The best way to prevent a quadriceps injury is by strengthening the quadriceps muscles while keeping the entire lower body strong, flexible, and balanced.Taking the following precautions can help: fully warming up before engaging in the demanding activity conditioning the muscles with regular exercise cooling down following exercise allowing the muscle to heal completely before returning to the activity.A pulled quad is often treatable with some rest, ice, and medication. Symptoms of a pulled quad The quadriceps are the group of four muscles on the front.Knee extensions will help you begin to strengthen the quadriceps muscle.
Sit in a chair and extend the injured leg in front of you and flex and extend the knee through its full range of motion. You can use an exercise band or ankle weights to add gentle resistance.Keeping muscle fibers in good alignment allows them to glide well and tolerate forces.
Stretching and strengthening can help do this. Prone Stretch On A Bench (Don’t allow back to arch).A quadriceps strain, also known as a quad pull or thigh strain, is a relatively common running injury. Strains can range from a mild discomfort to a full blown tear of most of the muscle which can result in severe pain and the inability to run or walk.
The injury typically happens when one or more of the quadriceps muscles.For the first 48 to 72 hours, apply ice pack on the thighs or the injured quad muscles, 3 to 4 times a day, for 15 to 20 minutes. For the next 48 to 72 hours, apply moist heat on the area 3 to 4 times a day for 15 to 20 minutes. Keeping your leg.
According to Massachusetts General Hospital Orthopedics, the first stage of exercises includes isometric contractions of the thigh muscle, as well as simply building mobility by practicing extending the leg at the knee. I didn’t address it in this video but obviously there could be some effect from his Achilles injury. There are no direct correlations between Achilles tests and quad strains but he likely has altered his mechanics to put different load on the quad muscles. Either way this definitely will make further rehab even more challenging now with a history of both injuries.
When I’m jumping my upper right side(outside) in my quads hurt…I rest it for like 2 days and it’s gone again…I’m doing a vertical workout…then it happens again sometimes…How can I avoid getting this pain??

I suffered from this condition for 4 years but I finally managed to find the solution to fix this chronic injury. Its unconventional because I have tried ALL the advices here on youtube but none of them worked. I got onto the idea after reading about Stan Efferding (powerlifter and bodybuilder). He mentioned that his joint felt much better when he switched to more bodybuilder type of training vs powerlifter training because of the reduced load and increased BLOODFLOW. So then I got an idea. What about training to maximize the blood flow to the quads?
So what I did was this on a leg day: The aim was to increase the blood flow as much as possible with low/moderate load and high reps
-Warming up 10 minutes with a stationary bike.
-2 sets goblet squats 20 reps easy load.
-2 sets of 25 reps leg extensions.
4-5 sets of leg press (leg press machine) medium load 20 reps
2 sets Bulgarian split squats bodyweight only. 15 reps
-Hamstring work
So this routine fixed the issue in 3 training sessions.
Can’t guarantee it will work for you but it’s worth a try. This injury suck so much, so I am happy if this can help someone other than me.

Thank you for this. I had the same exact injury playing soccer. I planted my left foot and kicked with my right and I could feel my left quad buckle. After an MRI doctor tells me I have a 15cm tear in my quad muscle. I could still run on it but no sit ups because it could tear again. My question is how do you prevent this injury from happening? I can feel my right quad having a similar issue when I’m playing soccer. I know squats will strengthen my quads but I’m worried my left quad will tear again.
Guys. lost a lot of weight does not need to be hard (I used to feel it did). I will give you some advice now. Get a popular diet plan called Fenoboci Diet Plan (google search it). I was trained doing 40 and 60 yd sprints. the next day want to play basketball ball with some friends and as soon as I took off both my quad lock up and was hurting for weeks and can barely walk now I see the importance of stretching.
Unfortunately it has been one week for me and the swelling has not gone down. All I did was thigh toning exercises, and I believe I have grade 1 hamstring pull since it’s only pain and swollen with no bruise. The pain got little bit better but still not comfortable to stretch. I’ll give myself another week and if the swelling did not go imma visit a doctor. (will try to update you guys later)
Hi john I have an extremely bad pain around the same as the patient here. I got it when playing a football match kicking the ball as hard as I could at and awkward angle. I immediately pulled up and went to ground I could walk for 2 minutes. But now I can walk but can’t lift my leg sidewards without severe pain or else I can’t lift it. Hello, I have swelling just above both knee caps. It developed about 2 months after bilateral knee surgery during a PT exercise. The swelling is not painful at all. It’s just uncomfortable and it prevents me from walking comfortably. Only when I wear knee braces I can walk well. Do you think that the bursae(s) just above the knee caps are inflamed? Thanks!

