It is such a shame that people really need advice on how to dress when they travel! This girl is only showing you the content of her wardrobe.
I think this is too dressy for most cities outside of Paris.
I’m heading abroad for 32 days and am planning to bring a capsule wardrobe.. your video was so helpful.. thanks Emma.. hugs from australia
Trying not to look like a tourist is unrealistic for most of us e.g. our skin color. It’s okay to look like a Tourist – it’s how we act that’s more important than what we wear. Sadly, it seems to be a reaction to poor Tourist behaviour, or simple ignorance.
I felt so strongly about this I’ve made a video to help new Tourists become travelling ambassadors for their own country so we can all be proud of where we come from and not have to worry about blending in. Ciao.
Why recommend this to me? I’m poor, I’m not travel a lot.)))))
Every time I travel in France tourists stop me and ask for directions. I must be doing something right. Fortunately I have traveled there so frequently I can very often answer them in perfect English!
Is it really that common for Americans to wear gym clothes while traveling? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone from other countries traveling with yoga pants.
Am in France now it’s a serious heat wave. In Versailles saw pretty dresses and sheer sexy chiffon tops and dresses. Honfleur, Deauville billowy slouchy pants off shoulder tops and romper shorts trimmed in ruffles.
I have several dresses and chiffon tops packed.
Lots of platform sneakers
Thank you I have watched this x2 for my trip to Cyprus. Not looking forward to the 20 hour flight from Australia!
Cool video! Which gears are you using to make videos like this? By the way, if you like traveling blogs, check out my newly made channel, I will appreciate your feedback. Thanks!
You are a gorgeous lady and have a beautiful spirit!! So glad I found your channel!
The first thing to remember is AC is NOT common here! so you will sweat, get sticky etc..so I think jeans are the worst thing to wear! they are heavy and don’t flow with movements..go back to thin flowing clothes..I live here, moved from SC..so I know about heat..hahaha
But I would be a tourist. I’m not European, so why would I buy cloths and dress like them when I go there. It’s so bizarre to even care about something like this.
Awesome videos. I’m going to save it to take a look when I need an idea on what yo wear:) Thanks a lot:)
The only thing you have to change to not seem like a tourist is your behaviour. You Americans may not see it but we kinda sense Americans when they‘re around. Not bc of their looks but bc of the way they behave. In Europe we just want to have a good and quiet time with our family and friends, mind our businesses and then you hear this loud voice with an american accent and you just know…
Oh that’s funny if you think im wearing jeans on a 3 hour flight
I was also having breakfast, however I was eating pizza , which is later day food technically,so it evened itself out!
Very funny and informative ❤️
Great tips Emma, any trainer recommendation for best arch support please.
Love love loafers and driving shoes. After many falls and ankle problems from sandals.
I am like you, ahah, I always think about the worst situations that could happen.
I have to accept that I’m a tourist because I will just roam around tourist attractions. No matter how hard I try to blend in, pickpocketer can always smell tourists a mile away. Perhaps, they’re watching these videos too:) Godspeed and be safe to all.
HAHAHA. So agree with the extra pair of panties for flights over five hours or more….100% cotton (FOR ME, not necessarily granny ones! There are some nice boy shorts and French-cut styles ones that I love!). ANNNDDD, dont ever forget your PANTYLINERS and BABY WIPES! regardless of whether you are going on long flights or not! I like to change and clean-up during my bathroom visits or layover in Trinidad or Barbados!
I’m also not even an A cup! It would be so useful if you could share your tips on what kind of clothes work for us flat chested people:)
This was so useful! And I like the idea of having designated travel sweatpants. I need to invest in maybe a nice pair of cashmere pants for travel actually
Beautiful ideas, can you do a video on tucking in tops and how to wear the big scarf
I don’t agree with all your tips, but I like your face and your soothing voice!:)
Keep up the great work!
Audrey, I found your video practical, well thought out, and you are charming to the point of refreshing. Amazing lady. Lovely.
In the UK we wear most of this stuff all the time haha but yes a lot of mainland Europe especially Spain & Italy dress a little different
Baseball caps are no worn at all. They wear, euro bags with one back strap. Google what the people wear in the country you are visiting.
If your going to Europe. They wear dressy leather black jackets and scarves.

Emma the poet and wordsmith Comfort is everything and I also definitely go for cotton, too. ❤️
Great tips! Thank you! You have a very soothing voice as well.:)
One more question I am 180cm tall do you think the black h&m joggers will be long enough? What is the brand of those you are wearing in video? They have the higher smooth hem and look bit smarter . Thank you.
