I liked everything except the comment that olive oil is healthy. Thanks.
what do you think about this youtube video? i just started eating millet and was educating myself on millet on youtube and saw this video-What do you think? let me know…….my name is George https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyNxvfE5vI8
Please don’t misunderstand the claims about “superfood” it’s technically better, but in reality it doesn’t matter much.
Sure, buckwheat has more protein than many other grains, but the difference is microscopic when taken in context of required daily doses of protein.
And the difference is essentially irrelevant when taken in account realistic daily buckwheat intake (100-200 gramms), you still need an actual source of protein in your diet.
If you depend on buckwheat for protein or anything else other than carbs you’re already doing it wrong.
Roasted buckwheat is not “kasha”, it’s still buckwheat.
“Kasha” means “porridge”. It has nothing to do with buckwheat specifically, it can be any grain.
buckwheat is the best source of magnesium & it is a lack of magnesium in our diets that is considered to be contributing to the number one cause of death in the U.S…. heart disease… so yeah, i’d say the advice in this vid is right on according to my research
Thanks very much Natalie, this is really helpful, clear and easy to listen to. I love buckwheat but forgot how good it is.
Buckwheat is very healthy for intestines,it really is gentle:-)also has lots of iron.
for a does of max health, make a buckwheat porridge and the cut garlic into it, cant get better than that!
I make my buckwheat with cacao butter cinnamon blueberries Himalayan salt and maple syrup. Thanks for the information I didn’t know it was that good for you
There’s a significant amount of misinformation in this video. It’s deserving of a video response.
Thank you!!!:D That was lovely presentation:)
I learnt Buckwheat:
Has 2 Essential Amino Acids (lysine and arginine).
GOOD stuff to know:)
Thank you for making this video. You have a beautiful channel and I enjoyed this video. Thank you.
The best way to eat buckwheat is to boil some salted water, add some buckwheat (2:1), cook the buckwheat until almost done, strain most of the water add chopped carrots, brown some ground beef, add that to the pot, add some butter, let that melt and enjoy!
you just gotta be careful of some premade buckwheat noodles. A lot of time storebought buckwheat noodles and soba noodles have wheat gluten put in them because without the gluten binding it all together the noodles fall apart pretty quick after being made. So just double check the labels.
Tell me your hair is the result of eating buckwheat and I will eat it for the rest of my life….everyday. I am a bit gay but looking at you, my heart is jumping like crazy! Mom reported that I loved people with long hair even when I was a baby….Imagine me having bad hair or being bold! I could have jumped from my building….or I could have devastatingly been jealous whenever I see hair like yours.
I discovered it during my years living in Riga-Latvia and i buy and have it weekly
Any whole organic food is supper food. Whole unrefined rice and corn never spike your sugar level!
p.s. the background picture shes showing, shows brown buckwheat, which means its been toasted & you cant sprout it, to sprout buckwheat get whole groats which are white ish with a tinge of green
before i even watch this thanks for the video, appreciate the info as i just bought a bag of buckwheat i plan to sprout. p.s. check out my poetry if yal are bored. peace!
im from russia.. ilove buckwheat so much it helps me lose weight..
Does the buckwheat pasta need to be all buckwheat which tends to be very expensive? I have found some with whole wheat flour (which I am trying to avoid). Am I negating the benefits of buckwheat by eating this type? Thanks so much!!!
wow im so impressed,i was looking for a crop to plant for my bees and you popped up!its my lucky day, thanks!!!
smart, super buck wheat girl,if you want to avoid cancer stay away from soy products.
I am not sure where to buy Russian buck wheat,? Can some one plz let me know if I can buy the buck wheat in the link below.
http://m.ebay.com/itm/Premium-Quality-BUCKWHEAT-groats-3-Three-900gr-Packs-Imported-from-Russia-/131071593986
This grain is so beneficial for those suffering from fragile bones it may strength them, just try it s yammy
And the last and not least, the most delicious buckwheat comes from Russia as it is a national entree food as well there. Simmer it with water for 25 minutes with a hint of sea salt with ratio of H2O to buckwheat 2:1. Put a piece of butter, stir, melt and enjoy:)
took a food intolerance blood test. all gluten grains, wheat and dairy are now off my menu. i thought i would have to get my carbs from fruit and sugars from now on. test also said buckwheat is 100% fine, now its the only complex carb option i have, and 100% buckwheat soba is one of the most nutritional foods i have come accross:)
@ArbiterG George it is good for both… since it’s a complex carbohydrate and since there’s like 50% RDA Magnesium, which helps prevent the muscles from kind of like, eating themselves or whatever, sry. am just bad at explaining…:/
Buckwheat it’s hight in vitamin B17… This vitamin can help cure cancer
Hey, have you thought about this program called the Fat Blast Lifestyle? (google it). My father says it helps people burn fat. What do you think?