I watched this video trying to understand how these muscles evolved? In other words, did the vastus intermedius form from nothing. After millions of years of limping around, evolution told itself at least 2 more muscles or maybe three were needed to develop the quadriceps.

Since the rectus femoris portion of the tendon is most superficial, does that mean that it gets more strain with knee flexion? Is the tendon also portioned out that way after it passes the patella?
I injured my calf this week and it lasted 7-8 days of pain, I was able to go to the gym for 4 days run 5 to 3 km and I heard something pop on the treadmill ( the injury started after playing basketball). Why I was able to run and after the pop I felt better with some pain and today I am fully healthy and why is not the same for professional players ( they always take longer)?

I’m over here grinning because this actually worked. My college campus have alot of strairs. I started having very severe pain in my knee. I thought I just strained it but it never went away. It got better to a point where it wasn’t painful doing everyday activities. But it would always hurt going up stairs, running or walking up steep hills. After doing this therapy I have zero pain. What I did was lay on my stomach (on the floor). I put extra pressure on the top of knee using the floor. Then I roll my leg putting pressure back and forward on the area on top of the knee cap.

I’m a competitive marathoner and just got a minor quad tear during my marathon a couple weeks ago. This is a great video, but here are a few supplemental tips…
1. A quad muscle tear doesn’t generally heal with 3 days of RICE, it can take a couple weeks. So entering the rehab phase after only 3 days probably won’t work for many, especially. if you’re older. I’m 37 and with only a minor tear, 7 days off wasn’t enough to heal it and I re-aggravated it on an easy run.
2. For whichever essential oil blend you use, make sure to mix in a “carrier oil” so that it absorbs more effectively. He uses olive oil, generally a coconut or jojoba oil would be used.
3. A more potent essential oil blend that is anti-inflammatory and increases circulation is frankincense, thyme, myrrh and a carrier oil.
4. Up your protein intake to help rebuild the muscle faster.
5. Apply arnicare gel to sooth the muscle.

I It happened before he hit the ground. He collapsed, because of the failure, and couldn’t recover. The partial rupture happened on the planting of the left leg to change subtle direction,…and then the right leg stabilizes the falling,…then he falls on his left knee.
DeMarcus has continuously been treating his body poorly for years. He’s always been out of shape. His recent injury issues don’t surprise me at all.
hi i have some question for you, so my knee joint is kinda moving slightly side to side, so its that ok? or it can be worse? and sometimes if i move it quickly my veins is pinched/wedge and that is so painful for me, i also do basket. oh for the knee its on the left knee, but the right knee joint is also very slightly move side to side. hope you answer this. thank you! oh and i don’t know which part of knee that moving but i think that the upper one

This happened to me on both Quads… One thing I can say is that if it’s pulled, you need…. Surgery. NOOOO stretching whatsoever it will only create a bigger gap. I pulled both of my quads aka ruptured my tendon 1st to 2nd degree on my left which somehow doesn’t require surgery and 3rd degree rupture on my right quad which needed surgery..
I took the long route for my first experience and healed in 8-13 months fully with Knee Imobilizer…. second quad is still healing on my 2 month… There’s no such thing as getting back on the field immediately.
If I straighten the Qudrasep muscle then. Is it helpful to hill our acl tear hilling?

Pulled my quad last to last week, stopped playing immediately, ate well, rested, kept putting ice every hour for 5-6 days, then went back to play last week, and pulled again badly.
Went back too early I am guessing. Right now just going through the same process but will add the foam roller routine this time
Thank you so much with this information. I strained my quad on last New Year day after on the exercise bike for an hour. I didn’t feel the pain until after 30 minutes getting off the bike. I went to see my doctor and he only gave me ibuprofen pain pill and muscle relax. I had a bump in the middle of my quad and the front area was swollen. I couldn’t walk unless I had taken the pain pill. I don’t know how to treat this injure at home. Now after seeing this video, I started doing the same to flex my leg. It’s painful and I have to do it very gradually to bend it. Hope I will do better. Not sure on the average how long it will take to recover. I am about entering my 60 and I should be more carefully with my exercise next time. If you have additional advise or information, I would be very appreciated. Thanks. Victor Nguyen