SUCH cute outfits…I feel like I comment this on all your videos of your outfits but oh well it’s the truth! The yellow dress is my favorite, yellow looks so pretty on you!
Brilliantly fun video, so glad I found your channel Lizzie, and in regard to do I want to see a video of the new jeans releases? I answer this with a question of my own, do I like chocolate????? Do I like Ice cream?????
Thanks for sharing this excellent video, really it is great to see people of Paris are really fashion conscious.
Excellent video! Thanks for the tips! Love your style Emma and your so funny too
Brilliant tips Emma love them all ❤️ also are u watching love island this year. I’m a first this yr
Very useful video .. I like the ways you divided your garments.. good effort..keep it up
This is the first video I have seen..for this video I subscribe your channel..god bless you
Very informative and you are hilarious thank you I’m traveling to the UK with my so next year first time on a plane for me I’m older person. Coming to show my son the culture my Father inherited from English culture in the colonies especially Bermuda!!!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You know what is best for your chest….and more humor….. Love your humor
I found baby/toddler blanket is a great travel essential that i pack every time i travel/fly coz honestly can you trust those airline blankets?
Anyway great video
This video serves as a reminder of how generally bad we Americans are at dressing ourselves. Oh yeah, and that Athleisure is the worst trend of the modern era.
i love your outfits <3 please could you make more business outfits for summer <333
Yes! Always dress in trainers just in case I have to run for my flight ✈️
Just found your channel and loved your Brit humor and tips Wish I’d met you years ago because I’ve traveled in dresses and heels many long hours! Yeah… I was young and stupid Even after 9/11 I kept going through security with long boots . After my 50 birthday I’m comfy enough to go with comfy first. Thanks.
Great video Emma, I’m flying to New York this year, it will be the first time I’ve flown for a very long time plus I’ll be doing it on my own, so I’m extremely nervous. Have you done a video on essential stuff to take on the plane and what not to take!!! Xx
I am on the same page with the thinking of all situations. especially the foot wear. Thank you for your thoughts.
Do you have any tips for traveling to London in the summer? I’ll be there in July and I’m curious what the weather is like.
LOVED this! Do you suggest buying your normal size for blazers or going a size up? I can’t tell if yours are oversized or not
Just purchased a lounging set from mango and I’m saving it for my European trip next year. It looks exactly like those cream pants that you put on screen. Definitely wearing my trainers AND my granny panties! If I get strip-searched going through security, hopefully the security officers will have a good laugh and wave me on through ❣️
Ich freue mich auf jedes neue Video. Es ist immer wie ein kleiner Besuch in Paris.
Herrlich.
LG Kurt
Just rewatched this before some travelling tomorrow. Legit raised my hand when you asked who’s an anxiety sufferer ♀️ trainers it is!
I will assume, those who dislike meant to click like….. They were too excited that they made a mistake…… You are one of the best
You’re such a funny person: ) love the tips. I wish I could wear a jacket at the airport (they’re my favorite piece of clothing) I’m a sweaty mess.
Where else do you like basic t shirts from Arkett doesn’t ship to canada. I used to like the gap ones but too thick now a days.
hi miss louie can the outfit number 3 can match with hoody jacket instead of denim jacket.
hope can hear from thanks
A lot of comments pointing out that europe consists of a lot of very different cultures. This is true, but I think the main point is, that most countries in europe have a different way to dress than most places in USA. Europeans generally tend to always ‘get dressed’, not necessarily over the top, but generally ‘nicely’; both around the home, but especially when going out. Generally, Americans don’t always dress up, and it is more acceptable to wear more casual clothes in public.
Yes, this is a generalisation, as she points out herself, but one that might help you avoid pick-pocketing, and other things that tourists are at a higher risk. And generally, it is always a good idea to search information about the country you are visiting; it is good manners to show that you care about their social rules/traditions. Noone expects you to be exactly like the locals, but generally, presenting yourself well is a sign of respect for others in europe, even though people will still be polite if you don’t.:)
I’m not even going anywhere in Europe. 0-0 but this was interesting.
That is a stupid video. I wear what i want. You can hate how much you want. You can jump from a bridge. I want to be seen like a tourist because I am a turist. There is nothing wrong with that.
Could you do an video or IG stories on how to style black cotton leggings (for hot and cold weather)? Leggings are the best, but I have a hard time styling them and not looking like a little trash bear.
