5.0 out of 5 stars Goodnight, Sweet Prince. November 27, 2018. Color: Charcoal Verified Purchase.
Amazon shows me that I bought my Zip on Nov. 14, 2014. We were faithfully attached for almost four years exactly before, last week, I accidentally ran him through the washer and dryer. I’ve been despondent ever since.
I HIGHLY recommend the Fitbit Zip Wireless Activity Tracker. And my mother does too. I know that some people have had issues with it, hate the size of it, love how other ones do more and have way more bells and whistles, but for me, this one is perfect because of what it’s done for my mom and because of it’s size, because of the app and computer resources, and because it DOES do everything it promises to do.Up to0.5%cash back · The Zip is an all-day tracker that logs your steps, distance, calories burned, and total active minutes. It features wireless syncing, an easy-to-understand touch screen that displays data when you tap it, long battery life, and it clips to your belt or pocket easily.
The Fitbit Zip is comprised of a Fitbit Zip tracker and a silicone clip. At just 35.5 mm by 28 mm (and 9.65 mm) the tracker is lightweight and discreet, so it’s a non-intrusive tracker to wear. You will hardly notice having it on. The battery will need to be replaced around every 6 months (3v coin battery).
The Fitbit Zip is one of the few clip-on trackers that you going to find on the Fitbit line up, and is one of the first attempts on the fitness tracker world from the Fitbit family and just like the Fitbit One was first released in 2012.. In general, if I had to recommend just a single activity tracker out there today – it would be the FitBit Zip. It fulfills all the basics and is easy to use. I could give it to my 96 year old grandpa and he’d be able to use it just fine for tracking his walks (he walks far more than you’d think).

I have a green fit bit zip. I love it. My Mom has the one version (has sleep tracking). I prefer mine since I just change the battery vs hers you have to charge via cable.
thank you! super complete review! i just aad it to my amazon cart in color hot pink, cant wait to have it!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my FitBit Force! Best and most motivating tool EVER! And a huge thanks to you two! Every video you post I am on my bounce board pounding out my 10K A DAY STEPS Thank you for keeping me entertained:)
why not get microchipped in back of neck to record all data? lol
Men! I have to have over 11,000 steps to get 2,200 calories. My husband is 6’4 and it is impossible to diet with him.
hmm it stores the users fitness level in the could?
so i guess if you’re a fatso and use this, your health insurance is going to go up
I can just see the marketing meeting for this….
“So it’s marketed at ugly fat people and complete morons??”
“That is correct yes.”
The only thing i wish it had was a back light. How they didn’t think of that is beyond me.
I am a more challenging personality, i.e. not tech savvy and slow to learn. Need to be pounded over the head to get the lights to turn on. Will explained this device in a way that I could understand (a plus) and I look forward to finding more info from him. This Zip was a birthday present from my daughter the one who knows she won’t offend me if she implies that I am out of shape. Thanks Will for your instructions! L
“We forgot we had it on us…” How many of you are there in you?
Thank you for this video. I need to get that Fitbit. Maybe cupcake wants to try it too! Lol
fake likes to unreputable links? this is some advanced scamming shit!
I found my Fitbit zip in the bottom of a lake when I was treasure hunting:)
I received my Zip fit bit from my insurance provider, this video is very helpful.
Thanks.
Tyler’s a natural! I love his reviews! Thank you for taking the time to do this for us! Much love!!!
I just want to get it for the fit RPG. It’s a fit bit game verison. I would love the surge more but that’s $300 or so.
Now I know that I want the Fitbit Zip instead of the other high priced ones thanks.
MAJOR PIECE OF JUNK DONT BUY IT. IT COUNTS WHEN YOU DRIVE OVER BUMPS TURNS STOPS…UGH
I love my FitBit! I have the Force, and also the Aria, which is a wifi scale that measures weight, BMI and % body fat. Neither of you need to lose weight, so I don’t know if the Aria is something for you, but I LOVE these tools! They are very motivating!
Excellent review. Where might one find one of the fitbit’s? Loved the joke. Have a great weekend. Love you two friends. Linda
LOL re: Idol’s coming on. Too funny!
Great review, I’ve been looking at getting this. Thank you!
Hi Paul. My sister wanted to give me one of these for Christmas. Glad to see one in action. ttyl -Drew
I use the app on my phone. I love it! I am trying to lose weight, and it is a super helpful tool. I think the app is a great idea because most people carry their phones with them everywhere. I like the ability to quantify my work outs. Not only is it a great motivator, but it lets me know how much more I need to do before I reach a daily goal. Great review!