Strained my quad about 12 days ago. Still not completely healed… Every time I sprint though it seems like I’m back to square one, because it hurts really bad. I have a game tomorrow night that I need to play in for football… Is there anything I can do to protect myself from re-tearing? I obviously need to sprint at times in the game… What do I do?
Ive had a broken left wrist, broken right pinky finger, cracked rib, concussion, right mcl tear and today a left quad tear. Amazingly, none of these injuries were a result of playing football nor gym activities. So far, none of these injuries hurt more than a toothache… I will get thru this.
You forgot to mention to stretch the muscle so that the collagen fibres line up after you break them up. If you don’t stretch after frictioning the fibres will line up in the same hap-hazard way.
I hurt mine in football and it didn’t hurt that bad for about a week but after the weekend and we can back my leg was hurting way worse and I need it to get better soon so I can impress my coaches to stay starting wide recover please some one help!

Thanks, one of the things i have learnt from this video is that you need to recover the muscle in extended position, not let it lie fallow and then resume sprinting because the muscle will heal in shortened position.
Guys I had this problem for 5 months. I kept on playing basketball and the pain would not stop. It was so bad where it would wake me up from sleeping. I was on advil for weeks. Anyways I went to the doctor and he said rest and ice. I did ice acutally for weeks but no result. When i played pain came back even worse than b4. I found out how to fix it. read my next comment..

I tore my quad in an indoor soccer game in february and I’m still recovering! I can’t kick with that leg yet and I had to start learning how to do so with my other leg. Also when flinching the muscle in quick sprints or breakthroughs it feels like its about to pull again. Its such a stressful recovery!

Hi guys, I wonder if you can help me, I injured my quad about 8weeks ago, after squatting heavy with Volume and bad form. my knees were tracking over my feet. it was difficult to walk the front part of the thigh was visibly swollen and painful. I rested and compressed the leg, treating it with cold applications during the first week. it’s not painful now and I can squat decent weights (315x 4) but the leg is still not at 100%. I noticed also that I don’t get a pump in the quad when I work out, infact it almost feels like I didn’t workout. however I feel the DOMs after 24 hrs like clock work. is there something I should be doing to get the pump sensation in my right quad again?, or is it a matter of time before that is restored?

Well the pain i had was in the middle of my quad where the tenderness was the size of a dime. I actually felt the pain all the way to my knee. What you have to do is ice but if it doesn’t help its most likely the strain is deep in your muscle. There is this thing called THE STICK but you can use a roller for doe. Now you have to buy heat cool lotion. You have to role the muscle with The STICK and the lotion.This will be extremely painful. But keep doing it and the pain will gradually decrease.
What about the little massager things that only vibrate? Will they do anything?

I figured I have quad tendonitis but my pain is much higher than where you described. It is really affecting my life since I am a dog walker. I have RA so I am screwed to begin with. I feel it is a tendon pain or muscle pain. It is not a sharp pain, more of a cramp. It is now 24/7. Pain is the story of my life. btw no way would I be able to massage with my hands…due to arthritis. I recommend you warn people about proper techniques if they ARE going to use their fingers/hand…. so that they do not cause themselves pain in hands. I actually have some great books about that!

But I came to edit my comment to say I after watching your video, even though my pain is higher on my thigh, I remembered I do have a massage tool that has a cord and it is a percussion type, with a dual head, sort of looks like a shiatsu massage tool. I had put it in my closet long ago because I bought it for my neck but found it too heavy & cumbersome to use. (I have RA) well I took it out today to try on my thigh and lo and behold, I think it is going to really help. It is a Conair brand, probably I bought it at a drugstore. Long time ago. It has a heat function on it as well. Thanks for the idea!

Well I don’t have a positive diagnosis but performing this and simply massaging and loosening up my quad/patellar area really helped my knee pain that flared up for the second time in a month! Ibuprofen did nothing for me, and this targets the exact area that seems affected.

How about using heavy electric hair clippers with the guard on? That massager isn’t cheap.