As a Spaniard I appreciate this advice, I feel like people nowadays dress far too casual. If everybody dressed up a bit more, cities and places would be more charming.
Awesome video again! As someone who flies 13 hrs flights 4 to 6 times a year, I can verify that sweatpants + granny panties + t-shirt + sneakers combo is a must! I even size up my sweatpants so they would fit looser! I’ll definitely try a blazer next time though! Also, if you have any tips on how to keep your hair non-greasy during flight, please do share!
It’s funny, everybody complaying about how Europe is not one big contry but you say it like Americans are only USA people. -_so we’re even right.??!!
I think the thing that gives Americans away the most is that you talk extremely loud in comparison to what we’re used to in many European countries (not Spain or Italy for example, but most countries further north than the Alps), especially in public places or transportation. The second tell is the fact that you smile… Too much? Does that make sense? I know it’s a part of your culture, but your casual openness with pretty much everyone you meet is a dead giveaway. That’s not to say we’re all hermits who hate eachother, but we’re generally much more reserved, at least initially, than Americans. We’re pretty blunt once we actually start talking, contrary to Americans who will often take a while to finish their greetings and “how are you’s” before they get to the topic of conversation, but you’re gonna earn side eyes and confusion if you just start chatting up random people on the street. But I guess there’s definitely worse things to be known for than your smile.
This is literally the best travel outfit video out there. Everything makes sense! And super in depth for fellow anxiety sufferers ♀️ thank you!! Gonna watch it 53 times now…
This will not work in western europe; theyll think youre a rich tourist and try to rob you
Legins is the best option ‘only when your thighs are in shape’
Thumbs up for granny pants, I am so relieved to know I am not the only one loves fashion but don’t love thongs
Well done! You mentioned comfortable earrings!!! Stud earrings are the worst when trying to rest on a flight.
You crack me up! lol
Ive never seen anyone carry off sweats as chic as you!
Very nice, plz make a video on collage outfits, love from India
The video is giving good advice, but is very general as she says at the beginning of her video. Non European people need to know that the dresscode will be different according to the country. In eastern Germany and in Norway for example it’s quite common to see people wearing workout outfits as they are very sporty and as hiking is very common in Norway and in some parts of Germany, so those outfits make sense. However, in France you only wear those when you are actually working out. If you are wearing workout clothes as regular clothes, you’ll most probably be taken for a lower class, suburban person more than for a tourist (us French people are unfortunately very judgmental regarding style). Instead of criticizing the video I think posting comments about the dresscode in your own country (or the countries you’ve lived in) would be more useful.
Lots of these items are like what instagram people wearing when they post their travel aesthetic photos tho.
Trainers arn’t my thing what else would you recommend for comfort Emma..
Ordered some packing cubes today after watching your other vlog…cant wait to get them…thanks for the tip Xx
I, an European, don’t think that you should wear those hats she says to wear. You will stand out in the crowd with those and not with baseball caps
Thanks a lot for the tips, I agree with you comfy is the most important Omg you really are so funny I adore you ^^
Can you tell me how dress we wear for going iceland plzzz
Love it so much….your dress collection is too great and also your dress choice….
Nice one! Keep making videos. Go and check out smzeus. It is the best way to promote your videos!
Hi Miss Louie, how are you, nice profile and videos. How have you been? What have you been up to.
Whites clothes: no go
Jackets with to many buttons/zippers: no go =>metals
Summer clothes /without sleeves: no go
I think you should have separated this video into some separate vids Europe is a big place and England (where I’m from) is very different to Greece for example!
Just found your channel last night. Ive loved every video ive watched. I love your sense if style and the way you do street and business. Honestly youre a gift. Thank you so much for such high quality, detailed, palatable content. Also you have a great voice and its such a nice break from high pitched, over bubbly and forced YouTubers. Also we are basically same stats so that’s super helpful lmfao. Much love Xx
Yes please I’d love to see a video about all the new jean releases!! I discovered your channel thanks to your Levi’s guide and I loved it so much that I subscribed immediately ♥️♥️♥️
Haha I wear my favorite pair of mom jeans all the time on flights. They’re super loose in the waist and possibly more comfortable than my sweatpants, but still look great
Hi Lizzie ❤,
I love how you always rock your jeans! Girl, you got some moves too! .
Always fun to to see your videos! You are too cool!
I sometimes go outside in sweatpants I sleep in, wtf is this video?
I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am to have found your channel. Literally saved my style life! Thank you thank you thank you.