I love my Fitbit Force! It make me more accountable of my activity and pushes me to take a few “extra” steps. Great review!
does the Fitbit add steps when you’re NOT walking? say when your’re driving for instance. The pedometer I have adds steps and its annoying.
Thank you I just got one of these fitbit from my insurance company was not sure how was going to really work for me after looking at your video it was very helpful more information than the actual set up Site gave me I think this is going to be a very helpful tool for me now thanks
Sometimes I walk at night, can I see the readout in very low light?
Why does it have a swimming tracker if it can’t survive a few laps in the pool?
Overly sensitive..it registers steps when I’m driving..help please
I have been using it since 2 months and love it. I forgot to take it off before swimming once and found out it works good in water also.so now I don”t bother to take it off while swimming.
is nayone else having the hardest problems just opening the back to put the battery in? for god’s sake i had to use a screw driver to move it barely and i’ve arleady scratched the back of it. this is ridiculous
Lol…love how he says”if I’m wearing pants…” I would have thought he wore pants everyday. Just cracked me up.
Great Review. It’s a great little device. In the UK we have a consumer organisation called Which they are well respected for there unbiased test results and they put it above all other trackers including other Fitbit products
My clip broke not even a month in!!! So bummed. The stores don’t sell then either!!! Boo
Its amazing, I got the Alta and it shocked me on how far Fitbit has come!
I have something similar to that in watch form. The watch also allows you to take a heartrate (I do it while working out to see how close I am to target heartrate).
http://www.amazon.com/review/R2KKU0MR3IKYFV/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm
I lost the tool to open the back to change the battery. any ideas how I can change the battery without that tool?
As a middle school math teacher I GREATLY appreciated this weeks funny;) Totally trying out that joke on my kids Monday!
Fitbit calculates total activity for the whole day. can we control it for individual activity. Such as i only want to track my basketball activity during the day.
How do u reset the pedometer because mine doesn’t reset overnight. Do I need to regrister as a fitbit member for it to reset?
No fractions were harmed in the making of the Friday Funny. lol…
I had a zip but hard to reset steps the next day. And i wish there was more dashboard options for Android
it’s a fucking bitch turning with that key thing. i just gave up. don’t waste your money
How do you sync the fitbit? And do I have to keep that small piece in the computer at all times?
Thank you I just got one from my daughter with no instructions so this video helped big time
How do I set it up? i have just opened the box and there is nothing on the screen.Do I have to open in someone? Please help.
if it doesent work then what it is staying at 8541 not changing iv left the battery out for quit long
i like mine, i have the longer thinner one that can supposedly track sleep (i don’t use it for that just read an article showing that these type of devices are inaccurate for sleep tracking). but i didn’t realize you should keep it on when working out, and i didn’t realize that the calorie burning tracks calories you would normally be burning (i kept seeing it like i didn’t do anything to burn all those calories) but now that makes sense that its a total estimation and not just for the steps you’ve taken…
How do you make it start from zero steps, mine says 428 steps on a new cell
My first though: doe it take pictures of random girls, guess their age and judge me by it? xD
This review seems too kind to be honest. After looking at Amazon reviews (there are like 3,000 reviews approx), this pedometer has a lot of bad reviews: technical malfunctions, battery problems, etc. I think its drawback is it is too complicated and overkill for my needs, e.g. a basic pedometer. I don’t want to deal with synching, Apple software etc. also getting mixed messages: top 10 review says it works on both apple and windows. But another review says only Apple? Who knows….next!
I love my fitbit, however I need to know how to correct the time. When I replaced the battery, time is incorrect. Help
How do you clear new steps? I put new cell and it’s says 428 steps and 226 calories burned and I just new cell, help
What a great idea! Thanks for showing us how it works, too!
I think I need to get one of these! Do you still use it a year later Tyler? Thanks.
My husband and I each have the Fitbit Force. We have been enjoying ours and sort of turn it into a healthy competition with steps! He can’t wear his to work though, but he gets more “steps” at the gym. Him and I are turning 30 this year and there is no time like the present to get “fit”!:-)
Probably shouldn’t make youtube videos if you can’t talk louder…
I love both of you! You two make a great examples for young couples, well for that matter, older couples too! I need this Fitbit!
I would like a weird Hiatus cover called “Still Untitled: The Gary Whitta Fuckfest”
I dont know if I find the idea of quantifying my day to day activities greate or horrible.