I suffered with quad tendonitis for several years. Physio and Chiropractor both tried manually breaking down scar tissue but it never worked for me. Using an old handheld massage machine I already owned had never occurred to me. After a few sessions buzzing the scar tissue while watching tv it has literally fixed the pain for skiing, biking and stairs.

I’m sure you are, but so many people are not, and take the black label medication for uncomplicated infections, to then go and develop severe tendinitis. Floxi hope site is full of people trying to treat tendinitis due to Fleuroquinolone use.:(
Interesting because when I had this pain above the knee in combination with other pain elsewhere from running I had a bone scan and it showed a slight stress reaction of the distal femur and I had to rest for a few weeks to prevent it from worsening beyond a SR.

Hi I’d been dealing with off and on flareups of quad tendonitis and IT band pain for about 6 months and really getting down about it, having tried chiropractic treatments, strengthening exercise and rest. I bought the pure wave massager last week after a quad flareup and can’t believe the difference it made. I have been dealing with this for 8 months or so. Had an X-ray and was told I had a healthy knee. It started as a tingly sensation in my knee cap and now is mostly in the tendon above my knee. Never pain below knee cape just on the sides. Also no pain when I run or exercise only after and hurts when I just rest it for weeks too. Thinking about going back for MRI. Started squatting but that makes it hurt after much worse. Any tips appreciated.

I fixed the pain above my knees with your rubbing technique. I could feel the relief immediately. After a few weeks the pain was gone. I rubbed with my fingers at first but that’s difficult to sustain with strong pressure for a long time. I pulled out my Thumper massager and it worked great. My knees couldn’t get enough. Hey guys, wondering if any of you know of any quick fixes for my quadriceps tendonitis. I got it after preparing for my volleyball season (perhaps due to continuous intense jumping), coupled with more basketball, and now I have issues with daily activities such as climbing the stairs. There would be that one spot where it has a sharp pain. I have also a muscle inbalance between my left and right leg, where my left leg, the one with quadriceps tendonitis is significantly smaller than my right. Any tips to solving this sharp pain so that I can jump properly without pain again? Thank you.

Just wanted to thank you both. I have been struggling for the past six months with a knee problem. It was diagnosed at first as patella tendonitis and I have been doing exercises to try and resolve but after three additional flare ups I was beginning to loose my mind. The last flare up was only 6 days ago. After searching on YouTube I found your video and firstly re-diagnosed the problem as quadriceps tendonitis the pain is above the patella down to the top of the knee cap. I then bought myself a hand massager arrived the next day via Amazon. I can’t tell you how amazing the massager has been I am walking up and downstairs better in 5 days of treatment than the past 6 months. It’s been such an amazing transformation. At the moment I am doing two sessions of 20 mins each day with a view to going back to rehab exercises next week. I am going to take things slowly focusing on rehab. This sounds like exactly what I have. Top of knee pain only when putting pressure on a bent knee (up or down stairs, lunges, etc.) With treatment, can this heal completely? I definitely don’t want chronic knee pain disrupting my training!
Thank you for the videos. Two days after an uneventful quad workout, one of my kneecaps began clicking on each step, no pain. The day after that, about 1/4″ of swelling around the entire kneecap appeared along with slight stiffness, still no pain. I’ve been R.I.C.E.-ing for 3 days now. About 1/4″ to 1/8″ of swelling now, I use a cane and babystep it when I do have to walk and now there are small jabs of (level 1 or.9) pain just below the kneecap. I ordered the PureWave CM5, and I will massage the area and do the recovery exercises you recommend but, for how long should I R.I.C.E. for? And also how long to do the gentle exercises until restarting carefully with low weight training? What’s an average timetable? Thank you again.
Hello Mr. Gibbons, I have a question I recently about a month and half ago I suffered a inner quad strain or tear I don’t know exactly. Although, when I received the injury from a low soccer ball game pass I noticed how quickly my quad muscle turned to blue blackish color in the center of the quad. Every time I would I lay on the bed ever so just lifted the right quad slightly, a protuberance came about at the quad near the hip and a dent appeared in the center of the quad leaving me unable to flex the muscle properly. Presently, I still have the dent near the center of the quad, the protuberance of the unknown muscle eased up but the sting, in the center of the dented quad, while trying to even want to lift the leg or lightly jog, is still there. Due to not having insurance I wasn’t able to be covered so I did not make an appointment with a doctor. What can be done for therapy for the dented muscle?
I severed both quad tendons in a fall and had them sewn back together 10 months ago. I can walk and do elliptical and stationary bicycle, but not without intense discomfort. Still cannot do stairs well at all. I bought the Pure Wave 3 weeks ago and been using it one or two times a day, each session about 10 minutes on each quad, but I don’t notice any significant improvement. Am I massaging too long? Could I be doing any damage?
Gents I feel pain (sudden and sharp) in the in the superior aspect area of my patellas during sudden stops while playing tennis. Great advice, I have some inflammation of the tendon on my upper right knee so when my knee bends it feels like the tendon is being plucked like a guitar sting. The inflammation comes and goes, typically it worsens as the day progresses and most times is minimal to gone when i wake up in the morning. My primary doctor cleared my knee and said it was stable and he didn’t detect any injuries after a full physical examination of testing both the knee and patella for mobility. My knee was not hurting when I was examined by my doctor so he could not check for any inflammation or tenderness and told me to take an anti-inflammatory prior to bed and as needed throughout the day. Are these symptoms of quadriceps tendonitis? The pain is above the patella and it feels like a thick cord on the right side directly above the patella of my right knee. I would appreciate your input and any advice as very knowledgeable doctors in this field. Thank You
You guys are the best, make me lol, anyway I am 32 I have had leg pain and knee pain, Doc said it wasn’t my knee it was my static nerve. (She grabbed and twisted my knee) I took prednisone for 5 days and naproxen for 15 days. My sattic pain has gone away, but my knee hurts on top like this and sometimes hurts directly behind my knee, or on the inner side hard to know where sometimes and it never is that painfully or red, just dull pain that I know is there. I started going to basketball practice this semester after a long break and after the third practice, I’ve had this horrible pain in the area that you were massaging. I’m not really sure what I should do because I’m not sure of what it is exactly. I can walk without any discomfort, it’s only when I put pressure on my knees like climbing up the stairs or squatting that the pain arises again. Could this be quadriceps tendonitis? Anything to help with tendonosis? I’ve had some pretty consistent quadricep tendonitis (right above the knee) that makes barbell squatting (and bodyweight squatting) unbearable… but its pretty consistent which leads me to beleive its tendonosis.