looking for a healthy bread for sandwiches at work looks like using buckwheat to make my own bread is the way to go
MADAM RAGI KO SUMMER ME KAISE KHAYA JANA HAI TIPS BATAYEN. THANK YOU MADAM.I REGULAR SEE YOUR VIDEO.
I had never tried buckweat until this video. Now my whole family love it just cooked as it is (organic whole groats)! Buckweat pasta is great too!
ragi is just a food like any other food. if I will show u benefits of wheat then u will think wheat is awesome.
wow, didn’t know all that before. good info, Natalie. now I need to find some recipes for buckwheat.
I had millet and have anemia at the moment. It seems the only thing to get rid of the coldness and helps me feel well enough to do some running. I feel very worn out and its one of the only foods that make a difference.
Good day! I’m Katie.I did -15 lbs last 1 month.Go to hawght.so\#NbGw
It would be a shame if you did not bulk up when normal people are able to burn up fat so easily with Lean Body Maximizer (Look it up on google).
It would be a shame if you did not build muscle when these other people accomplish it so easily with Cosmos Fat Loss (check it out on Google).
Reason #11: Buckwheat is alkalizing. Will you marry me, Natalie?
I’m staying away from wheat flour and white flour. There is a gluten free wheat free whole grain millet flour made by Bob’s Red Mill which I just used to make as pancake and added organic maple syrup, healthy all the way and helped me step one step up from only vegan and fruit diet i was on for a week ( lost 10 pounds ) Thank you for this vid and I hope more people wake up to the endless healthy alternatives that are out there from you tube uploaders such as yourself. People should also be aware that all animals and dairy is toxic and sending millions of people to the hospital, I am very surprised this does not get discussed very much other than a few utubers, thank God for utube!
I love your video…..can I grind buckwheat into flour to make bread? and should I soak
Thanks for the info on millet. I bought some at our local health food store, but didn’t know how to cook it. Finally used some combined with steel cut oats, almonds, water/almond milk in my Instant Pot. It’s great!
One question, can I ground into millet flour and if so, what changes would I need to make in the other dry ingredients (baking soda/powder)?
If I wanted a concert I would go to one. We couldn’t enjoy the video.
Have you seen Atomic Fat Loss? (Google it) It is a quick way for you to burn calories fast.
I love your video and advice. My moms grow buckwheat in home for our food. Thank you for sharing benefits of buckwheat.
i looked hard to find buckwheat in the grocery isle then i found it in the Russian isle. They know the good stuff.!!
oh video you so random. if it was not for the green screen reflecting in your hair, one would have thought you shrinked to the size of fagopyrum.
and what are those pringles doing in that seemingly organic-food shop?
anyway, like and fave.
Buckwheat is really good! I have no idea why we don’t eat it in the U.S. it is so much better than rice! I never had it until I met my wife (who is from Ukraine). My first thought after I had it was, “where has this been all my life?!”. I eat it about twice a day. In the morning I have it with a couple of fried eggs.
We have a glucose meter. Buckwheat is low glycemic. We eat it creamed for breakfast. I through hulled barley into soups and stews. Steel cut oat are good too if you rinse off the powdery lose starch before cooking. I gave some to a friend. Her fit husband claims he has lost 4 lbs since he switched to cream of wheat for breakfast. He is four lbs lower then his high school weight. My husbands fasting glucose is down to normal. Any long cooking cereal is great for you.
Nice video. Too. many screen changes though. I’m only now discovering millet. Thanks.
Natalie, where did you study nutrition? Just curious…thank you.
I just tried Millet for the first time today. My daughter tried it too. It taste like Cream of wheat to me but your don’t have to add milk and it’s not wheat at all. It also taste like brown rice to me, but with more protein and a natural creamy taste which is awesome plus it’s gluten free. We were both pleasantly surprised how good it really tasted. I love it. Ill be fixing more. I used Bob’s Red Mill brand.