Its clearly a tool that has great potential to help you get an idea of “how” you are doing as a healthy being, but should you not have an idea of this to begin with?
Items like this one askes ud some interesting questions about who we are and what we want to be.
I bought this for my mom for christmas and she really likes it! PS I love all videos with Tyler…you actually inspired me to have my boyfriend do cameos in my vids as well:)
My job gave us these for free this year. I love it. I forgot to wear it one day and I was so bummed.
I wonder how they calculate calories since the heavier you are the more calories you burn due to the weight load?
.
Can I use this for other type of exercise like stationary bikes and body weight cardio?
i hope they discount this (black friday 2018) its currently £50 in the uk on their website, which is very expensive for such a lofi device
I’m late to the party. Just got my FitBit today. Thanks for splaining it Tyler.
This device is great, causing me to find reasons to “get my steps in”. Easy to use, it doesn’t require a cell phone to view current counts and other data since those display right on the device with a push of a button.
watch pocket lol, since most of us now have wrist watches shouldn’t it be more aptly names the condom pocket……
So does the zip track sleep? I saw it as a option when you were checking the site.
what do u mean if it makes it I need to work out today with it
Moments like these I wish there was a “Love” button on YT. So I’ll just say it instead. I value both you guys’ opinions. I’ve been wondering about these gadgets… Do you have your own treadmill?
I have a Fitbit one & love it! It is a great little motivator to get moving.
I have a blue zip. Its awesome but i turned my zip off but its still not resetting the steps from yesterday. And i wish there was more options for the dashboard for the Android.
Idols coming on….hahahaha Another great review from your hubs! Always simple to the point and humorous:-) Thank you for sharing!
My goodness. When your cat started mewing I thought it was one of mine. I am now very interested in the Fitbit.
I have the fitbit one and it’s pretty nifty! Although it doesn’t always track my statues properly! Maybe cause I clipped it on my bra:/
It also tracks my sleep and how many times I’m restless. I sync mine to my phone
Why does the calorie count start out with calories burned even when you have not taken any steps for that day?
Thanks for this. Im doing the avon 2 day walk for breast cancer and im training right now. I have a pedometer app on my phone but I’ve been thinking of getting a fitbit but haven’t decided yet. This is helping me lean the way of getting one now. Keep up the good work Tyler & Emily!!!
Great review on the Fitbit zip. I received a Fitbit force for Christmas and I love it! It is very convenient and it helps motivate me.
My husband and I both have one his is black and mine is hot pink. I also like the different faces the little Zip makes depending on your activity level.:):P:D It’s a great device!
I have this. Never was able to open the battery case on back. It has basically sat on a shelf. Mine never came on so I’m not even sure a battery is in it since I never could open it. Is it normal to be so hard to open?
Thank you so much for this review! I think I’m going to pick one up tomorrow!
I love my Fitbit! I upgraded from the Zip to the One, and then to the Force. I just forgot to put the One on, the Force is almost exactly the same as the One, but you wear it on your wrist instead.
Do I need to sync this to my iPhone or PC everyday so the information is logged. If I go for a walk run etc one night and then start it again in the morning will I lose the previous nights steps OR do you just use it everyday and input all the day on a Sunday evening for example.
@Shay Love +Shay Love Even if you are not actively moving around you are still burning calories. So the fitbit tries to estimate that.
You really explained it well but forgot about the just tapping it to get it to move instead of buttons all in all pretty good 4 out of 5 thanks so much for the demonstration!!!!!
Great video! I have the fitbit force. It’s a great tool to check your fitness goals! The technology is amazing!
I noticed that the different colour Fitbits were priced differently does the colour matter apart from its appearance?
I have the Fitbit “One”. I love this thing! I’ve had it about a week and a half and it’s definitely helped me stay more active. It’s fun to track your progress throughout the day and push yourself toward that 5 mile or whatever goal. I agree that it’s not great at tracking sleep, but it does help me know how many hours I’ve slept over the last however many days. You can also use the My Fitness Pal app in conjunction with it. The MFP app is much more accurate for tracking your calorie intake, as you can customize different recipes, it keeps track of things you’ve recently eaten so you can just click on it if you’re eating it again, and it has a barcode scanner so that you can scan anything that has a barcode you’re eating that hasn’t failed me yet! It even knew the brand of milk I had last week from a local dairy! It syncs everything with the Fitbit app on its own, and vice versa, so it adjusts your calorie intake vs. burned calories from exercise. It’s awesome and I wish I’d gotten one sooner!