I’m going to tell people I have a stylist just for travel
Never ever worn sweatpants to the airport. Mainly because I grew up with a mum and dad who’s quite conservative and therefore told me to always dress upp when traveling. However I’m all about the comfort now that I’ve grown up. I usually travel in stretchy jeans (the kind that you could do yoga in) but I must admit I have been checking out all the pinterest and instagram travel outfits where they look absolutely incredible in a pari of sweatpants and a cropped hoodie. Will for sure try it! ALSO: GRANNY PANTS FOR THE WIN!
Hi everyone thanks so much for watching!! I want to pop on here quickly and say that OBVIOUSLY this video is full of generalizations and I don’t mean to imply that these are universal truths across all people and countries. Of course each place has individual and unique customs and traditions that should always be celebrated and respected. Labeling this video in a very generalized “Europe” helps with YouTube analytics which is why you’re seeing this video in the first place. Also, the tips I’m sharing here are just general dressing tips, that when coupled with respect, cultural sensitivity, a true interest in the place I’m visiting, and at least a few words and phrases have helped me have a more enjoyable, immersive experience. xx Audrey
those people has nothing to see with french people.really sorry
Ahhhh I loveee your channel, my winter essentials are anything I wear at any other point of the year coz I don’t get cold, it’s the Norwegian bones hehehe , you’re such an underrated YouTuber and defo deserve more subscribers
If you wanna look like a British chav definitely go for a tracksuit and you’ll fit right in gotta have some Nike Air forces tho
Love it. I literally love your videos you are kindaa is and cool
You have our comfort covered even down to our underwear. lol Thanks Emma!
There isn’t ONE person walking along who isn’t saying to herself “How do I look? How am I measuring up?” You don’t see anyone smiling in ANY of these videos. The French like to think of themselves as being nonchalant but that is FAR from the truth.
i like this video thank tou. turist will always be just a turist not more in country where he has travel but he must learn some simple tradition of this country its will make him and his country proud. we all must learn how to respect each other i read many negative comment not just about americans but other natuonality too. so.. of we educate ourselves little more about others no one will talk bad about us. but like we say in Ukraine “нема роду без вироду “‘ there is no genus without a freak’. wish to visit all country and learn as much as i can spesial food my first destination Japan .
SUPER HELPFUL!! thank you. I’m about to travel and I’m going to take all your suggestions. I really appreciate how clearly you communicate things. I’m a teacher, so know about that and you do it very well! p.s. I totally have travel anxiety too and having any and all tips and tools really makes a difference. here’s one from me I have found that it REALLY HELPS to travel with a stuffed animal! I have cats not dogs so I can’t have them on the plane and my mom gave me a small “travel cat” and I don’t even care I take it out and put it in my lap at this point. Who cares what people think? I brought it to the dentist for some scary dental work too and it really helped!
I just found you Chanel….you are great…I love your dressing n combination too
Good and practical edea watching your channel here in philippines ❤
Very useful video! Best footwear for travel: trainers and Crocs
The best way to avoid looking like a tourist is to keep quiet and not have a giant map lol
I just watched a “how to not look like a tourist in Europe” video and she hit everything of what not to do spot on lol but cute outfits otherwise!
Waiting for you to come to Orlando again Emma. Disney is waiting for you!!
how to not be recongnized when you‘re american in europe:
stop screaming on publing transport while Europeans try to have quiet time on their commute
How to not look like a tourist by me
Tip 1: don’t look Asian
Well frick
I loved your honesty and how useful this video was compared to other “travel tips” videos!
Cute outfits. You always look great Jenn. I love your beret hats! Especially the Mickey one ❤️
wondering about head coverings or scarves in europe-are they required in churches, etc.?
Can someone please tell me if the military jacket is frowned upon in Europe? Thank you!
Great tips, thanks Audrey. A large silk scarf that goes with one’s travel wardrobe is a great shoulder coverup, and can rolled into a baggie and carried in one’s bag without weight or bulk. Trench and Barbour-style coats are great, but can be heavy, and very bulky, so I take a lightweight, packable, longer rain jacket, not as nice as a trench, but a step up from those cheap, emergency ponchos and coats.