The main thing I took notice of in that video clip when I first saw it, and the subsequent screenshots was the big hematoma on his upper medial quad, right around where his pant leg is lifted to. That, and THEN the divet he had while walking.

Was playing a soccer game and as I tried to intercept a player run full speed at the ball we collided and my quad took the impact. Now I can’t bend my leg and it’s hard to walk, can’t even imagine running. Ice didn’t do much, volteral pain relief cream neither, any tips to help reduce pain and reduce the healing process?

It has been 3 months of original injury…in your opinion what is the time of recovery…i understand everyone heals at different rates. however i am starting to get concern as it has been 3 months and i am still feeling pain in the pubic bone area… any advise?

Saw the video you did on Lonzo Ball and would love to see you do one on Monta Ellis’s ankle injury back in 2008. I can relate because I injured my ankle pretty severely in 2014. I broke my fibula, shifted my tibia out of place, completely ruptured my deltoid ligament. With Lonzo injuring the outside of his ankle this will give you a chance to talk about the inside of the ankle.
Dear Mr. Gibbons, I am currently a student in high school. Three days ago, my teacher decided to incorporate squats into our workout. My left knee had been having incredibly joint pains but it was left untreated and still is. I could not use my left leg to stand up during a squat, so I transferred all of my weight onto my right leg during the squats. After 5 minutes they began to feel sore but that was normal. I went to bed and the next morning I couldn’t walk. Straightening, bending and just using the muscle at the knees and the front of my leg would kill me, and walking up and down the stairs was like taking a stab to my body with every step. I have to do the squats along with many other workouts on Tuesday, in two days. However I am still a terrible amount of pain. Massaging it hasn’t helped, and neither has ice. What do you suggest I do? My PE teacher does not take excuses unless I have an extreme excuse. How much longer will I be in pain? Please reply ASAP. Thank you so much.
Hi John, yesterday i strained my quad after suddenly taking off while playing cricket. The injury only seems to be minor as it has healed quite a bit today although i still cannot run properly on it without it starting to hurt again. Will applying some of this tape help ease the pain? Thanks
Hello Mr. Gibbons. On last New Year day after I got off my stationary exercise bike I felt the pain on my let leg quadricepts about thirty minutes later. I didn’t feel any pain while I was on the bike. I felt a numb in the middle part of the rectus femoris. I have been taken ibuprofen pain pill. My doctor didn’t think I had a tear; otherwise I would have felt it while on the bike. The area was swollen a bit now. I have applied cold/ice to the area and I also applied the hot water. I saw that with hot water. it made me feel better for a moment but it became more painful later. So, I stop hot water treatment now. Just wonder what is the right in home treatment and how long it will last and recovery period. Thanks. Victor Nguyen