Nice! Now that my husband has one and is seeing his steps and calories, he’s really made changes…he monitors his sleep too and it is not good. I wish he would wear his C-PAP
GIVE AWAY will happen as soon as I get 100 subscribers! Come check me out!!!
My fit bit zip time is off by 5 hours. I put 2 newer batteries in it but that didn’t help. Can I ‘reboot’ it?
I need to get me one of these. Thank Your for the Review Paul!!
The Fitbit One grows a virtual flower as you’re more active. I love it.
I bought mine at Goodwill for $19, thanks for the short review and the comments appreciate it. Will only wear it when I’m ready to get moving.
$60 for this thing. Wow. I wonder how much the mark up is. 5,000 steps (doable for most people) is about 2.5 miles. 10,000 (recommended for most people) is 5 or so miles. Scrap the $60 pedometer and walk on a measured trail for the same distance. Done.
I was thinking the exact same thing. He said it is waterproof but, you should not swim with it? I was confused on that,
I’m henry the VII I Am…henry the VII I am I am….;) xo Kristin
Tyler is hilarious! I love when he does reviews! I have a fitbit flex that I wear on my wrist and I love it. It gets addicting to reach your “goal” everyday!
The Nintendo Fit Meter has a more intuitive app on the Wii U, is only $20, and also tracks your relative altitude!
Good review. One remark: the little device is capable of syncing by itself if you keep the dongle connected to your computer. Whenever you are nearby, the fitbit zip will connect to the computer and update without requiring your intervention.
Thanks for this review. I really was interested in getting one of these. I’ll probably pick one up soon.
why does it not reset when I take out the battery then put it back in again???? please help
I’ve always wondered about the fitbit, thanks for the review Tyler!
Thumbs up for “We gotta get this done…Idol’s coming on”! LOL! Tyler’s words of wisdom…that is a great video idea…clips of his zingers!:)
does it count calories if you’re on a bike ride or something?
What if when your trying to start an account on the fitbit zip and it says it’s “ineligible” what do you do?
Will the fit bit zip still work if you don’t use the fit bit app or do you have to use the app in order to use it?
I love my FitBit flex. It is such a good motivator. I made my husband get one and we have both lost a lot of weight. Thanks for the review!
we gotta get this done. Idol is coming on.
hahaha I love you two!!
@Missy Zimmer the fitbit will account for calories burned while you do nothing or sleep normally you will burn approx 2000 calories per day so fitbit counts that toward your burnt calories per day.
Great review! I just purchased one yesterday due to your review but I have two questions.
The Zip was on my desk while sleeping last night and when I woke up, it said I burned ‘567’ calories with ‘0’ steps. Why is that? I thought it was supposed to reset to ‘0’ calories burned at midnight? Also, I manually entered how many calories I wanted to eat each day. In the morning, with no food entered, it calculated 300 calories less than I entered? Hope you can help! Thank you for taking the time for the review!:)
Awh just love Tyler’s Fridays funny’s!!! This fitbit sure does sound neat & I think it could be a motivator maybe?? I know that Elle told me about it in an email and as I want to lose weight this might be a purchase I need to make. Thanks guys another great Friday…..happy wkend folks…..hugs xo
lol’d when he said “idols coming on”!!!:) very informative and entertaining. so cute. Love these reviews!!!
so your phone has an accelerometer, why do you need this thing?
I got this one today and I like it. I synced it with MyFitnessPal and I have the Fitbit app on my phone.
Hello, Just got the zip fitbit. How do you erase the data in your fit bit to start all over again. And, it does not seem that’s is calculating correctly, my steps are high, and it does not appear to me that I walked that many steps. So I wanted to start all over, but do not know how to erase date
Very helpful and user friendly. I have only had my Zip for a week and I love it however, it has never gone to a blank screen it just rotates to all of the screens you described I have already changed my battery which seems too soon.
these people don’t have volume control?? i could hear you just fine
Hi there Great intro! I took my battery out & it doesn’t reset. Any ideas? Dr.Michelle
“No fractions were harmed in the making of the Friday Funny.” HA!
I was hoping the video would show me how to get the thing started. So far it’s the biggest waste of money for this year.
I got one of these for Christmas this year but the battery has died already!!:( I’m hoping that the battery was faulty and there isn’t something wrong with my fitbit zip! Have you heard of anyone having this problem?
Hi Paul, nice video…but technology is not my strong point!! bring on the coin rolling…cheers,g.