Hilarious the difference in bra preferences for ‘comfortable’! Anyone b cup or bigger, you need wire or at least support. Only for gamine chests is an unwired, unstructured bra the best choice…
My definite favorite is your plaid skirt outfit. Gorgeous love seeing more fashion vids
I can’t believe I just now found you.. you’re style is so similar to mine and I feel like I can actually recreate these looks! I’m literally so happy rn what the heck
Quite possibly your greatest quotes of all time feature in this video!!! Such great tips, nothing worse than being uncomfortable when you’re travelling and getting yourself in a twist. Think i May have to invest in a ‘travelling’ blazer because I’m sure I haven’t got any that are suitable at the moment… 😉 xx
Best style videos. Your energy is great. I watch them over and over for an awesome style vibe.
When I went to Italy on a school trip (about ten years ago now) I researched what to wear so I knew to be respectful in the churches so I made sure to bring and wear clothing that covered my shoulders and knees on those days. The girls who didn’t were given hospital gown looking flimsy sheets to cover themselves. Really takes away from the experience if you’re embarrassed like that, I’d imagine lol
One should follow this advice wherever one finds oneself. M.
I love everything about this video. So many great tips to help me with my London trip
Where is the white blouse at 8:57 from? I really like it. This was a really helpfull video btw.
I cannot believe I have never seen your videos before. I am hooked!
Nobody in Europe really cares what you wear! The best way to get noticed is to be dripping with luxury labels like Fendi, Chanel, etc. Then you’ll be noticed by thieves. Just relax and wear what you’re comfortable in, it’s not like, as a tourist, you’ll ever see these people again.
Hola me gusta mucho tus vídeos. Soy de Cali Colombia. Ojala pudieras colocarle traducciones a tus vídeos.
Я хочу видеть богатых парижан настоящий французский шик, а не праздно шатающихся по улицам людей со всего мира. Не те улицы, не те.
Loved this video Emma always ware trainers and hide those knickers ❤️
The only part I think helps with style is the blazer tip and the fact Emma is tall and has nice figures. If I wore T-shirt-hoodie -sweatpants-trainers as an outfit, I would look drowned in casual clothing like I am a uni student just rolled out of my bed. I need to look a bit more smart and business and sounds like adding a blazer could be a game changer, I will try that next time
I ❤️ the outfits…… where did u buy those cream joggers? I need those in my life
Such a lovely video, well done! Literally helped me so much!
Thank you for your sharing your nice spring outfit, love it☺
You could wear a bin bag and look stunning! Beautiful outfits Jen xx
Great style and would wear almost every outfit. The only complaint is that I saw at least four bags and one backpack bag. That is far too much when thinking about traveling.
I always wear skinny jeans during flights overseas and I feel confortable Is there any side effects to jeans during really long flights?
You dont know how much you helped me Emma with this video to make my work trips at least comfortable also even to run errands like a lunatic mum that is trying to still look good Thanks and keep up the good work. All your videos are so so worth watching.
Audrey, you’re like my YouTube girlfriend. We have a similar energy, and style. So I love watching your videos, to glean a little from while also really honing in on my own style.:) Keep it up.
Like you I am a denim lover, but I love to wear a maxi dress with a denim jacket and pair of trainers on the plane, depending on the destination, I carry a pair of sandals in my carry on, and I am all set when I land to switch out and go.
Great tips! I recently had to get my ears re-pierced because the holes closed worked from home 6-8 months and just didn’t think of them but never more…
In the italian churches the local women use a scarf to cover their shoulders. And try not to show ur undergarment pls. Saw yesterday a group of tourist at Parma and they should see your video first
Hello Audrey,
Always a pleasure to watch your videos . I truly enjoyed this one & I love your sweet voice. Question, would classic elegant flats be acceptable for restaurants & churches? Thank you. I look forward to seeing your next video. Cheers
2:47 those shoes are nice but they look like you’re wearing a rattle snake on your feet
Ahh, July. The most tragic of months, when so many come to realize there aren’t enough days in May and June combined to burn off the extra 5 pounds of winter.
I think this video was quite informative but if I was to add anything more on it would be that, behavioral aspects is mostly what annoys locals. Mostly being disrespectful towards a form of culture, or invading private spacing (obviously not everyone) or overall acting rather obnoxiously or rudely, and I think this applies to anywhere in the world and not just the countries in Europe.
Emma at the airport: comfy yet stylish.
Me at the airport: wearing everything that is too big and chunky to fit in my luggage, aka I look like the Pillsbury Doughboy.
Emma…one question…Which purse is the best as a carry on for a trip?