Before 7 years I fell from 2 meters on a sharp object on the outside of the thigh. It was a huge bruise that I treated with ice. Muscle was ruptured. Over time, the hematoma collected and calcificated. It hurt on the touch and the weather changes. A year ago, I noticed while my practicing something tightens in place of calcification. It started to hurt at night and while walking. The pain is sharp as if it cuts me with sharp razor blade or drill bits. On the ultrasound and MRI writes that there is irregular course of muscle fibers with fibrosis in m.vastus lat. What is the prognosis and whether it might help me Kinesio tape.
I had a surgery in my right thigh in 2016 and ever since i m suffering from atrophy in my right leg…though there is no problem in walking and running but there is a difference in the thickness,,that looks weird….can u figure it out?????

the RICE method is a horrible way to heal a muscle. I understand why its used as I was taught it in school. I couldn’t practice for a week but I had to go to practice a watch my team mates practice. It’s was so hard to stand there. I get to practice next mid-next week. Yay

I’ve had muscle strains in my quads and hamstrings in the beginning for the past three seasons. Doctors say it’s due to growing and my unbalanced hips. I also have hip flexor problems. I ice, take baths, and roll my legs. The pain tends to leave after a month. In the weeks off before seasons start, I work out everyday and roll/stretch. Why am I still having these problems?

hi physicaltherapyvideo, I was bedridden with bone TB and was immobilized for about 8 months. To relieve knee pain while sleeping, I used to place a cylindrical pillow under the knee, but after recovered i found that i am unable to straighten my left leg at the knee unlike the right knee. I am limping because of this, tried physio exercises, x-rays show no deformity. When I lie back and try to straighten the knee, i feel pain above the knee cap and also on inner side of the knee. If I keep the leg stretched for a couple of minutes, it feels ok, but the moment I try to fold the knee, i feel tremendous pain and have to wait for a few minutes, would you be able to help me. I am getting frustrated.
I turned 58 years old last Tuesday. I slipped on a wet puddle and I could not stand. After many x-rays, nothing was broken. I then saw my orthopedic at steadman Hawkins and he said it was a partial quad tear right above the knee. He said surgery would not be necessary. Ice, physical therapy, compression. I’m an active weightlifter, this has really set me back. Of course I’m extremely impatient. I enjoyed your video today.

I think I injured my left quad where all I did was bend down to pick something up on the floor, and later on my quad was numb and then it started later to hurt. Now it tends to itch for no reason with some numbness.
If I stretch it that seems to help a little but it’s back numb and sometimes itching.

Play football(American soccer lol), injured my quad kicking a ball really hard without warm up… It was barely hurting to begin with so i continued playing, by the end of the game, it was horrible, so I’ve taken a couple of months of rest and played recently, doesn’t hurt while jogging or even sprinting fast, but the moment i kick a football, a feel a little pinch in my quad (even now).. suggestions for recovery?
Just tore a vastus medialis and/or sartorius muscle squatting 405 for a warm up. 405 is about 60 percent of my max so it wasn’t heavy put it tore in the bottom. It’s so swollen right now. I can barely get around or lay down.

I’d like to continue playing while using your tape suggestion but will I continue to aggravate the RF and create a chronic problem? Any treatment advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just had MRI today discover a partially torn quad. How often should I be icing the area? Being fitted for leg brace, it that just for walking.
I picked up the cm-05 and have seen improvement in my left quad tear. I had an MRI and the muscle on top middle of my thigh was visibly torn. I saw a video from Manu Tridosha showing how to locate and massage a tender area around the knee cap. I found tenderness at the 5 on a clock point from my vision and have used the pointer attachment and hopefully will be back on the tennis court next few weeks. I much appreciate your counsel.