It would be a shame if you did not build muscle when other normal people do it so easily using Lean Body Blaster (Look it up on google).
I roast the millet, powder it and make a porridge by adding 1 cup of water for 1 tablespoon of millet powder. Add a pinch of salt too. Then boil it until it thickens and turn off the stove. I add some toppings (dark brown sugar, dried fruits or maple syrup and shaved almonds etc). I eat it for breakfast
lol I eat buckwheat everyday, it’s really cheap and very popular in my country
Shes rite about people in Eastern Europe, I live in Lithuania and we eat a whole bunch of it 😉 didnt know it was so good, from now on, ill try substituting rice with it ;0
I heard there are 500 different types of millets(I know few), like Brown top millet, Kodo Millet, Proso millet, Foxtail millet etc., so millets are all different variety.
Good information….horrible background echo in the audio. Use a clip-on mic next time.
Barbara, your essay in your description box is wise and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing it.Janis
This is a classic for Christmass, a millet pie!

I am consuming ragi continuously from 15 days really helped for weight management…all pls try..
I’m just wondering if roasting buckwheat to make Kasha has any negative effects on the nutrient profile.
Buckwheat is a main food in Russia. It compliments any kind of meat, chicken. No fish though. I love to eat it even by itself.
Gluten is also a protein. The prevalence of celiac disease in the U.S is 1 in 141 (That’s 0.7% of the population) is the same rate here as it is in Europe. Most people who avoid gluten do not have celiac disease. One reason they may have difficulty digesting wheat is because they lack adequate gut flora. The enzymatic action of whole wheat natural levain (sourdough) is by definition probiotic and highly nutritious, Humans have baked, consumed, and derived health benefits from bread since before recorded history. Wheat is the staff of life. Without it, civilization would not exist.
Just had Millet for the first time. I cooked it just like rice and used chicken stock instead of water. It was really good. I learned about it as a healing food for hyperthyroidism.
Very interesting! I’m looking forward to checking out your recipes for cooking millet as I’m bored with the way we have it. Thank you.
Thanks Barbara for the great video.
I grew up in Africa and the only (the only) dish in our table was cooked millet dough or powder with butter and cow milk or yogurt. of course everything was natural. Africans laugh when they read the word “organic” in some western produce or milk, because organic there is the natural thing. no hormones, no pesticides, no fertilizers either. Mother nature there is free.
Is this ancient grain something you would replace quinoa or rice? what would be the recommended amount to take on a daily basis?
im eating it right now for the first time i think, was wondering why its not very popular…
now that i know its also good for you im even more surprised
very nice any one have nice recipe for spicy or sweet or middle eastern millet
I really enjoyed watching your video on Millet it was very informative. I use millet all the time as I thought my youngest had a wheat and gluten intolerance which she doesn’t but it’s a nice alternative and good for the diet. I buy the flakes and make porridge for my girls of just buy it whole and use it as an alternative to rice if I have any left over I use it to make stir fry with veg and or veggie substitutes and I also make a millet loaf as well which is delicious. Thanks for the video peace.
I am being forced to eat this crap since childhood…
I didn’t notice any benefit
Thank you so much for the informative upload! This morning I tried to make millet flat bread for the first time in my life, I mixed some millet flour with flex seed flour and tapioca starch and sea salt with little warm water and it formed a hard dough, I divided it to 5 sections and flatted the desks with the roller and used a hot pan to cook them. I am happy with the result it wasn’t bad.
There’s different types of millet. I’ve recently learned that pearl millet can damage the thyroid gland but that proso millet doesn’t. You might want to call the company of the one you’re eating to see which type of millet it is.
Thank you. I was looking for a nutritious rice alternative. This sharing means a lot because it prompts people like me who are occupied in other areas to explore and implement new ideas without totally reinventing the wheel.:-)

In Nigeria, the Northern parts have a milliet drink called Kunu which is fermented first in water. It then is ground along with spices such as cloves, black pepper, and dried ginger. Its health benefits are varied to include preventing diabetes. Its a delicious canvass for any fruit you like if you dont want to use sugar.

Hey, something else I would like to add about millet, its a nitriloside food which is highly important in your diet too, take a look and please do some research on nitrilosides, AKA B17, leatrile or amigdalin, theres a reason why cultured foods are no longer in our sights, enjoy:-).
Amazing… ragi has so many benefits didn’t know about it. Thankyou soo much. Wonderful info