When I lived in the US, I would constantly go back to Brazil which was a 12 hour flight. My uniform was a pair of very stretchy black skinny jeans, cashmere socks, sneakers, a black cashmere sweater, a black t-shirt, my black leather jacket, black sunglasses and my Saint Laurent backpack. Most comfortable airport ensemble ever!:)
80% of americans don’t even own a passport! I even heard americans say theres no point travelling to England and Europe because they can see “the same” things walking down the Las Vegas strip. I see this clip is aimed mostly at americans, who need to be told not to wear gawdy sportswear in order to not look a tool whilst abroad.
You are so Beautiful Jen. Loved each outfit. Could not chose a favorite.
These tips are good. The last thing people want to feel on vacation is small, which feeling underdressed does.
Especially the tip on dresseing appropriately for churches is spot on, as well. (I’ve seen many a backpacker get turned away.)
My experience with gym closes/ sports apparel is that head to toe might suggest that you dress with little care. Moreover careless and ignorant are neighbors. Many don’t care but there are those, especially those with previous bad experiences, that do.
However sports appeal is easy to pack. Therefore combine with more ‘dressier’ elements. A nice (tailored) coat does wonders, for instance. Pairing casual pants with a nicer top, for example. And going for easy day to night transference, as mentioned, just makes your life easier.
When in doubt dress up, comfortably.
In the end you are looking to find balance, show that you think (when you dress).
My american family said that they simply felt more comfortable out and about, dressing differently, the 2nd time they visisted (we didn’t care and never said anything).
Also their tip, a big factor in the summer: DON’T EXPECT AIR CONDITIONING. This may need to effect the way you plan to dress.
Great video! Love your analogy of wearing trainers! You’re more analytical than me!
Love it. I literally love your videos you are kindaa is and cool
100% cotton granny underwear wearers unite!! Had a laugh when you talked about thongs and leggings…most uncomfortable things going. I also have a travel outfit (sweatpants, t-shirt, & nice jacket included) set aside so that it’s always ready to go and looks fresh and new-ish; such a good idea. Great video, Emma and Simon.
There were only a handful of people I saw that were well dressed. Many looked sloppy with ill-fitting clothes. Perhaps they were tourists? True elegant fashion in the major cities of the world endured until about the 1960s when slowly it all began to unravel. What we see now is a hodgepodge of anything goes whether it suits your body or not. Look at vintage photos between 1900 to the 1950s and you’ll see remarkably well put together people. Our current casual, laissez-faire lifestyles make most people look frumpy, poor, and sorely lacking in taste.
two neighboring countries in Europe like for example Germany and France have VERY different dressing styles this is literally so generic and stereotypical like to an extent this makes you look even more like a tourist bc it’s just trying way too hard
If you want to ‘blend in’, look into current trends for the country and then city/place you’re visiting. What people wear in a small village in England is different from Madrid…
As European, I can’t tell a tourist at all by how they dress, I think generally most countries dress similar bc of trends that get worldwide.
Wear whatever you want, if you’re a tourist people will know based off your voice and mannerisms (Constant photo-taking, map reading, etc).
You seem organized, seeing a lot of Videos that don’t have a clue how to pack! One Gil spent 5 minutes picking out lipstick, Unreal. D o u have packing videos?
I think it should not be a Strange thing talking about parts of the underwear or even Vaginas. We all have them and if we dont we have a penis and thats it… no secret no diffrence. Its a normal Part of the Body nothing disgusting that should make us feel different when we are eating on a sunday Morning. I dont want to be offensive i just would love if we overthink the way we think about our bodies. Besides that nice Video thank you:)
I laughed out loud when you started talking about shoes. I know I have had those exact thoughts before flying, especially the flip flops stuck in escalators. Loved this video.
If i were to recognize americans in Europe it wouldn’t be by how they dress but by how loud they are
This is extremely helpful, girl you are spot on! I’ve been to Europe several times and I was never targeted as a tourist unless I said I was, and most Americans I knew of on some of my tours, looked like a tragedy waiting to occur. So I just blended in with the locals. So people watch, listen. And learn. Thanks for such a helpful and knowledgeable video
Good to re-watch… ❤
I have recently heard of a tip regarding backpacks when travelling, from Sarah Murdoch. In addition to your tip of potentially attracting pickpockets, museums may not let you in with/may make you check a backpack because of the damage-potential of artwork. She suggested wearing the straps over your shoulder like a purse to get beyond that limitation.
You are so sweet and all your tips are useful..like you said yoy have traveled a lot..same with me..so i can relate to your tips..i follow most of them..like sling bag..comfortable but not athletic shoes..
There’s nothing wrong with looking like a tourist while on vacation
Good advice. I’ve learned that too in England, that it’s not good to wear gym clothes out in public or tennis shoes. I loved all the tips.