Today I was dancing and had to do a thing where I roll up on my toes from my knees so it heavily relies on the quads and I think I may have pulled it so I’ve mainly just been using ice and ace bandage
My quad popped during a 60m sprint. I was limping for a day and it felt like I pulled it. It’s been a month since and it got stronger and recovered a bit but I can’t go 100%. I’ve been going Physio, doing exercises to target that muscle and very light acceleration to build it back up. Is there anything else I can do to improve on the injury?

I was skating yesterday and I wasn’t wearing my socks that have padding, and I was skating a little too fast and using my right leg for a lot of support and now my whole thigh hurts, but mainly the ructus femoris, I went skating a few days before and even stretched and warmed up my legs, but it still hurts (I went to bed that night and I woke up with my thighs tensing up and it hurt like hell) at first it was my foot, because I can’t feel my big toe, but then I started to relax and prop my feet up and that’s when it started.. I’ve had similar injuries in my shins and feet, but I’ve never had a sore rectus femoris. Its so bad right now that its really hard to walk, without limping.. But is there any like therapy I can do to make it not hurt as much?

I injured my quad at the first meet of my junior year of high school. I felt a jolt in my leg but thought no big deal at first. Fee days later it was super painful to sprint during practice. Dr orders was to not sprint for a few weeks or until it quit hurting. Took about 3 weeks to quit hurting. But then I injured my hamstring. This time I just had to run though but probably not a smart idea. Took about about a few months of physical therapy. My suggestion is to not get injured in the first place.

My son plays baseball and he plays center field. He was chasing a flyball and caught a very little ditch very minor that it wasn’t noticeable in the outfield and he felt a strain or slight pull in his quad muscle. I play a goal keeper in soccer and my inside of my thighs look bruised and they hurt when I was stretching my groining I was in a game being a goal keeper and the opposing team player kicked the ball at I block it with my inner thigh muscle.
I’ve completely separated my quadricep muscle at the belly of the muscle in a series of accidents in football and weight training. I let it heal and the two parts of the muscle did not grow back together and the muscle now cramps very easily. I have not seen a doctor but have tried rolling it and massaging it for days on end. It was separated about a year ago and when I have the time to go through the recovery process I plan on going to the doctor and hopefully getting surgery or some other solution.
You can’t do it yourself though really, unless you have that thing?!

I’m dealing with stuff like that left and right now at my age (36). Avid soccer player who is dealing with all kinds of leg issues all over the place only really surfacing aggressively this year. Hamstrings, calves, groin, etc. All in the span of 4 months— doing a lot to try and get all my muscles back to that “spontaneous elasticity”, lots of back stretches.

Shouldn’t you use the massager in a parallel matter to the tendon. Do you encourage the repair fibers to also be parallel to the tendon

She was being extra careful because she’s been off since March with an avulsion to the rectus femoris attachment on the other leg ( all healed) so she is not in game shape. How can I tape her today to help in keeping her from straining this other rectus? I’ve had quad tendinitis for years now. Comes and goes sometimes barely there, sometimes up at about a “6 or 7” (restrictive, not debilitating). Started following some of your other advice and got it down to a walking 4 aware of it, but not worrisome, still tender to touch on specific areas of the patella.

I know you said you dont believe his injury is related to his achiles, but i think the mechanisms are similar. For example, let’s assume that his anchilles injury occurred when he extended his ankle (from an extreme dorsi flexed position). Similarly, when you extend your ankle to jump/run, you extend your knee. So if his heel wasn’t able to take the load of his body, he could have compensated by extending more at the knee.

I was running in a game of soccer and the rear muscle of my thigh felt like it ripped right off. The pain was excruciating but within a week it had almost completely gone. There are spells where I might stretch my leg on a step or crossing the road where the pain will return for a second but then it goes again. I want to get back onto the field. There is so many different medical opinions out there but I am looking for a quick way to recover. Any thoughts?
Holy smokes. This works… only 3 days in. Chronic quad tendonisis/pathy right above the knee cap for the last five years, but mild. Only in the mornings or during warmup and never during sports/activity once warmed.
The test is walking up or down the stairs in the morning. It was a 3-5/10 depending on the day. Now its a 0-1/10.
You should get the company that makes the massager pay you every time someone buys their product after watching your video.
