprinting with lifting all in the same day?
Nothing for the upper body is kind of disappointing:/ obviously its a footballers workout but the upper body is still very important for football (shoulder to shoulder contact, force production for sprinting, jumping, etc) emphasis should be on training the lower body & core but at least include basic calisthenics for stabilization and some hypertrophy (pullups, dips, pushups, aussie rows, etc)

Non of the squats went below parallel, every thing is a no rep
Also do a real workout, not that crossfit bullshit. Push/Pull split and do running after your lifting since your glycogen stores will be empty (helps keeping lean). Stretching twice a day before lifting and before bed helps me personally.
High reps with light weight or low reps with heavy weight is better for soccer player training.
So how long do players spent time in the gym for these workouts, on average? How many sets and reps each? I always think athletes do 3 sets 50 reps of whatever routine at minimum.

That was intense. This vid also goes to show that looks ain’t everything. Obi may look like hercules but barely survived this explosive nfl workout which targets the body in a different way by emphasizing explosive strength, reactive quickness, agility, coordination, and power which entirely recruits type 2 fast-twitch fibers in the body. Athlete build is really something else and true beast power comes from within all athletes such as football and basketball players. The coach was amazing and Obi did his utmost best to do everything he could. Great work!!

Disagree with the Olympic lifting not being important for NFL athletes as mobility and is key especially for linesmen as they need to be able to be explosive from a low 3 point stance

Listen I did this workout yesterday and didnt stretch afterwards like I know I should. Now my glutes are soooo tight I have alot of pain in my lower back is rediculous. Doing periodic stretches atm which is slowly helping. Be sure to stretch thoroughly afterwards guys lol