Shirts that say phrases in the native language lol like “oui oui” or things of that nature
Some days I think you missed you calling as a Disney princess and then theres today when you missed you calling as a fashion blogger lol Cute outfits Jen!!!!!
How to not look like a tourist: stop looking up and taking pictures of everything you see. Natives look downwards and they walk fast like they know where they sre going. Try to look like you’re not interested in anything.
granny panties for the win that absolutely made my day
Hey Emma, how tall are you? Im trying to figure out whether the items you’re wearing would work for me, as I am tall haha!
I would literally wear everything in this video!! Very practical!!
I wish you had this but with a plus size person… I travel and want to be cute but also comfortable
I just came back from Paris, there is an unexpected major heat wave… it was so hot, I was sweaty the whole time …
In Ireland stop bringing hiking gear to wear generally you can if you want but mountains are not high, weather’s temperate so thermal base in winter, layers other months, umbrella… Please no more ski gear in pubs
If you try to blend in, but can’t master their culture. Then be the turist you are
My best advice to visit Denmark:
1. Dress somewhat stylish (no need to go over the top or anything; just don’t be overly casual either. But I wouldn’t recommend wearing athletic wear, unless it is super fashionable or something, and avoid worn-out/washed out old clothes.)
2. Be practical when you move around. Danes are efficient and busy people, so they get really annoyed if someone blocks the entire sidewalk, walk super slow and you can’t move past, holds up the line too long with smalltalk, and so on. Just be relatively efficient, and leave space for others to pass by, haha.
3. We may look unapproachable, but any Dane will ALWAYS help you with directions, smile and be nice. We just look scary.:)
4. Wear layers, and always be prepared for rain. The weather changes very fast sometimes.
5. Don’t be too loud in public. Enjoying yourself is great, we hope you do! But generally, Danes get annoyed by people speaking loudly, for example on the bus, or in the grocery stores.
Best video of all! Thaaaank you for giving tips on covering the hips. Thank you veryyy much
Excellent video. For my long haul flights of 20 hours + my full compression jetskins are insurance against dvt. Compression socks work well too. Jackets are key to making your look more formal for customs. If you are arriving in a more conservative country I’s swap out the trousers for a midi dress or fuller trousers to be more culturally sensitive.
Love it. I literally love your videos you are kindaa is and cool
Hey, I’m from England and I’ve read comments about Americans being loud, self absorbed etc. Maybe it’s because they haven’t had the opportunity to experience other cultures and travel. As Europeans (for this argument, ignoring brexit) we’re lucky that we can travel to multiple countries pretty easily and learn about the customs. Like we always learn how to say please, thankyou, order food in the native language and the staff show the same respect by speaking English to us.
Curious if Americans have a similar travelling etiquette, what is the attitude towards natives?
As much as I like Audrey, I don’t think this type of videos are good because they are really culturally sensitive. Sure, people watch these type of videos, but they are usually very mean in the commnts. Rather title the video “what to wear if you don’t want to look like a tourist” or something like that. I think a lot of the tips presented would work well anywhere really.
To all tourists: if you are walking along a small sidewalk THEN WALK do not stall, some of us have things to do and do not have time to spend all day stuck behind you!!!
Great video I usually find it difficult to stay stylish in this freezing weather
I’ll definitely be wearing the number 2 and oversized sweater on my next trip!!!!
We are always elegant and fabulous coco channel classic always sexy and fashion are Paris
Emma, I packed my wonderful new white fedora the way you had shown and it survived a very long flight in perfect condition.
Why do people get so het up about things? This is a video about clothing suggestions for travelling around Europe. Thank you for the video.
it is in bucket list too. But not first on my list. First, on my list is a different destination. SECRET!
Wonderful video and I truly appreciate links. I’m not great at shopping so I’m happy that you helped do it for me. Keep up the videos!!!
When your in a big family like me walking it self screams I am a tourist
Thanks for the video. I think I have a good idea what to wear. But I’m still bringing my sneakers Lol.
Wear whatever you want… I’ve been here for 1.5 years… I’ve never cared about this
The simplicity and specificity of these videos… who are you??? Amazing. That’s what. Thank you.
Hi Misslouie, how are you, nice profile. You take great videos. How have you been? What have you been up to.
The most important one, of course, is how loud you speak (had to ask a guest at a restaurant to lower his voice because other guests couldn’t hear each other’s conversationsit was quite embarrassing for us both), but also be aware that in most European countriesat least the northern ones when you order a dish it is curated to taste perfect and it is seen as slightly rude to interchange several of the items in the dish. I’m assuming it’s quite normal in America you can choose sides, mains and salad yourself, but in Europe, you don’t individualize your order as much, but rather take it as it is (which is usually also really good!)
As a former morning jogger/runner I can say that only between 05.00-06.00 while running I was left alone in middle/southern Europe but If I run after 07.00 and paused near a citycenter I was often surrounded by kids shed 4-6 or so, that their parents had ordered there to pickpocket me. I had no pockets either so I was such a disappointment that some kids started to cry and tell their parents; there is nothing to steal. I admit I felt a bit sorry for the kids but I did not run except when Most people were not awake yet. Running gear is not considered decent appropriate clothing by every religious grandmother either so some tried to force a baggy dress over me. So I avoided running where there were people. In northern Europe we are more used to seeing people dressed in sports gear or skimpier clothing. Not saying that it is appreciated by all but people wearing bathing clothes in town or too short shorts can get arrested or/and fined for being inappropriatedly dressed. It happened to me once as a kid when a policeman thought I was biking in a T-shirt and pink silk pyjamashorts. Mom had bought them for me and I had no idea they were illegal to wear outside.
I‘m actually living in Europe (Austria). You will Look like a Tourist when you dress that elegant. Europeans Love wearing leggings, Hoodies and sneakers in fact
Mam just wear a kajal apko Nazar lag jayegi… They way u have put on those outfits and paired it with different accessories and the way u carry yourself in that is amazing ❤️❤️
And what if the shoe lace gets stuck in the escalator?? Lol lol love this video so much! Laughed so much..
It’s funny, you can definitely tell which women are Parisienne, and which are the tourists!
I love skirts and dresses, especially in summer.
Great tips. It’s true about covering your shoulders in the basilicas. Plus it is cooler in them. Conservative dress is best I think. Simple and elegant. Try to at least say thank you in the language of the country you’re visiting. A warm smile is always a great accessory. Also, Americans, don’t ask for ice. They don’t use it. Don’t make it a big deal. FYI. Be sweet. Demure. Easy going. Be patient if your food takes awhile to prepare. Show appreciation for the smallest things.
Hi Jen,you always look so pretty. All of you’re outfits are adorable and you wear them so well.
hi lovelies!! really hope you enjoy my winter essentials, what are yours?!
also what kind of videos do you want to see from me over vlogmas?
I set myself the challenge as I’m the larryest longhead going lol, and it’s going to be great training to get myself quicker at turning around videos. by the way, in the new year I’ll be uploading 3 times a week eeeee, Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Sunday’s!
I’ll forever love your outfit videos! Okay let me me just say how STINKIN CUTE is your red beret!! Your so adorable lol!
I’d say Spain all the “don’t wear this” are definitely more common that the other ones
Hi, I need advice and assistance. I have a website that sells ultra high quality pashmina accessories (esp shawls and travel blankets), but need exposure. How can I get exposure and reviews? http://www.sunrise-pashmina.com
Always love your outfits, Jen! Can’t wait to see the videos
I lived the video sooooooooo much thank u emma and simon
I’m not keen on the legging with a blazer look.. maybe with a longer light coat
just wear whatever you like:) Europe has so many different countries with so many different styles. people in spain dress different than people in france or germany or in eastern europe. just be yourself! but don’t forget to bring a scarf if you want to visit a church, synagogue or mosque.
Love it. I literally love your videos you are kindaa is and cool
This is such a helpful video, THANK YOU! And all of your outfits are super cute!!
FINALLY a YouTuber who makes ideas on outfits I can actually WEAR
Actually I wore coated leggings (so they look kinda like leather/fake leather) last year on my flight to Greece and didn’t have a problem! (But under that I sported my finest pair of granny pants )
OMG the men’s thermal dance was priceless! You should be in physical theatre… seconding the chunky tread boots. I just splurged on a fancy pair by solovair and know I’ll be wearing them for years to come! Looking forward to your loungewear collection and to an update re the stores and their jeans. Wondering when I’m gonna see u in a wide leg pair I need recommendations .
Nice and useful tips, as usual, you help me so much thanks, Emma.
Montse
The leggings are “not pants” so it is a mistake to wear them with short T-shirts or sweaters that do not cover your bikini and your bootie, even if you have a good looking back. I also find backless shoes not so good to travel at the airport.
Where is this place?? I have been looking for a long time. Can u tell me which beach is this
